Reader’s Links for October 20th, 2024

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

For those interested, please check out https://vladtepesblog.substack.com/ as an another avenue of expression. The Substack is a different project in a sense. It is older videos that in the light of subsequent events, look different or of increased importance, Check it out now and again if you like.

  1. This Trudeau government just can’t get along with anyone, lately. It is squabbling with India, and now it accuses the communist Chinese of using slave labour. Why now?

Red China runs Dear Leader’s favorite system of gubmint, don’t forget. He said so. It is no secret they’ve always used slave labour. No self-respecting commie outfit goes without it. You can’t herd a flock of cats without putting those cats in chains.

So what’s going on? Will he also crack down on the massive amount of slavery in the Muslim world? Did he wake up yesterday with the epiphany that the Red Chinese were exploiting imprisoned Muslims? Or is this his way of virtue signaling to Canada’s now-huge tardish constituency?

“Get my sock valet immediately!” Dear Leader shouted yesterday morning when he heard about Chinese slaves. “I must call a press conference.”
“But, sir, your sock valet quit last week, remember?” his underwear valet, Nabu, replied.
“Oh, I forgot. Why’d he quit again?”
“You were paying him five cents a day and he asked for a raise, if you recall, sir.”
    “What did I say back?”
“You threw your piss pot at him.”
“Oh my God, yes. I remember now. The piss pot. What really made me angry was that he asked why I was still using a piss pot in the year 2024.”
“Yes sir, I know. It makes you feel somehow royal, if I understood your reasoning. I thought you were most balanced in your response.”
“Thank you, Nabu. At least someone around here understands me. It’s lonely at the top, I tell ya.”
    “Of course, sir.”
“My boyfriend, Roger, doesn’t even understand how frustrating things can be. I tried to explain to him that socks don’t sort themselves, but he wouldn’t listen. He just wants to talk about how we should fix the economy and all that nonsense I don’t underatand. Maybe I need a new Queen.”
“You are the Queen in the relationship, sir, if I may gently remind.”
    “Oh, right.”
“Yes, sir. You always say one must keep one’s priorities in order.”
“Exactly, Nabu! Thank you! By the way, how much am I paying you now?”
    “Twelve cents a week, sir.”
“Well, I think we can do better, don’t you? What if I double your salary to twenty-five cents? This way you can send money home to your family.”
    “You’re much too generous, sir.”
“But for that kind of money you will do my socks., too.”
    “Yes sir.”
“We will signal to Modi that Canada categorically refutes the Indian caste system in this country!”
    “Brilliant, sir.”
“I will call a press conference today to announce your raise. Modi and Xi can both suck my tailpipe.”
    “Yes sir. But–.”
    “–But what, Nabu?”
“Perhaps you should not publicize my raise. Such a move may antagonize your other Indian slaves.”
“Of course, Nabu. You are right as usual. You always have my interests at heart.”
“You are surrounded by daggers, sir.”
    “Be my eyes, loyal servant.”
    “Always, your Highness.”
“Now, summon the court jester. I can use a laugh.”
“You fired him two days ago, sir.”
    “Why’d I do that?”
“You said you were fed-up with Jews, sir.”
“Oh. Was he funnier than me?”
    “Never, sir.”
    “Good answer, Nabu. Good answer.”

  2. Jonathan Spyer !!
    – – I’ve worried about him for years!
British Ph.D. (when schools there were still first-rate), IDF soldier during the Second Lebanon War, he developed a sympathy for the indigenous victims of Moslem gangsters and loonies. As a journalist he embedded with Syrians, Lebanese, Kurds, and Yazidis.

Gone against many a grain… and done more for tragic victims of barbarians than any “humanitarian NGO” or fraudulent Nobel Peace Prize winner.)

A Yazidi former slave rescued from Gaza reveals her horrifying experiences in jihadi captivity

It is now two weeks since the rescue of the Yazidi hostage Fawzia Amin Sido from captivity in Gaza by the IDF, in a joint operation also involving the US Embassy.

Fawzia has been returned to her family in the Sinjar area of northern Iraq. This week, she sat for her first filmed interview since her liberation.

Alan Duncan, a former British soldier and volunteer fighter with the Iraqi Kurds who is now a documentary filmmaker, was part of a small group of people in Israel made aware of Fawzia’s plight in July. He was involved in subsequent efforts to lobby the Israeli authorities to act to free her. (Full disclosure: I was also a part of this group.)

Because of this involvement, the Sido family decided to grant Fawzia’s first recorded interview…

  3. Biden-Harris ‘Jekyll-Hyde’ Israel Policy

In the past week, the Biden-Harris administration has announced it would deploy the THAAD system to Israel – THAAD is an advanced missile defense system that can thwart short-, medium- and intermediate-range ballistic missiles, as well as the U.S. military personnel to operate it.

At the same time, the Biden-Harris administration has issued a blistering letter to Israel’s government threatening to withhold military resources at the time that Israel is planning its response to the October 1st Iranian attack (here’s a copy of the letter: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/25212303-bqshvt-hmmshl-hamryqny-bhqshrym-hvmnytrym%C2%A0 )

13:25 What are Israel’s Iron Dome and Arrow missile defenses?
17:33 How much R&D and production of these systems can be credited to Israel?
22:09 What is the THAAD system?
32:24 What is the Biden-Harris administration expressing in their letter to Israel’s government?
42:56 What does the administration mean by ‘withholding assistance’ to Israel?
49:50 How do we reconcile these two policies that are in conflict with one another?

  4. Israel wins. Iran club loses

    Stay on target.

In the aftermath of Yahya Sinwar’s death, it’s easy to get distracted by both the incessant deluge of new events and the erroneous but common assumption that “ending the war” is now about getting the remaining hostages back.

In the interest, precisely, of not being thus distracted, I want to keep this brief and start not with a summary from the last 24 hours, absorbing though its details may be, but with a direct statement of priorities for the immediate future.

The summary is this. Israel’s priority must be winning the war, meaning not having to fight this war again, or spend any more time trying to tend an inherently unstable situation like the one in which Hamas rides along inviolate, on the constant invocation of an “Oslo” framework end-state that quite obviously is
