Nigeria’s militant Islamist group Boko Haram has captured the key north-eastern town of Michika, residents say, gaining more territory in its efforts to create an Islamic state.

People fled into bushes as gunfire rang out in the town, they added.

Boko Haram has changed tactics in recent months by holding on to territory rather than launching hit-and-run attacks.

2. 4 Men on Trial in Germany Over Terror Plot

Prosecutors say the men were inspired by the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan to attack the head of a fringe far-right party that had protested the construction of mosques.

3. Ex-US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad ‘in money-laundering probe’

Zalmay Khalilzad is accused of transferring $1.4 million (£0.9 million) to his wife’s account, Profil magazine reports.

Mr Khalilzad was US ambassador to Iraq and Afghanistan between 2003 and 2007.

4. Ebola crisis: Liberia ‘faces huge surge’ says WHO

Ebola is spreading exponentially in Liberia, with thousands of new cases expected in the next three weeks, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.

Conventional methods to control the outbreak were “not having an adequate impact”, the UN’s health agency added.

At least 2,100 people infected with Ebola have died so far in the West African states of Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria this year.

The WHO says 79 health workers have been killed by the virus.

  1. (ff 5:30) How far up the ladder was this Chief Supt. David Love (Walsall Police Station) promoted for having ‘no recollection’ of evidence handed him so many years ago?

  2. More about the 1988 video report here in a report titled “Easy Meat: Multiculturalism, Islam and Child Sex Slavery “ published by Tarek Fatah, written by

Peter McLoughlin is written with care, but the evidence is hard to believe.
Readers should beware, because there is something to feel angry about on most pages: the prevalence of the crime; the length of time that it has continued; its blatancy; the lengths our authorities have gone to in order to cover up for it; but most of all, the vulnerability and suffering of the victims.

    4. CHRONOLOGY: COVER-UP TO COLLAPSE Shere Punjab:

“ Shere Punjab stepped out of the way.” Chief Superintendent David Love is interviewed in the programme and denies that they were evergiven any of this information, and denies that they ever received anyinformation about the girls being abducted. After 25 years, it may beimpossible to establish the truth about these claims. However, thestory from these Sikhs seems credible, since 20 years later policeforces in other parts of the counter were also refusing to act oninformation supplied by the family of grooming victims, includingphotographic evidence and car registration numbers.”

    • As a point of order, it was published by The Law and Freedom Foundation in the UK, not Tarek Fatah.

  3. OT: CNN: “FBI: U.S. air marshal assaulted at airport in Nigeria”
(CNN) — A U.S. air marshal was assaulted with a syringe containing an “unknown substance” at the Lagos, Nigeria, airport on Sunday, according to the FBI, which said it is investigating the incident.

The air marshal flew back to the United States after the attack and “felt fine” the entire 12-hour flight, a U.S. law enforcement official told CNN.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention conducted an on-scene screening of the victim when United Flight 143 landed in Houston early Monday morning,” a statement from the FBI read.

“The victim did not exhibit any signs of illness during the flight and was transported to a hospital upon landing for further testing,” the statement said, adding that “none of the testing conducted has indicated a danger to other passengers.”

Investigators are looking at whether the air marshal, who did not exchange words with the attacker before the incident, was targeted because he’s American. However, there is no concern at this point in the investigation that the attack is part of a bigger threat, according to the source.

  4. Howdy! Quick question that’s entirely off
topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile
friendly? My web site looks weird when viewing from my apple iphone.
I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to resolve this issue.
If you have any suggestions, please share.

  5. Looks like 50k has to be more than enough to betray a deluded Westerner…

Rebels sold Steven Sotloff’s location to ISIS for thousands, family rep says (CNN/video, Sept, 9, 2014)
    http://edition.cnn.com/2014/09/09/us/steven-sotloff-killing/index.html

“he family of slain American hostage Steven Sotloff believes ISIS paid as much as $50,000 to rebels who alerted the militant group that the journalist had entered Syria, a spokesman told CNN.

The family had learned from “sources on the ground” that a member of a moderate rebel group reached out to ISIS, Barak Barfitold told CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” on Monday.

“Somebody at the border crossing made a phone call to ISIS, and they set up a fake checkpoint with many people,” Barfi said. “Steve and his people that he went in with could not escape.”

Barfi said the tipster was one of “the so-called moderate rebels that people want our administration to support.””

  6. #3 This is what happens when you appoint people whose primary loyalty isn’t the US, and Obama and his foreign policy are what you get when you elect a President whose primary loyalty isn’t the US.

      • Very few will admit that they did, although a lot had to for him to be able to steal the election with the big city people vote fraud.

        • If the Dems have any say about it they never are, after all only the stupid grunts and vets vote Democrat.

        • I think it was Churchill who said that democracy is a bad way to run a government, but that it is teh best way that mankind has tried.

        • I don’t have an answer.

But I no longer trust the wisdom of my fellow Americans. The take-over of the MUG (military, university, government) is almost complete.

Like Egypt pre-Sisi, we’d vote MB straight down the ticket. Short of civil war, what can we do?

        • Prayer comes to mind but other then that the only alternative to a civil war is a Convention of the States to amend the Constitution, and I don’t think we have enough time for one before conditions become so unbearable that rebellion is the only solution.

        • This is the pilot to the Banacek TV series, it was one of the 90 minute shows that NBC put on with a new show once a month, they had 4 shows rotating. The show lasted 2 years with a total of 16 more episodes.

        • Movie looks like real one, (i.e. not made for TV.
          Great, thanks!

If you’re studying “TV and the Culture 101”, it’s especially useful to watch a series over time. Not necessarily all or in sequence, but enough to feel its context and evolution. (And it’s fun.)

        • Not only would a constitutional convention take too long, but it would be written by baby boomers.

Look how they’ve ruined our universities. It would enshrine socialism and we’d be wiped out.
