Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  2. Britain’s speech police have come under fire yet again after they showed up at a grandmother’s doorstep to give her “advice” after criticising left-wing politicians on social media.

    54-year-old school administrator and grandmother Helen Jones said that she was frightened into considering keeping quiet about her political beliefs after officers from the Greater Manchester Police showed up at her door last week over her mild-mannered calls for the resignation of local Labour Councillor David Sedgwick.

    Cllr Sedgwick was involved in the WhatsApp scandal in Britain, which resulted in the sacking of former Health Minister Andrew Gwynne, who was accused of posting racist and sexist remarks in a group chat. In response to a letter posted by Sedgwick from an elderly constituent complaining about poor garbage collection, Gwynne reportedly opined that it wouldn’t matter as hopefully she would be dead by the next election.

    Outraged, Mrs Jones took to Facebook, where she posted of Sedwick: “Let’s hope he does the decent thing and resigns. I somehow think his ego won’t allow it.” In another post, she said: “Not looking good for Cllr Sedgwick!!!”

  5. California Gov. Gavin Newsom is threatening to withhold aid from cities that do not follow his homeless policies — while arguing at the same time that it would be wrong for the federal government to withhold aid from California.

    Newsom is asking Congress and the Trump administration for $40 billion in aid to deal with the aftermath of the deadly Los Angeles fires — even as he spends $50 million to fight Trump over immigration and other issues.

    California officials have generally pushed back against the idea that federal aid for the fires should have “strings,” such as Ambassador Ric Grenell has suggested, or supervision by a Special Master who would control spending.

    The governor has said that Trump should not “politicize” the fire. He has also been at pains to show that California is capable of “accountability” on its own, unveiling a website Monday to track the progress of homeless spending.

    Yet Newsom is perfectly willing to attach strings to aid that California sends to cities to deal with the ongoing crisis of homelessness, telling local officials who dissent that their communities will be punished by not receiving state funds.

    On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Donald Trump is inviting the company that was building the Keystone XL pipeline before former President Joe Biden killed the project back and “We want the Keystone XL pipeline built” along with other pipelines.

    Leavitt said, [relevant remarks begin around 3:10] “I just saw President Trump’s statement, in case your audience hasn’t, from a few moments ago. He says our country is doing very well and he was just thinking about the company that was shooed away and canceled by the Biden administration who wanted to build the Keystone XL pipeline.   10. Pro-life groups are concerned that praying within certain private areas could be deemed an offence
    The SNP government has warned that praying at home may be illegal under new Scottish abortion laws.

    A new law came into force across Scotland last month, creating 200-metre “safe access zones” around all abortion clinics.

    People living within these areas have been cautioned that they may violate the Abortion Services Act (Scotland) 2024 if they engage in any behaviour that could “harass, alarm, or distress” clinic staff or patients.

    This includes such actions which take place within their own homes.

    Is your car a ‘public space,’ free to be searched without a warrant?

    The Minnesota Supreme Court (not to be confused with the proverbial kangaroo court or the Supreme Soviet) recently ruled that the interior of a vehicle is a “public place” if it is driven on public roads.

    According to KARE:

    ST PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled the inside of a motor vehicle on public roadways is a public space.

    …

    So, the Supreme Court of the great and sovereign state of Minnesota ruled that the inside of one’s vehicle, when on public roads, is to be considered a “public space.” This is, of course, a patently absurd ruling that is certainly destined to make its way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

    This is an unbleepingbelievable decision.

    If one’s privately owned personal vehicle is public space simply because it is traveling through a public space, then one’s own insides are a public space, too.

    A Biden-appointed judge on Tuesday blasted DOJ lawyers over USAID disbursement and ordered the Trump Administration to pay the foreign contracts by 11:59 pm on Wednesday evening.

    Earlier this month, US District Judge for the District Court of Columbia, Amir Ali, a Biden appointee, temporarily blocked President Trump from cancelling foreign aid contracts.

    Judge Ali ordered the Trump Admin to restore funding for the foreign aid contractors after Trump froze US foreign aid for 90 days last month.

    Last month, after Trump’s executive order to halt foreign aid grants, Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued new guidance to temporarily pause spending on most foreign aid for 3 months.

    Marco Rubio said the State Department will issue waivers on a case-by-case basis.

    Non-profit groups sued to have their funds restored.

    A couple of weeks ago Judge Amir Ali, said Trump’s order halting foreign funding has caused enormous harm.

    “At least to date, Defendants have not offered any explanation for why a blanket suspension of all congressionally appropriated foreign aid, which set off a shockwave and upended reliance interests for thousands of agreements with businesses, nonprofits, and organizations around the country, was a rational precursor to reviewing programs,” Judge Ali wrote in a 15-page order reviewed by The Gateway Pundit.

    On Tuesday, Judge Ali dressed down DOJ lawyers over the disbursement of funds.

    “I don’t know why I can’t get a straight answer from you. Are you aware of an unfreezing of the disbursement of funds for those contracts and agreements that were frozen before Feb. 13?” Judge Ali said to the DOJ lawyers according to a telephone hearing attended by Politico reporter Kyle Cheney.

    DOJ lawyer: “I’m not in a position to answer that.”

    Reuters reported:

    A federal judge in Washington on Tuesday ordered the Trump administration to pay foreign aid funds to contractors and grant recipients by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday night, saying there was no sign that it had taken any steps to comply with his earlier order that the funds be unfrozen.

    U.S. District Judge Amir Ali’s order came in a telephone hearing in a lawsuit brought by organizations that contract with and receive aid from the U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Department. It applies to work done before February 13, when the judge issued his earlier temporary restraining order.

    It was the third time Ali had ordered the administration officials to release foreign aid funds that were frozen after President Donald Trump ordered a 90-day pause on all foreign aid, throwing global humanitarian relief efforts into chaos.

    White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced today that the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) will no longer hold its iron grip over deciding which outlets get a seat in the coveted White House press pool.

    “This administration is shaking up Washington in more ways than one,” Leavitt said, noting, “that’s what we were elected to do.”

    “A select group of DC-based journalists should no longer have a monopoly over the privilege of press access at the White House,” she added in reference to the White House Correspondents’ Association.

    She said the WHCA “has long dictated which journalists get to ask questions of the President of the United States in these most intimate spaces,” but “not anymore.”

    As The Gateway Pundit reported, the Associated Press asked a federal judge to grant an emergency Temporary Restraining Order against the Trump Administration and restore its access to areas in the White House after the far-left outlet was booted from the Oval Office this month over its refusal to acknowledge President Trump’s executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”

    Even Google and Apple have acknowledged the name change, but the leftist outlet didn’t want to recognize the Gulf’s new legal name.

    On Monday, a federal judge denied the Associated Press’s emergency motion to restore its access to the White House press pool.

    Leavitt responded to this news Monday, stating, “Covering the American presidency in the most intimate and limited spaces in this White House, in the Oval Office, on Air Force One is a privilege.” Leavitt continued, “It is not a legal right.”

    The Gateway Pundit recently reported that before the AP filed its lawsuit, the WHCA’s President attacked the White House in a statement, claiming that “the White House is seeking to curtail the press freedoms enshrined in our Constitution.”

    We noted how the leftist WHCA, led by Eugene Daniels, a liberal reporter for Politico, is ironically crying foul over the AP losing its privilege to access the Oval Office, an area that many other reporters, including this author, have been unable to access due to a lack of space and restrictions placed by the WHCA.

    Triggered White House Correspondents’ Association President Attacks Trump Administration After Far-Left Associated Press is Once Again Barred From Accessing White House Press Event

    In the past, they’ve had no problem with a conservative reporter being censored by the Biden Regime or bullied by their members in the White House. Now that a liberal regime media member is facing an inconvenience, they’re up in arms. Daniels is also probably lashing out at the White House over the Department of Government Efficiency’s recently discovered USAID payments to his far-left news organization.

    But Karoline Leavitt announced that the WHCA will no longer dictate who gets to be part of the press pool.

    Asking the President of the United States questions in limited spaces, such as the Oval Office and Air Force One, is a privilege that, unfortunately, has only been granted to a few. It is not a legal right for all.

    The Trump administration has already proven to be the most transparent ever, and this president, the most accessible in history.

    This is evidenced by President Trump’s daily press conferences in the Oval Office, where he takes many questions from the journalists who have the honor and privilege of standing before the beautiful resolute desk.

    In fact, we want to double down and give even greater access to the American people. We want more outlets and new outlets to have a chance to take part in the press pool, to cover this administration’s unprecedented achievements up close, front and center.

    As you all know, for decades, a group of DC-based journalists, the White House Correspondents Association, has long dictated which journalists get to ask questions of the President of the United States in these most intimate spaces. Not anymore.

    I am proud to announce that we are going to give the power back to the people who read your papers, who watch your television shows, and who listen to your radio stations.

    Moving forward, the White House press pool will be determined by the White House press team. Legacy outlets who have participated in the press pool for decades will still be allowed to join, fear not.

    But we will also be offering the privilege to well-deserving outlets who have never been allowed to share in this awesome responsibility.

    Just like we added a new media seat in this briefing room, legacy media outlets who have been here for years will still participate in the pool, but new voices are going to be welcomed in as well.

    As part of these changes, we will continue the rotation amongst the five major television networks to ensure the President’s remarks are heard far and wide around this world.

    We will add additional streaming services, which reach different audiences than traditional cable and broadcast. This is the ever changing landscape of the media in the United States today.

    We will continue to rotate a print pooler who has the great responsibility of quickly transcribing the President’s remarks and disseminating them to the rest of the world. And we will add outlets to the print pool rotation who have long been denied the privilege to partake in this experience but are committed to covering this White House beat.

    We will continue to rotate a radio pooler and add other radio hosts who have been denied access, especially local radio hosts who serve as the heartbeat of our country.

    And we will add additional outlets and reporters who are well suited to cover the news of the day and ask substantive questions of the President of the United States, depending on the news he is making on that given day.

    This administration is shaking up Washington in more ways than one. That’s what we were elected to do. As I have said since the first day behind this podium, it’s beyond time that the White House press operation reflects the media habits of the American people in 2025 not 1925.

    A select group of DC-based journalists should no longer have a monopoly over the privilege of press access at the White House. All journalists, outlets, and voices deserve a seat at this highly coveted table. So, by deciding which outlets make up the limited press pool on a day to day basis, the White House will be restoring power back to the American people who President Trump was elected to serve.

    In 2020, the far-left garbage website Washington Post wrote a hit piece on The Gateway Pundit, The Epoch Times, and OANN for crashing their White House party. The far-left media STILL believes they are entitled to promote the news narrative in America today.

    In the same year, the White House Correspondents Association removed One America News Network from the rotation of press outlets granted seats at the daily White House coronavirus task force briefings after OANN reporter Chanel Rion allegedly violated in-house rules by twice showing up at the briefings without an assigned seat.

    This is the same organization that refused to grant The Gateway Pundit official credentials during the Biden regime.

    These are the same nasty, vile people who physically and verbally attacked The Gateway Pundit reporter in 2017.

    Jon Decker from FOX News Radio accosted The Gateway Pundit’s Lucian Wintrich. Decker then reportedly began “screaming” and pointing, accusing Lucian of being a “Nazi” and claiming that The Gateway Pundit is a “white supremacist” website!

    “This man accosted me. He pushed me in the back room and then grabbed my arm. He started screaming to the entire press room that I’m a Nazi and The Gateway Pundit is a white supremacist publication,” Wintrich said at the time.

    President Trump stripped the security clearances for employees who work at Covington & Burling, the top DC law firm that recently gave former special counsel Jack Smith $140,000 in pro bono legal services.

    Earlier this month it was reported that Jack Smith received $140,000 in pro bono legal services from high-profile DC firm Covington and Burling last month, shortly before he resigned from the Justice Department.

    The legal services were labeled as a ‘gift’ on Jack Smith’s financial disclosure obtained by Politico.

    The reason for the legal services was not immediately clear. However, it was previously reported that Jack Smith’s prosecutors sought legal counsel from high-powered DC law firms as Trump’s new DOJ was set to take over.

    It was previously reported that Jack Smith’s investigators were fielding calls with lawyers in DC.

    “One former senior White House official said aides inside the White House and across various federal agencies are intensely worried about the possibility that the incoming Trump administration will prosecute anyone deemed as having antagonized the president-elect,” CNN reported.

    “Additionally, several prominent white-collar lawyers across Washington have fielded calls in recent weeks from government officials, including investigators from Smith’s office, who are concerned they could be targeted by the incoming Trump administration,” the outlet reported.

    Rolling Stone also reported that Jack Smith’s prosecutors are afraid they will go bankrupt and are inquiring about taking steps to protect their family’s assets.

    President Trump previously called for Jack Smith to be jailed.

    “The Federal Government will review and terminate engagement of Covington & Burling LLP by the United States to the maximum extent permitted by law,” the memo will say according to Fox News.

    President Donald Trump is expected to sign a memo Tuesday suspending the security clearances for employees of a top D.C.-based law firm who assisted in former special counsel Jack Smith’s investigations, Fox News has learned.

    The memo, first reported by Fox News, outlines the administration’s sweeping plans to suspend security clearances for all counsel members involved in Jack Smith’s dual special counsel investigations into Trump, the White House confirmed.

    The memo orders the federal government to review and terminate the engagement of law firm Covington & Burling by the U.S. government “to the maximum extent permitted by law,” and will conduct a detailed evaluation of funding decisions to ensure they with American citizens’ interests and the priorities of this Administration, as detailed in executive directives.

    Among those targeted is Peter Koski, the former deputy chief of the Justice Department’s public integrity section. Covington vice chair Lanny Breuer, who helped lead the Justice Department’s criminal division under then-President Barack Obama, is also expected to be squarely in the crosshairs of the review. Breuer, for his part, had recruited Smith in 2010 to head up DOJ’s Public Integrity Section.

    Trump’s DOJ has not announced a criminal investigation into Jack Smith, however, US Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered a creation of a group to review Jack Smith’s cases against Trump.

    Pam Bondi ordered the group to review the “Weaponization by Special Counsel Jack Smith and his staff who spent more than $50 million targeting President Trump and the prosecutors and law enforcement personnel who participated in the unprecedented raid on President Trump’s home.”

    Trump’s Justice Department went scorched earth last month and fired more than a dozen officials who worked on former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team.

  18. Missouri Second Amendment Bills Expose Absurdity Of The Left

    Missouri Senate Bill 74 and Senate Bill 147, currently being considered in committee, are kicking up a storm with Democrats as the measures threaten to repeal restrictions on carrying and using a firearm in a self-defense scenario. Specifically, SB 74 would prohibit cities and counties in the state from imposing open-carry limitations, while SB 147 issues legal protections for those who use a firearm in a fatal self-defense shooting, presuming their actions reasonable, removing the burden of proof, and providing immunity to prosecution or civil action.

    SB 74, sponsored by Republican Senator Brad Hudson of Stone County, would conflict with current laws set forth by local Missouri municipalities if passed, including in St. Louis, where it has been prohibited to carry openly without a concealed carry permit since 2023.

    Moms Demand Action, aptly named to disguise the anti-Second Amendment group behind the broken record of emotionally charged monikers masquerading as public safety organizations, sent volunteer Mary Gross to testify against the Constitutional rights of Americans at a hearing earlier this month.

    “Consider the county where the bill sponsor lives, Stone County, has a population density of 70 people per square mile… St. Louis city has a population density of 5,000 people per square mile,” Gross spouted about.

    I wasn’t aware there is a population density clause in the Bill of Rights, Mary, but I’d love for you to point that out when you have a moment. I’ll wait. She went on to express concerns about SB 74 interfering with local autonomy, a curious prioritization as she expressed no concern for interfering with the Second Amendment.

    Varied restrictions on fundamental American rights across state lines is enough of a problem. Parsing that out among cities and counties can be even more treacherous. Imagine if those of us in rural counties banned skinny jeans and man buns, making the crime enforceable by jail time (which it should be). How uncomfortable would that make you every time you left the city? I know what you’re going to say. But the First Amendment… See what I did there?

    Some of the more hilarious opposition arguments are brought to us courtesy of SB 147, which has the left up in arms, claiming the bill legalizes murder. No, I’m not joking. What the bill aims to accomplish is the removal of punitive legal attacks against those who defend themselves with lethal force in an emergency. SB 147 is sponsored by Republican Senator Mary Elizabeth Coleman of Jefferson County, who has introduced similar legislation in previous years.

    Leftist opposition to the measure wasted no time jumping on the opportunity to make outlandish claims, including some members of the law enforcement and judicial community (you know which ones) who deployed their predictable hyperbole in stating the bill would allow murder without consequence.

    “All you have to do is say, someone threatened me, and now I can kill them… This is not the state or the method to make murder legal,” said Parke Stevens from the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys.

    I wonder if he said that with a straight face. I’m kidding; these guys are excellent at lying and masking their contempt for Americans’ rights without flinching.

    Even the Missouri chapter of the NAACP came out of the woodwork, not to be left behind when foolishness abounds, as Sharon Geuea testified in opposition to the bill, using the case of Ralph Yarl, a 16-year-old shot in Kansas City after ringing the wrong doorbell in 2023. What she left out, however, was that the shooter, Andrew Lester, was indicted and pleaded guilty to the shooting.

    Cooler heads, like Missouri resident Susan Myers, spoke in favor of the bills and of removing gun-free zones, with her concerns being the lifting of restrictions that would allow women to protect themselves without the fear of state or civil retribution, a panic that causes the type of hesitation that could mean life and death in a self-defense situation.
