Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  9. Does Chrystia Freeland believe 2+2 =5? This might help explain the fiscal mess this country is in. Why did Justine appoint a woman with a degree in Russian Studies to be the Finance Minister?

    Will Carnie Carney, the global climate crisis clown propose Canada should stop wasting our tax dollars on the charade? does he believe 2+2=5?

    • I now understand how the migration numbers got sooo screwed up. We are told Canada’s population grew by 1.3 million between January 23 and January 24. That makes no sense “IF” you believe the numbers we were told — 2+2=5.

      Ten years ago the ZOE Report out of Germany warned of the drug resistant TB being imported.

  10. We need a list, certainly from Canada but of all COMINTERN countries, of ministers and politicians with serious portfolios that have no actual expertise or experience in the fields for which they are in charge.

    You point out Freeland’s degree is in Russian studies. I didn’t know that. But am not surprised.
    Our minister of health during Covid had a diploma in graphic design and no medical background at all.

    A list of all such ministers would be a powerful thing.

      A report by the campaign group Global Witness linked deforestation alerts from Brazil’s atip al Institute for Space Research to companies owned or controlled by Brookfield.Brookfield subsidiaries deforested around 9,000 hectares on 8 large farms in Cerrado region of Brazil bordering the Amazon rainforest.
      600,000 tones of CO2 was emitted by this tragic deforestation.

(Richard: FYI, in the US the County Sheriff is the ultimate decision maker on crime investigation in their county [Some Northeastern States have taken all investigative and decision making authority from the Sheriffs) they decide who investigates what crimes. The degree to which this power is used depends on who is Sheriff, a former Sheriff in my home county was famous for telling the State to but out of his investigations.)

    Echoing Abraham Lincoln’s prophetic concern, America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we have destroyed ourselves from within.

    It is with profound concern and urgency that we confront an unsettling reality that echoes Lincoln’s warning – a reality where our nation’s foundation is being intentionally destroyed.

    As we examine what is taking place in America today, one must pose the grave question championed by Patrick Henry: “Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation?”

    Today, a myriad of catastrophic issues including rampant crime, pervasive drug trafficking, political corruption, deep-seated divisiveness, and a staggering $36 trillion national debt, paint a harrowing picture.

    Furthermore, a complicit dishonest media, egregious human trafficking, and the systematic evisceration of our Constitution, signal that Lincoln’s dire prediction may indeed be our nation’s epitaph.

    The escalation of organized violence and racial tension, precipitated and often orchestrated by our own government and its media partners, is alarming. Those voicing legitimate concerns over the devastation of open borders and illegal alien invasions are unjustly branded as racists, thus, perpetuating a cycle of unbridled lawlessness.

    However, be it known to one and all; there are lawful, peaceful, and effective solutions. The Supreme Law of the United States of America states unambiguously, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion.” Art 4, Sec 4, U S Constitution.

    Evidence mounts daily of corrupt political ?gures who not only tolerate but promote illegal immigration, effectively aiding and abetting those who invade our borders.

    This criminal abetment has enabled international terrorists and violent cartels and gangs, to wreak havoc across our nation, from overtaking residential complexes in Colorado to compromising our electoral integrity, as evidenced by Arizona’s and Oregon’s recent admissions of “accidentally” registering non-citizens to vote.

    The evidence is overwhelming and very clear that the Justice Department, DHS, FBI, and the White House, will do nothing to stop the criminal activity at our borders, leaving our nation vulnerable and exposed to what can only be described as orchestrated high crimes and treason.

    In light of this national crisis, we only have one alternative, the States and Counties. We urgently call upon the Governors and Attorneys General of each State and the Sheriffs of every county and parish to initiate comprehensive investigations to determine who is responsible for these crimes and expose their motives. No One Is Above The Law!

    Sheriffs, Governors, and Attorneys General possess legitimate authority and jurisdiction where violations have occurred. In fact, Sheriff Mark Lamb, one of our nation’s most dedicated sheriffs, has already completed a criminal investigation on Homeland Security Director Alejandro Mayorkas.

    The case has been referred to the County Attorney for prosecution. The rest of the States should follow suit. The survival of our nation and the safety of the American people are in your hands.

  13. Former ICE Director Tom Homan on Potential Terror Attack Due to Kamala’s Open Borders: “Oh, It’s Comin”

    In October, former Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Tom Homan, joined Behind Enemy Lines podcast hosts Terry Newsome and Paul Drabik to talk about the disastrous border crisis.

    The podcast duo teamed up with Gateway Pundit in 2024 to shine a light on the effect of mass immigration to the city of Chicago and the sanctuary state of Illinois.

    Chicago has been overrun by imported crime through mass immigration.

    Tren de Aragua, the transnational Venezuelan criminal gang, has been spotted in Chicago and its suburbs. To make matters worse, the Illinois taxpayer is on the hook for feeding and housing the “migrants.”

    During the interview, Director Homan addresses the issue of NGOs and the Catholic Church making billions off of the immigration crisis. Gateway Pundit previously reported that Catholic Charities is colluding with the city of Chicago and an Obama-affiliated NGO to place people for up to six months in apartments.

    In the period between December 2022 and February 2023 over 15,200 people were settled.

    According to reports made to the City of Chicago by Catholic Charities caseworkers, 3,445 of the 15,200 were moved to housing.

    It’s no wonder that Illinois raised taxes by $1 billion in 2024. The largest increase will go to “human services,” which will allocate the lion’s share to emergency funding for migrants arriving in Chicago.

    Many of the newly arriving immigrants are children. While discussing the subject of missing and trafficked children, Director Homan addressed the Biden Administration’s culpability.

    According to Homan, the Trump administration had been DNA testing children to ensure the sponsors who claimed the children were related.

    Homan says that this policy was abandoned by the Biden administration because it is “…cutting time in detention…” and as a result, “…no overcrowding, then we can claim everything’s under control.”

    However, human trafficking has been a major problem amongst the mass-migrated population.

    In May of 2024, The Gateway Pundit and Behind Enemy Lines reported – through a FOIA request – evidence of human trafficking found on a government-funded “Vortex” phone belonging to a “migrant.”

    Most concerning is the number of missing children. According to another Gateway Pundit article from October 16th, there are over 300,000 children unaccounted for by DHS.

    Homan tells Behind Enemy Lines that over 148,000 children have been released to a sponsor for which the Federal government cannot find either the child or the sponsor.

    Director Homan describes a manufactured chaos. The federal government is seemingly creating a new class of citizen where they will take in an immigrant without vetting or requiring identification.

    Anecdotally, Homan describes being at the border and finding troves of passports and other documentation amongst abandoned encampments.

    Homan notes that people can provide names to the authorities at the border and they will in turn provide that person with documentation allowing them to travel and board a plane.

    The question becomes, how can that identifying document be used at their destination within the United States?

    For example, it’s interesting to note that Illinois has same-day voter registration. Can citizens be guaranteed that voter fraud via unvetted immigrants is being protected against?

    The most concerning assertion from Director Homan was in response to the question about a potential terror attack. In reference to the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th of 2023, Drabik asked Director Homan how realistic a similar situation in the United States would be.

    Homan’s response was, “Oh, it’s comin.” Of course, Homan’s response is not all that surprising given the Federal government’s border policy and the information already available to the public.

    According to Customs and Border Protection, there have been over 400 encounters by border patrol with individuals on the terrorist watchlist in 2024 alone! As Homan points out, that does not include the over 2 million “gotaways” that the government has no ability to track.

    Finally, Director Homan made an interesting comment regarding President Trump’s future policy toward the drug cartels.

    Homan observes that the drug cartels are responsible for killing a quarter million Americans through fentanyl alone.

    Regarding the cartels, Homan says of a future Trump administration, “…So he’s gonna designate them as a terrorist organization, and he’s gonna wipe them off the face of the earth.”

    This would be a fascinating development for the future of United States national security. Perhaps Homan is letting the cat out of the bag.

    However, President Trump had seemingly shifted toward an isolationist foreign policy posture during his first administration.

    It would follow that disembarking from the involvement in foreign wars would allow the United States to focus on strengthening national security at home.

    Given Trump’s recent partnership with RFK and the “Make America Healthy Again,” addition to the campaign, it would certainly help to eliminate the fentanyl scourge brought about by the cartels. Regardless, a safe border includes Tom Homan as a main ingredient to a new, and healthier America.

    The eye-watering financial cost of the migrant crisis hit $150 billion last year and is causing devastating consequences for residents of hard-hit cities struggling to cope with the influx, The Post has learned.

    Of that figure, calculated by Washington DC-based non-profit Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), $67 billion came from the federal government, but the majority of the burden was shouldered by states and local governments.

    In addition to the Iranian dissidents that it has been hunting for years, the Iranian regime now literally hunts Jews in Europe.

    Iran, in other words, has extended its operations from having terrorists as proxies to having criminals as proxies.

    According to Britain’s MI5, the situation is about to get much worse….

    Despite all this clear knowledge… the leadership of the European Union and the UK refuse to designate the IRGC a terrorist organization. Instead, European countries target Israel with arms boycotts, constant condemnation and general opprobrium, although Israel’s fight against Iran belongs at least as much to Europe and the West, no matter how hard — out of dread — they might try to deny it.

    If they think that pressuring Israel not to confront this existential threat will make it disappear, they are sadly mistaken. As in World War II, it is by supporting Israel in defeating aggression that they will stop it.

    Last year, by an overwhelming majority, the European Parliament passed a resolution to that effect, but the EU nevertheless refused to designate the IRGC as such. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell claimed there were legal obstacles, however, that claim has been refuted as a lie.

    After Iran’s direct missile attack on Israel on April 13, the European Parliament again, by an overwhelming majority, adopted a resolution to designate the IRGC a terrorist organization…. It also requested that the EU add Hezbollah to the terror list. Borrell, once more, simply refused, arguing that “listing this organisation as a ‘terrorist organisation’ would have no practical effect.”

    Designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization would make it possible to press terrorism charges and prosecute both members of the organization and those supporting it. It seems as if the majority of European leaders are once again determined, as in appeasing Churchill’s crocodile, to be “eaten last.”

    “Putting IRGC on the EU terror list is an important step to protect the national security, to protect our communities, particularly the Iranian diaspora and the Jewish community because there is a genuine terror threat and because they are not only targeting and conducting terror plots but they are also nurturing homegrown Shia islamist radicalisation, using the Isis and Al Qaeda methods. However, because IRGC is not proscribed (as a terror group), these activities are not outlawed.” — Kasra Aarabi, director of IRGC research at United Against Nuclear Iran, eureporter.co, May 6, 2024.

    Are European politicians really that eager for the votes of their unassimilable newcomers — who appear to be planning to take over Europe? Or are Europe’s politicians afraid that if they fail to delegitimize Israel at every opportunity, the newcomers might inflict even more terrorism on European soil? Does Europe really want to live in a state of being permanently extorted? The price goes only one way: up.

    Iran, the world’s “leading state sponsor of terrorism,” has been recruiting gang members and drug dealers in Europe to murder Iranian dissidents, Israelis and Jews, according to a report published in September.     Iran, the world’s “leading state sponsor of terrorism,” has been recruiting gang members and drug dealers in Europe to murder Iranian dissidents, Israelis and Jews, according to a report published in September by the European Investigative Collaborations (EIC) organization and journalists from nine outlets, including France’s Mediapart, Germany’s Der Spiegel, Spain’s Infolibre and Israel’s Shomrim.

    This is happening at the same time as Europe, and most of the world, led by the Biden-Harris administration, are doing all they can to stop Israel from putting an end to the Iranian regime and its multiple terrorist and proxy wars against Israel from Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Sudan.

    US and European authorities have termed it the “Iranian Transnational Assassinations Network.” One of these networks — there are several — is led by a drug dealer. According to the US Treasury Department:

    “The network is led by Iranian narcotics trafficker Naji Ibrahim Sharifi-Zindashti (Zindashti) and operates at the behest of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS). Zindashti’s network has carried out numerous acts of transnational repression including assassinations and kidnappings across multiple jurisdictions in an attempt to silence the Iranian regime’s perceived critics. The network has also plotted operations in the United States…

    “The MOIS and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have long targeted perceived regime opponents in acts of transnational repression outside of Iran, a practice that the regime has accelerated in recent years. A wide range of dissidents, journalists, activists, and former Iranian officials have been targeted for assassination, kidnapping, and hacking operations across numerous countries in the Middle East, Europe, and North America. The regime increasingly relies on organized criminal groups in furtherance of these plots in an attempt to obscure links to the Government of Iran and maintain plausible deniability.”

    The criminal groups hired by Iran increasingly target Israelis and Jews in Europe, including Israeli embassies and private Jewish individuals:

    In Sweden, two violent criminal gangs, “Foxtrot,” headed by Iranian-born criminal Rawa Majid, and its rival “Rumba,” headed by Ismail Abdo, have reportedly been recruited by Iran, which pays them to commit terror against Israeli and Jewish targets in Europe. The two gangs have been connected with repeated shooting attacks against the Israeli Embassy in Stockholm. Foxtrot, according to Swedish public broadcaster SVT, was also behind an attack using hand grenades close to the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen on October 2. Three “Swedish” men were arrested in connection with the attack.

    An Iranian-recruited terror cell arrested in France was plotting the murder of four Israeli citizens working in France, as well as three senior members of the Jewish community in Germany, according to the Shomrim report. The terror cell, apparently recruited to set fire to buildings belonging to Israeli-owned companies in the south of France, was headed by “a major drug dealer” from the Lyon area called Umit Bulbul, whom French authorities believe to be currently in Iran. The cell’s operations were carried out by Algerian-born French national known as Abdulkarim S, who has previously served prison time for his involvement in a gang warfare double-murder in Marseilles, in addition to drug trafficking.

    According to the Shomrim report:

    “In order to maintain a degree of separation from the terror cells it operates in Europe and to ensure plausible deniability, there is no direct contact between Tehran and members of the cells. In the case of the recently detained French cell, instructions on where and when to carry out attacks were relayed via international networks of criminals and drug smugglers.”

    One of the Israelis targeted in France, Roey, was informed by French security services that an Iranian-directed terror cell was planning to kill him. For months, he received more such alerts; was told that it would be safer for him to leave the country, and that he would have to move between no fewer than six different apartments during his time in France. In addition to the Iranian dissidents that it has been hunting for years, the Iranian regime now literally hunts Jews in Europe.

    Iran, according to reports, was behind the foiled terrorist attack against the Chabad House of Athens, Greece, which hosts a Jewish community center and a kosher restaurant. Here, Iran, via a Pakistani named Sayed Fakhar Abbas, offered to pay a local acquaintance in Greece 15,000 euros for each Jew that he managed to kill.

    According to the Washington Post, Iran hires Eastern European criminals as well as “old” and established gangs, such as Hells Angels. Iran, in other words, has extended its operations from having terrorists as proxies to having criminals as proxies. The Washington Post wrote:

    “In recent years, Iran has outsourced lethal operations and abductions to Hells Angels biker gangs, a notorious Russian mob network known as ‘Thieves in Law,’ a heroin distribution syndicate led by an Iranian narco-trafficker and violent criminal groups from Scandinavia to South America.”

    Earlier this year, an Iranian couple in Sweden, pretending to be Afghan refugees — who had arrived in 2015 with fake identities but were acting at the behest of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC — were caught plotting to kill three Swedish Jews.

    There is nothing new about these Iranian terrorist activities, but they appear to have accelerated since October 7, at least when it comes to Israeli and Jewish targets. It is estimated that Iran has been hiring criminals for murder abroad for at least a decade.

    According to Britain’s MI5, the situation is about to get much worse: the UK will see a “staggering rise” in assassination attempts by Iranian-hired criminals, but also by criminals hired by Russia, with both countries recruiting from the underworld to “do their dirty work.”

    MI5 Director General Ken McCallum said that in the UK alone, his organization had foiled 20 “potentially lethal” plots backed by Iran since 2022 with the majority of the threats until now aimed at Iranians abroad.

    McCallum said that radicalized individuals and a revived Islamic State group have combined to create “the most complex and interconnected threat environment we’ve ever seen.”

    Despite all this clear knowledge about the Iranian regime’s assassination and terrorist plots on European soil — and the IRGC’s crucial role in them — the leadership of the European Union and the UK refuse to designate the IRGC a terrorist organization. Instead, European countries target Israel with arms boycotts, constant condemnation and general opprobrium, although Israel’s fight against Iran belongs at least as much to Europe and the West, no matter how hard — out of dread — they might try to deny it.

    As stated by the US Congress, the IRGC “trains, funds, arms, and shares intelligence with dangerous proxy forces throughout the Middle East and abroad” and also, as described by the Wall Street Journal, prepared and trained Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists for the October 7, 2023 massacre in Israel. If they think that pressuring Israel not to confront this existential threat will make it disappear, they are sadly mistaken. As in World War II, it is by supporting Israel in defeating aggression that they will stop it.

    The US Congress, Israel and thousands of Iranians have urged the European Union to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization. Last year, by an overwhelming majority, the European Parliament passed a resolution to that effect, but the EU nevertheless refused to designate the IRGC as such. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell claimed there were legal obstacles, however, that claim has been refuted as a lie.

Borrell, once more, simply refused, arguing that “listing this organisation as a ‘terrorist organisation’ would have no practical effect.”

    German MEP Hannah Neumann said in response:

    “What more does this regime have to do until you finally wake up to the harsh realities? The IRGC is a terror organisation …The drones and missiles attacking Israel and attacking our ships in the Red Sea are manufactured in Iran, and we should have sanctioned all those involved months ago.”

    Swedish MEP Charlie Weimers bluntly called Borrell a liar:

    “You shamelessly lied to protect the IRGC. We won’t miss you, Mr. Borrell, but I’m sure the mullahs will.”

    The IRGC is not designated a terrorist organization by any of the individual European states either, including the UK, but in May, the Swedish parliament voted in favor of designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization. Sweden has also been pressing the EU to do the same.

    Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said in October:

    “The only reasonable consequence is that we get a common terror classification, so that you can act more broadly than the sanctions that already exist.”

    Designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization would make it possible to press terrorism charges and prosecute both members of the organization and those supporting it. It seems as if the majority of European leaders are once again determined, as in appeasing Churchill’s crocodile, to be “eaten last.”

    Kasra Aarabi, director of IRGC research at United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), said:

    “Putting IRGC on the EU terror list is an important step to protect the national security, to protect our communities, particularly the Iranian diaspora and the Jewish community because there is a genuine terror threat and because they are not only targeting and conducting terror plots but they are also nurturing homegrown Shia islamist radicalisation, using the Isis and Al Qaeda methods.     Air raid sirens echoed across Tel Aviv on Wednesday as United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken prepared to end a visit. Smoke, apparently from an intercepted projectile, could be seen in the sky above the hotel where Blinken was staying.

    Blinken urged Israel to use its recent tactical victories against Hamas to seek a war-ending deal and bring back dozens of hostages, before leaving Wednesday for Saudi Arabia as part of his 11th visit to the region since the start of the Israel-Hamas war.

    Both sides appear to be dug in. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to annihilate Hamas and recover dozens of hostages held by the group. Hamas says it will only release the captives in return for a lasting cease-fire, a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the release of Palestinian prisoners.

    Hunters take note: State attorneys are arguing your rifles are not “constitutionally” protected in Connecticut.

    In a significant legal debate before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit that could impact hunters across Connecticut, state attorneys are arguing that hunting rifles, particularly semi-automatic ones, are not protected by the Constitution.

    According to attorney Joshua Perry, representing the Connecticut Attorney General’s office, the Second Amendment protects guns commonly used for self-defense, but not hunting rifles. As if there is a difference!? Perry’s arguments were made during a hearing at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit as part of a lawsuit filed by the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) and a co-plaintiff, Toni Theresa Spera.
    The lawsuit challenges Connecticut’s restrictive gun control law passed after the Sandy Hook tragedy, which bans the sale of firearms classified as “assault weapons.”

    National Association for Gun Rights and Spera believe these laws infringe on their Second Amendment rights. However, Perry contends that Connecticut has the authority to regulate firearms that are not typically used for self-defense, suggesting that hunting rifles do not fall under this category.

    Perry also referenced a previous Supreme Court ruling (Columbia v. Heller), which upheld the ban on M16 rifles, stating that the Constitution guarantees the right to self-defense but does not offer blanket protection for all weapons.

    Opposing Perry’s stance, attorney Barry Arrington, representing the National Association for Gun Rights, argued that the AR-15, the most popular rifle in the U.S., is neither dangerous nor unusual and should be protected. Arrington pointed out that despite political rhetoric, AR-15s are rarely used in mass shootings, with over 75% of such incidents involving handguns. He criticized Connecticut’s laws as politically motivated rather than based on crime reduction.

    This case could set a precedent for how firearms used for hunting are treated under the law, especially as Connecticut continues to defend its strict gun regulations. For now, while hunting rifles remain legal in the state, their constitutional protection remains in question.

  19. Kunce Gets Blasted for Nearly Blasting Reporter

    Ah, Lucas Kunce. The former Marine turned Democratic candidate to represent Missouri in the Senate.

    What can we say about him that hasn’t been said already? Well, I said part of it, of course. His “shooting event” was an absolute disaster, resulting in a reporter being injured, and his attempt to spin it as a “grace under pressure” moment was laughable considering what he should know as a supposed combat veteran.

    Yeah, that’s what I got hung up on because as a former Navy Corpsman, that’s where my foundation sort of lies.

    But a lot of other people had a field day with Kunce’s event and quite a few caught some things I missed.

    “They are shooting steel at 5-7 yards with rifles, which could’ve killed somebody given the force with which the bullets will ricochet off the steel targets at that distance,” CEO of The Federalist and gun range owner Sean Davis said on X. “You would instantly get permanently banned at my range if you did that. Zero questions asked.”

    “There are at least two canisters of explosive Tannerite powder on the table, down range from where guns are being fired,” Davis said on X. “That could’ve potentially killed or seriously injured someone if someone shot it or if someone was stupid enough to be shooting close enough to steel for a ricochet to hit it.”

    “Democrats Lucas Kunce & Adam Kinzinger apparently accidentally shot a reporter at an event today,” Hawley spokesperson Abigail Jackson said on X. “Are these guys trying to make Tim Walz look competent with a gun?”

    Davis is absolutely correct about the distances here. That range is fine for handguns, but rifles have more velocity and power, meaning this is one of those things that’s bound to happen if you are stupid like this.

    At least one person with some range design experience in my circle of acquaintances noted that steel plates need something like a 10- to 15-degree angle to prevent that kind of thing from happening. I can’t really tell if they did that or not because I suck at determining angles from visual examination and I’m not afraid to admit it.

    But now let’s talk Tannerite. Was it there?

    Oh yeah.

    Look at that first pic. See the orange labels sitting on the table?

    That’s Tannerite.

    It’s possible those were empty or something and just sitting there, but considering literally every other way they screwed the pooch, I’m skeptical. For one thing, most people aren’t dumping Tannerite into other containers all that often because why bother? For another, no one should be shooting Tannerite on that range. That’s something you should do at some distance because, you know, explosive.

    The truth of the matter is that Kunce is trying to position himself as the alpha dog here. He’s trying to make a play for Missouri’s gun owners to at least sit this one out because hey, he’s just like them. He’s a shooter and he won’t attack their Second Amendment rights.

    Of course, he’s said otherwise in the past–ironically suggesting raising the age in which people can buy guns because of supposed concerns regarding their training, for example–but he’s hoping people won’t notice.

    However, what he managed to do here is make Tim Walz look competent with a firearm, which is saying something.

    As I noted in my previous piece on this, Kunce isn’t exactly threatening in the polls. I can’t imagine accidentally injuring a reporter through gross incompetence is going to help with that.

  20. FBI And DEA Gun Parts Slated For Destruction Found In Seized Ghost Gun

    A new Department of Justice, Office of the Inspector General (OIG) audit questions how FBI and DEA gun parts slated for destruction ended up in a “ghost gun” seized during a criminal investigation. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Drug Enforcement Agency are being accused of storing the pistol parts where they could easily be taken by anyone inside their Quantico, VA training academy.

    “We concluded that inadequate policies regarding the destruction of employee issued firearms create significant risks that firearms or their parts could be lost or stolen and used in subsequent crimes without accountability,” said the advisory memo from Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz to FBI Director Christopher Wray and DEA Administrator Anne Milgram.

    During the OIG inquiry, Horowitz concluded the items most likely came out of unsecured barrels that both agencies used to store employee gun parts prior to destruction, with the report stating that virtually anyone working at Quantico could access the “gun cleaning room” where the barrels were stored.

    “The gun cleaning room was accessible to thousands of employees and contractors at Quantico, including FBI and DEA armory employees, FBI and DEA academy trainers and students, cleaning staff, maintenance contractors, and others. Because the gun cleaning room was in a shared building that also held the Quantico cafeteria, security control measures were limited to a Quantico access card provided to every individual that had access to the grounds at Quantico. There were no safeguards to ensure that the location where the slides and barrels were stored was secured, document who had access to the location or DEA property, or document when the slides and barrels were destroyed,” according to the memo.

    In addition, neither agency claims they had set a protocol for handling the parts.

    Have you ever been caught doing something wrong, so you took full responsibility for negligence in an attempt to disarm your accuser because you knew the punishment, if any at all, would be far less than copping to something more wilfully nefarious, which was what you were really up to? Yeah, that’s what this sounds like to me.

    “Indeed, in the investigation that led to this memorandum, the OIG was unable to identify the individual or individuals who stole the DEA slide and barrel that were later recovered during an arrest,” Horowitz wrote in the memo.

    I’m also more than a little annoyed by the cavalier attitude of, “Oh well, we can’t really pin this on any person or group of people, so just be more careful next time.” Try making “mistakes” of a similar nature as a private citizen and you’ll see a whole different perspective on what .gov expects when it comes to accountability.

    This became an issue in 2023 when it was discovered that an unidentified suspect had been arrested with a “ghost gun,” typically constructed at home from kits that did not require a background check or serialization. While investigating the case, the DEA realized the barrel and slide came from one of the agency’s issued weapons that was scheduled to be destroyed in 2019.

    “According to DEA records, the slide and barrel were part of a DEA employee-issued firearm that had been destroyed over three years earlier,” the memorandum stated.

    Since completing the report, the agencies claim they have improved security measures and protocols for storing and destroying employee-issued firearms, with the FBI saying they have relocated the unit handling the guns to Alabama as of 2021.

    If I sound skeptical, it’s because I am. Consider businesses in the firearms industry that have been steamrolled, from bump stocks to pistol braces, forced reset triggers to 80% kits. The federal government has a way of letting you know that even if they lose in the end, the damage is already done. From pretending that the plain words of the Second Amendment might mean something different to double standards like the Fast and Furious debacle and arming terrorist organizations.   21. Armed Citizen Stops A Man Trying To Run Over Three People

    In yet another example of how people bent on mayhem and murder will find any way to accomplish their evil plans, a Columbus, Ohio, man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to run over three people with his vehicle following an argument. Sure, who hasn’t thought this was the best way to resolve a conflict? Fortunately, in yet another shining example, it was ultimately an armed citizen who stopped it from happening.

    Alexander Oglesby, 32, of Northeast Columbus reportedly drove his car onto the front lawn of a residence in the 1800 block of Noe Bixby Road in the early morning hours of October 5. The suspect intended to use his vehicle to run down three people in response to an argument that had taken place between the individuals earlier that evening.

    According to police, it was around 2 a.m. when the attack occurred, an altercation that could have ended in significant tragedy had it not been for one of the would-be victims pulling a firearm and taking a shot at Oglesby who was doing his best impression of Stunt Man Mike from the campy 2007 thriller, Death Proof. Unfortunately, nobody put a stop to that film’s production before it was too late, unlike this incident which came to an immediate halt when our armed citizen’s bullet struck the suspect in self-defense.

    Oglesby was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries before taking a taxpayer-funded ride to the Franklin County Jail where he was subsequently charged with three counts of felonious assault. While felonious assault charges are considered a second-degree felony in Ohio, and a conviction can result in significant prison time, I can’t really wrap my head around the idea that this isn’t attempted murder.

    Upon investigation, Columbus Police have concluded the obvious, calling the shooting an act of self-defense. I have to hand it to the shooter here as it can’t be easy to make a shot like that with adrenaline pumping and a vehicle barreling toward you. It is important to remember that there is never any argument that can not be de-escalated before someone decides to run people over with their car, however, people make strange and unaccountable decisions nonetheless. In this case, swift action saved not only our armed citizen’s life but the lives of two other people who, I’m positive, are grateful he had a gun that night.
