The geopolitics of islam, and even some prophetic distopian literature about it: Links post 1 for July 19 – 2014

1. Some years ago, it was recommended to me to read a book written and published by G.K. Chesterton called, The Flying Inn. A book that is about an impossible future where Britain is taken over by a form of ‘moderate’ Islam. I have not managed to find time to read any books for some years now but I did find a site which lets you download a complete audio recording of this book and I just finished listening to chapter 1. I still don’t know if this book is any good or not but G.K. Chesterton is widely regarded as one of the most brilliant writers of the English language by people I regard to be some of the most lucid thinkers.

2. Last night Gates of Vienna published a story about busloads of leftists who went to Sderot for one reason or another and were chased out by the locals. Thanks to Tundra Tabloids we now have a sign which, in my opinion, would be the preferred thing to do with all who visit Sderot who think they should just put up with the daily rocket fire.

4. Charles Krauthammer writes a lucid and quotable piece on the Gaza conflict:

To deliberately wage war so that your own people can be telegenically killed is indeed moral and tactical insanity

5. The Greatest Possible Problem for Europe. Charles Douglass Murray (sorry, my error)

There are now at least twice as many young British Muslims who have gone to Syria to fight alongside ISIS and other such groups than there are fighting for Queen and country here in the British armed forces.

The Israel-haters are no real problem for Israel, but they are the greatest possible problem for Europe.

6. It’s over: Genocide has been accomplished in Mosul

null

For two thousand years, our dearest brethren saw it all from Mosul: Romanized Greeks, Persians, Hellenized Romans later called “Byzantines”, Arabs from the desert with a religion of the sword, Egyptians, Crusaders, Mongols, Turks, French and British, “Independence”… Then the clumsiest Empire in history, an Empire not wanted by most voters, unwarranted by the Republic’s own Constitution, led by bellicose hawks motivated by God knows what, justifying their actions on untruths, arrived, upsetting a balance that was not the best, but was best of all possible outcomes.

Thank you Buck, M, ML, and many more. I suspect it will be a busy day.

  1. #4 & 5 Both show the massive danger to civilization we are living through, I don’t know if civilization will survive but if it does it will be a close run thing.

  2. Migrants? More like illegal infiltrators. What do those “wise philosophers” in charge expect us to do this time…

Italy migrants: Nineteen ‘suffocate’ aboard boat from Africa (BBC, July 18, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-28383622

“Nineteen migrants have died, reportedly by suffocating, aboard a crowded boat travelling from North Africa to Italy. The migrants are thought to have choked on fumes from an old engine while they were confined below deck, Italian news agency Ansa reports.

Rescuers found 18 people in a tangle of bodies. Another person is said to have died during the evacuation. The boat was carrying some 600 people. Italy is struggling to cope with a rising flow of migrants to its shores.

Many of them make the dangerous crossing from Africa on crowded and unseaworthy vessels, says the BBC’s Rome correspondent, Alan Johnston. The boat in the latest incident was heading for the Italian island of Lampedusa. It was intercepted after it sent out an SOS signal.

Two passengers from the boat have been taken for treatment to a hospital in Sicily.

In the past month, at least 45 migrants have died in similar circumstances – as a result of being crushed or asphyxiated aboard overcrowded boats.

On Friday, Ansa reported that migrants rescued by a merchant ship this week had spoken of a shipwreck in which 60 people had drowned.”

  3. Yes! It is bombathon time again!

Iraq: Car bombs in Baghdad ‘kill 26’ (BBC, July 19, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-28386585

“A series of car bombs in the Iraqi capital have killed at least 26 people, police and medical officials say. Five bombs went off across Baghdad on Saturday, with three blasts reportedly taking place in less than 10 minutes.

The mostly Shia neighbourhood of Abu Dashir was hit, as were the districts of Baiyaa, Jihad and Kadhimiya. Iraq is experiencing an upsurge in instability. The government is battling Islamist militants, who have seized cities in the country’s north-west.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Christians are fleeing the northern city of Mosul after militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isis) threatened to kill them unless they converted to Islam or paid a “protection tax”.

The deadliest blast on Saturday hit Abu Dashir when a car bomb rammed into a police checkpoint, killing at least seven, officials said….”

  4. More bombathon!

Kenya unrest: Seven killed in gun attack on Lamu bus (BBC, July 19, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-28385445

“Gunmen have killed seven people, including four police officers, after attacking a passenger bus in Kenya’s coastal county of Lamu. The gunmen opened fire on the bus near the town of Witu, some 50 km (31 miles) from the resort island of Lamu.

They then targeted a police vehicle that had arrived at the scene. Somalia’s al-Shabab Islamist militia has said it carried out the attack. Nearly 100 people have been killed in violence on Kenya’s coast this summer.

Hundreds of families have been displaced by the unrest, which has also damaged the local tourist industry.

The bus targeted on Friday was travelling from the city of Mombasa to Lamu. Gunmen fired at the vehicle after blocking its path with their car.

The bus driver was among those killed, the Lamu county commissioner Miiri Njenga told Reuters news agency.

Eight people are said to have been admitted to hospital, most of them with gunshot wounds.

The attack comes a day after Kenya’s military said its aircraft had bombed jungle bases used by militants in the area.

A spokesman for al-Shabab, Abdulaziz Abu Musab, told Reuters the Kenyan announcement was “propaganda”.

Friday’s attack, he said, was “in response to Kenya’s claim that it deployed more troops in the coast and thus tightened security”.”

  5. JULY 19 – Pro-Palestinian protesters clash with police in Paris

PARIS (Reuters) – Pro-Palestinian protesters clashed with police in Paris on Saturday as they defied a ban on a planned rally against violence in the Gaza strip.

A Reuters photographer said demonstrators in northern Paris launched projectiles at riot police, who responded by firing teargas canisters and stun grenades. Demonstrators also climbed on top of a building and burned an Israeli flag.

President Francois Hollande earlier said he had asked his interior minister to ban protests that could turn violent after demonstrators marched on two synagogues in Paris last weekend and clashed with riot police. “That’s why I asked the interior minister, after an investigation, to ensure that such protests would not take place,” he told journalists during a visit to Chad.

In defiance of the ban, large crowds gathered in northern Paris chanting “Israel, assassin” until they were dispersed by tear gas.

  6. More on that so called Trojan horse. That stuff sounds just like those countless saudi-sponsored revivalist Muhammadan lectures you can find all over YT…

Christians lie and wives must have sex or go to hell, Trojan Horse pupils told (telegraph, July 19, 2014)
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/10977187/Christians-lie-and-wives-must-have-sex-or-go-to-hell-Trojan-Horse-pupils-told.html

“Children were taught that all Christians are liars and attempts were made to introduce Sharia law in classrooms as part of an alleged ‘Trojan Horse’ takeover plot of Birmingham schools, an inquiry has found. The inquiry commissioned by Birmingham City Council found evidence of religious extremism in 13 schools as school governors and teachers tried to promote and enforce radical Islamic values.

Schools put up posters warning children that if they didn’t pray they would “go to hell”, Christmas was cancelled and girls were taught that women who refused to have sex with their husbands would be “punished” by angels “from dusk to dawn”. The report found that the extremism went unchecked because the council “disastrously” prioritised community cohesion over “doing what is right”….

At the Golden Hillock School a teacher allegedly told children at an assembly “not to listen to Christians as they were all liars”. The incident was referred to counter-terrorism police. One teacher at the school also reportedly told children they were “lucky to be Muslims and not ignorant like Christians and Jews.”

At Nansen School the study of French was replaced by the study of Arabic and Islamic religious assemblies were reinstated. Christmas and Diwali celebrations were councils, and children were not allowed to use a doll to represent Jesus in a nativity play. A total of 28 female teaching assistants were dismissed.

At the Oldknow academy, children were told at an assembly that they should not send Christmas cards and that Mary was not the mother of Jesus. Children were asked whether they believed in Christmas and encouraged to chant “no we don’t”.

At the Park View Academy children were taught that “if a woman said no to sex with her husband then angels would punish her from dusk till dawn”. Girls were taught that a “good” Muslim woman wears a hijab and ties up her hair.”

  7. yucki here is a real good western for you, the man who wrote the screen play wrote a lot of short stories on the Cavalry on the planes.

  8. Egyptian troops killed at checkpoint (BBC, July 19, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-28387178

“Gunmen have killed at least 15 soldiers in an attack on a checkpoint in western Egypt, security officials say. The attackers used grenade launchers and heavy machine guns when they attacked the desert post some 390 miles (630km) west of Cairo, officials said. It is not yet clear who carried out the assault. Militants have intensified a campaign against the security forces since the Islamist president Mohammed Morsi was ousted from power just over a year ago.”
