Iranian Experts Develop 2nd Humanoid Robot
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian inventors made a man-like robot named ‘Sorena 2’ which walks on two feet, discerns words and does other manly actions.
Sorena 2 -named after the Parthian Iranian warrior Sorena (84 BCE-54 BCE) who defeated the Roman general Crassus at the Battle of Carrhae- is 1.45 meters tall and weighs around 45 kilograms.
The Iranian experts spent more than 10,000 man-hours to design and build the robot which was unveiled on Saturday in a ceremony to commemorate the ‘Industry and Mine Day’ in Iran.
The ceremony was attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other high-ranking officials.
Sorena 2 was born after another robot named ‘Sorena 1’ was developed in Iran two years ago.
How embarrassing.
It looks like they might have stolen blueprints from the Japanese. Just as the “creator” of Porkistan’s nuclear bomb is nothing but a metallurgist and thief of industrial secrets that got blueprints for nuclear weapons while working in Western Europe, not a nuclear scientist.
Does the robot have the same type of platform shoes as the demented dictator of Iran? Why build a robot when you have so many radical followers?
cat it bow?
that’s the question.
It is just big toy. The really advanced robots at MIT in the States have artificial intelligence and move about learning about the world all day. This robot is a dummy. It is more bragging from Iran with no substance. The robots in Japan can walk upstairs with ease. Honda built a robot that can do that. This robot can do neither. It is embarrassing. The money spent would have been better spent on something more useful. But that is the Arab Conquered Persian for you. All show and no substance. Perhaps they can get it to say some words like “Death to America!” I wonder what the American robots with artificial intelligence would make of this dummy.
ArabconqueredPersian, it always makes me sad to think what Persia could have accomplished if it had managed to fight the invaders that forced it to turn from Zoroastrian into Arab-wannabe… It’s stuff for wild speculations…
If it had managed to fight and defeat its invaders… I didn’t mean to say that the Persians didn’t fight the invading ayrabs…
What a pair of retards the commentators above are. Why can’t you just give credit where it is due. This is a huge achievement if you know anything about the subject. But no. In your minds Iranians can never achieve this and it ‘must’ have come from somewhere else, because CNN says Iran is a backward nation. But that’s a mistake. I’ll tell you what, give Islamic Iran enough time and it will be the most advanced nation on the planet. Mark these words will you.
“. . . . Islamic Iran enough time and it will be the most advanced nation on the planet. Mark these words will you.”
Yes, well of course, Islamic nations are doing so well. It makes me wonder why they have to take billions in currency from the West. Hang on, no it doesn’t.
You have to laugh, you really do.
>>>I’ll tell you what, give Islamic Iran enough time and it will be the most advanced nation on the planet. Mark these words will you.
lmao!
Actually, if Iran had the proper kind of government, like Turkey, before the present islamist gained power, then Iran would be Number One amongst all muslim nations. I have read a bit of Iranian history and during the time of the Shah, Iran was considered to be like a progressive European country. There are millions of well educated folks in Iran who would love to get rid of the despots and take Iran to a secular and firm footing.
So, yes … Observe is absolutely right…. give credit where it is due.
MariaS,
The “Islamist” government has not been an obstacle to scientific development, regardless of the morality they espouse in their society. You laud the era of the Shah. My question is; if this was such a great and “progressive” regime and era then why would the millions of Iranians revolted against his despotic rule. Did you know, for example, that literacy rates were 53% during the Shah and that they now stand at 93% (2009)? Secularism is not the way. This paradigm is causing the intellectual retardation of youth in western society. Look at the figures. This is sad but true.
So credit where it’s due.
@observer
Could you please explain how the youth of the West have become intellectually retarded?
Is this somehow through some mysterious Islamic filter, not
shown in our society.
Can we have an election without days of riots? I think we can.
Can we invent things, and progress as a society? I think we can
But I crave enlightenment, all the mysterious Islamic inventions, I’d just love to know one Islamic/Iranian invention, that’s made any difference to anybody, just one would do?
What about an example of any Islamic advancement, above killing people for crimes that aren’t even crimes in the West, just one would do.
I’ll expect the usual evasive lies from Muslims on this, that’s, after all, all you ever get.
Just to clarify, I would like an example of Islamic invention from a nation under sharia law, not pre-Islamic Persia which did indeed have much invention or pre-Islamic Egypt where the same applies. In fact, other than Persia pretty much no Islamic nation has any respect or even knowledge of its pre-Islamic past. Thats why it took a Frenchman to read the hieroglyphs of the ancient Egyptians. None of the people who actually live there cared. It wasn’t Islamic so it didn’t matter. They would have blown them up like the Buddha statues had they invented C4

What makes the Iran version a huge achievement?
especially when you compare it to a Japanese novelty robot
You ask what has Modern Islamic Iran achieved and what Islamic civilisation at large has contributed? The ignorance displayed here by some is astounding. It’s clear those who pose such questions lack the most basic schooling in history – a testament to the fabricated reality that Orwellian Western media has imposed upon it’s minions.
I’ll keep it very brief and instead let you do your own homework. Here’s something to get you going:
On Islamic Civilisation: “Modern european education in all its branches stems from the Muslims’ curiosity and pertinacity in investigating the secrets of nature” – Brillioth in ‘Making of Humanity’
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_in_medieval_Islam
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age
On Iranian Civilisation: Iran is currently ranked 1st globally for academic publications output growth rate, above China and the US. It’s publications increased tenfold between 1996 – 2004. (New Scientist)

@observer
It’s not ignorance, but the blindingly obvious, no modern inventions ever came out of any Islamic country. Not jet aircraft, not antibiotics, not any physics or maths.
The rudementary maths they lay claim to, where the product of cultures, that were soon stifled under Islam.
This is obvious just with a cursory look at the world. Western democracies, enlightened, modern, prosperous.
Islamic country, backwards, filthy, depraved.
It’s a simple correlation. The ignorance is the people like “observer”, who’d rather see their people grovel in the dirt, in ignorance and stupidity, as is the way with all collectivist ideologies. As for its “academic” output, that’ll from the institute of “Islamic illiteracy” I suppose. Can’t see any Muslim country actually inventing anything useful anytime soon, apart from new ways to sponge of the west, they seem pretty good at that.
Ignorance, right, that’s why Iran stones women to death, to test the physics of stone trajectory. Probably writing an “academic” paper about it even now.
@ BlingGuard (…a befitting name, perhaps)
Not many Muslims deny the modern Islamic world is deprived and is somewhat experiencing its dark age. But the same Muslims would tell you that this backwardness is due to the absence of Islam rather than its presence. Proof: when the Islamic paradigm prevailed from the 7th to the 17th century a lot was happening and these efforts spurred the Renaissance, Industrial Revolution and modern civilization. If it wasn’t for al-gorithms, for example, modern computers would not be a reality. Newton’s physics would not be possible without algebra and so on and so forth. You can put your fingers in your ears and make noise but facts will remain facts, forever. I suggest you visit a Museum sometime.
Bearing in mind these historical facts, I wouldn’t say modern western civilization is scientifically ahead of its own accord. Not just retrospectively but even today, we find in many western university departments academics who are of eastern origin. Many scientists in top institutions like NASA and MIT are of eastern origin and so are many of the top students who continue to serve these countries at a higher level.
It’s an increasing trend that the western youth drop out of school and busy themselves with the hedonistic lifestyle that is bereft of spiritual and intellectual depth. This is a natural result of the secular “animal-like-free” paradigm which is designed ‘intentionally’ to keep the youth retarded and distracted from challenging the powers that be. Ever read Orwell’s 1984? Think of the Proles, ditto. Alcoholism, loose morality, dog-eat-dog culture and unrestrained sexual “freedoms” are all recipes for the collapse of civilization and the wise among westerners are sensing the collapse of their societies as a result.
Modern Muslims scientists exist but are dispersed all over the world rather than acting under a single state and therefore not easily recognized by the common folks. The Nobel Prize has been awarded to a Muslim, fuzzy logic and the gas laser, among many others, were also invented by Muslims. Muslims are present in every field and in every institute but they are dispersed. Iranians have held high positions in NASA, the Mars Exploration programme and are collaborating to build CERN. Alot more can be said…
@observer
“Not many Muslims deny the modern Islamic world is deprived and is somewhat experiencing its dark age”
Well I’d like to hear from them, all you usually hear is Muslims whining about how sacred their prophet was, and being outraged when anyone mentions he liked his pussy young, very very very young, which is why pedophilia is rampant and usually encouraged in the Muslim world. Mohamed’s nasty example.
“Muslims would tell you that this backwardness is due to the absence of Islam”,
really, in what sense is this? The Taliban, Hamas, Hesbollah, Fatah, Syria, Iran, Iraq, the countless clerics calling for bigotry and hatred all over the world, and promoting a purely Islamic agenda, would be stunned to know that they have misinterpreted the Koran (death manual), Hadiths (more death manual), and Surah’s (even more death), why don’t you pop along to the Taliban and point out their mistake, you can feel the love first hand.
“Newton’s physics would not be possible without algebra and so on and so forth”,
lies invented by Muslims, these things were discovered by people in Muslim lands, which then, as Islam always does, squashed any progress into oblivion, giving more credence to killing, rape and thuggery than science, it still does. But even if it was true, which it isn’t, there wouldn’t have been a Islam (I wish), without paganism, they invented religion, nip over to the Middle East and point this out to Hamas, feel the love first hand.
“spiritual and intellectual depth”
yes right, there’s so much intellectual depth to Islamic society, that’s why they can’t even make their populations literate, they’d rather they memorise some dumb Arabic text.
“Alcoholism, loose morality, dog-eat-dog culture and unrestrained sexual “freedoms”
are all recipes for the collapse of civilization”
or because we allow Muslims free rein to sponge off our progress while they chisel away at free modern societies from within. Hopefully we will wise up, I sense we are, and give Islam and Muslims a dose of their own medicine, you know the Convert, Leave or Die stuff.
“Modern Muslims scientists exist but are dispersed all over the world”,
scientists who happen to be Muslims exist sure, so do Christians, and Jews, they are scientists despite their religion, not because of it, and they happen to be in the hated “hedonistic” West, what a coincidence.
Spare me the Islamic propaganda, get out there and torch a car or two, I hear someone somewhere has made another cartoon.
