1. Over 300 Ebola deaths traced back to a healer in Sierra Leone

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone – It has laid waste to the tribal chiefdoms of Sierra Leone, leaving hundreds dead, but the Ebola crisis began with just one healer’s claims to special powers.

The outbreak need never have spread from Guinea, health officials  told  AFP, except for a herbalist in the remote eastern border village of Sokoma.

“She was claiming to have powers to heal Ebola.  People from Guinea were crossing into Sierra Leone for treatment,” Mohamed Vandi, the top medical official in the hard-hit district of Kenema, told AFP.

“She got infected and died. During her funeral, women around the other towns also  got infected.”

The move would bring the United Kingdom into line with close ally Australia, whose Prime Minister Tony Abbott has sworn “to do our damndest” to ensure “trained killer… returning Jihadists” would never be allowed to return to Australia.

“I and my friends decided to leave,” 22-year-old Victor Borsolov, told NRG, after getting his 11th death threat after posting pro-Israeli views on his Facebook page.

A sickening statement by group spokesman Said Abu Hamza al-Hilali claimed that the MB had deceived itself and millions of young people, and branded the group “delinquents from the path of God.”

The statement released on underground jihad forums also called for Muslim Brotherhood activists to repent for their attempts to embrace “democracy,” and branded their views “dirty.”

    Yeah, yeah, yeah… Then a few years from now some other fruitbars are going to say that ISIS isn’t Islamic enough because they brush their teeth or drink Pepsi or something. No matter how strictly you follow Islam, someone can always come along and say they are purer than you and yada yada yada. It will never end…

    And for the record, ISIS is acting in perfect accordance with the instructions of Mohammad. ISIS guys are Muslims…

    Britain is not a republic, it is a constitutional monarchy. We are not citizens of the UK but loyal subjects of the Crown. Thus, the Crown can remove or banish any subject that is not loyal to it ( it does not matter if your lineage goes back to Saxon times).

    Such a decision, if taken by the Crown, under advice of the first minister of the Crown (the PM), cannot be challenged in the Crown courts, as the courts themselves are subjects of the Crown.

    I suppose this may be true for Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and other Commonwealth countries that still retain the Crown as head of state.

    This may be our real “get out of a bind” clause.

    We need a constitutional expert here.

    • Yes, he is correct. The Queen has a lot more people then most people realize.
      The have dubbed it the nuclear option. Meaning it is HIGHLY unlikely it would ever be used against an individual that isn’t part of parliament.

      • At the time of Henry VIII and later, QEI, many Catholics were banished from England, no recourse to the law, as they had conspired with a foreign power – Spain and the Vatican, to invade England.

        One of the points to consider, is that in the UK and its dominions, no statute is ever abolished. As statutes in the UK go back to year 1000 or thereabouts, one can see that there are plenty of statutes that the Crown (the PM acting as its agent) can use. Even parliament’s approval is not required when the Crown acts, as parliament itself, including the loyal opposition is subject to the Crown. All courts, police, armed forces are not forces of parliament, but constitutionally they are forces of the Crown.

    • The point is Nigel is addressing the situation with a common sense proposal–forcing Cameron to go along or look ineffective. I’m surprised we haven’t heard more of these kind of suggestions here in the USA

    • Interesting, I know the Queen has much more power then most people realize and that this power is rarely used. I wonder just what would happen if she does decide to use that power?

      • She did remove the Prime minister of Australia back in the 70’s I think it was. It went as smoothly as one would expect but it did go through.

        • You needn’t worry. Neither HM Queen Elizabeth, or her successors have the power. It is the PM who decides and acts. The punishment, such as banishment from the realm is then signed off by the Crown, which at the moment would be HM QEII.

          It is why I keep writing about the “Crown”, and not anyone sitting on the throne at the moment.
