IRBIL, Iraq — A former French intelligence officer who defected to al Qaida was among the targets of the first wave of U.S. air strikes in Syria last month, according to people familiar with the defector’s movements and identity.
Two European intelligence officials described the former French officer as the highest ranking defector ever to go over to the terrorist group and called his defection one of the most dangerous developments in the West’s long confrontation with al Qaida.

ITALY – ROMA – 35 Algerians mysteriously disappear at Fiumicino airport
A reported 35 Algerians who landed at Rome’s Fiumicino airport either from Algiers or Istanbul disappeared after their plane touched down in September, amid raised concern over the threat posed by ISIS, Rome-daily Il Messaggero reported on Thursday, citing a police report.
According to the newspaper, the North African passengers left the plane to subsequently disappear, avoiding passport checks.
They reportedly never made it to the shuttle taking passengers from the plane to the terminal and some of them allegedly put on jumpsuits similar to the ones worn by ground personnel to mingle with luggage operators. Others are believed to have climbed over the airport’s fence, according to the report.
Officials with Polaria, Italy’s air border police unit, reportedly spoke about the incident at an assembly, asking police chief Alessando Pansa to intervene. According to Andrea Margelletti, president of CeSi, the Centre for international studies, the disappearance could be linked to human trafficking rings or organized crime in general.

35 Algerians ‘disappear’ from Rome airport
Italian authorities have lost trace of 35 Algerians who landed at Rome’s Fiumicino airport, after they failed to pass through security checks, with one expert saying the disappearances may be linked to human trafficking.
The passengers travelled to Rome from the Algerian capital, Algiers, and Istanbul in Turkey, Il Messaggero reported on Thursday.
Authorities lost trace of them on landing, as they managed to leave the airport without having their documents checked by security.
The incident happened in September but news of their disappearance only broke on Wednesday, when it was discussed at a meeting between air traffic police and unionists.
The officers have asked for state police chief, Alessandro Pansa, to get involved in the case, Il Messaggero said.
The missing passengers are thought to have avoided getting on shuttle buses, which take new arrivals from the plane to the terminal building. Some may have dressed into clothes similar to those worn by airport ground staff, while others could have jumped the airport fence, the newspaper said.
While the Algerians’ reasons for coming to Italy are unknown, Andrea Margelletti, the president of the Centre for International Studies (CeSi) in Rome, said there were two main theories.
“It’s most easy to imagine that the strange disappearances are linked to human trafficking and illegal immigration or organized crime, perhaps tied to drug smuggling,” he was quoted as saying.

Hello there………its me again…….Don Laird…..

A carbon copy of Obama referring to the massacre at Fort Hood as “workplace violence”
All this “praise” does is embolden Muslims across North America.
Ever closer we move toward looking inward for an answer to the outrageous and injurious Muslim actions that we suffer daily, actions that grow in intensity exponentially.

180 jihadists traded by Turkey for hostages: report
Some 180 jihadists, including two British citizens, were handed over to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the deal to secure the release of the hostages abducted from Turkey’s consulate in Mosul, The Times has reported.
A total of 49 Turkish Embassy staff were held hostage by ISIL for 101 days before being released on Sept. 20.
The Times reported that 18-year-old Shabazz Suleman and 26-year-old Hisham Folkard are thought to be among the 180 jihadists returned in exchange, and are being investigated by British counter-terrorism officers.
The report said it has gained access to the list of the swapped jihadists, which also includes three French citizens, two Swedish citizens, two Macedonians, one Swiss and one Belgian.
Turkey contacted tribes in the region and other armed groups to achieve the deal, it added.

UK jihadists were traded by Turkey for hostages
Two British jihadists are understood to have been among scores of militant prisoners handed back to Islamic State by Turkey in return for the release of diplomats held by the group.
British counter-terrorism officers are investigating Shabazz Suleman, 18, a grammar school pupil, and Hisham Folkard, 26. They are thought to be among as many as 180 fighters traded with Isis as part of a deal to secure the release of Turkish consular staff.

TURKEY – Boots on the ground in Syria ‘if the US strategy includes going after Assad,’ says Turkish PM
Ground troops can be used in the operation targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) as part of a comprehensive strategy also targeting the Bashar al-Assad regime, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has reportedly said.
Davuto?lu made the remarks in an interview with CNN, CNN reporter Christiane Amanpour wrote via her Twitter account on Oct. 6.
The prime minister’s interview with Amanpour was set to be aired late Oct. 6.
“Turkish PM @Ahmet_Davutoglu tells me there can be boots on ground but only if the U.S. strategy includes going after al-Assad too,” Amanpour wrote on Twitter.
Davuto?lu also reportedly said Turkey will join the coalition against ISIL “only with a no-fly zone and safe havens inside Syria.”
According to Amanpour, Davuto?lu claimed that if al-Assad stayed in power it would only help ISIL grow.
“Turkish PM tells me they’ll try to help Kobani in a humanitarian way, but unless al-Assad is stopped, ISIL grows+more towns will fall,” she wrote.

Perhaps it is true that not all Muslims are terrorists, but it definitely is true that they all share the same ridiculously defensive and narcissistic attitude as the Imam in the video. No matter how shocking and graphic the latest act of Muslim violence is, they never fail to show more concern for themselves and the possibility of an “Islamophobic” backlash than for the poor victims lying their with their arms and legs blown off or their head sitting on their chests. Just once I’d like to hear a Muslim – any Muslim anywhere – admit that Jihad is a bad thing and that they can at least understand why people would be at least a bit suspicious of Islam, but they never do. It’s always nothing but, “us, us, us”…
As for “Islamophobia”, I think perhaps I’m coming down with it at last. I know that if I were ever to hear the muezzin call of, “Allahu Akbar”, wafting through my window in the morning, I would go completely freakin’ nuts…
Me too.
