Are people starting to both see, and say what the truth of the matter is? Links 1 Oct. 4 – 2014

1. Canada to Launch Airstrikes in Iraq

Stephen Harper said the motion authorizes air strikes in Iraq for up to six months and explicitly states that no ground troops be used in combat operations.

“We will strike ISIL where, and only where, Canada has the clear support of the government of that country. At present, that is only true in Iraq,” Harper said, referring to the Islamic State by one of its acronyms. “If it were to become the case in Syria, then we would participate in airstrikes in that country also.”

5. Texas Ebola Watch Eyes 50 People, 10 at ‘High Risk’

(video at link)

Health officials said earlier this week that they had determined that as many as 100 people could require monitoring after having come into contact with Duncan before he was hospitalized. That number was sharply reduced today.

There are “approximately 50 individuals we need to follow on a daily basis,” Texas Health Commissioner David Lakey said. “Most of those individuals are low risk. There are about 10 that are high risk.” He did not say what constituted “high risk.”

Hey, it’s not as if al-Assad is going to mind seeing ISIS get hit, but I’m sure he will appreciate the hell out of the show of respect by the Canadians. Making war against the Syrians is the stupidest thing I’ve seen since Americans did the same thing to the Libyans – both of which were secular countries. The United States is now too incompetent to be in the leadership position or to even think about American exceptionalism. It’s all “wag the dog”, now…nothing but 100% wag the dog.

    • I wish you would blame Obama and the administration rather then the entire nation, doing this is like blaming the all of Britain for the Islamic takeover of sections of that nation.

      • Can we blame the whole political class plus the LSM? (Ok, just the ones who win elections?)

I’m overly sensitive because I didn’t vote for POS or the scum who’re supposed to be representing me in Congress. I’d be ashamed, but most other countries have rotten politicos too.

Canada elected Mr. Harper. If I were writing the history of the world, that would be highlighted as an example of exceptional wisdom and maturity on the part of the Canadian people.

        • That is why I am sensitive on the subject, I didn’t vote for him and most of the people I know didn’t so why should we get blamed for his actions?

      • And we’re the ones left suffering.

But that’s just how it goes. We just have to suck it up and do better next time.

But how? What can we do? Oh dear, are we really doomed?

  2. #4 Good speech.

Getting all Muslims in Western countries to sign anti-shariah declarations is such a simple and obvious place to begin. Maybe the changing conditions now will make it more possible to push governments in that directions.
