  1. Yesterday we saw here another brazen drug store robbery by young thugs. A friend sent a video I won’t bother showing. Their faces are masked, as is the rule of law that does not hold them accountable. It’s a repeat performance of what we have seen south of the border for some time. It is comforting to know that American trends eventually and inevitably find their way to Canada. I’m still waiting for freedom of speech and the right to bear arms to arrive at my door. Maybe Canada Post has them, but they’re just mixed up temporarily with fatherless punks who can use a good beating.

It is too strong to say that I revel in them, but small acts of random, wanton kindness and civility breaking out between strangers I find to be very gratifying. It’s like finding a dull old silver quarter or dime in your pocket at the end of the day. Rare, and good to know it still exists.

The other day I was looking at chicken legs. No, not my own, but ones at the grocery store. An old lady was checking out the steaks beside me. “Expensive, eh?” I said.

Sometimes it surprises me when someone who looks really old doesn’t match the voice that comes out of them. I expect to hear a dim and frail voice, but then I hear a brightness and sharpness speaking to me. “–Sure is,” she replied, “I’m looking for a ribeye but I don’t see any.”

For a moment I looked over the beef to see if I could find what she was looking for. Maybe her old eyes weren’t what they used to be. “Oh, there ya go,” she said reaching in front of me. She had spotted the ribeye right under my nose. “Now for my wine and then I’m done.”

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Conservatives can now take comfort that the United States government is taking their grave concerns about being swatted by radical leftists seriously.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, several conservative figures including Nick Sortor, Gunther Eagleman, and Shawn Farash have been swatted over the past several days.

The latest swatting incident happened this morning involving Infowars host Owen Shroyer. A fake police report claimed Shroyer had shot someone.

This led to a full-blown armed raid on his residence, with at least a dozen officers storming his home with weapons drawn.

All of this comes after Infowars journalist Jamie White was brutally murdered in Austin early last week. Independent journalist Breanna Morello notes there have been more swatting incidents, but several conservatives remain scared to come forward.

Now, Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has broken her silence in a big way regarding these sinister criminal attacks on those practicing journalism and expressing politically incorrect views.

In a post on X this afternoon, Noem minced no words on what was in store for these leftist losers.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, we will not sit idly by as conservative new media and their families are being targeted by false swatting,” Noem wrote. @DHSgov
has the ability to trace phone numbers and track location information. We will use it to hunt these cowards down.”

“This is an attack on our law enforcement and innocent families and we will prosecute it as such,” she added.

Her strong words come after FBI director Kash Patel responded to the attacks five days earlier and used similar language.

Words, though, need to be followed with decisive action. No American should have to live in fear for exercising their First Amendment rights.

    • InfoWars Host Owen Shroyer SWATTED: Armed Police Raid Home, Aim Guns at Him

InfoWars host Owen Shroyer became the latest victim of a “swatting” incident at his home in Austin, Texas in what he calls a “terrorist attack” perpetrated by leftist extremists.

A fake police report claiming Shroyer had shot someone led to a full-blown armed raid on his residence, with at least a dozen officers storming his home with weapons drawn.

Shroyer took to social media to describe the horrifying ordeal.

      Shroyer:
“I was just swatted. I figured that this was coming.

      […]

Here’s what happened. First, I want to say that I appreciate the Austin police—they had to do their job, and they were professional enough. The situation could have been worse. I did get handcuffed. I had to crawl on the ground, got some scrapes and dirt on me, but it could have been a lot worse. I think they recognized what was happening relatively soon.

A couple of the police officers knew who I was, but they still had to do their job. The fake police report that was filed claimed that I had shot someone in my house. That’s obviously not true. I’m here alone. I live alone.

It could have been a lot worse, but they did enter my house with guns drawn—probably about 12 or so officers on the scene. They tore my house up a little bit, so I’ll have to clean that up. But I want to just say this: this has got to stop. I think, at this point, it has been dozens of people who have been swatted.”

Shroyer pointed fingers directly at the Democrat Party, naming names and calling for federal authorities to act.

“We know what’s going on. The Democrat Party and all of their little street thugs—funded by Act Blue, stolen money from USAID, George Soros, and other groups—are behind it. They are behind the terror attacks against Elon Musk,” he said.

Shroyer also called out the DOJ, the FBI, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, demanding an investigation into what he describes as a RICO-level criminal operation within the Democrat Party.

      Shroyer:
“Where is the Department of Justice? Where is the FBI?

      […]

I’m looking right at you, Pam Bondi. I’m looking right at the FBI. What is it going to take? Is somebody going to have to die before you actually do something? We’re dealing with a criminal organization. We’re dealing with a terrorist organization. It’s called the Democrat Party. Do you want to start acting accordingly?

Look at what they’ve done to Trump. Look at what they’ve done to Musk. Look at what they’re doing to Trump supporters.

Shroyer also revealed that the federal government stripped him of his right to bear arms over a misdemeanor trespassing charge related to the Jan. 6 event. Even after receiving credible death threats, the federal court refused to restore his Second Amendment rights.

      Shroyer:
“This is not the first time something like this has happened to me. I get death threats at my house all the time.

You want to know how messed up it really is?

I get credible death threats to my house all the time. Then, I show a federal judge. And in case you didn’t know this—I don’t like to talk about this because there are others still going through it—but it’s time to just clear the air.

They took my Second Amendment rights away over a misdemeanor trespassing charge. They took my guns. I was getting death threats to my house and my phone. We submitted that evidence to a federal court to assert my right to self-defense, and they denied me. They denied me.”

      • Imagine what would happen if this were an _IT_. Or something with a beard w/o mustache or something with a rag on its head.

        • The left would be screaming.

The left is hoping or if religious praying that the person swatted is killed, hopefully Pam Bondi can find who is making the calls and flip them to testify against the people who are giving the orders.

          • Only one religion would get them praying for something like that. And they’d be afraid to raise their rear-ends near such comrades.

  3. CHECKMATE: DOGE Worker Takes Senior Leadership Position at USAID as Radical Judge Rules Musk, DOGE Likely Violated Constitution When it Shut Down Agency
    thegatewaypundit.com/2025/03/checkmate-doge-worker-takes-senior-leadership-position-usaid/

A DOGE worker has taken a senior leadership position at USAID as a radical judge ruled Elon Musk and DOGE likely violated the US Constitution when it shut down the agency.

On Tuesday Theodore Chuang, an Obama appointee, ordered Elon Musk and DOGE to reinstate all of USAID’s functionality.

The lawsuit was brought by current and former USAID workers.

Judge Chuang said DOGE’s decision to shut down USAID violated the Constitution’s Appointments Clause and the Separation of Powers.

The plaintiffs argued that Elon Musk is operating with unchecked power since he is not Senate-confirmed — and that since Elon Musk is not Senate-confirmed, he should be barred from issuing orders to anyone inside of the executive branch.

The judge also barred DOGE from any further actions related to USAID’s closure.

“For the foregoing reasons, the Court finds that Defendants’ action s taken to shut down USAID on an accelerated basis, including its apparent decision to permanently close USAID headquarters without the approval of a duly appointed USAID Officer, likely violate the United States Constitution in multiple ways, and that these actions harmed not only Plaintiffs, but also the public interest, because they deprived the public’s elected representatives in Congress of their constitutional authority to decide whether, when, and how close down an agency created by Congress,” the Judge wrote in a 68-page ruling.

It appears DOGE figured out a way to checkmate the judge: A senior DOGE official has now taken over USAID and will have authority over the agency.

In an email obtained by the Associated Press, Pete Marocco, a Trump appointee in the State Department who was serving in a leadership role at USAID revealed the change.

The email was sent on the same day Judge Chuang issued his absurd ruling.

    The AP reported:

A senior official at Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is taking a leadership role at the U.S. Agency for International Development, giving DOGE direct authority over an agency that it has worked to dismantle, according to an email obtained by The Associated Press.

Pete Marocco, a Trump administration political appointee who was serving as deputy head of USAID, disclosed the change in the email to State Department staff. It comes after Marocco and DOGE oversaw the gutting of 83% of USAID contracts, shifting the remaining programs under the State Department.

Marocco said in his email that he will serve as the State Department’s head of foreign assistance.

Marocco wrote that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will “effective immediately” designate Jeremy Lewin as deputy administrator for policy and programs at USAID and as chief operating officer.

The failed vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz is openly rooting against American manufacturing.

Walz, who remains the governor of Minnesota, told an audience on Tuesday that seeing a decline in Tesla’s stock price makes him happy.

“I don’t know if some of you know this on the iPhone; they’ve got that little stock app,” Walz said in what appeared to be some sort of comedic routine.

”I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day. $2.25 and dropping!

”And if you own one, if you own one, we’re not blaming you. You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla thing off, you know, just telling you.”

    — Tim Walz (@Tim_Walz) March 19, 2025

After reaching record highs in the wake of President Trump’s historic victory, Tesla’s share price has slipped back in recent weeks as the left-wing establishment ramped up their attacks against Elon Musk and his companies.

Nevertheless, the company is still valued at more than the next five car companies combined, with an estimated market value of $750 billion.

Last week, President Trump said he would start classifying attacks against Tesla vehicles and dealerships as a form of domestic terrorism.

Elon Musk is currently heading up the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is working to root out the widespread waste and fraud across the federal government.

Despite the humiliating defeat he suffered alongside Kamala Harris in November, Walz remains more belligerent than ever and is reportedly considering his own presidential run in 2028.

In an appearance on Gavin Newsom’s podcast this week, tough guy Walz claimed he could beat up most Trump supporters.

“You got to respect people you disagree with,” Newsom said. “You can’t just dismiss people.”

“How do we fight it?” Walz retorted. “I think I could kick most of their a**es!”

  5. Judicial Coup: Radical Leftist Judges Wage All-Out War Against President Trump and the Nation — 129 Legal Challenges Filed in Two Months, MORE THAN ALL US PRESIDENTS COMBINED!
    thegatewaypundit.com/2025/03/judicial-insurrection-radical-leftist-judges-wage-all-war/
    Mar. 19, 2025 8:00 am
Maniacal DC Obama Judges Beryll Howell and her running dog James Boasberg – a picture of pure liberal insanity.

Since returning to the White House on January 20, 2025, President Donald J. Trump has been met with an unprecedented onslaught of legal challenges from far-left activist judges and groups determined to sabotage his second term in power.

Appearing on The War Room with Steve Bannon, Josh Hammer, Senior Counsel for the Article III Project, recently warned that what America is witnessing is not just judicial activism—it’s an outright judicial insurrection.

This is similar to how the communist left attacked President Trump using a cadre of radical activist judges his first time in office. Except today, they have super-charged the process.

Not even two months in office, these radical extremist judges continue to coordinate their efforts and wreak havoc on the Trump administration and the United States.

So far, the Supreme Court has failed to shut down the lawlessness of these far-left activists.

In fact, on Tuesday we saw Chief Justice John Roberts siding with these radical communists and lecturing President Trump on his response to this complete lawlessness.

Democrats and their radical communist judges are tearing apart the country, and Roberts is attacking President Trump! What is going on?

Attorney Josh Hammer: “Let me just lay the scene briefly here. What we’re seeing is not just judicial activism, Steve. I used the words very carefully there. I mean, this is a full-on judicial insurrection, going back to the very first days of this administration in power.

By the way, those of us with a long enough memory to remember the first Trump administration. This is nothing new.

The first Trump administration from 2017 to 2021, faced, by my count, I believe, it was 65 so-called nationwide injunctions, which, by the way, is more than the first 44 presidents of the United States combined, literally in all of American history, faced there.

They basically picked up in January, just last month, as if they hadn’t lost a beat over the past four years. Whether it’s a judge in Washington State or Ohio or Washington DC or Florida, or Hawaii, the notion that you can issue a TRO, a temporary restraining order, and thereby try to bring a federal executive branch policy and executive order to halt. It’s completely anathema. It’s bat-crap crazy. That’s not how the separation of powers works.”

Activist Judge Chutkan ruled last week that state attorneys general can access information about DOGE employees working to cut waste and fraud in government. Chutkan put a target on the backs of these genius kids so violent leftists could pursue them on the streets of America. What a horrible woman!

Crazed America-hating Judge Beryl Howell blocked President Trump from banning far-left law firm Perkins Coie from all government business and buildings. Perkins Coie was central in the scam to take down President Trump his first term in office with their Russia-Putin hoax.

Today alone 4 federal judges ordered:
    a) Elon Musk to reinstate USAID workers;
    b) Trump to state disclose when/where flights left w/ terrorists;
    c) reinstatement of transgender to military;
    d) reinstatement of Dep’t of Education grants.

    — Margot Cleveland (@ProfMJCleveland) March 19, 2025

And Judge James Boasberg is ordering President Trump to bring planeloads of murderers, rapists and gang members back into the United States. His hatred for America is now out in the open for all to see!

Josh Hammer noted that the first Trump administration, from 2017 to 2021 faced 65 nationwide injunctions.

President Trump, in less than two months, has faced 129 legal challenges by activist judges. Only two cases are closed.

The full list of 129 legal challenges is included on the Just Security website.

US News is also tracking the lawsuits against the Trump administration.

Trending: Here Are Some of the Biggest Bombshells Uncovered by Internet Sleuths in the Newly Released JFK Files

According to Elon Musk’s Grok AI:

Historical analysis suggests that fewer than 10 presidents before Trump faced direct, personal legal challenges.
A conservative estimate, accounting for documented cases and likely unreported minor lawsuits, might place the total number of legal challenges—broadly defined as lawsuits, impeachment efforts, or significant court disputes—against all pre-Trump presidents at around 20 to 30 over 227 years (1789–2017). This figure is speculative, as no definitive tally exists, and it pales in comparison to Trump’s legal entanglements.

The far-left judicial insurrectionists and institutions have already filed 129 legal challenges against President Trump less than two months into his second term. This is more than twice as many legal challenges that he went through during his first full term.

It is obvious that this is a coordinated attack by the far-left to destroy Trump’s all-star administration and the nation.

And, Chief Justice Roberts is lecturing President Trump?

Greg Gutfeld had it right Tuesday when he told Roberts to “Shut the eff up!”

Elon Musk calls out violence by the left, “There’s some mental illness thing going on here because this doesn’t make any sense.”

Elon Musk joined Sean Hannity on FOX News last night after his company rescued two astronauts stranded on the space station by Joe Biden for nine months.

Only Elon Musk could make this happen.

Elon explained to Sean Hannity why he joined with President Trump to clean up Washington DC.

    Yes https://t.co/lCMayxTaxA

    — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 19, 2025

So far Musk’s DOGE operatives have saved the country over $100 billion in waste and fraud in government.

But rather than celebrating Musk, the left and Democrats were out burning Teslas and torching dealerships. Elon calls this a mental disease and he’s right.

Sean Hannity: I woke up this morning and saw that Teslas were put ablaze in one of your dealerships in Vegas. I’ve seen this happen all over the country. Bullets are being fired, charging stations are put ablaze, Teslas are being put ablaze. You have experienced threats of assassination for you and your family. What have you done that warrants this? Because I see nothing that you have done except help country.

Elon Musk: Yeah. I mean, it’s really come as quite a shock to me that there is this level of really hatred and violence from the left. I always thought the left Democrats were supposed to be the party of empathy, the party of caring, and yet they’re burning down cars, they’re firebombing dealerships, they’re firing bullets into dealerships, they’re smashing up Teslas.

Tesla is a peaceful company. We’ve never done anything harmful. I’ve never done anything awful. I’ve only done productive things. I think we just have a deranged… There’s some mental illness thing going on here because this doesn’t make any sense. I think there are larger forces at work as well. I don’t know who’s funding it and who’s coordinating it because this is crazy. I’ve never seen anything like this.

Sean Hannity: You actually tweet it out, and I’ll put it on the screen. “The level of violence is insane. It is deeply wrong. Tesla just makes electric cars and has done nothing to deserve these evil attacks.”

  7. Media’s Shocking Double Standard, Where Are the Calls to End ‘Knife Violence’
Ammoland Inc. Posted on March 19, 2025 by Alan Gottlieb
    Knife Attack

BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is pointing to media hypocrisy in its reporting of at least ten attacks involving knives or hatchets, most of them fatal, yet there was not a single mention of “knife violence,” indicating an appalling double-standard in how violent crime involving firearms is routinely portrayed, whether by broadcast or print media.

“We checked ten different reports regarding fatal and non-fatal knife attacks, all over the country,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “and not a single report included the term ‘knife violence’ anywhere in the text. Yet pick up any newspaper, read any online report involving the criminal use of a firearm, and by the time you’re finished, you will have seen at least one reference to ‘gun violence.’
I can only conclude the media has a deplorable double-standard when it comes to reporting homicides involving guns, yet the victims are just as injured or dead.

“Underscoring this nonsense,” he said, “is the way the media is reporting the Department of Health and Human Services’ removal of a former surgeon general’s warning that ‘gun violence’ is a public health hazard. Gun ownership is not a communicable disease. Putting that warning on the HHS website was just one more effort by the Biden administration to demonize firearms and the people who own them.

“The term ‘gun violence’ was invented by the gun prohibition lobby in order to create the illusion that guns are bad, and that gun owners need to be carefully monitored as if they are carriers of some plague,” Gottlieb continued. “Sadly, newsrooms all over the map have embraced the term, making it part of their vocabulary, to the point that one might find multiple references in a single news report or editorial. Indeed, the frequency one sees ‘gun violence’ mentioned on the air, in print or during political speeches has reached the point of absurdity.

“In each of the stabbing reports we studied,” he observed, “suspects were identified and nobody remotely suggested the knife or hatchet involved was somehow responsible. Yet, criminal attacks, suicides, and mishaps involving firearms all routinely fall within the loose definition of so-called ‘gun violence.’ It’s ridiculous.
“While everyone seems so eager to restrict gun ownership,” Gottlieb noted, “literally anyone can buy a knife, no questions asked. What’s important is that neither guns or knives are the problem. It’s the people who misuse them. The antidote to crime is to punish the criminals, not penalize law-abiding citizens who have harmed nobody.”

  8. Iran-Linked Hack Exposes Israeli Gun Owners—A Warning Against Gun Registries Everywhere
Ammoland Inc. Posted on March 19, 2025 by Ammoland Editors & Staff

    YouTube video player

A massive cyberattack, allegedly orchestrated by Iranian hackers, has exposed sensitive personal data on thousands of Israeli gun owners, raising alarms about national security and the dangers of centralized gun databases.

The breach, first reported by Israeli media, compromised records from government agencies and private security firms, making names, addresses, firearm details, and even military and medical backgrounds available online.

The implications of this breach are severe. Not only are private citizens at risk, but so are security personnel and law enforcement officers whose classified details were included in the leak. Cybersecurity experts warn that anyone identified as a gun owner is now vulnerable to criminal targeting, home invasions, and even politically motivated violence.

    The Dangers of Gun Registries

This breach serves as yet another example of why centralized gun registries are a threat—not just to privacy but to public safety. History shows that firearm registries, whether maintained by private companies or government agencies, are prime targets for bad actors. When a government or hostile force gets its hands on a gun registry, it becomes a roadmap for disarming civilians, persecuting political opponents, or enabling criminal enterprises.

Gun rights advocates in the United States have long warned about the dangers of government gun databases. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has faced scrutiny over its nearly billion-record firearm registry, a digital archive of gun purchases that exists despite federal prohibitions against such a system.
    SCROLL DOWN TO CONTINUE READING

Lawmakers and gun rights groups correctly argue that such registries pave the way for future gun confiscations, particularly under anti-gun administrations looking to tighten restrictions.

From Israel to the U.S.: A Shared Concern

The Israeli data breach mirrors concerns that have been raised for years in the United States. The ATF’s database, combined with efforts to track firearm transactions indefinitely, could one day be weaponized against law-abiding gun owners. Cases like this hack demonstrate why the Second Amendment exists—not just as a safeguard against crime but as a bulwark against government overreach and potential tyranny.

Gun owners in the U.S. should take this as a cautionary tale. If hostile foreign actors can compromise Israeli security databases, what’s stopping similar groups—or even an overreaching domestic agency—from misusing American gun owner data? The best way to protect gun owners from cyber threats, government overreach, and criminal targeting is simple: don’t maintain a registry in the first place.

    The Call to Action

As lawmakers debate firearm regulations, the Israeli breach should serve as a wake-up call. Protecting gun owner privacy isn’t always about protecting individual rights—it’s about ensuring that Americans aren’t put in the same vulnerable position as their Israeli counterparts. The push to dismantle the ATF’s illegal gun registry must continue, and gun owners must remain vigilant in resisting any effort to create backdoor databases that track legal firearm ownership.

The lesson from Israel is clear: centralized gun registries will always be a liability. In an era of cyber warfare, government overreach, and escalating global conflicts, safeguarding the Second Amendment isn’t just about the right to bear arms—it’s about the right to privacy, security, and freedom itself.

Hollywood legend Mel Gibson has found himself at the center of a heated Second Amendment debate, as his fight to restore his gun rights has ignited controversy within the Trump Department of Justice (DOJ).

The Oscar-winning actor, best known for Braveheart and Lethal Weapon, lost his firearm privileges after a 2011 misdemeanor domestic violence conviction. Now, under President Donald Trump’s administration, efforts to restore his rights have become a political flashpoint, drawing criticism from anti-gun activists while fueling the broader discussion about the rights of non-violent felons and those with past convictions.
A Justice Department Shakeup Over Gun Rights

The debate intensified when former DOJ Pardon Attorney Elizabeth Oyer claimed she was fired for refusing to recommend Gibson’s gun rights restoration. Oyer, a Biden-era appointee, [her office is the one that oversaw Hunter Biden being pardoned for his gun crimes.] alleges that senior Trump administration officials pressured her to include Gibson in a list of individuals slated for firearm rights reinstatement.

She refused, citing concerns about his 2011 domestic violence charge, and was subsequently dismissed.

DOJ officials, however, have resisted Oyer’s claims, stating that her termination was unrelated to the Gibson case. Nevertheless, left-leaning media outlets have amplified her allegations, portraying the issue as another instance of political favoritism.

Yet, for many pro-Second Amendment advocates, the real story isn’t about Hollywood politics—it’s about the broader issue of restoring constitutional rights to those who have served their time.

    The Case for Second Chances

Federal law prohibits individuals convicted of felonies and certain domestic violence misdemeanors from owning firearms. The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment [named after one of America’s most anti-gun Senators in history and now deceased, Frank Lautenberg] permanently bars those with domestic violence convictions from possessing guns, even if the charge was a misdemeanor and even if decades have passed without further incidents. This has long been a contentious issue, with gun rights advocates arguing that blanket bans are unconstitutional and prevent reformed individuals from protecting themselves and their families.

Recent court cases, such as Range v. Garland and United States v. Duarte, have challenged these restrictions, particularly for non-violent offenders. The Supreme Court’s Rahimi decision reaffirmed that firearm bans should only apply to individuals who pose a clear and present danger. Many argue that Gibson, whose conviction was more than a decade ago and involved no firearm, should not be permanently stripped of his rights.
A Political Battle Disguised as a Legal One

The attempt to restore Gibson’s gun rights has turned into a political battle, with Trump’s opponents using the case to attack the administration’s approach to justice reform. The actor’s connection to Trump—who recently named him a “Special Ambassador to Hollywood”—has only fueled the fire. Critics argue that Gibson’s case is receiving preferential treatment, while conservatives point out that the DOJ’s resistance to restoring his rights highlights the broader problem with how gun laws unfairly target certain groups.

Gun rights supporters emphasize that if felons can have their voting rights restored, they should also be able to regain their right to bear arms. The hypocrisy of allowing individuals to shape public policy at the ballot box while denying them the means to protect themselves is a growing concern among Second Amendment advocates.
The Bigger Picture: A Fight for All Americans

Regardless of one’s opinion on Gibson himself, his case has become a test for how far courts and lawmakers are willing to go in recognizing that gun rights are fundamental and not privileges to be arbitrarily revoked. The battle over felon firearm rights is far from over, and Gibson’s case may serve as a precedent for thousands of others seeking to reclaim their constitutional protections.

As legal battles over gun rights continue, one thing is clear: the fight for the Second Amendment isn’t just about celebrities—it’s about ensuring that all Americans, regardless of past mistakes, are given a fair chance to exercise their rights.

  10. Bondi Proposes ‘Clean Slate’ to Process of Restoring Gun Rights
    By Cam Edwards | 1:31 PM | March 19, 2025

Attorney General Pam Bondi is advocating for a “clean slate” when it comes to the federal restoration of Second Amendment rights in a proposed rule slated to soon be published in the Federal Register.

Under the proposed rule, the moribund process of rights restoration through an application to the ATF would be rescinded, which isn’t that big a change since the system as essentially been unfunded and unable to be used for more than 30 years. What Bondi is hoping to do is to come up with a new system for rights restoration that would actually be available for those hoping to regain their Second Amendment rights, and the anti-gunners are already losing their minds over the proposed change.

Again, there’s already a process by which prohibited persons can regain their right to possess a firearm under federal law. It just hasn’t been funded in decades. Platkin and other anti-gunners may be fine with that, but courts across the country have already determined that the lifetime prohibition is unconstitutional, at least in some circumstances like non-violent felons or those convicted of a misdmeanor offense punishable by more than a year in prison.

As for Platkin’s assertion that the proposed rule would put guns back in the hands of violent criminals and domestic abusers, let’s look at what the proposed rule actually says:

In Executive Order 14206 of February 6, 2025 (Protecting Second Amendment Rights), the President reaffirmed our national commitment to “[t]he Second Amendment [as] an indispensable safeguard of security and liberty,” and directed that “[w]ithin 30 days of the date of this order, the Attorney General shall examine all orders, regulations, guidance, plans, international agreements, and other actions of executive departments and agencies (agencies) to assess any ongoing infringements of the Second Amendment rights of our citizens.”

Consistent with this Order and with the Department’s own strong support for all constitutional rights, including “the right of the people to keep and bear arms” enshrined in the Second Amendment, the Department has begun that review process in earnest and will provide the President with a plan as required by Order 14206. The Department simultaneously recognizes that no constitutional right is limitless; consequently, it also supports existing laws that ensure, for example, that violent and dangerous persons remain disabled from lawfully acquiring firearms.

That alone is enough to debunk Platkin’s claim, but the details of Bondi’s proposal make it clear that not every prohibited person will regain their Second Amendment rights even if the rule is adopted.

Although the specific contours of any new approach to the implementation of 18 U.S.C. 925(c) may be refined through future rulemaking, the Attorney General has determined, in an exercise of her discretion under the HSA and 28U.S.C. 509–510, that the appropriate first step is to withdraw the delegation to ATF to administer section 925(c) and withdraw the moribund regulations governing individual applications to ATF for 18 U.S.C. 925(c) relief. Consistent with that rider, the process described under 27 CFR178.144 will not be transferred to any other agency or Department. At the same time, the statute speaks clearly that the authority provided in 18 U.S.C. 925(c) is conferred on the Attorney General, and no applicable statute restricts the Attorney General’s authority in these circumstances to delegate that authority or withdraw a prior delegation or amend prior rules. Thus, the Attorney General is withdrawing her delegation of authority to ATF to implement 18U.S.C. 925(c) by revising a delegation of authority in 28 CFR 0.130 and removing 27 CFR478.144.

Revising 28 CFR 0.130 and removing 27 CFR 478.144 further provides the Department a clean slate on which to build a new approach to implementing 18 U.S.C. 925(c) without the baggage of no-longer-necessary procedures—e.g., a requirement to file an application “in triplicate,” 27 CFR 478.144(b). With such a clean slate, the Department anticipates future actions, including rulemaking consistent with applicable law, to give full effect to 18 U.S.C.925(c) while simultaneously ensuring that violent or dangerous individuals remain disabled from lawfully acquiring firearms.

The proposed rule is just a first step in developing a system that actually works in practice, and not just in theory. The details of what would replace the current (and unfunded) system aren’t laid out in the proposal, so we don’t know exactly what it will look like, but it’s not just going to wipe the slate clean for every person prohibited under federal law from possessing or purchasing a firearm.

  11. NRA President: It’s Time for National Reciprocity
    By Tom Knighton | 2:29 PM | March 19, 2025

As a Georgia resident, I’m not required to have a concealed carry permit. Most of the states I travel to have permitless carry of some sort, too.

But not every state does, and reciprocity means some of those states will recognize my Georgia permit just fine.

The problem is that while my driver’s license is recognized throughout the nation, my carry permit isn’t. In some states, it’s pretty much impossible for a non-resident to carry a firearm lawfully. My privilege of driving is preserved throughout the nation, but my right to keep and bear arms?

    Not so much.

At America’s 1st Freedom, NRA president Bob Barr says now is the time to change that.

We have now reached another crucial point in the concealed-carry movement. It is time to eliminate the patchwork of state laws that makes it nearly impossible for lawful Americans to travel from one state to another without having to choose between risking their lives by leaving their firearms at home or jeopardizing their freedom by inadvertently violating the law in more-restrictive states.

Unlike most rights enumerated in the Constitution, rights protected by the Second Amendment are often regulated differently by each individual state. While the rights to speech, religion and protections under due process or search and seizure remain consistent and do not end at a state’s border, gun rights vary from state to state. Although reciprocity agreements may exist between states, they often change, which can create additional confusion.

One avenue for ending this sordid situation is the recent legislation introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) and in the U.S. Senate by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas).

The “Constitutional Carry Reciprocity Act” (H.R. 38 and S. 65) seeks to establish nationwide reciprocity for concealed-carry license holders and residents of constitutional-carry states. More than 120 of Rep. Hudson’s colleagues have signed on as sponsors of this bipartisan initiative in the House, while in the Senate, Sen. Cornyn’s measure already boasts 44 co-sponsors.

Some pro-gun-rights advocates have been skeptical of reciprocity proposals in the past, fearing that gun owners in constitutional-carry states who chose not to renew their permits would be left out in the cold. However, H.R. 38 has no such drawbacks. If you can legally carry in your state of residence, then under this law, you could legally carry anywhere in the nation.

There are some other concerns about national reciprocity, namely that once the feds get into talking about concealed carry, they’ll start introducing restrictions to it. I get the concern.

My own take is that there’s nothing to stop them from trying to do that here and now beyond the fact that they don’t have the votes to make it happen.

The truth is that if this bill is as described, we should be good to go. I’d love to walk around California, carrying lawfully without a permit, and knowing that I’m perfectly legal despite the state’s best efforts.

Of course, I find it interesting that Barr is pushing the bill introduced by Cornyn–the man most responsible for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act–instead of Rep. Thomas Massie’s National Constitutional Carry Act. That bill would end permits entirely, including in anti-gun states like California, New York, and New Jersey, where they’re still trying to make it as difficult as possible to carry a firearm lawfully.

Maybe it’s because Barr thinks this is an easier sell in Congress versus Massie’s bill.

To be fair, I’ll take either one at this point. It’s all the same to me.

I still prefer Massie’s bill, though, because there are a lot of people out there who won’t benefit from the Hudson/Cornyn bill.

Gaza war renewed: Will the war spread to Lebanon and Syria? | True East

  14. Quote from Saul Bellows’ only nonfiction book written in 1975 after a trip to Israel:

Here in Jerusalem … when you shut your apartment door behind you, you fall into a gale of conversation – exposition, argument, harangue, analysis, theory, expostulation, threat, and prophecy.

The subject of all this talk is, ultimately, survival … the survival of the decent society created in Israel within a few decades. At first this is hard to grasp because the setting is so civilized.
    ______
That was true after the Yom Kippur War in 1973 and no less true now. Today it extends to Zionists arguing in blogs all over the world.

The prime topic isn’t the war on 7 fronts against Israel.
    — It’s Russia vs. Ukraine —

It doesn’t seem connected with national origins. After all, most Russian-speaking Israelis arrived while the Soviet Union was still intact. Nazis in Ukraine, Stalin’s purges, gulags. Root for Team Cholera against Team Plague?

It’s an abstraction of war that’s made immediate by the passionate form of argument Saul Bellow describes so perfectly. Maybe it’s displacement. Those of us with family still there aren’t engaging in these discussions. It’s coming from British, Mexicans, Canadians, Australians, and everyone in between.

Maybe it’s a way to discharge anxiety due to the real, existential threat we face as Zionists today. I don’t know, but it’s definitely a thing.
