7. Researchers achieve long-distance light to matter quantum teleportation
A successful test in passing information from light into matter – using the teleportation of the quantum state of a photon via optical fiber cable to a receiving crystal located over 25 km (15 mi) away – has been claimed by physicists at the University of Geneva. This test shattered the same team’s previous record and may herald the development of greater, long-distance teleportation techniques and qubit communications and computing capabilities.
The experiment involved generating a quantum entanglement of two photons via a laser, then sending one of those entangled photons down an optical fiber whilst simultaneously sending the other to a crystal (composed of yttrium orthosilicate), where it was stored. A third photon was then sent to hit the first photon in the optical fiber, obliterating both itself and the first photon.
(As I understand it, previously teleportation of light has been achieved using cryogenics and lasers and various ultra-cold Sulphur crystals. However, as I understood it, the information contained in the light was not transported so there was no violation of Einsteinian FTL limits. If this article is correct, and more accurately, if I understand it which is in lots of doubt just at the moment, it could mean that a faster-than-light radio could be possible. If the information about the state of a photon can be instantaneously transmitted via quantum entanglement then one would imagine its a short trip to be able to use that method to send encoded data of any kind over any distance instantaneously. This would be huge)

#7 Huge is an understatement, this is also coming at the time when NASA scientists have designed a warp space engine and space ship and are investigating a reationless drive for use outside the warp bubble. If I understand what was said they can power the warp space drive with a nuclear reactor the size of those used on aircraft carriers and inside a solar system use solar cells to power the reactionless drive.
