Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  4. U.S. District Judge Gerald L. Russell on August 2, 2024, found numerous Maryland gun bans aimed at concealed carriers to be unconstitutional.

    The case, Novotny v. Moore, was brought by the Firearms Policy Coalition, the Second Amendment Foundation, Maryland Shall Issue, Inc., and several private citizens.

    After weighing the evidence, Russell sided with plaintiffs and granted Summary Judgment against Maryland’s ban on concealed carry on private property without property owner’s consent, as well as the bans on “carrying near public demonstrations or in locations selling alcohol for onsite-consumption.”

  5. BERLIN (AP) – Twenty-two people were injured by an explosion in the paddock area of Germany’s famous Nuerbergring racetrack, police said Saturday.

    Police said the accident, which they believe was caused by the explosion of a compressed air canister on Friday night, injured one person severely, three seriously and the others slightly, German news agency dpa reported. Police were still on the scene to investigate the cause on Saturday.

  13. The heat is on: Options for deterrence in the Middle East

    To re-seize the initiative and get deterrence going.

    As usual, late-breaking news demands to be included in this article. I’m not going to rewrite the piece to reflect any potential change in likelihood, this weekend, that a response to a major, concerted attack on Israel – and very possibly U.S. interests as well – may shortly be in order. But the tea leaves seem to read that way.

    Read this X post carefully. The original post by Iran’s Khamenei was made on 3 October 2023, four days before 10/7. But it was just pinned on Khamenei’s X account on 2 August 2024; today.

    I stand by my assessment of what the current administration – “Petunia” – will do. Don’t be fooled by whatever it does. It won’t be effective or even strategically intelligent. At most, it will be intended, like recent moves to staunch the illegal flow across the U.S. border, and rumors today of an impending rate cut by the Fed, to make voters feel like things are trending a little better in time for the election in November.

    Although there is no reason to expect the current U.S. administration, which for rhetorical convenience I will call “Petunia,” to take any effective action in the Middle East crises of 2024, there are actions the U.S. could take that would do some good.

    Today I am unable to sign on as a dues paying member of your substack. We’re still working on a go around but we’re not that savvy.
    I was just informed it is your sub stack account that has been blocked from collecting money from me at least; which otoh it means I’ve made progress since 2016. I’ll finally be getting updates.
    Hope you get that blockage corrected.

  15. Vice President of World Boxing Organization Claims Imane Khelif is ‘Biological Male’

    Istvan Kovacs, the European vice president of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), has publicly asserted that Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is biologically male.

    This claim, which raises serious questions about fairness in women’s sports, was made during an interview with the Hungarian news outlet Magyar Nemzet.

    Kovacs disclosed that he alerted the International Olympic Committee (IOC) about concerns regarding male participation in women’s boxing as early as 2022. Despite these warnings, he claims that no action was taken.

    “The saddest thing in the story is that the problem was not with the level of Helif’s testosterone, because it can be adjusted nowadays, but with the result of the gender test, which clearly revealed that the Algerian boxer is biologically male,” he said.

    Kovacs further elaborated that five boxers, including Khelif, underwent testing by the International Boxing Association (IBA), and all were found to be male. Despite reporting these findings to the IOC, he lamented that there has been no response or action taken.

    “In addition, at the Tokyo Olympics and the following World Championship, a total of five boxers were examined together with the Algerians, and all of them came out with the same result, they were indeed men. Of course, I immediately reported all this in writing to the IOC officials, but as incredible as it is, they have not responded to this to this day – claimed the amateur Olympic, world and European champion, and the former boxer who won everything among the professionals,” Kovacs said.

    His concerns are particularly focused on Hungarian boxer Anna Luca Hamori, who is set to face Khelif in an upcoming match. Kovacs expressed his deep apprehension: “Hamori was simply not trained for this,” underscoring the physical risks she faces in the ring against a competitor whose biological advantages cannot be overlooked, according to Inside the Games.

    But on Saturday, Hamori unfortunately lost to Khelif.

    Kovacs also referenced discussions with former women’s world champion Mária Kovács, who lamented the alarming statistic that there is now a 20 percent chance of sustaining serious injuries—such as testicular injuries—in women’s boxing matches due to this unprecedented situation.

    Kovacs concluded saying, “By the way, a lot of people know wrongly, it is now not possible to revise the decision regarding the start, because if they were to exclude [Khelif], then the Italians would rightly say that Carini should enter the ring against Luca, and I will go further, the boxers beaten by Khelif in the African qualification tournament could also rightly say, they would have their place in Paris, not the Algerian.”

    The Paris Olympics erupted in controversy again on Thursday after a “biological man” easily “prevailed” in an Olympic boxing match after smacking around a much smaller and weaker woman for just under a minute. This follows the Olympic organizers cruelly insulting Christians during the opening ceremonies with a Last Supper reenactment involving drag queens.

    The boxing bout between Italian Angela Carini and her Algerian opponent Imane Khelif lasted just 46 seconds, with Carini dropping her helmet onto the floor while quitting and shouting, “This is unjust!”

    The 25-year-old Carini then rightfully refused to shake hands with Khelif and fell to the floor bawling after just two vicious punches to the head from her Algerian tormentor, who had been banned from a significant boxing competition a year before the Olympics.

    Carini told reporters following the bout she had never been slugged so hard in her life and was in too much pain to continue.

    “I’m used to suffering. I’ve never taken a punch like that, it’s impossible to continue, Carini explained. “I’m nobody to say it’s illegal.”

    “I got into the ring to fight, but I didn’t feel like it anymore after the first minute,” she added. “I started to feel a strong pain in my nose. I didn’t give up, but a punch hurt too much and so I said enough. I’m leaving with my head held high.”

    Then, on Friday, the second boxer with male DNA brutally beats a contender at the Paris Olympics and wins the bout.

    Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-Ting, previously disqualified from the 2023 Women’s Boxing World Championships for failing to meet gender eligibility criteria, secured a decisive victory against Uzbekistan’s Sitora Turdibekova.

    The IBA has made it clear that these athletes possess competitive advantages over their female counterparts, a claim supported by rigorous testing protocols.

    “This disqualification was a result of their failure to meet the eligibility criteria for participating in the women’s competition, as set and laid out in the IBA Regulations. This decision, made after a meticulous review, was extremely important and necessary to uphold the level of fairness and utmost integrity of the competition,” the IBA said in its press release.

    The IBA added, “Our Committees have rigorously reviewed and endorsed the decision made during the World Championships. While IBA remains committed to ensuring competitive fairness in all of our events, we express concern over the inconsistent application of eligibility criteria by other sporting organizations, including those overseeing the Olympic Games. The IOC’s differing regulations on these matters, in which IBA is not involved, raise serious questions about both competitive fairness and athletes’ safety.”

    The IOC issued a statement defending its position. “Every person has the right to practice sport without discrimination,” they declared.

    The IOC insisted that all athletes participating in the boxing tournament comply with eligibility regulations based on their passports and that these rules had been consistently applied during qualification events across various international competitions.

    President Donald Trump recently took the stage at the National Association of Black Journalists conference, where he didn’t hold back on addressing questions surrounding Harris’s shifting racial identity.

    During a heated exchange with ABC’s nasty and rude reporter Rachel Scott, Trump responded, stating, “I didn’t know she was black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn black, and now she wants to be known as black.”

    As the leftist media continues to promote her as a Black American figure, a recent visit to a barbershop in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, revealed that many local Black men are not convinced.

    When asked about their views on Harris, the overwhelming response was clear: ‘Kamala ain’t black.’

    In a segment aired on CNN, a CNN reporter noted that callers on an XM radio program quickly dismissed the opinions of the barbershop patrons.

    “When I played that audio on XM radio program on Thursday, many callers who self-identified as African-American were quick to tell me that those men were the exception, not the rule. Some described them as low information voters, no different than you’d find among Whites.”

    Nearly three weeks ago President Trump was shot in the ear and nearly assassinated at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

    Since that time the Secret Service and FBI have refused to be straight with the American people on what was really going on that day.

    We still don’t know why the Secret Service and FBI allowed a young would-be assassin to fire off eight shots at President Trump before he was taken out. What is especially troubling is that the security at the rally identified Crooks 90 minutes before the shooting started and acting strange and Crooks was also spotted running along the roof of the building minutes before he started firing at the president and his supporters killing one and injuring three.

    Acting Director Rowe said all assets were approved for the Trump rally. But a whistleblower has stepped forward and revealed that it was Rowe himself who cut assets from President Trump’s detail.

    During testimony this week Rowe told US Senator Ron Johnson that the Secret Service radio recordings were deleted after the rally.

    Rowe insisted the Secret Service never keeps their recordings from Trump rallies. They only keep recordings from presidential events.

    How convenient.

    SS Director Ronald Rowe: On our radio nets, we do, sir. Are those memorialized?

    Sen. Ron Johnson: Are those saved?

    SS Director Ronald Rowe: The radio traffic from Butler, we did not have recordings.

    Sen. Ron Johnson: Do you normally?

    SS Director Ronald Rowe: Not on the road outside of DC or outside of a presidential or vice presidential stop.

    Sen. Ron Johnson: So communications between Secret Service agents will not be available like we’ve gotten the communications from local law enforcement.

    SS Director Ronald Rowe: I’m sorry, Senator.

    Sen. Ron Johnson: So we’re not going to be able to get those communications. You didn’t save is very unfortunate.

    SS Director Ronald Rowe: It is, sir. Moving forward, I’ve directed that we will now start recording those so that we will have them moving forward.

    And the regime wonders why no one trusts them.
