This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  5. If it is not so already, Canada must be prioritized by the Trump administration as both a foreign and domestic threat. The compromised RCMP cannot be trusted to enforce the laws of the land, particularly concerning corruption.

    The intelligence agencies try to inform the people about CCP or other foreign agents buying politicians, but they are stymied by Trudeau.

    The next Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, is an authoritarian World Economic Forum plant who will oversee capital flight from the country until he imposes capital controls, as was the norm in communist countries.

    I did an image search on the black, stylized raised-fist. There is a lot of anger, not just now, but in groups using this logo. I would like to know where, despite our relative affluence, this anger comes from.

    On reflection, though, given specifically the cost of hiring and timeline ($10,000+, 6 months for cleared workers), federal-job cuts may be pound-wise and penny-foolish. There are commenters on one of the federal-job discussion Reddits who delve into defecting. It’s not obvious if these are recruiters or people making threats or people with grave concern. The more that the Government declassifies, the less leverage such people will have.

      Patel is set to lead an agency that’s been a frequent target of Republicans, including an effort to abolish it altogether.

      President Donald Trump’s newly-confirmed FBI director, Kash Patel, is expected to take on another top law enforcement role in the administration as head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to a White House official and two other sources familiar with the plan.

      Patel’s appointment could be made official as soon as next week with a swearing-in ceremony, the sources said.

      The ATF, a law enforcement agency housed in the Department of Justice, is responsible for enforcing federal laws regarding the illegal use, sale and trafficking of firearms and explosives, as well as the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products.

    President Zelensky says Russia’s $350 billion in frozen assets belong to Ukraine and no one else.

    Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to a gathering in Kiev on Sunday. The speech took place as President Trump and the Trump White House prepare to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss peace negotiations with Ukraine.

    Zelensky told the “Ukraine. Year 2025” forum that he was not recognizing any debt to the US.

    Speaking at the ‘Ukraine. Year – 2025’ forum in Kiev on Sunday, Zelensky stated that “Ukraine received $100 billion [in aid] from the US, not $350, not $500, not $700,” stressing that he was “not ready to recognize even $100 billion” as debt. He claimed that he had reached an agreement with former US President Joe Biden that the money was being provided as a grant, and that no repayment had been expected.

    Zelensky also announced that the frozen $350 billion in Russian assets by the West belong to Ukraine and no one else.

    Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that frozen Russian assets should belong solely to Ukraine, not Kyiv’s international partners.

    “Frozen Russian assets are our money. It is our money, not shared with our partners,” Zelensky said during a press conference at the “Ukraine. The Year 2025” forum in Kyiv.

    Since Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Western countries have used sanctions and other financial mechanisms to freeze between $300 billion and $350 billion of Russian sovereign assets, mostly government bonds held in the EU, the US, and the UK.

    It’s unlikely Russia or the West will agree to that.

    President Donald Trump has declared that cartels and illegal alien gangs will be “hunted down” and “expelled from our soil like the savage monsters that they are.”

    Trump made the promise while speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

    “Their members and leaders in the United States will be hunted down – I’m talking about MS-13, they’re hunting them down,” Trump promised. “We removed tens of thousands MS-13, Tren de Aragua – rooted out, arrested, and expelled from our soil like the savage monsters that they are.”

    Earlier this week, the State Department designated eight foreign gangs as terrorist organizations — including MS-13 and Tren de Aragua.

    “The intent of designating these cartels and transnational organizations as terrorists is to protect our nation, the American people, and our hemisphere,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement about the designations. “That means stopping the campaigns of violence and terror by these vicious groups both in the United States and internationally. These designations provide law enforcement additional tools to stop these groups.”

    The statement continued, “Terrorist designations play a critical role in our fight against terrorism and are an effective way to curtail support for terrorist activities. Today’s actions taken by the State Department demonstrate the Trump Administration’s commitment to protecting our national security interests and dismantling these dangerous organizations.”

    On his first day back in the White House, President Trump issued an executive order declaring the organizations “Foreign Terrorist Organizations.”

    The order states, “The Cartels have engaged in a campaign of violence and terror throughout the Western Hemisphere that has not only destabilized countries with significant importance for our national interests but also flooded the United States with deadly drugs, violent criminals, and vicious gangs.”

    “It is the policy of the United States to ensure the total elimination of these organizations’ presence in the United States and their ability to threaten the territory, safety, and security of the United States through their extraterritorial command-and-control structures, thereby protecting the American people and the territorial integrity of the United States,” the order continues.

    A transatlantic American Airlines flight with 285 passengers aboard was forced to divert to Rome on Sunday following a “possible security issue,” leading to a dramatic military escort by fighter jets, as captured in shocking video footage circulating online.

    American Airlines Flight 292, which departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York, was originally bound for Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India, according to Time of India.

    However, in mid-flight, the aircraft was suddenly rerouted to Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport in Rome.

    American Airlines said in a statement to ABC News that the flight was diverted due to a “possible security issue.” Multiple news media reported that there was a bomb threat.

    Airport officials corroborated the safe landing in a statement to ABC News, though details surrounding the incident remain scarce.

    “Safety and security are our top priorities, and we thank our customers for their understanding,” American Airlines said in a brief statement. The airline has not yet elaborated on the specific nature of the “possible security issue” that prompted the mid-flight rerouting.

    According to Italian news outlet Corriere Della Sera:

    “The American Airlines flight was landed in a remote area of ??Fiumicino airport . Once all the passengers had disembarked, the bomb squad and the Polaria staff arrived. It has been learned that canine units will also be used to comb through every part of the plane, starting from the hold containing the luggage.”

    A Two-State Solution Is a Lost Cause

    During a visit to the West Bank, things became darker when the conversation turned to politics…

    When I asked Saif – thirtyish, wide smile – his view of a two-state solution, he responded: “I want a one-state solution. We have to destroy Israel and get rid of the Jews.”

    At a checkpoint, I spoke to Abdullah, who said: “Within five years, Israel will be gone and the Jews destroyed. It is Allah’s will. Nothing can prevent it.”

    Of the 15 people I spoke to in the West Bank, 13 rejected a two-state solution and 12 were supporters of Hamas.

    A majority also held the Palestinian Authority in contempt, not least for its corruption.

    When I pointed out the venality of the leaders of Hamas – living in hotel suites in Doha, their wives carrying designer handbags – one man replied: “At least they are committed to the eradication of Israel.”

    On the main drag in old Bethlehem, I came across a toy shop whose frontage – featuring what I inferred to be the most popular goodies – was adorned with plastic replicas of AK-47s, machetes and hand grenades.

    I looked on in horrified fascination as a child, perhaps seven, pulled at his mother’s robe before she gave in to his demands, buying one of the machine guns, doubtless perceiving it as an expression of maternal love.

    The longer I stayed in the West Bank, the more I shook my head at the shallow pieties of Western politicians who trot out “two-state solution” and “Palestinian aspirations.”

    Do they not see that the provision of any additional funds, land or aid will lead to the escalation of bloody jihad, as so often in the past?

    It is striking how many secular Israelis lament the rightward turn of recent governments, led by that cynical survivor, Binyamin Netanyahu, and fear that the commitment to liberal democracy is dying…

    Yet it was the ultra-Orthodox Haredim that fascinated me the most…

    Israel is deepening its crackdown on the Palestinian territory and has said it is determined to stamp out militancy amid a rise in attacks.

    JENIN, West Bank — Israeli tanks moved into the occupied West Bank on Sunday for the first time in decades in what Palestinian authorities called a “dangerous escalation,” after the defense minister said troops will remain in parts of the territory for a year and tens of thousands of Palestinians who have fled cannot return.

    Associated Press journalists saw several tanks move along unpaved tracks into Jenin, long a bastion of armed struggle against Israel.

    Israel is deepening its crackdown on the Palestinian territory and has said it is determined to stamp out militancy amid a rise in attacks. It launched the offensive in the northern West Bank on Jan. 21 — two days after the current ceasefire in Gaza took hold — and expanded it to nearby areas.

    Denmark will spend 70% more on defense over the next two years, bringing its outlays to 3.2% of GDP, as President Donald Trump has called on NATO countries to boost their militaries. The planned increase also follows a Danish intelligence report that said Russia may start a war in Europe within years.

    NATO member Denmark will pour billions more into its military as Europe reckons with the risks of wavering US support for the trans-Atlantic alliance and continued aggression from Russia.

    Over the next two years, Denmark will spend an additional $7 billion on defense, representing a 70% increase and lifting its outlays to 3.2% of GDP from 2.4% last year.

    On Wednesday, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen signaled urgency in its procurement plans, which will also be aided by waivers and a restructuring of the defense ministry.

    “There is one message for the chief of defense: Buy, buy, buy,” she told reporters, later adding, “If we can’t get the best equipment, buy the next best. There’s only one thing that counts now and that is speed.”

    The infusion of funds will enable Denmark to buy cutting-edge weapons and send more equipment to Ukraine. It also comes a month after pledging $1.9 billion to reinforce Greenland’s defenses as Russia has raised its military profile in the Arctic while Trump has said the US should own the island.

    NATO members have backed a target of spending 2% of GDP on defense, but several have fallen short, and President Donald Trump has said they should increase their goal to as much as 5%.

    Meanwhile, European defense contractors like BAE Systems, Thales, Leonardo, and Saab have shot up since Trump was elected, outperforming US giants like Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.

    That’s as he pushes for cuts at the Pentagon and a swift end to Russia’s three-year-old war on Ukraine, with the potential for European troops being deployed to Ukraine as part of a settlement.

    Earlier this month, the Danish Defense Intelligence Service assessed the risk from Russia once its Ukraine war stops or freezes in place.

    Russia could launch a local war against a bordering country within six months, a regional war in the Baltics within two years, and a large-scale attack on Europe within five years if the US does not get involved, according to a translation of the report from Politico.

    “Russia is likely to be more willing to use military force in a regional war against one or more European NATO countries if it perceives NATO as militarily weakened or politically divided,” according to the report, which was dated Feb. 9 and released Tuesday. “This is particularly true if Russia assesses that the US cannot or will not support the European NATO countries in a war with Russia.”

    That warning was echoed by Alexander Gabuev, director of the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center in Berlin, who wrote in the Financial Times on Friday that Russia is reconstituting its military to become bigger and better in five years.

    And even if Russia’s Ukraine war ends and sanctions on Moscow are lifted, President Vladimir Putin will remain hostile to the West, viewing it as a “mortal enemy,” he added.

    “Putin’s triumphalism, vengefulness and desire to make a mark on Russian history, along with the glaring lack of checks and balances in the Kremlin, will prompt Moscow to start preparing for the next war while stepping up its intimidation campaign against Europe,” Gabuev said.

      • I don’t know if the Europeans will fight for Europe on not.

        I do know that if they can get 1/3rd of the Europeans to support a kinetic rebellion and about 3% to fight they can have a long and possibly successful counter rebellion.

        If the counter rebellion starts and can hold out long enough for us to get North America behind the fight we can once again go over and pull Europe’s chestnuts out of the fire. We have had a couple of generations who haven’t had to do that and the tradition is getting forgotten. Plus it is our turn to have Italy as an ally in the war.

      • I have known several vets who were like that, they were all Special Operators and most were nice people as long as you didn’t go out of your way to anger them. The willingness to quickly go for broke is what kept them alive in the various wars they fought.

        I am putting the gunfighters quotes up to give you some advice from experts, hopefully you won’t need it but it can’t hurt.

        One of the top self defense people in the US is Massad Ayoob, his family is Christians from Lebanon, one of his sayings is,”If you are in a fight for your life and it is a fair fight your strategy sucks.”

        The following is the only speech on gunfighting that Wyatt Earp ever gave, when he is talking about the people in Kansas City he spent a couple of winters there talking to people who were all real good gunfighters. This was his way of learning how to survive a gunfight.

          I’ll pass it on to some guys at a ziyonist blog who’ll really appreciate it. They’re always sharing technical tips.

          They lived in kibbutzim during the War of Attrition (1967-70), later kept shooting as a sport. Now they’re traveling in various countries, teaching leaders in orthodox congregations what they need to know. Even places with draconian gun control laws have given them the okay.

          A fact that would shock “Reformed”-flavor AsaJoooz: Honoring the Sabbath and keeping it holy – may require firearms.
