Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Leo Hohmann: Pentagon Issues Federal Directive Allowing Military to use ‘Lethal Force’ Against Americans as Video Resurfaces Showing Kamala Fantasizing About Weaponizing DOJ Against U.S. Citizens
    thegatewaypundit.com/2024/10/leo-hohmann-pentagon-issues-federal-directive-allowing-military/

This article originally appeared on Leo Hohmann’s Substack and was republished with permission.

A video clip has resurfaced from May of 2019 in which Kamala Harris fantasizes about weaponizing the DOJ against speech the government doesn’t like, and the platforms that allow it.

In the meantime, one month before a tense presidential election, the U.S. Department of Defense has authorized U.S. military “defense intelligence components” to use “lethal force” against American citizens if requested by state or local law enforcement in an emergency situation. More on this in a minute, but first let’s get to the May 2019 video showing Kamala Harris unleashing her inner dictator.

Speaking at the annual NAACP ‘Fight for Freedom Fund’ dinner in Detroit, Harris threatened: “We will put the Department of Justice of the United States back in the business of justice. We will double the civil rights division, and direct Law Enforcement to counter this extremism.”

She went on to say she would “hold Social Media Platforms accountable for the hate infiltrating their platforms, because they have a responsibility to help fight against this threat to our Democracy. If you don’t police your platforms, we are going to hold you accountable…”

    Watch and listen below.

What she’s saying is chilling. She’s saying that she, or some entity in her administration, will decide what is appropriate speech and what is not. These are the musings of a dangerous authoritarian. This is the real Kamala Harris. You won’t find her talking smack like this on the campaign trail, where all we get is the warm and fuzzy Kamala who wants to help the middle class.

Holding platforms accountable for every opinion or rant placed on their platform means arrests will be made. It’s already happening in other formerly free countries. In the UK, thousands of British citizens were arrested, tried and convicted within a 72-hour period for posting photos and videos on social media that challenged the government narrative about recent rioting in the country.

In France, the government arrested the owner of Telegram, a popular social-media platform, because he refused to “cooperate” with government authorities seeking backdoor censorship avenues into his system.

This is the wave of the future, and it’s global in scope. Top U.S. Democrats like Hillary Clinton, Antony Blinken and John Kerry have all recently come out and said the First Amendment is a hindrance to establishing their globalist agenda centered on climate-change hysteria, fake elections and toxic mRNA injections for all. If you tell the truth about these issues, they call it disinformation and say it should be banned.

Federal Directive 5240.01 is a treasonous abuse of power

The U.S. Department of Defense issued a federal directive on September 27 that allows U.S. military troops to be used to “assist” state and local law enforcement upon request, with actions up to and including “lethal force.” This is Directive 5240.01. Read it for yourself. The timing of the directive is interesting, one month before an election that is widely expected to generate chaos and civil unrest.

The Directive states on page 13:

“Defense Intelligence Components may provide personnel to assist a Federal department or agency, including a Federal law enforcement agency, or a State or local law enforcement agency when lives are in danger, in response to a request for such assistance, in accordance with the following approval authorities.”

Page 13 goes on to discuss various activities, including the use of lethal force. Section C under “Secretary of Defense Approval,” states:

“Assistance in responding with assets with potential for lethality, or any situation in which it is reasonably foreseeable that providing the requested assistance may involve the use of force that is likely to result in lethal force, including death or serious bodily injury. It also includes all support to civilian law enforcement officials in situations where a confrontation between civilian law enforcement and civilian individuals or groups is reasonably anticipated. Such use of force must be in accordance with DoDD 5210.56, potentially as further restricted based on the specifics of the requested support.”

Listen to my discussion of this despicable Federal Directive 5240.01 with Brannon Howse on his talk show Brannon Howse Live last Friday, October 11. This federal directive is particularly concerning given the Department of Justice’s shift of focus in recent years from prosecuting foreign-based terrorists to going after what they consider domestic threats, i.e. patriotic conservative Christian Americans.

The federal government has been colluding with the major social media platforms for years, demanding that these platforms censor conservative content and then claiming that it’s not a violation of the First Amendment because it’s a private company doing the censoring. They’ve simply outsourced the censorship to the private sector. Just like they outsourced much of the Covid vaccine mandates to the private sector.

The goal is to require a biometric digital ID for all internet users at the ISP level. That means you won’t be able to log onto the internet without submitting your digital ID credentials, which will include your record as an obedient serf who only says what’s approved by the government, or a “troublemaker” who thinks independently and critically, always questioning official narratives and sometimes exposing them as lies. Everything you’ve ever posted online will be judged and “scored” for its level of obedience. No more anonymous commenting on articles. No more posting of articles that challenge the government narratives. All of this will be monitored and ferreted out by AI.

U.S. globalists may not have started arresting the truthtellers yet and putting them behind bars like in other Western nations, but they are censoring us and can’t wait, based on Kamala’s excited presentation above, to start rounding us up. We can’t let them do it.

The only reason the UK, Canada and EU countries are moving faster into the realm of criminalizing political dissent is because those countries don’t have a First Amendment. But we have the same globalists running our government as are running the governments of Canada, the UK, France and Germany, so we must be vigilant or they will find a way to turn the lights out on free speech.

And once the First Amendment rights to free speech are gone, they’re not coming back. In fact, all the other rights listed in the Bill of Rights will fall like dominoes, including your Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

These are frightening times to be living in the belly of the globalist beast system — the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the European Union. We can only make it through by relying on our Father God and his Son Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Only He can and will fully crush Satan and his demonic minions.

Unable to Run on Policies, Harris-Walz Amp Up the Fear-Mongering, Tell Voters in PA and WI Trump Will Use Military to Go After Them

Unable to articulate her own positions, let alone run on them, Kamala Harris has turned to a tried and true Democrat schtick-Donald Trump will use the military against anyone who doesn’t support him….next step, internment camps!

While speaking to a crowd in Pennsylvania, a state that sees the two candidates neck and neck in the polls, Harris warns, “He’s talking about the enemy within our country, Pennsylvania.”

“He’s talking about that he considers anyone who doesn’t support him or who will not bend to his will an enemy of our country. It’s a serious issue.”

“He is saying that he would use the military to go after them. Think about this.”

The Harris-Walz ticket is following a standard Dem playbook. In June, conspiracy theorist Rachel Maddow claimed that a re-elected President Trump would use his power to target his critics.

“When Trump invokes the Insurrection Act to deploy the U.S. military against civilians on his first day in office, do you think he then rescinds the order on day two?” Maddow said.

Adding, “For that matter, what convinces you that these massive camps he’s planning are only for migrants? So, yes, I’m worried about me — but only as much as I’m worried about all of us.”

There is one politician who embraces the idea of camps for political opponents, Democrat Paula Collins, who is running to defeat Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) in New York’s 21st congressional district.

In a Zoom call over the summer, Collins explained to her fans that a Democrat victory in November is not enough to ‘save the country,’ even if there is “a resounding blue wave.”

According to her, a final solution involving sending Trump supporters off to re-education camps is imperative as well.

  2. Repeated Attempts on Trump’s Life: A Major Threat to Democracy Ignored by the Administration
    thegatewaypundit.com/2024/10/repeated-attempts-trumps-life-major-threat-democracy-ignored/

Photo courtesy of Trump White House Archived on Facebook.

Kamala Hariss and Joe Biden have repeatedly called Trump a threat to democracy, while ignoring the real threat posed the many assassination attempts against him.

The fact that Iran has been linked to at least one of these attacks and that the FBI warned Trump that Iran is trying to kill him should be ringing alarm bells all over Washington. Instead, the media is downplaying the attacks.

Democrats and liberals on Twitter are either mocking the situation or criticizing Trump for bringing up these assassination attempts.

Meanwhile, the administration, beyond issuing an official statement, has made no effort to recognize or address the ongoing pattern of threats.

Due to the media and the administration’s disregard, most Americans believe there have only been two attempts, when in reality, the actual number is more than double that.

There have been more than four attempts or plots on Donald Trump’s life, each highlighting the ongoing threat to his security. In 2016, at a Las Vegas rally, British national Michael Steven Sandford attempted to seize a police officer’s gun to assassinate Trump but was arrested and later deported.

Fast forward to July 2024, during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump in the ear, injuring others and killing one attendee before being taken down by Secret Service agents.

Just a day before this shooting, Asif Merchant, a Pakistani national allegedly tied to Iranian operatives, was arrested for plotting to assassinate Trump and other U.S. officials after hiring an undercover FBI agent posing as a hitman.

Another attempt came in September 2024 when Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, armed with an AK-47 and charged with attempted assassination.

Most recently, in October 2024, Vem Miller was arrested near a Trump rally in Coachella, California, with an AK-47 and other weapons, though officials later stated that Trump was not in immediate danger.

Repeated assassination attempts or plots against a political figure like Donald Trump pose a significant threat to the stability of democracy.

At its core, democracy is built on the peaceful transfer of power and the rule of law, where political leaders and citizens alike engage in dialogue, debate, and elections without fear of violence.

When political leaders are targeted by assassination plots, it creates instability and undermines the democratic system, which relies on political processes rather than violent or coercive methods to resolve disagreements.

In Trump’s case, the fact that the opposition party is being targeted immediately fuels conspiracy theories, with some blaming the administration. When the administration completely dismisses these attempts, it only adds fuel to the fire. On top of this, Iran’s involvement is a clear national security issue that is being ignored, further substantiating claims that the administration might want Trump dead, even at the expense of national security.

These threats can also deter political leaders and the public from openly participating in the democratic process.

Fear of violence can create an environment in which free speech and political participation are restricted, as individuals may hesitate to express their views or run for office if they fear for their lives.

This chilling effect on political engagement is detrimental to democracy, where open discourse and competition are crucial.

With violence now heavily focused on Republicans, it gives the impression that Democrats are using violence to silence the opposition, whether they are or not.

Trending: FOX News’ Trump-Hating RINO Bret Baier Announces Interview with Kamala Harris – GETS ROASTED ON X – Roseanne Barr Wins the Day!

Furthermore, the rule of law is a cornerstone of democratic governance. If repeated assassination attempts occur, it signals potential weaknesses in the ability of law enforcement and security agencies to maintain order and protect political figures.

In a functioning democracy, leaders should be secure, and institutions must uphold the safety of all participants in the political process.

This only further fuels cries of conspiracy while disrupting the democratic process. With just weeks until the election, Republicans would find it nearly impossible to present a new candidate.

Assassination attempts also erode public trust in the political system. When violence becomes a recurring factor in politics, it can foster disillusionment, increase polarization, and drive citizens away from the democratic process, making it more difficult to maintain social and political cohesion.

After the controversy surrounding the 2020 election, it would seem logical for the administration to prioritize ensuring that the upcoming election is both safe and fair.

Protecting Trump from assassination attempts would be crucial to avoid further division and to guarantee that the election results are accepted by the public.

In addition, these events have global implications. Assassination attempts on a major political figure in a leading democracy like the U.S. can be exploited by foreign adversaries to delegitimize the country’s democratic institutions.

It weakens the U.S.’s standing as a model of democracy and can embolden authoritarian regimes to argue that violence and instability are inevitable consequences of democratic governance.

The U.S. is currently facing war with Russia, war with China, and war with Iran. This is not a time for the U.S. to look weak. Additionally, all of the world’s despots are watching and fear a Trump re-election. If he is eliminated, it will be like a signal for them to unleash chaos and do whatever they want.

  3. What Are They Hiding? Fani Willis Demands Her Lover Nathan Wade Not Answer Questions During Deposition Tomorrow Before House Judiciary Committee

Fulton County DA Fani Willis and lover Nathan Wade

Fulton County Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis sent out a letter to the Chairman Jim Jordan of the House Judiciary Committee on Friday.

Willis demanded that her lover Nathan Wade’s testimony be canceled this week.

House Judiciary Republicans released the letter publicly on Monday.

Fani’s lover Wade will be deposed on Tuesday before Congress. Willis is demanding that he not answer any questions.

Fani argues that Wade’s testimony “could violate protected privileges that are upheld by the Fulton County Attorney’s Office.

Fani wrote, “I am concerned that your demand for Mr. Wade’s testimony would force him to improperly divulge confidential information that is protected by privileges held by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office and demands that Mr. Wade violates State Bar of Georgia rules that govern the conduct of attorneys.”

Fani wants Chairman Jordan to retract the request for Nathan Wade to testify.

In March, Nathan Wade withdrew from the Trump lawfare RICO case after Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled District Attorney Fani Wills can continue her RICO case against Trump and his associates but that Wade must go.

Both Willis and Wade committed the same “improprieties,” but only Wade was told to step down by the conflicted judge.

In his 23-page decision, Judge McAfee ordered Fani Willis to address the “appearance of impropriety” before the case can move forward. McAfee ruled Willis could stay on the case but must fire her lover Nathan Wade, the top prosecutor she hired to hunt down Trump.

Nathan Wade resigned from the RICO case following the ruling.

“Although the court found that ‘the defendants failed to meet their burden of proving that the District Attorney acquired an actual conflict of interest,’ I am offering my resignation in the interest of democracy, in dedication to the American public, and move this case forward as quickly as possible,” Nathan Wade wrote in a letter obtained by WSB-TV.

Fani Willis accepted Nathan Wade’s resignation letter and praised him for his bravery.

“I will always remember — and will remind everyone — they you were brave enough to step forward and take on the investigation and prosecution of the allegations that the defendants in this case engages in a conspiracy to overturn Georgia’s 2020 presidential election.”

“You are an outstanding advocate,” Willis wrote, according to the letter obtained by WSB-TV.

Now Willis does not want Wade to talk to House investigators. What are they hiding?

Authorities have arrested a confirmed Tren de Aragua gang member, after he allegedly recruited students from two Houston middle schools to join the Venezuelan gang.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Jorgenys Robertson Cova—an illegal alien from Venezuela—entered the United States two years ago.

Cova is suspected to have recruited students from Jane Long Academy and Las Americas—both of which are located in the Houston Independent School District. He was arrested last week after being wanted in Pearland for theft and was accused of recruiting the students.

The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed Cova was part of the Venezuelan gang after observing known tattoos related to the gang on his arms that included a five-point crown and a clock and roses. Other known tattoos include stars, Ak-47s, and trains.

Cova was scheduled for an asylum hearing in Houston on the same day he was taken into custody and booked into the Brazoria County Jail.

A Houston ISD spokesperson told Texas Scorecard that they have not been made aware of any activities related to the gang member, but will work with law enforcement to provide any information they need.

  5. Biden Executive Order Targets 3D Printing Software with First Amendment Implications
Ammoland Inc. Posted on October 15, 2024 by NRAHQ

    Opinion
    Kamala-Biden-NRA-ILA
    IMG NRA-ILA

As NRA-ILA noted last week, President Joe Biden has signed an executive order creating a “task force” bent on “combatting emerging firearm threats,” that purports to target “machinegun conversion devices and unserialized, 3D-printed firearms.”

A White House press release accompanying the order, made clear that the government will be tasked with creating a taxpayer-funded report that is to be used to push lawmakers to increase the power and resources of the federal bureaucracy, noting, “The report will include any additional authorities or funding the federal agencies need from Congress in order to complete this work.”

Given the Biden-Harris administration’s anti-gun record, Americans have every reason to believe that the order will be used to attack Second Amendment rights. However, certain aspects of the order suggest the administration is also seeking to undermine the First Amendment right to freedom of speech.
Since before the Founding, Americans have enjoyed the right to make their own firearms without government interference. Barring state law to the contrary, this practice remains lawful today.

The method of manufacture, whether it be a home workshop with a drill press or a home office with a 3D printer, does not change the underlying federal law. Of course, any method of manufacture, including 3D printing, that can be used to create lawful homemade firearms can also be misused to create unlawful firearms – such as firearms that would violate the Undetectable Firearms Act.
    SCROLL DOWN TO CONTINUE READING

Biden’s executive order targets modern manufacturing processes in ways that implicate the First Amendment.

The order stated that the “task force” report shall include:

    (iii) an assessment of existing authorities, including export and import laws, that regulate software or technology used for 3D printing firearms, including undetectable firearms;

    (iv) an assessment of the technological feasibility of 3D printers proactively blocking the functional capacities of software used to 3D print undetectable firearms;

    (vi) an interagency plan for effective coordination between the Department of Justice and the Department of Commerce to limit the illegal export or import of software or technology on the internet that can be readily used to illegally 3D print firearms, including unserialized or undetectable firearms;

Note the order emphasized assessing plans to restrict software and its capabilities to target 3D printed firearms. This implicates the First Amendment.

Under the law, software or computer code is generally treated as speech.

In 1999, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit addressed this matter in the case Bernstein v. U.S. Department of Justice. The case concerned encryption software, which the government said could not be posted on the internet because such software was categorized as a munition subject to severe export control regulations.

The court held that the encryption software at issue was protected speech. Further, the court held that as speech, the software was “entitled to the protections of the prior restraint doctrine.” The prior restraint doctrine makes clear that the government cannot preemptively restrict the publication of speech in almost all circumstances.

To give a classic example of a prior restraint, in 17th century Britain, printing presses were licensed. An item summarizing the British regime explained,

The ordinance prohibited the printing, binding, or sale of books except by persons licensed under authority of Parliament and made the Stationers the agent of Parliament for the purpose of licensing printers. Anonymous publications were banned, as were the reprinting or importation of previously printed works. The ordinance authorized the Stationers to conduct searches and seizures of unlicensed publications, destroy unlicensed printing machinery, and to arrest those suspected of printing without a license.

The First Amendment rejects this type of regime and imposes the utmost skepticism on any other type of prior restraint on speech. As the U.S. Supreme Court explained in Bantam Books, Inc. v. Sullivan (1963), “Any system of prior restraints of expression comes to this Court bearing a heavy presumption against its constitutional validity.”

At present, Biden’s executive order only requires his government “task force” to assess options to curtail software capable of assisting in the creation of 3D printed firearms. As the “task force” includes the Attorney General, one could naively hope that the group would be apprised of First Amendment jurisprudence. However, given this administration’s relentless attacks on the Second Amendment, and its willingness to undermine the First Amendment in pursuit of its goals, gun owners and other Bill of Rights supporters should view Biden’s executive order with the utmost suspicion.

  6. Hunting Regulations Are Not a Guide To Addressing Mass Shootings
    By Tom Knighton | 12:29 PM | October 15, 2024
    AP Photo/Lisa Marie Pane

I get that people want to address mass murders involving firearms, what most folks would call a “mass shooting.” I want to address them, too, so I totally get it.

I just don’t think gun control will actually address them.

But not everyone agrees. I get that.

However, in the search for something, some folks lock onto some really ridiculous ideas. Unsurprisingly, one of those ridiculous ideas comes to us via Slate–where a lot of idiotic arguments can be found–and it involves hunting and mass murders.

    Yeah, seriously.

But hey, maybe it’s got a viable take on the issue.

    Just don’t hold your breath.

But these debates miss a lot. Owning a gun for the purposes of hunting is a fundamentally different thing than owning one for the purpose of killing another person. When I talked to media outlets a few years ago, in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine (where I work), puzzling over why the state has a high rate of gun ownership but (generally speaking) low rates of gun crime, I was overlooking the reality that a large portion of those guns are likely meant for killing wildlife. What’s the difference? I would argue quite a lot.

First, virtually all hunters must take a safety or education course. I distinctly remember mine, sitting next to my father, leafing through the fluorescent orange hunter safety book and listening to the presenter. I was impressed by the danger of guns and the importance of ensuring they are kept locked up when not in use.

Second, there are laws that apply to hunting that do not apply to other types of gun carrying. For example, in Maine, when driving the logging roads looking for game, I cannot have a weapon loaded in my vehicle. If we spot a partridge, we must stop the vehicle, step outside of it, load, and then fire. The purpose of this regulation is, of course, to promote safety, a concept that is of utmost concern for hunters. But if you are carrying a gun for nonhunting purposes? Then it’s fine to have it loaded in your car. It’s literally written into the legislation on guns and vehicles in Maine. So if you want to shoot a deer, you have to be safe about it. If you want to shoot a person, throw caution to the wind.

Third, there is a symbolic difference between owning weapons for hunting and owning weapons for sport or defense. The former is not infused with the implication of violence against humans. The latter carries with it that possibility. There are attitudinal and practical reasons why this matters. When I buy a gun for hunting, the potential that a human being may be harmed by that weapon is a horrifying thought. When not hunting, the gun hangs in a carrying case, with a lock. Contrast that with a handgun bought for the purposes of self-defense. By definition, that gun is purchased with the thought that another human may be its target. And for a gun possessed for self-defense purposes, having the weapon locked and out of reach may defeat those purposes.

What this has to do with mass public shootings is beyond me.

This information is presented as if it’s relevant, but let’s understand something about mass killers. They aren’t accidentally killing dozens of people because they’re unaware that their gun is dangerous. If homicide laws won’t stop them, laws preventing you from driving down the road with a loaded gun won’t, either. And that third paragraph is pure stupidity.

First, whether there’s a “symbolic difference” between guns bought for hunting and those bought for self-defense is irrelevant. Symbolism may play a role in a mass murder, but that’s going to impact the target more often than not.

The author does go on to acknowledge that the data providing any links between hunting and violent crime is largely non-existent and much of the arguments presented trying to connect the two are full of nonsense.

But here he is trying also to make some kind of connection. Especially in his conclusion:

In the end, much more research is needed on the link between hunting and crime. But one thing is clear: The current state of the debate on guns and crime is in need of more context regarding the types of guns in circulation and the reasons why people own them. My friend Jack is right that a gun lying on a coffee table won’t commit a crime. The real question is whether a gun used for hunting is less likely to be used for a crime than other types of weapons. There is sufficient reason to believe it would be.

    Is there?

Oh, right now, what most would term as hunting weapons aren’t often used in crime. For the most part, anyway.

But let’s say you took handguns off the table entirely. Let’s say they just vanished tomorrow. Everyone’s gun just up and disappears regardless of who you are or how you obtained it.

Would violent criminals stop being violent criminals? Not only would they not stop being violent, but they’d also still obtain guns. They’d start using things like shotguns, for example. Take a pump-action or double-barrelled shotgun, saw the barrel down, lop off the stock, and you’ve got something you could hide in a lot of ways.

Yet both of those are hunting guns.

See, when you spend your time trying to focus on the tool and not the tool using it, you tend to forget that for someone who is properly motivated, any gun can be pressed into service. Let’s not forget that the University of Texas tower shooting is still the fourth most bloody school shooting in American history. Most of the firearms used in that shooting would be considered hunting weapons. It didn’t stop the attack from happening.

That’s the problem with focusing on guns.

Unfortunately, too many people seem unable to wrap their heads around the kind of evil that would take another person’s life. That’s probably a good thing, for the most part, but one downside of that is that they honestly believe if you just leave certain guns available and ban others, the problem will go away.

No, the problem will shift, but now you’ve already set the stage for banning things.

  7. Five Questions Fox News Should Ask Harris About Guns

Kamala Harris has agreed to do a sit-down interview with Bret Baier of Fox News on Wednesday afternoon, which gives Baier the opportunity to ask Harris several important questions about her claims of gun ownership and her extensive history of supporting extreme gun control measures like a ban and confiscation of handguns.

I’m sure that Baier will ask Harris about a number of issues, but this is probably the best chance to pin her down on the anti-gun extremism she’s embraced over the years. Baier could easily spend the entire interview delving into her anti-2A record, but I doubt that will happen. There are, however, some critical questions that Harris and her campaign team have repeatedly refused to answer that the Fox anchor needs to ask on the record.

Do you believe the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a handgun, and if so, when did you change your mind?
You’ve said you own a Glock, which are considered “unsafe” handguns under California law. Why did you buy that particular pistol?
In 2007 you told gun owners in San Francisco, “Just because you legally possess a gun in the sanctity of your locked home doesn’t mean that we’re not going to walk into that home and check to see if you’re being responsible.” How would that not violate the Fourth Amendment?
In 2019, you called for a mandatory “buyback” of so-called assault weapons, but your campaign now says you no longer support that policy even though you still say that these guns “don’t belong on the streets of a civil society”. How do you define “assault weapon”, and what do you propose to do with the 20+ million semi-automatic long guns currently possessed by lawful owners, and would you sign an “assault weapons” ban that included confiscation or mandated gun owners hand over their modern sporting rifles to the government?
In 2022, you said the Supreme Court’s decision recognizing a right to carry a firearm “defies common sense and the Constitution”. Why do you believe the right to keep and bear arms doesn’t encompass a right to bear arms in public for self-defense?

As much as I’d like to see Harris asked how often she goes to the range or whether she used her position as a prosecutor to purchase an “off-roster” handgun, those questions aren’t nearly as important as grilling Harris on her anti-2A stances over the years. Harris and her campaign won’t say if she still holds to the idea that the Second Amendment doesn’t protect an individual right to keep and bear arms, but it’s far easier to say “no comment” or speak on background to a print reporter than it is to duck the question during a televised interview.

With Harris actively courting gun owners while running away from her long record of anti-2A activism, it’s incumbent on Baier to delve into her past statements and policy positions that are squarely at odds with treating keeping and bearing arms as a fundamental right. We don’t need any more softball questions like “have you ever shot a gun?” We need a real inquiry into Harris’s hostility towards the Second Amendment, and Baier’s sit-down is the perfect opportunity to put her on the record about her past and present support for banning some of the most popular firearms in the country.
