Items of interest to the Counter Jihad May 16 2014 – 1

1. At appears that the EDL has managed to out a couple of infiltrators who have been working from the inside to find out real identities of EDL members and then work to cost them their jobs and any other damage that they can do to whomever they can. Ironically, these two people would likely call themselves ‘anti-fascists’ while acting as fascists to the razors edge of the law and probably past it if criminal or malicious harassment is illegal in the UK.

(On another note, these two look mighty familiar. I can’t help but wonder if this is deja vu, or if this story has been done before)

2. Explosions reported in Nairobi, at least 10 dead More here

(The article does not say who did it even though there is an arrest. But it does have indicators that Al Shabab has a motive for the attack. I am fairly confident that it was not the Mormon Tabernacle Choir)

3. May 15 2014 immigrants to Italy showed their gratitude for being allowed to stay in the land which was Rome, in which the Enlightenment started, which nurtured Galileo, Dante Alighieri and Leonardo da Vinci by rioting in the streets outside the capitol.

4. Medicine in Medieval Europe. Setting the record straight on history.

It’s often said that there was no tradition of scientific medicine in medieval times. According to the usual narrative of the history of progress, medicine in the European Middle Ages – from around the 5th to the 15th centuries – was a formless mass of superstition and folk remedies; the very antithesis of science.

And those who look in medieval medicine for precursors of modern pathology, surgery, antibiotics, or genetics will of course find it a failure. But if we’re looking for a coherent medical system that was intellectually and emotionally satisfying to its practitioners and patients, and based on written authorities, rational enquiry, and formal teaching, then medieval Europe produced one of the most influential and scientific medical systems in history.

Thank you Don L, ML, M, Fjordman and all. More to come.

  1. #4 So much we were taught about Medieval science and culture are at best mistaken and usually wrong, this is because we are often taught that the people back then were stupid when in fact they were just uneducated (according to modern education). They were as smart as we are and if we were trying to survive in their times with just modern knowledge we would have a very hard time doing so because we know so little about he survival skills of that time.

  2. Given modern transportation the entire world lives in a bad neighborhood.

  3. First get our own house in order, then start helping those who are fighting the jihad. This is a case of the enemy of my enemy is my temporary ally.
