1. Imams working in British prisons have ‘links to extremist Muslim groups and could be trying to radicalise inmates’

There are 11,683 Muslim prisoners in Britain’s jails and the government has deployed imams to help steer them away from extremist paths. […]

‘Our prisons have turned into a state-funded breeding ground for extremism. It is completely unacceptable that imams with extremist views are allowed to preach in prisons.’

4. 6 Farmers Killed in Attack in Xinjiang

In the latest outbreak of violence in the western Chinese region of Xinjiang, assailants have stabbed to death six ethnic Han farmers in a late-night spate of home invasions that appear to be part of a slow-burn effort to sow terror among migrants to the region, Radio Free Asia reported on Monday.

Like most recent incidents of ethnic bloodletting, news of the attack was quickly removed from the Internet in China. But Radio Free Asia, quoting local police officials, said that seven men were involved in the killings, which took place on Wednesday in Uchturpan, known in Chinese as Wushi, a rural county in Aksu Prefecture that has been the scene of deadly clashes between the police and ethnic Uighurs, a Turkic-speaking people who are predominantly Muslim.

5. Woman kicked off plane after argument about Israel conflict

Dr. Lisa Rosenberg, a physician from New York, was returning home from vacation boarding a flight from PBIA to John F. Kennedy International Airport. She said she had just finished a phone conversation with a colleague when a woman said she was offended by Rosenberg’s remarks.

“I was saying how it was good Israel found the students that killed the Palestinian teenager and how it was exemplary not making them into heroes, but seeking to publicly try them,” Rosenberg said. “I said any other country would have made these students out to be martyrs and celebrating them.” […] Rosenberg said that after she finished her call, a woman approached her, identified herself as Palestinian and said she was offended by the conversation. Words were exchanged and Rosenberg was asked to leave the plane.

  1. Hamas lays out truce term, says deal not close

The Palestinian Hamas movement said Monday that it would not end hostilities with Israel without concessions and that no serious efforts towards a truce had been made.

“Talk of a ceasefire requires real and serious efforts, which we haven’t seen so far,” Hamas legislative member Mushir al-Masri told AFP in Gaza City.

Masri said Hamas would only negotiate on the basis of a set of concessions it wants to see Israel agree to.

Those include the lifting of Israel’s blockade on the Gaza Strip, the opening of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt</b< and the release of Palestinian prisoners Israel has rearrested after freeing them in exchange for kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

“Any ceasefire must be based on the conditions we have outlined, nothing less than that will be accepted,” Masri said.

In Cairo, a Hamas official said a general framework had been agreed, and that the group was committed to achieving more than it did in the truce deal that ended the last major round of violence with Israel in 2012.

“We need to build on the 2012 truce and move forward. We don’t want to go back,” he said.

Masri said that “Arab countries and Islamic countries and Western countries” were involved in discussions about a truce, but declined to give details.

He said Hamas was prepared to continue fighting and ready for a “long, drawn-out battle.”

  2. I am torn on the reports coming our of China, on one hand it is the Moslems who are committing the acts of violence and it usually has a religions motivation. On the other hand the Han Chinese are attempting to drive out the native people by moving in massive numbers of Han. I hope some way can be found for both sides to lose.
