Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

  4. Note: in some countries, if a leader wrongly calls for Martial Law, then trying to stop duly elected officials from voting in parliament in a way they don’t like, they may get arrested…

    South Korean law enforcement officials arrested impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol on Wednesday, executing a warrant Yoon and his attorneys condemned as illegal.

    Yoon is facing criminal charges of insurrection and abuse of power – crimes exempt from executive immunity – as a result of his failed attempt to impose martial law on the country in early December. Yoon, a conservative, claimed in a national address that imposing military rule was necessary to stop legislative obstructionism by the leftist Democratic Party in the National Assembly.

Anti-Zionist activist group Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) has agreed to pay $677,634 to settle allegations that it defrauded federal Coronavirus pandemic financial loan programs by stating on applications that it was not a political or lobbying entity, the District of Columbia US Attorney’s Office and US Small Business Administration announced on Tuesday.

    JVP will be paying twice the amount it received for a $338,817 second-draw loan under the Paycheck Protection Act Program, created as part of the 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Disaster Relief Program to provide support to American citizens, businesses, and organizations suffering economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  12. As Israel focuses on a potential hostage deal it is important to understand how Hamas will seek to continue to exploit the conflict with Israel. Hamas has thrived for forty years on being underestimated.

    When it was founded in the late 1980s its goal was to challenge the leading Palestinian group, Fatah, and fill a void it had identified in Palestinian politics. Hamas succeeded in the late 1980s and 1990s by being underestimated. It also thrived because it was often able to convince some voices in Israel that Hamas was a positive alternative to the other Palestinian groups. Sometimes it preyed cynically on this tendency in Israel to want to balance Fatah and the Palestinian Authority with Hamas.

    Hamas has always been a genocidal terrorist group. It has always used massacre as a means to prevent peace. However, no matter the body count and the level of its crimes, it has been able to lull Israel and the region into accepting Hamas. It accomplishes this in several ways.

      Others include blah-blah, the mastermind behind 90% of suicide bombing attacks during the Second Intifada between 2000 and 2005, and blah-blah, the principal planner of the 2002 Passover massacre in Netanya who was sentenced to 35 life terms.

    • How Can President Trump Put Pressure on Hamas?

      Senior Israeli security officials believe incoming President Trump can exert substantial pressure on Hamas directly and through intermediaries.

      The U.S. could pressure countries hosting Hamas leaders – such as Qatar, Turkey, Lebanon, Algeria, Sudan, Malaysia, and Indonesia – to either arrest these individuals or expel them. The U.S. could urge Turkey to shut down Hamas’s offices in Istanbul and deport key leaders.

      The U.S. could impose sanctions to freeze bank accounts belonging to senior Hamas officials in Qatar, Turkey, and Lebanon. Sanctions could also be imposed on Turkish money exchange offices that facilitate laundering and transferring funds to Hamas.

      The U.S. could reduce the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, which Hamas often seizes and resells to fund its operations. It could also provide international backing for Israel’s aggressive actions against Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza.

      From Israel: Awaiting Good News, But…!!

      Fervently did I hope to be able to do a “good news” posting – tracking progress we are making in several quarters. There is some good news, but as I write this, I feel considerable unease, or, more honestly put, a great heavyheartedness.

      We may be, it seems, on the cusp of a completed hostage deal – at least this is the way it is being reported by several media sources. We are being told that at this point that we are closer than we have been since the only successful deal to date, in November 2023, when some 40 Israeli hostages were released in three separate exchanges, along with other captives, Thai, etc.

      Because of the imminence of the deal, I have tabled what I was working on and want to put this out.

      The Hamas Surrender Deal Sets Up Trump to Fail

      Let’s be clear about two things

      1. The Hamas Surrender Deal is the same deal the Biden administration has been pushing all along which consists of Israel giving Hamas everything it wants in exchange for the release of living or dead hostages.

      The final terms haven’t yet been made public, but a leaked draft calls for exchanging live terrorists for dead hostages, an Israeli withdrawal, and Qatar being allowed to ‘reconstruct’ Gaza.

      Attempts to ‘sell’ the deal hinge on such details as whether Israel will be able to go back into Gaza which will be subject to interpretation. Based on past history, the interpretation that will be followed is the one that forces an end to the fighting.

      2. The Hamas Surrender Deal puts the Trump administration in charge of then enacting and managing a policy crafted by the Biden administration and Qatar. The consequences when it inevitably falls apart will be on Trump.

      Only so much can be known from outside, but Steve Witkoff appears to have been taken for a ride by longtime pros like Secretary of State Blinken {spit} and Brett McGurk {spit} and is enjoying the flattering media stories about him ‘intimidating’ and ‘cursing out’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

      Witkoff is being taken for a ride and the Trump administration is being taken for a ride with him. He didn’t succeed, he failed miserably at extracting meaningful concessions from Hamas, and went right back to Biden’s policy of pressuring Israel. Instead of delivering a win for Trump, he delivered one for Biden.

      Instead of crafting its own foreign policy, the Trump administration is being stuck with Biden’s policy of pandering to Islamic terrorists.

      And that’s a disaster not only for Israel. but for America.

      After the initial euphoria of freeing a few hostages, the Trump administration will be stuck managing Gaza, it will be stuck funding the mess, pressuring Israel not to go after terrorists and when the thousands of freed Hamas terrorists kill Americans, the Trump administration will be blamed.

      The smart play was to let Israel win the war without getting involved. The dumb play was Witkoff doing whatever Blinken told him to do.

      The Trump administration should not let Witkoff hang Biden’s Hamas Surrender Plan around its neck. That’s setting it up to fail and lose, to show weakness, and to be stuck dealing with a never ending problem in Gaza.

    • Praise that Israeli hostages are coming home, but a deal that keeps Hamas in power is a bad one

      The cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas is meant to be a first step, and we don’t know what happens next, or the promises that were made behind the scenes….

      Yet it is very hard to observe this deal and see it as anything other than an utter and complete disgrace – and an embarrassment for America.

      First, and most devastating, Hamas remains in power. Greatly weakened, true, and hampered by increased Israeli military presence in Gaza, but able to claim ultimate victory.

      Because a terror organization, as the old chestnut goes, wins just as long as it doesn’t lose, and forcing Israel to cease fire, release terrorists, and succumb to a long list of demands in order to receive the rest of its hostages is a major victory for Hamas.

      And not a symbolic one, at that: Mahmoud Abbas, the corrupt and despotic president of the Palestinian Authority, is 89 years old and ailing.

      A deal that keeps Hamas in power now almost certainly means that when Abbas dies, the organization will be in position to seize the mantle of leadership in the West Bank as well, growing its power and influence.

      Just as troubling is what the deal suggests about the political machinations in Washington, DC.

      Why would Trump, who repeatedly said there would be “hell to pay” if the hostages weren’t released before he takes office, put his weight behind a deal that, with very few and very minor details, is the exact same one peddled, unsuccessfully and for many months now, by the Biden administration?

      It isn’t easy trying to figure out what would make Trump support such a flawed deal, one that doesn’t even return all the hostages at once and leaves Hamas plenty of leverage in the coming weeks and months.

      Was the president-elect played and lulled into submission by Washington’s “Deep State”? Was he swayed by interested parties in his inner circle into making rash and unprincipled decisions?

      We’ve no way of knowing, and it’s a testament to the deal’s glaring imperfections that Trump’s sudden and enthusiastic support for the bad old terms of the Biden administration would launch conspiracy theories aplenty.…

        The Israeli negotiating team was recently informed that Hamas decided at the last minute to make new demands – this time regarding the Philadelphi corridor, in contrast to the maps that have already been approved by the cabinet and American mediators.

        Israel strongly opposed any changes to these maps, the source said.

        An informed source told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that Hamas found a “loophole” in the agreed-upon deal, with Egypt agreeing to amend the deal and “close the loophole” based on Hamas’s demands in the latter stages and in coordination with the Israeli team, as per the Arab media report.

  13. Iran’s navy received its first signals intelligence ship on Wednesday, semi-official Tasnim news organisation reported, a few days after the country’s army took delivery of 1,000 new drones.

    The Zagros is a new category of military vessel equipped with electronic sensors and the ability to intercept cyber-operations and conduct intelligence monitoring, Tasnim said.

    “The Zagros signals intelligence ship will be the watchful eye of Iran’s navy in the seas and oceans,” Navy Commander Shahram Irani said.

    It doesn’t say who they are, who pays them to exist, what their agenda is (besides the meaningless platitudes on their home page), where they are based, or how they are financed. It also seems their idea of protecting Canada begins and ends with Poilievre in its crosshairs, so mass immigration of sub-prime human capital, the drug epidemic and economic decay don’t matter.

    Gee, I wonder who would create such an entity (copywrite 2025, no less) so since Trudeau said he was resigning.
