Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

  1. Minnesota Grandma Jailed Over COVID Lockdown Warns Walz ‘Will Take Your Rights Away’

    A Minnesota grandma and former business owner who was jailed for defying lockdown orders during the coronavirus pandemic warned that Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) “will take” Americans “rights away.”

    In an interview with Fox News, Lisa Hanson, who owned the Interchange Wine & Coffee Bistro in Albert Lea, explained how after watching Walz allow businesses such as “big-box stores” to reopen while keeping “mom-and-pop” businesses shuttered, she decided to defy the lockdown orders and ended up serving a 60-day jail sentence and receiving a $1,000 fine.

    Hanson dispelled the notion that Walz was “some cuddly, joyful coach” as the mainstream media and Haris campaign are attempting to depict him as being. Vice President Kamala Harris recently announced that she had picked Walz to be her running mate in the 2024 presidential election.

    “This is the story that America needs to hear, that Tim Walz is not some cuddly, joyful coach, like all the things that the MSMs are calling him,” Hanson told the outlet. “That is not who this man is. This man would like to take your rights away. He will take your rights away. Because what happened to me could have happened to anybody. What happened to me will happen to you.”

    After being “convicted in December 2021 on misdemeanor charges” Hanson ended up serving 60 days out of her original 90-day sentence, she told the outlet. Hanson added that she ended up closing her business after she had faced “tens of thousands” of dollars in “legal fees and fines.”

    Hanson’s interview comes after a former Minnesota bar owner who ended up facing more than $300,000 in fines for defying Walz’s shutdown orders during the coronavirus pandemic has described the governor as an”evil man” who “took small businesses and ripped them up.”

    During the coronavirus pandemic, Walz ran a hotline where citizens could report on their fellow citizens who may have defied his lockdown orders.

  2. Birju Dattani, tapped as Canada’s human rights chief in June, resigned before officially taking office on Monday due to controversy over his anti-Israel statements and activities.

    Dattani would have been the first Muslim to hold the position.

    Dattani’s appointment to lead the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) was immediately challenged by the Center for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), which conducted the vetting of Dattani that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s administration bizarrely refused to do. It did not take CIJA long to find antisemitic social media posts that Dattani created under an alias, “Mujahid Dattani.”

  3. The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) condemned the Houthi terrorist organization of Yemen on Tuesday for raiding its office in the national capital, Sana’a, stealing critical documents, and taking employees hostage.

    High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk demanded the freedom of his employees and uninterrupted access to Yemeni civilians in a statement on Tuesday revealing a previously unreported Houthi raid on U.N. officials on August 3. The Houthis, whose Iran-backed terrorist organization is formally known as “Ansarallah,” have for years brutalized human rights workers within their reach. More recently, in June, the Houthis launched an abduction spree in which they raided the homes of U.N. and non-governmental organization workers and took them hostage, severely disrupting humanitarian efforts.

  4. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) reportedly told exchange students going over the China to downplay their “Americanness,” New York Times bestselling author and Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer said during an appearance on Breitbart News Daily.

    Schweizer spoke to host Mike Slater about Walz’s affection toward China, mentioning the exchange program he set up, funded by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

    “You can like China. You can like the Chinese people. The question is, when you set up an exchange program, as he did, to bring students to China, you’re not dealing with the Chinese people, you’re dealing with the Chinese Communist Party,” Schweizer began, explaining that Walz’s program was funded by the CCP and organized with the help of the CCP.

    “And when you start to look at some of the, you know, activities involving the students, it gets slightly odd. I mean, you know, some of the local press accounts from the Midwest report that students were told by Walz, ‘When you go to China, downplay your Americanness,’ which is, is kind of odd, because if you’re having a cultural exchange, the purpose is to actually learn about the other culture,” Schweizer noted.

    Note: seems petty on the surface of it, but it demonstrates a continuous thread from the Biden family to Walz of very significant Chinese influence.

    After all, Walz was in China during the Tienamin Square massacre and liked it so much, he got married on the 5th anniversary of it to commemorate it. No, not for the defiant protests – but to celebrate the CCP crushing of it: to leave no question, he went on to spend his honeymoon in China, heavily subsidized by the CCP, just like so much else he does…

    This is a tyrant in the making, and he’s not even trying the tiniest bit to hide it.

  6. Germany has issued its first arrest warrant over the 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines from Russia to northern Europe, saying it is seeking a Ukrainian citizen, named only as Volodymyr Z.

    A European Arrest Warrant issued in June over the sabotage of a major pipeline feeding Europe Russian gas has come to light for the first time. Per an investigation published by a group of German newspapers and broadcasters on Wednesday, the Federal Prosecutor General put out a warrant for the arrest of Ukrainian citizen named, in line with German privacy law protecting unconvicted suspects, as Ukrainian diving instructor “Volodymyr Z.”, reports Die Zeit.

    Two other suspects are reportedly also being considered, but have not been issued with arrest warrants yet. A man and a woman, they are also said to be Ukrainian citizen professional diving instructors.

  7. Hamas launched rockets at Israel on Tuesday from a protected humanitarian area in the Gaza Strip, Israel said on Wednesday, further proof of the degree to which Hamas is violating international law and endangering civilians.

    Two rockets were launched from Gaza towards Tel Aviv on Tuesday, the first time Israel’s major coastal city had been targeted since May.

    Tuesday was a significant day because it marked Tisha B’Av, an annual Jewish commemoration of the destruction of the Holy Temples in Jerusalem.

    One rocket fell in Gaza, and the other landed in the ocean without threatening Israelis.

  8. Tesla CEO Elon Musk pitched a “government efficiency commission” to cut government waste while speaking with former President Donald Trump on Monday, and offered to “help out” with such an endeavor.

    ATF Loses ANOTHER Bump Stock Case!

    Over five years ago, Clark Aposhian finally won his lawsuit in the United States District Court in the Federal District of Utah against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) over the rule banning bump stocks.

    “Because the Final Rule was an invalid exercise of ATF’s regulatory authority, Plaintiff’s Motion for Summary Judgment, ECF No. 61, is GRANTED,” wrote District Court Judge Jill N. Parish. “Federal Defendants’ Cross-Motion, ECF No. 64, is DENIED. The Court shall enter judgment concurrently with the issuance of this memorandum decision and order.”

    After a 2017 mass shooting at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, with what the FBI claims was a bump stock, then President Donald Trump and current Presidential candidate ordered the ATF to reexamine the device and find a way to get rid of them. The ATF would make a new rule reclassifying the device as a machine gun even though it did not function as an automatic firearm by the definition found in the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA).

    According to the law, a machine gun expels a round with a single function of the trigger. A bump stock requires a trigger pull between each shot. The ATF would use Chevron deference to make a new rule. Chevron deference said that if a statute is unclear, the enforcing agency gets the final say, not the courts. The Loper Bright Enterprises Supreme Court case killed Chevron, so agencies can no longer rely on the legal precedent to make rules.
    Mr. Aposhian would sue the government in Aposhian v. Barr (now Aposhian v. Garland). His lawyers objected to using Chevron deference for the rule. They also claimed that the ATF violated the Administrative Procedures Act (APA) because the definition of a machine gun was clear in the NFA, and a bump stock did not meet that definition. Aposhian claimed the ATF overstepped its authority and was trying to use a rule to bypass the legislative branch by creating a de facto law.

    Aposhian would file for a motion for summary judgment in the District Court. The ATF filed for a cross-motion for summary judgment. The judge initially denied Aposhian’s motion and granted the ATF’s motion. This decision was made a year ago. After the order was issued, the Supreme Court heard two cases. The first case was Cargill v. Garland. The case also challenged the bump stock ban on similar grounds to those in Aposhian. The Supreme Court would find that the ATF exceeded its statutory authority when it issued the bump stock rule.

    The second case was Loper Bright Enters. v. Raimondo. The case challenged the legality of Chevron deference. Even though this case was not a gun case, it drew attention from those in the gun community. Most ATF rules rely on Chevron deference. Without that, gun rights groups feel a lot of rules set by the ATF can be challenged in Court. These potential challenges extend beyond bump stocks. The ATF used similar logic to ban braced pistols and unfinished firearm frames. Both items have judgments knocking down the rules out of the Fifth Circuit of Appeals. SCOTUS has stayed the Fifth Circuit ruling on unfinished firearm frames until the High Court can hear the case and issue an opinion.
    Judge Parish would rely on these two cases to reverse her original ruling in Aposhian. She stripped the ATF of their legal victory and handed the win to Aposhian. The judge’s hands were tied because of how similar the claims made in Aposhian were to those made in Cargill. Cargill already invalidated the rule, so no matter what the judge decided, it wouldn’t validate the ATF’s rule because the District Court is inferior to the Supreme Court.

    “Subsequently, the United States Supreme Court decided Garland v. Cargill, 602 U.S. 406 (2024),” the judge wrote. “There, the Court determined that the ATF ‘exceeded its statutory authority by issuing’ the Final Rule. Id. at 415. In another opinion issued not long after, the Court overruled Chevron and declared that “courts need not and under the APA may not defer to an agency.”

    Considering Cargill, the ATF is not expected to appeal to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

  18. 85-Year-Old Man Fights Then Shoots Intruder

    East Park Avenue in Riverton, Wyoming, where an 85-year-old man defended himself against a home intruder.

    Things got a little western in Riverton, Wyoming, over the weekend when an “irrational” and much younger unexpected visitor began beating and kicking on 85-year-old Wayne Williams’s front door. Around 11 p.m. Friday night, Williams heard violent pounding and shouting at his front door so grabbed a .380 he keeps for home defense from his bedroom and went to see what the ruckus was about, he told the Cowboy State Sentinel.

    Once at the door, he opened it, a move he later admitted to the paper probably wasn’t the smartest thing he could have done, because as soon as he did, the intruder, who Williams described as about 25 years old, six inches taller than him and appearing drunk or under the influence of drugs tried to shove his way into the home. Williams attempted to fight him off, first aiming and squeezing the trigger of his handgun only to hear a dull click. He realized then that “he’d forgotten to rack a round into the chamber,” a key reason most firearms instructors urge defensive-minded gun owners who carry or keep their guns safely stored in the home to always leave their primary self-defense gun loaded and ready to fire.

    “You must realize that the most dangerous criminal attacks occur at very close range and happen very quickly. So quickly, in fact, that you simply might not have time to chamber than round and defend yourself,” writes Jim Wilson for NRA Family.

    The intruder challenged the senior citizen to shoot him as the two began wrestling. Despite being older than nearly 98 percent of the world population, Williams fought his much younger attacker back out of the door owing to the man’s lack of coordination, the homeowner told the paper. The two tumbled into the yard and as Williams struggled to get to his feet, he managed to cycle a round into the .380’s chamber and fire shot.

    Williams said he heard the intruder quip, “I’ve been hit,” before Williams dashed back into his house to call 911.
    Dealing with the Law

    Williams called 911 and the police soon showed up. As many people who defend themselves are surprised to learn, the police don’t always take what an armed citizen has to say at face value.

    “It seemed to Williams they were more concerned initially with him and with his gun than ‘the guy who was attacking me,’” the Cowboy State Sentinel reported Williams as saying. “But he put the gun down and cooperated.”

    An ambulance hauled the wounded intruder to the hospital and took Williams to the police station for further questioning while they also apparently went through his home in his absence. He noted the holster he had pulled his .380 from and flung on his bed was gone when he got home.

    The newspaper said the Riverton Police Department refused to respond to that claim “citing the active investigation.” They also declined to comment further other than to say, “the incident appeared to be a shooting in response to an attempted burglary.”
