Till the middle of the 20th C. universities and teaching hospitals in the USA did not welcome joooz. Yet the practice of medicine had been a traditional profession for at least a thousand years. “I think their real detonation is coming economically.” Merle placed his fifth eye on the lens of the telescope. “They’ve accumulated too much debt.”
“Yes,” said Argyle, “And President Trump is the high-stakes roller who sees himself fit for the times.”
“You don’t think he’s the man for the job?” Merle asked.
“Who else has emerged? Comes the time comes the man, as they say. I mean look at America. They produce a report that says seventy percent of the economy is consumption. It’s ridiculous. First you produce, then you consume. Equating consumption with production is absurd.”
“Agreed,” said Merle as he twiddled absently with the focus. “They’re in for a bit of a ride, and Trump is gently trying to tell the people. I mean, you don’t hear him pumping the stock market like he did in his last term, do you. And all this talk about gold…”
“Yes, look at Warren Buffet going to cash. I think he’s done this relatively quietly so to not spook the cattle.”
“Yes,” said Merle. “Now that Munger is gone I bet he’s loaded up on silver.”
“Or gold,” replied Argyle.

“Define Martian,” said Professor Fekete clearing his throat, “what do we think they are?” The class was still asleep. It was the first class of the day. Professor Fekete was fun, crazy, but you had to be in the mood for him. “Come now,” he teased, “we must have some functional parameters. Let’s try.”
“They’re aliens,” said Mr. Watson in the front row.
“Ah, yes, aliens most certainly. What is an alien?”
“Someone from another place.”
“And?”
“And, and,” Watson knew the professor was not shooting in the dark. “Someone we don’t know?”
“Alright, we don’t know them, but they know us?”
“Yes.”
“What else?” Fekete asked, pacing slowly. “Where are Martians?”
“On Mars,” said Ms. Petrusic.
“Duh,” said Watson.
“No, no,” Fekete interjected. “Nothing is of course. Martians are on Mars.”
“–So they see us from very far away, they don’t breath our air,” Petrusic felt buoyed that she had not said something stupid. She sniffed dismissively at Watson, whom she thought moderately cute, then continued. “They don’t have to worry about what we think of them or about getting into trouble over what they say.”
“Excellent!” Professor Fekete became excited.
“–Assuming these Martians are still on Mars and not on Earth,” said Watson.
“Well of course they’re on Mars,” Petrusic snorted.
“Nothing is of course.” Watson got her back. Maybe he should ask her out. “So they’re as objective as anyone can be about us. We’re, like, under their microscope.”
“So they are superior beings? asked Fekete?
“Yes,” but it’s better if they’re sort of human in the sense that we can relate to them,” said Petrusic.
“–And since they don’t breath our air–metaphorically–their objectivity isn’t suppressed by the weight of our atmosphere, of our political nonsense.” Watson slid a glance to Petrusic.
“Ah,” said Fekete, “So they are free to speak.”
“Exactly,” said Petrusic. “They’re completely free from the burdens and constraints of being human, but they are empathetic. Sort of like William Shakespeare.”
Professor Fekete’s eyes widened. “Are there Martians walking among us? How can we identify them?”
“Redheads,” said Petrusic, trying to be clever.
“Maybe, but I don’t think we can identify them,” said Petrusic. “So I think it’s a waste of time looking. All we can do is to keep trying to escape our own gravity. It’s the closest we can get,” she said as she turned in her seat so that she faced Mr. Watson directly. “Metaphorically speaking, of course.”

“Wes Moore’s star is rising as Democrats look for a comeback,” The Hill reported Thursday. “Moore’s political prospects have only gained steam in the party in recent months, as Democrats desperately try to find someone to lead them out of the wilderness, to save them.”
“Wilderness” is being kind. A recent NBC News poll found “Just over a quarter of registered voters (27%) say they have positive views of the party, which is the party’s lowest positive rating in NBC News polling dating back to 1990.”
As Politico admits, “Democrats … Should Be Very Afraid.” True. So, what are they doing about it?
Younger Democrats are pushing the Old Guard out. Nancy Pelosi surrendered Democrat leadership after ramrodding the loss of the majority, and now the knives are out for Chuck Schumer, who is “facing intense pushback from Democrats after supporting partisan Republican-crafted spending bill.”
“Couldn’t happen to a nicer pair,” gun owners (who aren’t Fudds) could say. And it’s not just the very top catching heat.
Furious Democrat constituents have been disrupting town halls and demanding to know what Party notables like Mark Kelly, Ruben, Gallego, and others, are going to do about challenging leadership, repeating narrative themes that boil down to “You’re not fighting!”

Who will fight, and not just Republicans, but their own fossilized party bosses?
“Ocasio-Cortez leads poll of Democrats on which leader ‘best reflects’ party’s ‘core values’,” The Hill reports. “Depressed Democrats Find Hope at Bernie Sanders Rallies,” The Wall Street Journal observes.
What an interesting admission on core values. That ought to play well in flyover country—all those red “MAGA” counties you see on a political map— the places urban Democrats look down their noses at and disparage as “deplorables” and worse.
“[Democrat strategist] James Carville says Dems were ‘stupid’ for ignoring rural US voters — and they ‘ought to apologize’,” the New York Post notes. Perhaps, but then again, what do they offer them, particularly the rising AOC/Bernie contingent, perhaps best journalistically represented by unabashedly leftist publications like Mother Jones, leading its pack of Antifa sympathizers with race-baiting headlines like “Are White Rural Americans the Real Threat to Democracy?”
(As an aside, Carville, squarely in the Old Guard, was “certain” Kamala Harris would win the presidency, and predicted one month ago the Trump administration would “collapse within 30 days,” so it might be in Republican interests to encourage more Democrats to listen to him.)
What’s clear is Democrats are desperate to bring their numbers up, and to do that they need a leader who is not as polarizing as the uncloseted Bolsheviks yet ticks off enough boxes to where even the radicals will have a tough time attacking him as a person (that is, resorting to their main tactic of personal destruction politics). That some think they may have found one is evidenced by The Hill’s promo piece for Wes Moore. If he can emerge as a leader in the midterms, the prospects for having a dangerous presidential challenger in 2028 go up.
The Maryland governor has a lot going for him in a game where image is everything. He’s young (46), energetic, personable, photogenic, and black, meaning any white lefty thinking of criticizing him had better think twice lest he commit the unforgiveable sin of — forget about criticizing — not kissing up. And the PR machine is already shaping a personality narrative crafted for wider media amplification:
“Wes Moore is the Captain America of Democratic politics,” said Jamal Simmons, a prominent party strategist who worked for former Vice President Kamala Harris. “He’s a veteran, an athlete and a Rhodes Scholar who still connects with everyday people. He’s the best of us but doesn’t act like he’s better than any of us,” Simmons said.
They’re building him into the new Obama.
What’s not to like if myth-building propaganda is what inspires you, that is, if you’re a typical Democrat voter? Besides, the party and its media allies will gloss over, or more likely just ignore “misunderstandings” like Moore’s lie of omission about being a Bronze Star recipient.
Being a doctrinaire Democrat, Moore is, of course, big on turning to citizen disarmament to distract the gullible from his utter inability/unwillingness to address the real reasons behind Baltimore’s routine homicides. So, headlines like “Maryland governor signs gun-control bills tightening requirements, NRA sues,” and “Maryland governor signs Biden-inspired bill establishing ‘Center for Firearm Violence Prevention’” become the routine instead.
“I’m proud to have earned the endorsement of Everytown for Gun Safety. I will be a governor whose highest priority is keeping families safe from gun violence,” Moore declared on Facebook during his campaign for governor. “#GunSenseMajority #MooreForMaryland.”
It’s tempting to look at the disarray the Democrat Party finds itself in, to declare “Woke” is dead, and that Trump’s win means a new day is upon us. Now is not the time to relax. The world doesn’t.
While we’ve seen recent moves by the Trump administration to appease gun owner concerns by “reconsidering” suppressors, presenting a “pro-gun” ATF Chief Counsel, and cleverly rendering Chuck Schumer’s appropriations rider against ATF restoring rights impotent by removing ATF from the equation, the fact that there were (and still are) gun owner concerns shows nothing can be taken for granted. Dominant parties typically suffer losses during the midterms, and there’s plenty of time for national and world disasters, combined with a hostile media, Democrat, Swamp, and Globalist machinations, apparatchik judges, Vichycon Quislings, uncontrollable acts of terror, and more to turn a critical mass of the electorate against the Republicans.
While the country as a whole may not be ready for an AOC White House bid in 2028, a potential coalition builder like Wes Moore is another matter altogether. If Democrats manage to turn things around, look for every executive action and Justice Department reconsideration on guns to be reversed. Then ,look for all-out attacks on the right to arms. And Clarence Thomas ain’t gettin’ any younger.
To gun owners: Take all political threats seriously. Barring disqualifying information coming to light, this Moore character could turn into a credible political threat. Don’t take middterms for granted. And remember, Democrats play the long and organized game.
To President Trump: Give gun owners even more reason to take your pledges to them seriously. Keep ’em coming.

The House Judiciary Committee, led by Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH-04), is planning to hold a legislative markup today, March 25, 2025 at 10 am EST. The Committee will be considering several bills during this markup, two of which are of crucial importance to law-abiding gun owners. A committee markup is often a critical step in advancing legislation to the floor of the U.S. House for passage.
The first piece of legislation up for consideration, and the NRA’s top priority, is H.R. 38, the “Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act” introduced by Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC-09). This bipartisan legislation would provide nationwide reciprocity for concealed carry license holders and for residents of Constitutional Carry states. This legislation currently has 177 cosponsors in the U.S. House.
“The U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed an individual’s fundamental right to keep and bear arms,” said John Commerford, Executive Director of NRA-ILA. “Congress should now ensure that the right to self-defense does not end at a state line. NRA applauds and thanks Representative Hudson for his longstanding and unwavering leadership in the fight for right-to-carry reciprocity.”
Another bill being considered by the Committee is H.R. 2184, the “Firearm Due Process Protection Act” introduced by Representative Tom Emmer (R-MN-06). This legislation provides legal recourse for law-abiding Americans who were improperly denied the ability to legally purchase a firearm due to administrative errors during a background check and increases congressional oversight of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). It is cosponsored by 14 of Emmer’s Republican colleagues in the House of Representatives.
“Year after year, thousands of Americans are erroneously denied their constitutional rights due to clerical errors in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS),” said John Commerford, Executive Director of the NRA-ILA. “On behalf of our millions of members and gun owners across America, we applaud Representative Tom Emmer for the introduction of this commonsense legislation which will provide law-abiding Americans a course of action to correct these errors in a timely manner while at the same time holding the FBI and its NICS system accountable to Congress.”

Miami Incident Highlights Fact Cops Have NO Duty to Protect You

Imagine you’re in the center of a mob. A bunch of punks on bicycles are beating you half to death–let’s assume you’re disarmed for some reason–and you’re not sure you’ll survive. Then you see it: A white car with flashing blue lights. You’re saved!

Only, you’re not. The officer never exits the vehicle. She just sits inside and watches, possibly recording it on the dash cam, but doing absolutely nothing else.
It’s insane, right? I mean, we’ve seen officers fail to protect people before–Parkland is a prime example in my mind–but this? This is just a fever dream on my part, right?
No, it’s not. It happened in Miami.
Days after surveillance cameras recorded a driver swarmed by a mob of cyclists in broad daylight in the heart of Miami, the city’s police department has taken action against an officer for what she is accused of failing to do.
The brouhaha went down Sunday evening along busy Biscayne Boulevard, near 14th Street.
The security footage shows a gang of angry bicyclists going berserk — beating on the motorist, breaking his windshield, jumping on and stomping on his car’s roof and hood, and using a bike to punctuate the beatdown.
Meanwhile, a Miami Police officer sat in her car with a front-row seat to the mayhem.

The assailants kicked, punched, stomped, smashed a window and even hurled a bike — all while the officer remained in her cruiser the entire time.
Some time later, other people. possibly Miami Police officers, rushed to the man’s aid. One biker got tackled, and several others pedaled off.
The female officer eventually did come out of her cruiser, once other officers arrived.
The officer who remained in her car has been suspended pending an internal investigation, and she may well end up fired, but that’s because of things like policy and public perception, not because there’s a legal duty to protect people.

Usually, that is because the police can’t protect everyone. Many officers would like to, but it’s just not feasible. If they did have such a duty, though, anyone who gets hurt would have grounds to sue the police for failing to protect them. Reasonably, many of these cases would fall apart–this one probably wouldn’t, of course–but it would be enough that it would cost the taxpayers a massive amount over nothing.
Instead, the courts have ruled they have a duty to protect society as a whole, not specific individuals.
Yes, even if they’re watching a beatdown right in front of them.
Gun control supporters tend to think that the answer to any threat is to just call the police. I happen to think that, if there’s any way to do so, you should call the cops.
I’m just realistic enough to know that even if you do, there’s no way you can guarantee they’ll be there in time or that they’ll act even if they do.
For the record, we don’t know how badly the victim in this case was injured. This seems to be a thing in Miami, so if you live in that area, be wary.
Especially since it sure looks like you can’t trust at least some police officers to do anything beyond wait for someone else to show up.

Whitmer’s Assault on Hunters Creating Real Problems for Michigan

While some people aren’t fans of hunting, the truth is that hunters are a major part of conservation efforts. Hunting keeps animal populations under control to some degree or another, which reduces various problems within a given state.

For example, when I was a kid, hunting deer meant bucks were fair game all season long, but does could only be shot on special days. Doe Days were like a hunting holiday. Everyone was in the woods to grab one, and, in time, the deer herds grew in Georgia.
Today, things are different. Deer are everywhere, and they cause a problem by crossing in front of cars and creating traffic accidents. As a result, does are fair game all year round.
In Michigan, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer doesn’t seem to be a fan of hunting, and neither is the legislature. They’re looking to raise fees even as they face a significant problem:
Exploding deer numbers are “causing big problems in suburban and urban areas of Michigan,” and many believe Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s focus on hiking fees for hunters will only make matters worse.
The issue stems from a steady decades long decline in the number of deer hunters in Michigan, which reduces the state’s license revenue while “causing big problems in suburban and urban areas of Michigan, including excessive deer car crashes … deadly car crashes, damage to homes, businesses, the environment, and major crop damage across the state,” WDIV reports.
Michigan ranks second among states for deer collision claims at roughly $130 million in damages annually, as deer-related crashes in recent years hit a decade high.

Communities are now trying to get the state’s Department of Natural Resources to step in and offer solutions.
DNR asked the public for comment. Many people suggested reducing fees and increasing access for hunting, since that would drive down the deer population, especially when people learn how tasty venison is.
Instead, DNR suggested raising the fees roughly 50 percent, because that makes perfect sense if you’re insane.
Deer collisions are a problem, they’re probably tearing up stuff in suburban neighborhoods–that rarely makes the statistics–and are becoming more than wildlife; they’re becoming a nuisance, and their answer is to make hunting harder?
Message to the Fudds: People like Whitmer will never like you. They’ll never stop at just taking our “evil black rifles.” They see you has a problem, too, and they’ll screw you over in due course. This is just how they think they can get away with it right now.
What Whitmer and Democrats in the state seem to be doing here is to make hunting more difficult, probably because anti-hunting groups are closely aligned with anti-gun groups–the Venn diagram of the two groups look like a top-down picture of a stack of pancakes–and they know who is going to donate to their future campaigns.

So, hunters get screwed, communities get screwed, and anti-hunting politicians make bank.
And then, when car insurance premiums keep going up to cover the increase in people hitting deer, they’ll try to somehow regulate that and screw everything up all over again.
That’s apparently life in Michigan these days.

This Is What I Meant When I Said Things Were Getting Ugly

On Sunday, I published a piece here saying that things are getting kind of ugly, particularly with the hatred toward Tesla. It was a warning, but I was hoping I was just being paranoid. After all, I’ve been concerned about where things were going before, and stuff settled down in time. I hoped this time would be the same.

I’d rather be worried over nothing than not worried when I should be, after all, and I figured I had an obligation to at least mention it where others might start thinking about it. Assuming, of course, they hadn’t already.
But when I talked about where things were going, I was talking about stuff like this from our sister site, Hot Air:
Remember when Donald Trump’s candidacy supposedly represented lawlessness and a threat to democracy? Good times, good times.
In yet more evidence of a case of projection, Austin police discovered multiple “incendiary devices” planted at the local Tesla dealership. Police successfully removed the devices, which means that they may have not just saved a few electric vehicles — they may have preserved some key evidence for the FBI. “Incendiary devices” mean bombs in common parlance:
APD said it responded to a call about suspicious devices at the showroom around 8:04 a.m. Monday. The APD bomb squad was called out to investigate.
The devices were “determined to be incendiary” and were taken by police without incident, APD said.

Yes, bombs.
Now, Molotov cocktails are bad, but the nature of them tends to mean that people know good and well that there’s no one around when they use one–or, conversely, that someone is present. Using one is a violent act, but it’s still a thing that gives the user at least some control over who all is going to be hurt by the cocktail when it’s thrown.
After that, all bets are off, which is why we don’t really treat them as a nothingburger.
But bombs are an escalation. These are intended to go off at a later time. It doesn’t say if they were meant for remote detonation or on a timer, but what we know is that these aren’t necessarily controlled and can be much more destructive.
Further, if this was on a timer, then it means the person who planted them didn’t give a damn about the potential loss of human life. It’s very possible that even with a remote destination, the bomber didn’t, either, but there’s no way he could be sure no one would be hurt if it’s on a timer. Even some more schlub walking by in the middle of the night, or someone driving by, could be injured or killed by the blast and shrapnel, and there’s no evidence the person who made these things cared.

Another unfortunate thing is that bombs aren’t really a threat we can meet with a concealed carry weapon. If one goes off, drawing and firing isn’t really helpful, especially as there’s no one to shoot. The dangerous person is long gone.
But situational awareness can help. Many of us do things to try and improve our situational awareness, and this is a prime example of how else to use that effort. Keep an eye out for suspicious packages and objects. Notify the authorities if you see anything that looks out of place, particularly around Tesla dealerships, but not just there. I suspect that, in time, we’ll see this sort of thing spread.

Both of these tactics will be used as will the tactic of rioters surrounding a car and smashing the windows, slashing the tires ect while the driver is setting in the car. In some states it is legal for the driver to hit the gas and knock the rioters out of the way but you need to check what the law in your state says about this counter tactic.

Today, news broke that the sole surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect, Dzokhar Tsarnaev, has admitted to investigators that he and his brother Tamerlan learned to make pressure cooker bombs by reading Inspire, which ran a detailed feature about explosive-building in its debut issue under the headline “Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom.”
During the 70s and 80s there were several books/pamphlets that told you the ingredients to buy and the step by step process to make both plastic explosives and nitroglycerin. They then gave you step by step instructions on how to make bombs and various types of land mines.
I haven’t visited the book stores that stocked books like that this century so I don’t know if they are still in print. I do know that there are videos on youtube on how to make black powder. They are for the people who like to shoot muzzle loaders, it is getting harder to find commercially made black powder.

CNN reported over the weekend that, according to three inside sources, FBI Director Kash Patel, additionally serving as acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), has outlined plans that would reposition as many as 1000 ATF agents over to the FBI. The move would diminish the number of ATF agents by over a third, signaling the possibility of reconfiguring the firearms infringement agency into a more regulatory role, like the DMV.
To put the alleged cutback into perspective, the ATF has employed consistent numbers of agents, approximately 2600, and overall employees, more than 5000, for quite a number of years. While there is no indication of support staff cuts, an agent reduction of this magnitude is relatively substantial.
Pro-Second Amendment groups are predictably rejoicing in the possibilities, as law-abiding citizens have lived under the tyrannical thumb of the ATF for years, from the agency’s targeting of gun owners and endless attempts to criminalize Constitutionally protected activities to the arbitrary and prohibitive nature of NFA form filing and wait times. While we’re trimming the fat and loading up the cutting room floor, the administration should retask Form 4 background checks and tax stamp processing to dealers who already use the FBI’s NICS system daily, allowing those approved purchases on the spot and alleviating the need for the entire NFA branch.
Of course, I can’t make that suggestion without mentioning that the NFA, as with the GCA and the Hughes Amendment, are black eyes on any administration that asks citizens for their trust while overseeing programs that violate the rights that the government is sworn to protect and defend. Sorry, but I’m a realist when it comes to these things. I may recognize the value of incremental steps, but I am uncompromising when it comes to the Constitution and don’t take consolation prizes kindly.
According to one of CNN’s sources, restructuring begins with reassigning several hundred ATF agents to the FBI for border-related criminal enforcement duties. The network also claims its release of the story has sparked pushback from within the government, which may have altered some of the FBI’s plans.
“The ATF will temporarily assign approximately 150 agents from existing field offices to other ATF field offices, where they will continue serving as ATF agents to support the surge initiative… It is important to clarify that this is a temporary reassignment of resources to bolster public safety and combat criminal organizations more effectively. Additionally, ATF routinely initiates surge operations in cities across the country facing significant increases in violent crime… These targeted operations are a proven strategy to disrupt criminal activity, apprehend offenders, and support local law enforcement efforts,” ATF spokeswoman Ashlee J L Sherrill told CNN, disputing the details of the network’s other sources.
Perhaps Ashlee didn’t get the memo, however, as the reassignment’s lack of an end date calls into question the nature of any temporary status. At the moment, the FBI and DOJ are remaining silent.
President Trump selected Patel with plans to overhaul the FBI, an agency embroiled in controversy over the last decade as it has clearly been weaponized against Americans and political opponents of the left. With difficulty confirming candidates for the ATF’s top seat in the Senate, Patel was later announced as the acting ATF director, prompting speculation of some level of possible merger between the two agencies. Hopefully, Americans will not be left with a reorganized mess and further confused bureaucracy but rather experience a shift back to values and the integrity of federal law enforcement. Any effort and progress made must be protected through future elections and the exposure and removal of those working within our government against the best interest of American liberty.
