WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States needs to be realistic about its efforts to engage Iran, whose leaders are lying about Tehran’s nuclear program and are on a path to building nuclear weapons, the top U.S. military officer said.
Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in comments released on Friday that the U.S. military has been thinking about military options on Iran “for a significant period of time” but added that diplomacy remained the focus of U.S. efforts.
“I still think it’s important we focus on the dialogue, we focus on the engagement, but also do it in a realistic way that looks at whether Iran is actually going to tell the truth, actually engage and actually do anything,” Mullen said in an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria GPS due to air on Sunday.
Does anyone that has at least 1 working brain cell think we will be able to talk Iran out of developing nuclear weapons? A realistic look says that Amadidajad (sp?) thinks that he was put on earth to bring about the return of the 12th Imam, and he belongs to the sect that thinks this won’t happen until there is hell on earth. When he gets nuclear weapons he will use them to create that hell on earth, why do so many people have trouble understanding this?
the only engagement we should have with any Muslim country that threatens the west is military.
Islam wants to conquer the world and its leaders are doing everything but sending out regular troops to Europe and the west in order to accomplish that centuries-old goal.
Now its high time that the west sees the enemy for what it truly is: Islam.
RRWest I agree, but we have the problem of getting the majority of people in the west to agree, although the wikileaks may have accidently done some good. I know the cables should have remained secret but they are supporting my claims that China is puppeteer to North Korea, that North Korea is arming Iran, and that Saudi has been after the US to bomb Iran. In fact the Saudi King ask us to do that in 2008 while Bush was Pres. If he had waited until Obama was in office Obama would have obeyed him.
