Threats, attacks and contradictions. Islam in the 21st century: Links 1 for Sept. 26 – 2014

Sometime in the middle of the night the clip of the VICE News interview with a ‘Canadian’ jihadi threatening an attack on New York was posted here at Vlad. I think a couple of things are worth observing about the clip. The threat, which is a common and frankly banal aspect of Islamic communications, is not one of them.

What is interesting is the inherent contradiction in the overall message.

The jihadi explained that terrorism will continue so long as we oppress the muslims but at no point does the interviewer ask exactly what oppression means. The jihadi tips his hand on that anyway a little bit but clearly tries to give the illusion that islamic violence against the rest of the world will cease once we end their attacks on muslims. However in the same clip he also explains that jihad will continue around the world so long as their is disbelief.

It is important to understand that this is not a contradiction.

Disbelief is oppression in islamic parlance. This has been formally declared by the OIC and other islamic groups. Legally, the existence of systems of law that are not sharia is oppression and muslims believe they have an eternal right to fight that and force the world to be under sharia law. They believe this, they fight and die to achieve it and they have stated it as part of the declaration of Islamic human rights at the UN under the name, ‘The Cairo Declaration’.

This doesn’t mean that the speaker does not know that what he said is to cause a certain degree of cognitive dissonance by simultaneously broadcasting both intent to do us violence while seeming to be taking the moral high ground of defending themselves against the attack of the unbelievers. But we can beat this in a few ways. For the moment the one I want to deal with is understanding terms the way muslims mean them. If we fail to do this, it is at our peril.

(I wish I could stress enough why this case is important. It isn’t about the penalty. Its about the charges and the process. I have no issue with people being put to death for crimes which deserve the forfeiture of ones life for crimes such as pleasure killer or political assassin etc. and providing that the process to establish guilt is as scientifically and reasonably good as possible. Sharia however is about accusations and public killing with no evidence so long as the public lives in fear of a mere whisper of a ‘crime against islam’.)

Rawalpindi (AsiaNews) – There has been yet another case of an extra-judicial murder in Pakistan, this time involving a Christian leader who was falsely imprisoned years ago on blasphemy charges.  The 45 year old Reverend Zafar Bhatti’s lifeless body was found this morning in his cell in the Adyala prison Rawalpindi. The past and president of the Jesus World Missionhad been under investigation since July 2012, for having allegedly violated the “black law”, although there was no evidence to prove his guilt.

2. Party leader Paul Golding arrested by Counter Terrorism Command

(In a land with as much political theater as England it becomes clearer how they managed to produce so many brilliant playwrights. This arrest is likely some attempt at seeming ‘balanced’ after arresting so many people who work three shifts to destroy the UK and its history and legal systems. It is, after all, only fair to also arrest the people most visibly trying to protect them)

(It might make for less reading if we had a list of towns where muslims are NOT forcing young girls into sexual slavery)

4. ISIS In West Virginia, Intelligence Centers Monitoring Movements 

(Gee I wonder if this could be connected in any way with the huge muslim compounds in West Virginia the Christian Action Network exposed years and years ago)

5. In Liberia, the best way to dispose of a body that died from Ebola is to dump it in your source of drinking water.

(Someone needs to start a petition to change the name of Liberia to, ‘Ebolia’. It would be the most honest thing that had taken place since the nation was formed)

6. Isis cell leader brother of Spanish soldier: report

  One Spaniard and eight Moroccans were arrested in the early morning raids carried out by authorities in Spain’s northern African enclave of Melilla and in the neighbouring Moroccan town of Nador, Spain’s El País newspaper reported.

The men allegedly belong to a group that organized the recruitment of jihadists to fight for Isis in Iraq and Syria.

7. Major terrorist attack is ‘inevitable’ as Isis fighters return, say EU officials

(I feel the need to translate this headline from crazy to rational: ‘Major theft of household property inevitable as homeowners refuse to close doors and add locks while thieves target area’)

A major Islamist terror attack in Europe is almost inevitable as European members of Islamic State (Isis) return from Syria and Iraq, according to senior EU officials familiar with the diplomatic, intelligence, and security planning taking place to try to counter the threat.

They said the EU’s bodies and its 28 governments were under intense US pressure to get to grips with the menace represented by thousands of European citizens fighting in Syria, but that Europe was struggling to develop coherent instruments to reduce the risk of an atrocity.

8. Islamic State raises giant flag in Aleppo Province Syria with aid of crane

(Just imagine the size of the flag if they ever open a car dealership!)

9. I’m not sure what these supporters of the Islamic state in Homs Syria are all pointing at but I am hoping its an incoming fuel-air bomb

For those of you that have noticed that its a little easier to get the truth out there these days, now may be a good time to re-normalize criticism of religious authority, especially Islamic, and redistribute older essays of Fjordman etc. especially where current situations were predicted.
