This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

    • At this point in time after the damage proven to have been caused and all the evidence to support that damage to humans by mRNA vaccines, it is a mystery to me that Trump would dismiss anyone, (especially Doctor Siri) demonstrating concern for both the efficacy and benefits of unproven vaccines that were hurried to market, faster than any other in history.
      This alone set off the bells for me at the time.
      If the grin on Gates face is any indication of the outcome, I think it is safe to conclude what the two talked about – the public going forward have plenty to be concerned about!

  2. Here, a propagandist posing as a journalist openly admits to hiding his biases before interviewing leaders.

    It is important to hear what the enemy has to say. Hearing bald-faced projection with the intention of hiding and inverting the real fascist agenda of what has now become the Western orthodoxy is no longer as bracing as it used to be. In other words we are used to this tired dialectical tactic.

    Shifting political winds now place in relief the radical Comintern aspirations we have been subjected to–so much so that PT’s reversion to common sense policies appear, themselves, to be radical.     Only willful ignorance denies the redundancy of historical principles. As I have previously observed, “History is unerring, redundant and unforgiving.” Delusional politicians always think they are immune to this principle. They think history does not apply to them because they are ignorant of history.

    Events of the Biden/Harris Administration that were urged and supported by the Democrat Party provide an illustration of ruinous political overreach. This was prompted by a delusional philosophy and ruled by iron-fisted arrogance.

    This exposure reveals the Democrat Party’s soul—it is calloused to the welfare of the citizen, brazenly criminal in its lawfare, and consumed with selfishness as its Party leaders recline in splendor, feasting on only the best and, issuing mandates for the citizens’ depravation of life while the ruling “Ds” are exempt from these absurdities.

    This flagrant criminality of the Democrat Party is fully exposed in the last days of the Biden/Harris administration. THOUSANDS have received pardons and commutations for the most egregious anti-social behavior. This exposes all “Ds”! The electorate now sees the real Democrat Party’s philosophy. It is a philosophy that is anti-social, anti-Law, anti-public. It is a philosophy consumed with selfish personalities determined to rule or “burn it all down.”

    Mark Penn, associated with Clinton’s Administration, observed, “With these pardons, Joe Biden has put Democrats and the media in an impossible position. This will be thrown in their faces for years to come.” This is truth.

    The legacy of the Democrat Party is now anchored in civilization’s chronicles. If you are a member of the Democrat Party, this is who you are for future generations to read!

    The Democrat Party now sits in the company of Atilla and his inhumanities, with King Leopold II and his horrors in the Congo, with other miscreants of history (Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, etc.).

    Let the electorate accept this fact about the “Ds” and remember their egregious behavior in the 2026 elections!

    History is repeating itself with the pardons/commutations of Biden’s last 30 minutes in office.

    Many illustrations can be provided but let me suggest an essay by Graham Land, “8 Convicted Nazi War Criminals Who Got Off Easy.” The article focuses attention on the way evil perpetrators were not held accountable.

    There were war crimes and crimes against humanity including slave labor, medical malfeasance, racial cleansing, military figures, executions, hostage taking, imprisonment, torture, deployment of mobile death squads and corrupt government ministers. These were responsible for wholesale enslavement, plunder, and murder. The Nazi war criminals were convicted of monstrous acts, yet some served only a few years before their sentences were commuted or they received pardons for economic or political reasons.

    History’s chronicles have not been kind to the “easy” treatment of heinous criminals. These were allowed to go unpunished and their crimes shrugged off.

    History’s chronicles now adds to man’s arrogance the “Ds” shocking pardons/commutations that were flagrantly exercised in the last minutes of the Biden/Harris administration.

    Will the electorate of our Republic forget this scandalous behavior in future election cycles? Will the nation hold the Democrat Party accountable for its elitism? America, do you approve of the “Ds” living above the law that they penalize you for breaking?

    History redundantly records the unraveling of great Empires when the Rule of Law is ignored by the ruling Elite. Victimized by the Elite’s arrogance, the nation’s civility, security, and strength are compromised.

    The arrogance of the Elite deludes them into thinking they are in total charge; that they are in an unassailable position. Their arrogance blinds them to their precarious position.

    Among the many illustrations of arrogant politicians/bureaucrats is one from the Persian Empire (The Bible, the Book of Esther). This historic anecdote should strike fear in the hearts of all POLS IF they have any sensitivity remaining in their soul.

    An entrenched bureaucrat was evilly ambitious, selfishly conniving, and diabolically biased. His name was “Haman.” He was politically connected. His position gave him unlimited command and control to pursue his agenda. His hatred drove him to genocide. So smug was he that he had high gallows built for his political enemy. His scheme was activated. The government was manipulated. His scheme seemed perfect. But, in one of the most amazing historical ironies, Haman was hung on his own gallows for all to see! (Esther 7:10) The political intrigue, evil maneuvering, and manipulation destroyed the one who had put all into motion.

    The current political maneuverings by the D’s via the Biden/Harris last minute pardons and commutations, remind me of Hayman’s Gallows. These have been focused only on pursuing their arrogance and lawfare. Their evil obfuscations are documented. Their insidious arrogance is exposed. They built gallows to hang high all who opposed them. Now, history’s narrative will hang them high on the gallows they constructed for their political enemies. The evil has not abated as it continues seeking to disrupt the overwhelming electorate’s decision in November.

    Do not think this exposure is only a momentary blip. Penn’s words will haunt the Democrat Party, “With these pardons, Joe Biden has put Democrats and the media in an impossible position. This will be thrown in their faces for years to come.”

    The payday for evil politicking will continue. I am reminded of this fable: There was a farmer whose neighbor was an atheist. The atheist said, “Tell you what. You plant your crops and work your field 6 days a week, taking Sundays off to worship God. I’ll work my field 7 days a week and in the fall we’ll see who has the biggest crop.” When October came and the crops were gathered in, the atheist dropped by to see the results. Sure enough, his harvest was larger than the Christian’s. “What do you say now?” he sneered. The Christian replied, “God doesn’t settle all His accounts in October.”

    History validates that all accounts are not instantly settled. Those who perpetrated evil will be long remembered. The national uproar regarding the malfeasance of Biden’s pardons/commutations will linger. Every “D” is identified with this duplicity!

    What about those receiving Biden’s pardons? At least four points beg attention.

    First, as Grant Stinchfield observes, one accepting a pardon admits guilt of that for which the pardon forgives. Thus, all pardoned by Biden ARE guilty. They admit guilt to what. They declare their guilt for what.

    Second, exactly WHAT crimes are pardoned? Is this a total absolution for every crime?

    Third, what recourse can appeal to justice’s vindication? Do pardons eliminate civil suits as a means of serving justice? What civil actions can be taken against those pleading guilty, so justice is served?

    Fourth, a most intriguing query asks, to what degree does mental acuity factor in these pardons. Does one have to “be of sound mind” for the pardon to be effective? Can one be demented and give a pardon? Addressing this point is an article from Real Clear Politics: The Moment Speaker Mike Johnson Knew Biden Wasn’t “In Charge” Anymore. Speaker Johnson, “It occurred to me…He genuinely did not know what he had signed. I walked out of that meeting with fear and loathing because I thought, We’re in serious trouble. Who is running the country? I don’t know who put the paper in front of him, but he didn’t know.” If Biden was not “in sound mind” to know what he was signing, how valid is anything he signed?

    Do not forget that history is “unerring, redundant and unforgiving.” Politicians fail to accept this truth. They leave behind a historic legacy that brings shame and inescapable judgment. The Democrats, Republicans, Deep State Bureaucrats, and all who profit from unethical and immoral politics will face Haman’s Gallows. In the end they will be exposed as Fools. The electorate must never forget this fact! Putting Haman’s Gallows into perspective is this wisdom, “The exercise of justice is joy for the righteous, but is terror to the evildoers” (The Bible, Proverbs 21:15).

    The moment the 3 Israeli hostages arrived at Tel HaShomer hospital after being released from Gaza

    On Sunday, three Israeli hostages, Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, and Doron Steinbrecher, were released and handed over to the Red Cross.

    The young women have now been reunited with their families.

    However, disturbing details of their ordeal have surfaced, including that the three women were held for at least part of their 471 days in captivity within United Nations shelters.

    The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared on X, “Former hostages Romi, Emily, and Doron were held in United Nations shelters in Gaza, which were meant for civilians. The UN refuses to condemn Hamas for hiding hostages in civilian spaces.”

    The revelation underscores President Trump’s decision to suspend funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) as part of a decision to suspend any foreign assistance for 90 days pending reviews.

    In August 2024, The Gateway Pundit reported that UNRWA admitted that nine of its staff members may have been involved in the heinous Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

    This admission is not just a minor oversight; it highlights a disturbing pattern of complicity and negligence within an organization that claims to uphold humanitarian values.

    Philippe Lazzarini, the UNRWA Commissioner-General, confirmed that an investigation by the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) found evidence that could suggest these staff members were involved in the attacks.

    While Lazzarini attempts to downplay the severity of this finding by stating that evidence was “insufficient” in other cases, the fact remains: nine individuals associated with a UN agency may have played a role in terrorism against a sovereign nation. This is not merely an administrative issue; it is a matter of national security and moral integrity.

    The IDF also revealed that a top-secret Hamas subterranean data center was discovered beneath the headquarters of UNRWA in Gaza.

    According to The Times of Israel, “The subterranean data center — complete with an electrical room, industrial battery power banks and living quarters for Hamas terrorists operating the computer servers — was built precisely under the location where Israel would not consider looking initially, let alone target in an airstrike.”

  15. Female Prison Inmates Supported Trump for One Vitally Important Reason, And It’s Not Early Release

    Some female prisoners are desperate for President Donald Trump to protect them from men who claim identity as women in order to abuse inmates of the opposite sex.

    The administration of now-former President Joe Biden sought to extend protections for individuals claiming transgender identity. Under one Bureau of Prisons policy passed three years ago, that even included housing males claiming to be females in women’s prisons.

    Trump signaled that transgender policies advanced under Biden would be nixed once he returned to the White House, a reality which female inmates welcomed.

    Rhonda Fleming, a prisoner who is halfway through a 27-year sentence for Medicare fraud at Carswell Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, recently filed a lawsuit seeking to challenge men being housed in women’s prisons, but a judge recently ruled against her, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reported.

    She now hopes the new commander-in-chief will make some changes.

    “Trump tried to help in 2018 by changing the policy when I initially filed on this, but as soon as he was out of office, Biden overturned everything he did and brought even more men into the prison,” she said.

    Jeff Bristol, her attorney, told the outlet that the best outcome “is to have our opinion rendered moot with the Trump administration repealing the policy and making a new one that protects the rights of women inmates.”

    The new administration recently met with former prisoner Jeanette Driever about amending the policy.

    “They’re going to bring awareness to what’s happening in women’s prisons and hopefully change some laws,” Driever told the Daily Mail.

    “Someone from the Trump team emailed me back saying they will be calling me.”

    Trump indeed said during his inaugural address on Monday that he would toss Biden administration policies related to the claims of transgenderism.

    “This week, I will also end the government policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life. We will forge a society that is colorblind and merit based,” he said in the speech, per a transcript from the Associated Press.

    “As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female.”

    The concerns shared by Fleming, Driever, and other women are by no means unfounded.

    There have been a number of instances in which males claiming female identity have assaulted fellow prisoners.

    Tremaine Carroll, a 52-year-old state prisoner, was housed in Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla, California, after claiming identity as a female, but is accused of raping several female inmates, according to KFSN-TV.

    The inmate was permitted to remain in a women’s prison even though he was charged with two counts of oral copulation by force back in 1990 because of a California law, which took effect in 2021, that permits inmates to stay in facilities that align with their so-called gender identity.

    Allowing violent men to be locked away with women expresses deep contempt for those women, even if such policies are coated in a veneer of compassion or empathy.

    Actual compassion looks much more like denying predators the ability to victimize others.

    President Donald Trump has taken decisive action to reshape the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), dismissing the heads of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the U.S. Coast Guard before their terms were set to expire.

    Additionally, Trump eliminated all members of a key aviation security advisory group.

    Members of the Aviation Security Advisory Committee received a memo on Tuesday stating that DHS is eliminating the membership of all advisory committees. The memo cited a “commitment to eliminating the misuse of resources and ensuring that DHS activities prioritize our national security.”

    An internal memo dated January 20 from DHS Acting Secretary Benjamin Huffman, first obtained by NPR, underscored the administration’s resolve to overhaul the agency, stating:

    “In alignment with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) commitment to eliminating the misuse of resources and ensuring that DHS activities prioritize our national security, I am directing the termination of all current memberships on advisory committees within DHS, effective immediately.

    Future committee activities will be focused solely on advancing our critical mission to protect the homeland and support DHS’s strategic priorities. To outgoing advisory board members, you are welcome to reapply, thank you for your service.”

    This sweeping action includes the dismissal of two key officials: David Pekoske, the Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and Admiral Linda Fagan, the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard.

    David Pekoske was initially appointed as TSA Administrator by President Trump in 2017 and reappointed by President Joe Biden in 2022 for a second five-year term, confirmed by the Senate with a 77-18 vote.

    Despite his term not expiring until 2027, Pekoske was removed from his position on Monday, by President Trump. No specific reasons were provided for his dismissal.

    Admiral Linda Fagan made history as the first female leader of a U.S. armed service branch when she became the Coast Guard Commandant in June 2022.

    She was relieved of her duties on Tuesday, by Acting Homeland Security Secretary Benjamine Huffman.

    Reports indicate that her termination was due to concerns over recruitment challenges, mismanagement in acquisitions, and an excessive focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, according to the New York Post.

    President Trump signs Executive Orders on Day One of his administration in front of thousands at Capital One Arena

    President Trump has signed a Memorandum placing all federal Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) employees on administrative leave, pending the termination of these programs under Trump’s “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing and Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions” Executive Order.

    As The Gateway Pundit reported, this is one of the more than 40 executive actions aimed at restoring national sovereignty, economic prosperity, public safety, and racial equality, which Trump signed immediately after taking his Oath of Office.

    Already, on Tuesday, DEI Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Linda Lee Fagan was fired by the acting Secretary of Homeland Security Benjamin Huffman due to several operational failures under her watch along with rampant political correctness.

    ANOTHER ONE: Trump Administration Fires Woke Coast Guard Leader Over DEI Obsession, Ignoring Border Security Threats, and Other Significant Failures

    Trump’s latest anti-DEI measure gives specific instructions to agency heads to close the DEIA offices.

    A template email for employees provided to agency heads reads, “These programs divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars, and resulted in shameful discrimination.”

    The memo gives the following instructions to agency heads to close DEIA offices:

    1. No later than 5:00 pm EST on Wednesday January 22, 2025

    a. Send an agency-wide notice to employees informing them of the closure and asking employees if they know of any efforts to disguise these programs by using coded or imprecise language a template agency-wide notice is attached as Appendix I.

    b. Send a notification to all employees of DEIA offices that they are being placed on paid administrative leave effective immediately as the agency takes steps to close/end all DEIA initiatives, offices and programs.’ A template employee letter is attached as Appendix 2.

    c. Take down all outward facing media (websites, social media accounts, etc.) of DEIA offices

    d. Withdraw any final or pending documents, directives, orders, materials, and equity plans issued by the agency in response to now-repealed Executive Order 14035, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) in the Federal Workforce (June 25, 2021).

    e. Cancel any DEIA-related trainings, and terminate any DEIA-related contractors.

    President Trump has outlined his plans for the future of TikTok.

    Speaking at an event in the White House on Tuesday, Trump said that Elon Musk or Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison would be among his preferred people to purchase the app.

    “I have the right to make a deal,” he said.

    “So what I’m thinking about saying to somebody is buy it and give half to the United States of America, half, and we’ll give you the permit, and they’ll have a great partner.”

    Trump was then asked whether he had Musk in mind.

    “I would be if he wanted to buy it, yes,” Trump responded. “I’d like Larry to buy it, too.”

    TikTok’s parent company ByteDance has repeatedly insisted that it would not sell the company under any circumstances.

    Bloomberg reported earlier this month that China was open to selling the company to Musk, who has friendly relations with the communist regime through his many business dealings in the country.

    The popular video-sharing app is currently in a state of legal uncertainty after a nationwide ban took effect on Sunday, hours before Trump took office.

    However, Trump reversed that ban within hours of taking office as part of an executive order that will give the company another 75 days to find a solution.

    TikTok’s CEO Shou Chew was among the prominent tech executives in attendance at Trump’s inauguration on Monday.

    President Trump is not wasting any time stopping the invasion of America that started under Joe Biden.

    As The Gateway Pundit’s Jordan Conradson reported earlier today, ICE has already arrested 300 criminal aliens during Trump’s first full day in office. Some of those aliens have been charged with violent crimes such as murder and child r*pe.

    Homan previously emphasized that even without the help of sanctuary leaders, the feds would still “wait til they get out of jail, then we’ll go out into the neighborhoods and get them.”

    With interior enforcement beefed up, Trump is now focusing on the exterior. CNN reported this morning that thousands of active-duty US troops are at the southern US border with Mexico.

    This comes just two days after Trump issued executive orders to bolster immigration enforcement.

    Sources told The AP the total number is 1,500 active-duty forces. Newsweek notes the deployed forces will assist border patrol agents by providing logistics, transportation, and constructing barriers.

    This news should come as a welcome respite to border agents because federal resources r have been stretched thin for years courtesy of the four-year-long invasion.

    More active troops are expected in the next few weeks and months. At this point, whether the forces will be armed is unclear.

    Sources told CNN that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that deploying active duty forces to the border will enable Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which has personnel on the border, to refocus on rounding up illegal migrants already inside the country.

    CNN notes that federal law bars active duty troops from carrying out law enforcement roles, including arrests or seizing drugs without authorization.

    However, on Inauguration Day, Trump signed an executive order declaring a national emergency at the southern border. This was absolutely essential thanks to the Biden regime’s deliberate attempt to remake American society courtesy of open borders and no interior enforcement.

    Trump stated he would decide within 90 days whether or not to invoke the Insurrection Act at the border, which would allow active-duty troops to be used for law enforcement.

      President Trump has one message to those trying to invade America: Sorry, we’re closed.

      Trump has just signed an executive order suspending the physical entry of aliens engaged in the ongoing invasion of the United States through the U.S.-Mexican border.

      This includes designated crossings and ports of entry.

      “Through the exercise of his authority under the Immigration and Nationality Act and the Constitution of the United States, President Trump is authorizing and directing the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Department of State to take all necessary action to immediately repel, repatriate, and remove illegal aliens across the southern border of the United States,” the order reads.

      “Through the exercise of his authority, President Trump has further restricted access to the provisions of the immigration laws that would enable any illegal alien involved in an invasion across the southern border of the United States to remain in the United States, such as asylum,” it continues.

      This makes another critical promise kept by Trump, who promised to seal the border on “Day One.”

      Here is how Trump aptly described the impact of illegal immigration on America roughly seven years ago:

      Illegal immigration affects the lives of all Americans. Illegal immigration hurts American workers; burdens American taxpayers; and undermines public safety; and places enormous strain on local schools, hospitals, and communities in general, taking precious resources away from the poorest Americans who need them most.

      Illegal immigration costs our country billions and billions of dollars each year…And I will therefore take every lawful action at my disposal to address this crisis. And that’s what we’re doing.

      Earlier today, Trump ordered thousands of active-duty US troops to the southern US border with Mexico just after his administration began deporting criminal illegal aliens.

      Any illegal aliens who not understand there is a new sheriff in town by now are going to learn the hard way pretty soon.

    We here at Bearing Arms, as well as the other gun-related sites, are part of the gun culture of the United States, along with our readers. We value the Second Amendment and the freedoms that come from having the right to keep and bear arms and a nation that more or less respects that right.

    We are the gun culture.

    Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t seem to understand what is and what isn’t “gun culture.”

    This was made painfully obvious in a recent story out of Chicago.

    Cherie Animashaun, 20, says her first memory of the danger of guns was when her mother wouldn’t let her go to her favorite park anymore.

    “I remember in kindergarten, I used to go to the park behind my house in Evanston, and, one day, my mom told me we couldn’t go to the park anymore. She said it wasn’t safe,” says Animashaun.

    The Cornell University student and Evanston Township High School graduate didn’t even know what a gun was, but she remembers being afraid.

    “In first grade, you don’t know the depth of the issue, but you can feel it,” Animashaun tells WBBM. “ I remember being terrified. For the most people I know, seeing guns growing up is almost a prerequisite to this generation.”

    For her and her peers, guns and gun violence have become the norm, something Nina Vinik soon realized.

    “I’ve been working to reduce gun violence for the last 20 years,” Vinik says. “I was a young housing lawyer in the 90s, and a lot of my clients lived on the West and South Sides of the city. Gun violence was at its peak in the city, and West and South Side neighborhoods are the hardest hit by gun violence. I was tired of reading about violence happening on the blocks where my clients lived. It led me to see the ability to feel safe in our homes and communities as just a threshold issue for the ability for kids and families to thrive.”

    Project Unloaded, a 501(c)(3) organization, was born in 2022 after the rise of school shootings. One in particular sparked Vinik’s activism.

    “That can make a difference in connecting with their peers in sending the message that gun violence is preventable, guns do not make us safer, and that little by little, by sharing those messages far and wide, we can chip away at the gun culture that is driving so much violence.”

    Honey, that ain’t “gun culture” that drives this.

    Chicago violence, for example, is the result of people who have illegal guns and are engaged in other illegal acts. They’re not consuming gun-related media, associating with gun rights groups or even non-political shooting groups, they’re not going to gun stores or shows, they’re not doing any of that.

    They’re associated with a completely different culture, one that really needs to be chipped away at, but if you’re focusing on guns, you’re ignoring the underlying issues. Instead, maybe look at the culture in place in Chicago that defies criminals and criminality, holding up gangsters as legends and belief that all insults need to be responded to with gunshots.

    The same is true with school shootings. That likely stems from an intense form of rage many of our young people feel, but often aren’t really allowed to express because maybe it’s focused on someone who is part of some group that can’t be talked negatively about.

    The gun culture in this country opposes all of this. In fact, much of the gun culture actually gets into the culture because they’re distressed by these events.

    Look around some time at these gun control meccas. You know, like Chicago which has long had extensive gun control laws in play and still had ridiculous levels of violence. Baltimore, New York, San Francisco, and numerous other cities report massive amounts of violent crime and are covered by extensive gun control laws.

    Meanwhile, the regions of this country where the right to keep and bear arms is truly respected? Where the gun culture is common? They don’t have these issues, generally speaking.

    You can try to chip away at gun culture all you want, random White Knight lady, but the gun culture isn’t the culture you should be worried about.

    Oleh Druz was responsible for determining whether people were mentally fit to serve in the armed forces. He was detained during a raid by the SBU security service at one of his properties. He is accused of receiving $1 million in illicit funds since the start of Russia’s all-out invasion almost three years ago.
    The SBU said Druz owned three apartments in or near Kyiv, one in Odesa, two plots of land and several BMW luxury cars. Investigators said they had discovered $152,000 and €34,000 in cash during a raid on one of his homes. He is alleged to have covered up his ownership of the properties by registering them in the names of family members or friends. Photographs from the raid that were published by the SBU showed a huge pile of banknotes.

    CNN plans to lay off hundreds of employees Thursday as it refocuses the business around a global digital audience, according to people familiar with the matter.

    The layoffs come as CNN is rearranging its linear TV lineup and building out digital subscription products. The cuts will help CNN lower production costs and consolidate teams, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss nonpublic changes.

    Certain shows that are produced in New York or Washington may move to Atlanta, where production can be done more cheaply, said the people.

    For the most part, the job cuts won’t affect CNN’s most recognizable names, who are under contract, said the people. CNN has about 3,500 employees worldwide.

    President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday, Jan. 20, renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.” Florida has become the first state to adopt the new name, using it in an official winter weather advisory.

    The advisory, issued for a system moving through the gulf, warned of snow, sleet and freezing rain across the state.

    Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis confirmed the change in the advisory. He stated that “an area of low pressure moving across the Gulf of America, interacting with Arctic air, will bring widespread impactful winter weather to North Florida.”

    Trump signed the executive order titled “Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness.”

    The order states, in part: “The area formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico has long been an integral asset to our once burgeoning Nation and has remained an indelible part of America. The Gulf was a crucial artery for America’s early trade and global commerce. It is the largest gulf in the world, and the United States coastline along this remarkable body of water spans over 1,700 miles and contains nearly 160 million acres.”

    Before his inauguration, Trump suggested the name change, describing “Gulf of America” as having “a beautiful ring to it.”

    The Gulf of Mexico has been known by its current name since 1672, according to the Library of Congress. Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum responded to the name change. She stated that Trump could call the gulf whatever he wanted on his side of the body of water.

    While Trump has the authority to rename the gulf in the U.S., changing its name in government databases and official usage, other countries are not required to adopt the new name.
