Bodies remain littered on the streets of a northern Nigerian town two days after it was seized by militant Islamists, a lawmaker has told the BBC.

Boko Haram fighters were patrolling the streets of Bama, preventing people from burying the dead, Ahmed Zanna said.

On Wednesday, the state government denied the town had fallen.

Officials said about 26,000 people had been displaced by fighting in Bama, a key town in the battle for control of Nigeria’s north-eastern Borno state.

Earlier this week, the Nigeria Security Network (NSN) think-tank said the group had made “lightning territorial gains” in recent months, raising fears that the country could disintegrate like Syria and Iraq, where the Islamic State (IS) rebel group has declared a caliphate.

  1. #3 I’ve already seen the muslim perp being described as “crazy”, “insane”, “frenzied”, “mentally disturbed” – you know the drill. But not described as a muslim. Nothing to see, here – move along, now, move along…

  2. Killing, beheading, raping non-Muslims, particularly Christians, is coming to an end for these Jihadis. The party is over. They also realise that the US and UK are coming to send them to collect their 72 virgins. So they will be streaming back. If they had burnt their passports, they will claim they lost it.

    Oh by the way, when questioned by our Politically Correct totally dhimmified police, their answer will be that they were doing charity work.

  3. Muslims reading this, note that you are killing each other, and everyone else, because of Mohammed. There is no point in pretending that all this has nothing to with Islam.

    Just as Christianity civilised Europe, particularly Germans and Vikings, there will be peace in Islamic lands only when they become Christian. Till then they will mass murder each other and others, and rape and pillage.

    Please pray for poor benighted Muslims. They are in a trap worse then a physical one.

    “An audit of votes from Afghanistan’s disputed presidential election has been completed, officials say, but results will not be made public for days.

    Candidate Abdullah Abdullah withdrew observers from the audit, amid fraud concerns. His rival Ashraf Ghani also withdrew his team after a UN request.

    Both camps believe they won June’s poll and both alleged widespread fraud.

    The two candidates had agreed to form a government of national unity but have so far failed to reach a deal.

    Auditing all eight million votes cast in the June run-off began in July and analysts say there are still a few days of data entry and a 72-hour complaints process to take into account before the election result can be announced…..”

    Ayatollah Khamenei has authorised his top commander to co-ordinate military operations with the US, Iraqi and Kurdish forces, sources in Tehran say.

    Shia Iran regards the extremist Sunni Islamic State group, which views Shias as heretics, as a serious threat.

    Iran has traditionally opposed US involvement in Iraq, an Iranian ally.

    However last month US air strikes helped Iranian-backed Shia militia and Kurdish forces break a two-month siege by Islamic State (IS) of the Shia town of Amerli.”

    “More than 20 people were killed and dozens injured after two bombs went off in Iraq’s capital Baghdad on Thursday.

    A car bomb in Kadhamiya, a mainly Shia area that has seen several attacks in recent days, killed at least 11.

    Separately, a suicide bomber drove a vehicle packed with explosives into a police checkpoint in central Baghdad, killing nine people.

    Sectarian tension has been rising in Iraq in recent months amid political chaos and an Islamic State offensive.

    Last week, a car bomb in the mainly Shia neighbourhood of Jadida killed at least eight and wound about 20 others. There was also an attack on a Shia mosque.

    The spate of attacks on Shia came after at least 68 people were shot dead at a Sunni mosque earlier in August, in a mass shooting blamed on Shia militia.

    Tension between Shia and Sunni groups in Iraq has been further heightened by the advance of Islamic State militants and the Sunni groups allied with them….”

  8. Even if the guy is schizophrenic, which he probably is, it could still be jihad. Our side can’t get it through their thick heads that jihadists don’t necessarily have Islamist membership cards in their pockets and secret orders from their superiors and they aren’t even necessarily violent. Have you noticed how the media always likes to define them in terms of al-Qaeda, calling them “offshoots” or “affiliates” or something, as if anything non-al-Qaeda wouldn’t really be terrorism? Let’s get this straight. Anybody who does anything that advances the progress of the implementation of the Sharia is engaging in Jihad. Refusing to sell ham sandwiches in your deli could be Jihad. Voting for Justin Trudeau could be Jihad. Sending money to The Muslim Brotherhood could be Jihad. A new Muslim convert, crazy or not, beheading an Infidel woman in her own back yard, sounds a lot like Jihad to me…

  10. Canada to send military advisers to Iraq

    Canada is sending dozens of military advisers to Iraq as part of an effort to bolster Iraqi forces against Islamic militants.

    Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Friday they will join the U.S. in advising Iraq on how to enable security forces in the northern part of the country to be more effective against the threat posed by the group that calls itself the Islamic State. He made the announcement at the NATO meeting in Wales.

    Harper, in a statement from the NATO summt in Wales, said the group is a real threat to regional security and to the people of Iraq.

    “Left unchecked, ISIL is also a direct threat to Canada and its Allies,” Harper said, using one of the acronyms for the group. “The deployment of members of the Canadian Armed Forces is a concrete measure to deter the murderous rampage of ISIL and respond to the humanitarian crisis it has caused.”

    Canada’s initial deployment will be for a period of up to 30 days and will be reassessed after that time.

    U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes tweeted the “US welcomes PM Harper’s announcement that Canada will send military advisers to Iraq as part of our effort to support Kurdish forces.”

    Canada’s contribution is in addition to the two Canadian military cargo planes that are ferrying weapons to Kurdish fighters.

    Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird visited the front lines in Iraq this week. The Harper government said opposition leaders in Canada are being briefed on this decision.

    Canada’s former Liberal government refused a request to send troops when the U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003, straining ties between the two neighbors. Canada then stepped up its mission Afghanistan as part of an effort to repair ties with Washington.

    Poll shows Le Pen beating Hollande in presidential run-off

    A poll for Ifop, published on Friday, showed that Ms Le Pen would beat Mr Hollande by 54-46 per cent if they were matched today in the decisive second round of the presidential election.

    The survey confirmed an earlier poll showing Ms Le Pen leading all other contenders of left and right in the first round. But it was the first time she had been shown ahead of a mainstream candidate in the second round – a scenario regarded to date as unrealistic.

  14. GERMANY – WUPPERTAL – Police throw book at Shariah vigilantes

    Authorities in Wuppertal are cracking down on conservative young Islamists who have mounted ‘police’ patrols by drinking and gambling venues in the Ruhr city, officials said on Friday.

    Charges of unlawful assembly and use of uniform in public were brought against 11 members of a group trying to enforce aspects of strict Islamic Sharia law in the North Rhine-Westphalia city, a spokeswoman for the Wuppertal police told The Local.

    Officers stopped the 11-man group on the street on Wednesday. Some were wearing orange vests bearing the words ‘Shariah Police’, in violation of federal German law, the spokeswoman said.

    The group has been stopping young people at local drinking and gambling establishments and urging them to abstain from activities deemed to be ungodly according to Islam.

    The Wednesday incident was the first time they had directly violated the law, and no formal complaints had been made against them.

    “There is no evidence that they have intimated anybody,” the spokeswoman said, adding that talks were under way between integration authorities and local mosque leaders to address the situation.
    Wednesday was also the day the group created its Facebook account, which by Friday had been ‘Liked’ by more than 1,500 visitors.
