On the retreat: Somalian Islamists
Step by step, al-Shabaab is being rolled back in Somalia. The al-Qaeda affiliate appears to have been compelled to abandon Kismayo, the last big town under its control. That matters a lot because Kismayo is also a significant port and the extremists were making plenty of money by shipping charcoal and other goods out and weapons in. If they have lost Kismayo, they will have been deprived of perhaps their most important source of revenue.
Only a year ago, al-Shabaab controlled almost all of southern Somalia including most of Mogadishu. When I visited last December, they were still clinging to some enclaves of the capital. Today, they have been kicked out of Mogadishu altogether and reduced to a largely rural insurgency.
You see, many African people are very useful against Islamists.
I want everyone who thinks Europe is lost to read the article and think long and hard about it, no place is lost if we are willing to fight and stay the course.
Europe-wise, it’s a mindgame. As long as those holding power reinforce each other by just staying put to their desastrous suicidal course, we are paralysed, cannot deploy our forces. The same as in the US. Therefore, a revolution should start in november by getting rid of Obama. If Romney has a minimum of comprehension of the overall situation, he will know what’s next: real hard arse-kicking among trans-atlantic leaders. And basically the same with Russia – only that they, despite their retardedness, want to be regarded as a superpower. Well – give them a number of chances, to develop Russia into an equal ally, rather than resuming cold-war games, should be in the interest of all of us.
If they they are just being kicked out, they will be back in Britain, Canada or the US. Why cant they be confined to a narrow strip of land in Somalia, and then lock it up.
I wonder why we always have to intervene. What use is Somalia or the Somali people to us. Let them kill each other. They are all muslims in any case.
