Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  2. Top officials within the Secret Service reportedly denied requests to increase the security for former President Donald Trump over the past two years, according to several sources.

    Four people, who spoke to the Washington Post “on the condition of anonymity,” explained that agents on Trump’s security detail had reportedly asked to be given additional agents and “snipers and specialty teams” for outdoor events or large public gatherings that the former president would attend, as well as equipment such as magnetometers.

    A magnetometer is described as being a “device used to detect magnetic fields” that is used to screen people entering “public events, airports, and government buildings,” according to NorthJersey.com.

    The sources told the outlet that “senior officials” within the Secret Service reportedly cited having a “lack of resources” due to denials of the requests.

    Chief of Communications for the Secret Service Anthony Guglielmi issued a statement on July 14 in which he stated that “the assertation” that Trump’s security team had asked to be given “additional security resources that the U.S. Secret Service or the Department of Homeland Security rebuffed is absolutely false.”

      • That is the obvious conclusion, the more data that comes out the more I support that Idea. With it coming from that high up it would only take a small number of people to pull off the attempt and it is unlikely anyone will want to bring them to trial and admit the US has sunk that low.

        Rep. Luna asked the question we’ve all been wondering about for the last week, “Who Was This Kid Working With?” and “When will Secretary Kimberly Cheatle step down from the Secret Service?”

        Rep. Anna Paulina Luna: We have questions about who exactly this kid was working with. We do know that he was a gamer. He was operating on a website called Discord, which is a chat room, and that it’s very likely with the equipment that he came up with, the explosives and the detonator, that he was obviously working with someone. I think from a forensics and digital perspective, that’s going to be incredibly important because as you know, Keith, we have an incredible issue right now with Secret Service. More importantly, I want to know why she’s not resigning. I think tomorrow you’ll see probably it’s likely that she’ll step down.

        Pete Hegseth: Congresswoman, is there going to be a classified and declassified version of this as the investigation is ongoing? Or how much will she be able to say publicly?

        Rep. Anna Paulina Luna: The one frustrating thing that we’ve continued to hear from Secret Service and really from bureaucrats is that this is an ongoing investigation, which is why I’ve really pushed, along with a number of my colleagues, to do a separate committee to investigate this. I do believe that the American people deserve answers right away. I don’t think that there should be a classified version of this. I mean, everyone needs to know what happened here. I This is incredibly dangerous.

        Rachel Campos-Duffy: It’s super revealing that Alejandro Mayorkas is stonewalling on subpoenas when he knows that the entire nation wants answers to this. I mean, it’s just that guy. It’s unbelievable. I want to know more about this kid as well. I mean, will that be part of the investigation? We know he had overseas encrypted accounts. What 20-year-old has that? Also, are you going to get into… Apparently, he googled depression. Was he on psychotropic drugs? I mean, all of these things are important for us to know as a nation.

        Rep. Anna Paulina Luna: …I also want to remind the American people that Biden ultimately made the decision to not give RFK secret service after he had already been threatened. I think that leadership, in addition to it being the Secret Service Director and Secretary’s responsibility, it’s also Biden’s responsibility to ensure that people that are running for office have fair protections, and I don’t think that he did that.

        Rachel Campos-Duffy: Do you trust the FBI to handle this investigation?

        Rep. Anna Paulina Luna: No, not at all. I’ve made that publicly known on a number of occasions. I think the FBI has, again, like JD Vance said, great people on the ground, but I don’t trust their leadership. I think it’s become very evident over the last couple of years that there is a weaponized double standard within the justice system, but also to look, regardless of whatever your political leanings are, what happened with President Trump should have never gone down. The fact is that if that would have been President Biden, if that would have been Kamala Harris, if that would have been members of Congress, we would have never been allowed on stage. Why did that happen? I think the American people deserve answers to this. I think that the FBI really needs to take a look at what its true mission is.

  3. THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) — A Greek border guard was shot in the abdomen Saturday while patrolling an area of the Greek-Turkish border where undocumented migrants seek to enter the European Union, Greek police said. The injuries are not life-threatening.

    Four Greek border guard officers were on duty along the Evros River, the land border with Turkey, shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday, when three or four shots rang out from the Turkish side, police said.

  5. West Yorkshire Police have charged Iustin Dobre following a double-decker bus being set on fire in Leeds amid violent riots this week.

    Iustin Dobre, 37, a resident of Clifton Mount, Harehills, Leeds, has been charged with “violent disorder and arson reckless as to endanger life” in connection to a double-decker bus being set on fire on Thursday.

    Dobre has been remanded to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

    The West Yorkshire Police said that they arrested a further five people on suspicion of violent disorder in connection to the riots that broke out in Harehills on Thursday. They remain in police custody.

    Four others, who were initially arrested for violent disorder during the riots, have been released on bail.

  6. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Sunday that it had discovered poliovirus contaminating water in Gaza, and had therefore brought in vaccines, both for soldiers and the general population. Vaccination for soldiers would be voluntary, it said.

    In a statement, the IDF said:

    Following reports of the presence of the Poliovirus in the Gaza Strip — a virus which is contagious through drinking or oral contact with contaminated water — the IDF conducted sampling tests in various areas where remnants of the Poliovirus were discovered. Based on the findings, it was decided by the IDF, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, that troops operating in the area should undergo vaccination against the virus to maintain the health of both the soldiers and Israeli citizens.

    The Technological and Logistics Directorate (J4) began a broad vaccination operation for all ground troops, both regular and reserves. The vaccinations will be carried out gradually as the troops are refreshed. These vaccinations are given as part of the IDF’s responsibility towards the public and its soldiers.

    In addition, the troops were instructed to carry out actions to maintain personal hygiene. It is important to emphasize that a soldier who does not want to be vaccinated will not be obliged to do so.

    Alongside the vaccination operation for soldiers, the IDF is working with various organizations to bring vaccines intended for the population of the Gaza Strip into the Gaza Strip. Since the beginning of the war, with the cooperation of international organizations, approximately 300,000 polio vaccines have been introduced into the Gaza Strip, which are enough for over a million citizens of Gaza.

    Currently, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, MG Ghassan Alian is in contact with the international community with the aim of allowing the introduction of additional polio vaccine doses for the residents of the Gaza Strip.

  9. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Saturday that it had struck the “Houthi terrorist regime” in Yemen for the first time, launching a long-distance airstrike on the Al Hudaydah Port, targeting the origin of a drone that hit Israel Friday.

    The attack came in response to a Houthi drone that reached Tel Aviv on Friday, killing one Israeli civilian and wounding eight others after slipping past Israeli air defenses due to what the IDF called “human error.”

    A Tennessee woman says a massive sign supporting President Joe Biden has hurt her business.

    “I had so many people commenting saying, ‘I’ll never step foot in that business,’” said Angie Monahan, who owns and operates Honey Blossom Boutique in Lenoir City, according to a Tuesday report by WVLT-TV in Knoxville.

    “This is how I make my livelihood. This is how my manager makes her livelihood, and I’ve spent seven years building this business. I can’t let one sign tear it apart,” she said.

    Monahan leases space from the building’s owner, who put up the sign and has so far not spoken to the media about it. Monahan, however, has plenty to say.

    “Shopping is supposed to be fun and relaxing. It’s not supposed to be political,” she told WVLT. “I just don’t make a stance one way or the other. If someone wants to ask my personal opinion, I don’t mind telling them, but that’s not good business.”

    Although the area is a largely conservative part Tennessee, Monahan said her feelings are not driven by partisanship.

    “We don’t need politics in business. It brings down the whole vibe of downtown,” she said, according to a New York Post report published Friday. “I would feel the same way if it was a Trump sign.”

    She even put up her own sign in her shop windows, adorned with American flags with arrows pointing upward at the Biden-Harris banner declaring, “This business did not hang this sign.”

    She said she has asked the property owner to remove the sign, but he “adamantly, adamantly refuses to take it down.”

    City officials said their hands are tied, according to WVLT.

    “There’s really not much we can do as far as our election sign regulation ordinance,” City Administrator Amber Kelso told the station.

    “We want to be careful because we don’t want to impede on someone’s constitutional rights for freedom of speech. That would go for whether it’s a Biden sign or a Trump sign or whether it’s some other political sign,” she said.

    According to the Post, Monana said she was puzzled at first.

    “I kept wondering why groups of women were intentionally walking beyond the store, and now I know why,” she said.

    After she began speaking out against the sign, she said, she received so many “nasty” and “threatening” messages from Biden backers that she started carrying her gun.

    “I do feel threatened. I’m protecting myself,” she said. “I’m not parking in front of the store … I make sure I’m not followed home at night.”

    A customer identified as Janette Collier said she went to the store to show support as much as to make a purchase.

    “I feel for her because the sign is imposing on her,” she told the Post. “She’s here to run a store, not a political campaign.”

    During a segment from the RNC, Rep. Michael Waltz (R-FL) destroyed CNN’s lead “fact checker,” Daniel Dale with his own live fact check during an interview with reporter Boris Sanchez.

    During Dale’s fact-checking spin duties for CNN, he claimed Waltz was lying about the Biden administration’s Green New Deal push for electric tanks as part of a military overhaul.

    Rep. Waltz: And just while we’re talking that, I do want to talk (to) Daniel Dale, the CNN lead fact checker.

    Boris Sanchez: I was going to get to that.

    Rep. Waltz: I mean, he directly got on air last night and spoke to my speech, where I talked about Biden’s military and his misguided priorities.

    Boris Sanchez: Let’s get to that. So there was a CNN fact check of your speech. You mentioned at one point, and I want to get this right. You said that Biden was focused on building electric tanks. Apparently, that comes from this army climate strategy that said that they wanted to make tactical vehicles.

    Rep. Waltz: Wrong. Let me fact check your fact checker.

    Boris Sanchez: Sure. Go ahead.

    Rep. Waltz: I have here Bloomberg reporting the US Army putting its electric tanks on hold because they have to further invest in and develop the battery technology.

    I have testimony with the Secretary of the Army (on) this issue.

    I have the budget where they’re investing in research and development on electric fighting vehicles, in addition to the nontactical vehicles mentioned in that climate strategy.

    So I would just suggest that Daniel Dale sit down with the Chairman of the Readiness Committee who reviews and approves these budgets and has the testimony and has the actual facts before he questions someone’s credibility on national television.

    Boris Sanchez: I’m sure that he would be more than happy to sit down.

    Rep. Waltz: Well, he should do that before he publicly puts it…I mean, it’s forever on the internet. He said it on air. When we talk about misleading, he’s misleading the public. If he’s misleading on, I have all the facts, if he’s misleading on that, what else is he misleading on?

    Boris Sanchez: I think you’re getting an opportunity to respond to it now. As you know, congressman, getting to the truth is a process. It’s not as cut and dry as it may seem sometimes.

    Rep. Waltz: But literally minutes after my speech, he’s telling the world I’m misleading.

    There’s no way he could review the army’s budget, the research and development, the testimony that I personally received under oath….or how about just Google and get the facts?

    A hike in the woods to pick berries became a deadly encounter for an elderly man in Montana’s Flathead National Forest.

    The 72-year-old man managed to fight off and kill a grizzly bear that attacked him.

    New York Post reported:

    “The man, who has not been identified, was alone on national forest land when the adult female charged at him on Thursday, leaving him with serious injuries, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials said. During the struggle, he able to fire off a handgun and kill the bear before he was rushed to a local hospital.”

    Officials say that the bear was likely a mother trying to defend her cubs. Wildlife workers are searching for cubs in the area.

    Flathead National Forest is situated about 2 miles north of Columbia Falls.

    “The same day the man was attacked, Fish, Wildlife & Parks shot an adult female grizzly bear that had been breaking into homes and stealing food around the town of Gardner just north of Yellowstone National Park.”

    The bear in Gardner became accustomed to finding food in garbage and barbecue grills left outside.

    Bear attacks have been in the spotlight in recent months, as protected populations are seen by some to be growing out of control.

    “Some 2,000 grizzlies roam western Wyoming, eastern Idaho, western Montana, while several thousand more inhabit the Canadian Rockies and Alaska.”

    Grizzly bears can grow to be up to 700 pounds. The species is listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act.

    “Elected officials in Rocky Mountain states are pressing federal officials to lift their protected status, which could open the door to future hunting.”

    • I have black bears in my forest. Much smaller than grizz but you don’t want to surprise them. We make noise when we walk, and take the dog to buy us a few seconds just in case.

      • Black bears eat more meat then Grizz and are much more likely to attack, a fact most people don’t know.

      • When I was little, we used to go to a Russian restaurant. It had a full-size black bear just inside the entrance. I loved that bear, I’d climb up his pedestal and hug him.

        Then when I was about four, we to a forest in New Hampshire that had real, LIVE black bears! So I started chasing one, just a little hug…

        Almost gave my uncle a heart attack. But he got a story out of it. Over-&-over-&-over for the rest of his life.

        • When I was working in Colorado I stopped to get gas and went in to pay, the first thing I saw was a large mounted Polar Bear standing up with both front legs spread wide. I almost had a heart attack, the owner of gas station was laughing his a$$ off at my reaction.

          • It’s like the man hidden in the bush: people scream, then laugh.

            Maybe a sign of healthy adaptation. Reality is always there; we cope as resilient humans must.

      • A whistle helps and some bear spray. A black bear attacked an 86 year old woman near where I live. He broke her ribs when he was on top of her BUT she punched him hard in the nose and he squawked and left. She crawled into her house and called for help. She was in the hospital for a while but lived. Tough woman.

    On Sunday, after his explosive interview with Maria Bartiromo, Rep. Ron Johnson (R-WI) released his 13-page preliminary findings on the investigation into the attempted assassination of President Trump.

    Senator Ron Johnson, responding to the alarming circumstances surrounding the attack, has taken immediate action by reaching out to key federal officials, including Attorney General Merrick Garland, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and FBI Director Christopher Wray.

    In his letter, Johnson demanded the preservation of all records related to the security of the rally, background information on the alleged gunman, and communications between law enforcement agencies, including the Secret Service, from July 11 to July 14, 2024.

    “The lack of transparency from federal entities regarding this assassination attempt is unacceptable,” according to the summary of the preliminary investigation. “Congress and the public deserve a full explanation and complete answers to all questions regarding the failure of security at the Butler rally.”

More importantly, I want to know why she’s not resigning. I think tomorrow you’ll see probably it’s likely that she’ll step down.

    Pete Hegseth: Congresswoman, is there going to be a classified and declassified version of this as the investigation is ongoing? Or how much will she be able to say publicly?

    Rep. Anna Paulina Luna: The one frustrating thing that we’ve continued to hear from Secret Service and really from bureaucrats is that this is an ongoing investigation, which is why I’ve really pushed, along with a number of my colleagues, to do a separate committee to investigate this. I do believe that the American people deserve answers right away. I don’t think that there should be a classified version of this. I mean, everyone needs to know what happened here. I This is incredibly dangerous.

    Rachel Campos-Duffy: It’s super revealing that Alejandro Mayorkas is stonewalling on subpoenas when he knows that the entire nation wants answers to this. I mean, it’s just that guy. It’s unbelievable. I want to know more about this kid as well. I mean, will that be part of the investigation? We know he had overseas encrypted accounts. What 20-year-old has that? Also, are you going to get into… Apparently, he googled depression. Was he on psychotropic drugs? I mean, all of these things are important for us to know as a nation.

    Dr. Ronny Jackson examined Trump’s ear injury and treated the wound.

    “The bullet passed, coming less than a quarter of an inch from entering his head, and struck the top of his right ear. The bullet track produced a 2 cm wide wound that extended down to the cartilaginous surface of the ear. There was initially significant bleeding, followed by marked swelling of the entire upper ear. The swelling has since resolved, and the wound is beginning to granulate and heal properly. Based on the highly vascular nature of the ear, there is still intermittent bleeding requiring a dressing to be in place. Given the broad and blunt nature of the wound itself, no sutures were required,” Dr. Ronny Jackson wrote in a summary.

    Dr. Jackson told Maria Bartiromo that he was in the Secret Service meeting following the assassination attempt on Trump and Director Kimberly Cheatle lie to his face.

    On Sunday, Rep. Ron Johnson joined Maria Bartiromo on her show, dropping bombshell after bombshell concerning the recent assassination attempt on President Trump.

    Johnson informed Bartiromo that the Secret Service had neglected their scheduled meetings on the morning of the attempted assassination. Moreover, they had also taken photographs of the would-be assassin, identified as Crooks, an hour prior to the shooting! Johnson also revealed that he has seen evidence suggesting the possibility of not one, but two shooters.

    Bartiromo told Pete Hegseth of Fox and Friends Weekends, “The local officers went up to that roof and started taking pictures of the dead body, of the shooter’s body. So suddenly a guy in a gray suit walks up the ladder and goes up to the roof.”

    This man, who did not appear to have credentials, was initially assumed to be from the Secret Service. He instructed one of the local law enforcement officers to send photos to a particular cell phone number. Later, it was revealed that this individual was not from the Secret Service at all.

    “We’re going to tell you exactly who that person was and what agency the local enforcement sent the pictures to,” Bartiromo promised. She also mentioned that they would dig deeper into this investigation of what she called a “massive security failure.”

    During her interview with Johnson, he revealed that the authorities were instructed to send their investigation photos to an “ATF agent.”

    “We called up that ATF agent. That individual said that he was with the ATF, and now he’s gone dark,” Johnson told Bartiromo.

    He expressed frustration with what he called “the runaround” from federal law enforcement agents. Despite receiving information from local law enforcement, Johnson lamented that federal agencies were less forthcoming.

    “I wish I could rely and have faith in the FBI and the Secret Service to do a truthful accounting of this. But that’s not been my experience with the Russian collusion hoax and for years dealing with federal law enforcement. We need completely separate and independent investigations, and it has to start now,” Johnson concluded.

    Maria Bartiromo: I got to get to this. After the shooter was taken down by Secret Service, the local law enforcement, and I know this from some of your preliminary comments, your preliminary findings, started taking pictures of the dead body, right? Can you tell us what happened then?

    Senator Ron Johnson: Correct. So that’s a sniper team that was in the AGR building, they’re the first ones that went up on the roof. They were the first to encounter the dead assassin at that point in time. Later on, other people joined them, and somebody told them to send the pictures they had taken to an ATF agent, which I think is very strange. We called up that ATF agent. That individual said that he was with the ATF, and now he’s gone dark.

    We’ve also reached out to the Secret Service agents in charge on the ground. All we’re getting there is the runaround. We are getting information from local law enforcement, and we appreciate that. But unfortunately, federal law enforcement agent, they’re just saying, Well, go through your congressional liaison. Again, that’s going to be unacceptable. I wish I could rely and have faith in the FBI and the Secret Service to do a truthful accounting of this. We need completely separate and independent investigations, and it has to start now.

    Maria Bartiromo: Are you questioning whether or not there was a second shooting shooter? Is that what you’re questioning, or if the shooter had a different gun?

    Senator Johnson: I saw an extremely convincing video online. I know it’s all over the place. There were three distinct shots early on, followed by another five in more staccato, more rapidly fired, and then the final one, which we believe took the shooter out. How do you explain that? I don’t know. I’m not an expert. But the individual putting that video out says it clearly shows that there were at least three different weapons fired that day.

    Again, I don’t know, but we can’t trust the FBI and the Secret Service to do an honest and open, transparent investigation. That’s just a very sad fact. We’ve got to rely on other sources independent to really find out what the truth of the matter was on Saturday, July 13th.

    Maria Bartiromo: Oh, my God, Senator. Incredible. All right, you sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Director of the FBI, Christopher Ray, about this epic failure of security. Can you walk us through what you’d like to see and your preliminary findings of your investigation, which has now become bipartisan? Is that correct?

    Senator Ron Johnson: Correct. I spoke with the chairman, Blumenthal, the chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee investigation. I’m the ranking member. He completely agrees with me that we must start doing transcribed interviews with all the witnesses now while memories are fresh. That’s really good news from my standpoint.

    My staff immediately started reaching out to local law enforcement. We’ve gathered a fair amount of information. Again, we’re just scratching the surface. But a couple of things that we found out, for example, the Secret Service did not even attend the 9:00 security meeting with local law enforcement. It pretty well put in charge the Butler County law enforcement to coordinate things. Law enforcement wasn’t even on the same channel. The SWAT and sniper teams weren’t –

    Maria Bartiromo: Just to be clear, Senator, that was a 9:00 AM meeting on July 13th, the day of the shooting? Correct.

    Senator Johnson: Secret Service wasn’t there. Secret Service had been there for site visits, weren’t even there. It turned over some of the outer perimeter stuff to local law enforcement. They weren’t even on the same security channel. The sniper and SWAT teams weren’t on the same channel as the patrol officers, and they weren’t on the same channel as Secret Service, so they had to relay things.

    One of the things we found out is that we’ve got a more detailed timeline. This picture is now on the internet, but a picture was, a photo was taken by the local sniper team in the AGR Building at 5:14 of Crooks. Again, we had pictures of this guy. Why was he not intercepted? There’s so many unanswered questions here.

    Maria Bartiromo: The pictures were taken at 5:14, and he was shot at 6:11?

    Senator Johnson suggested there may have been two shooters. He also pointed to a mysterious man from the ATF who has gone dark since the shooting.

  29. Some Republicans call on Biden to resign the presidency too after ending his 2024 campaign
    These GOP members argue that if Biden can’t be a candidate, he can’t be president. The president has said he won’t resign and will focus on finishing out his term.

    WASHINGTON — Some Republicans reacted immediately to President Joe Biden’s announcement that he won’t seek re-election in November by demanding that he resign the presidency as well.

    “If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President. He must resign the office immediately. November 5 cannot arrive soon enough,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said in a statement shortly after Biden revealed his decision.

    New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, the conference chair and fourth-ranking House Republican, added: “If Joe Biden can’t run for re-election, he is unable and unfit to serve as President of the United States. He must immediately resign.”

    On a summer evening in 1978, Donald Harris took his two young daughters to the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Calif., to their first concert.
    Kamala, the girl who would become vice president, was the eldest at 13. And as she watched Bob Marley and the Wailers sing and sway at the outdoor arena on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley, she found herself mesmerized.
    “We sat up top in the back of the theater and, as I watched the performance, I was in complete awe,” Harris said in an email to The Washington Post. “To this day, I know the lyrics to nearly every Bob Marley song.”
    The experience was meant to be more than musical. Her father, a prominent Jamaican economics professor teaching at Stanford, was trying to imbue his two American-born girls with a sense of pride in their roots. Like the Harrises, Marley was from a parish on the north coast of the island called St. Ann.
