Reader’s Links for July 19th, 2024

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    • Update: Widespread CrowdStrike “Outages” Explained – Possible Election Implications
      thegatewaypundit.com/2024/07/update-widespread-crowdstrike-outages-explained-possible-election-implications/
      Jul. 19, 2024 4:00 pm

In the early hours of Friday morning, not long after President Trump concluded his speech at the RNC Convention, news began to pour out on social media about “IT outages” across not just the country, but the globe. Major US airlines Delta, American Airlines and United Air grounded flights. As of this writing, Delta has resumed “some flight departures,” while American Airlines and United Airlines have said they’ve resumed normal operations, but expect delays.

While the airlines seem to be operating at normal or somewhat normal capacity, the FAA’s National Airspace System Status has added to their list of impacted airports. This list is subject to change.

The “outages” have impacted banks, hospitals, police and emergency services, media, among others.

The source of the problem has been identified by CrowdStrike as having to do with the Falcon platform. Crowdstrike is a cybersecurity company who was a critical component in the Democrat-led and Democrat-funded “Russia Hoax.”

CrowdStrike put out a statement on their website:

CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This was not a cyberattack.

The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website.

We further recommend organizations ensure they’re communicating with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels.

CrowdStrike, who’s website proclaims them “Cybersecurity’s AI-Native Platform for the XDR Era-We Stop Breaches,” stated they identified the problematic file, singular, and offer several solutions to remedy the problem, including creating a back-up of the disk volume before proceeding.

Mark Cook is a computer expert who has been investigating election machines, infrastructure and procedures since the 2020 Election. On his website, HandCountRoadShow.org, he offered an explanation in layman’s terms, describing the Falcon Platform’s “Falcon Sensor” as a “part of their Cloud-based endpoint protection platform”:

Think of Endpoint Protection as a firewall on each device that is part of a network. The ‘cloud’ part of it is similar to a conductor in a orchestra, with the endpoints being those playing the instruments, and the instruments are the individual computers/servers.

According to Cook, the “Blue Screen of Death” experienced globally after the “outage” is caused by an update that conflicted with Microsoft Windows, causing machines to get “stuck during reboot,” preventing them from loading the operation software.

In terms of potential impact on our election, Cook writes:

The idiots that implemented our cloud-based voter registration and poll-book systems have created a HUGE abuse vector in our election ecosystem and I’d be shocked if those election systems weren’t also affected by this. And there is nothing that can prevent their being another accidental (or intentional) abuse! Have you considered that this may just be cover for an election hack just prior to/during an election? It would be perfect cover.

He notes in his article a post on X from Katie Hobbs of Arizona regarding the impacts on Arizona, while Maricopa County Elections put out a similar statement that some voting locations have been impacted. Arizona’s primary elections are on July 30th, but, lets be real, its now “Election Month”, not “Election Day,” so of course early voting begins 28 days prior to the 30th.

Cook offers his advice on how to fix these systems as well. And it is a little more concerning than the watered-down version mentioned earlier:

The affected file in the update is a particular ‘driver’ that was updated. A ‘driver’ is a program that runs on the computer that performs a task. This driver is the Falcon driver. To repair it, the affected ‘driver’ must be removed in order to allow the operating system to boot up, then the new fixed version of the driver must be installed. The huge complication here is that the driver must be removed MANUALLY. A further complication is for servers that have encrypted hard drives because extra steps must be performed to decrypt the hard drive in order for the repair to be implemented. For companies that didn’t follow best-practices on their encryption passwords, their systems will be permanently locked out and unrecoverable.

Cook goes on to list a step-by-step for remedying the problem on his website.

Trump is surrounded by agents after he was nearly assassinated at his PA rally.

      And the hits keep coming.

Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) sent a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Friday demanding answers on the attempted assassination attack on President Trump at his rally in Pennsylvania last weekend.

Senator Hawley wrote that whistleblowers have notified him that a majority of the security officials working the rally last weekend were not even Secret Service personnel but were with the Homeland Security Investigations team!

They were not even trained Secret Service personnel!

Government officials also treated the attempted assassination as a “loose” security event and that canines were not used at entry points and to detect threats.

      It was a setup!

    • More Proof American College Campuses Are Cesspools of Leftist Indoctrination-Professors at UVA and Carnegie Mellon Politicize Trump Assassination Attempt

Since the October 7 Hamas terror attacks against Israeli civilians, Americans have had a disturbing look inside at what is really happening on college campuses across the country as many have devolved into cesspools of leftist indoctrination.

The naked anger and contempt for conservatives has extended into crazed theories about the failed assassination attempt on President Trump on Saturday.

College Reform reports that University of Virginia Assistant Professor Sethunya Mokoko shared a post on X suggesting that the failed assassination attempt was “staged theatrics” to garner “idiots’ vote.”

In a quote-tweet, Mokoko said that Trump’s secret service purposefully “ignored” eyewitnesses who allegedly informed police of an armed man on a roof before the shooting took place.

And in a now disappeared tweet, Mokoko suggested security ”ignored [Crooks] because trump & secrete service staged theatrics to win idiots’ vote.”

College Reform also reported that Uju Anya, an associate professor of second language acquisition at Carnegie Mellon University, took to social media to also suggest the shooting was “staged” and the shooter was part of a “stupid show.”

Screenshots are provided in case she decides to delete her disturbing behavior.

Anya posted on X, “It was staged. Like a stupid Tubi movie set in the Bronx with palm trees in the background.”

    • ‘The FBI Is Where Evidence Goes to Die – They are the Mop-Up Men for Crimes of the State” – Mike Benz on the FBI’s Lone Gunman Claim in Trump Assassination Attempt (VIDEO)
      thegatewaypundit.com/2024/07/fbi-is-where-evidence-goes-die-they-are/

Mike Benz joins OAN to discuss the investigation into the Trump assassination attempt.

Mike Benz is a former State Department official with responsibilities in formulating and negotiating US foreign policy on international communications and information technology matters. Mike is the founder of the Foundation for Freedom Online.

Mike recently sat down with Kara McKinney on her Tipping Point program on OAN.

Mike Benz: “The FBI is where evidence goes to die. They are the mop-up men for crimes of the state. They have been for a century now, but particularly in the past 20 years. It’s so gross as to basically when they make us never believe something until the FBI officially denies it.

This is a situation where they made a formal determination it was a lone gunman before the night was even over. They already made their conclusion before they started the investigation.

Then you the fact that there was not a single social media post, now over 100 hours since the event took place, not a single X post, Facebook post, Instagram post, Reddit post. You don’t just get the idea to assassinate the President of the United States without something so extreme that it tilts the entire world on its axis unless you have some community you’re interacting with that is encouraging you, goading you on or radicalizing you.

And my concern is that the FBI, who was at the shooter’s house, the killer’s house, mind you, this man murdered Cory Comperatore, a hero firefighter protecting his daughter. So the murderer and would be assassin of the President of the United States, this person was obviously following people online, communicating with people online.

The FBI was at his house for four hours before they disclosed a name. That means they have the IP When you have someone’s IP address, the router that they’re using the Internet from, you know everything. You know their search history, you know what they plugged into Google, you know what they bought in their Amazon shopping carts, you know every connection node you could possibly ask for.

The fact that the entire thing has been locked up, everything’s shut down on socials, everything now going to be shrouded in the cloak of an ongoing investigation, likely for months now, when we know that the FBI has gotten busted a dozen times in the past decade alone, being ultimately responsible for radicalizing these shooters. We saw this happen with the Whitmer fed-apping/attempted assassination, we were told, where there’s this five alarm fire about how there was this MAGA group that was going to kidnap and potentially assassinate the Michigan governor. Months go by, it turns out half of them were feds, and the other half were radicalized. They were flown around the country. They were pitched to buy explosives all by federal agents.

You had the case in 2015 where the FBI in the Garland, Texas shooting with ISIS, and it turned out that the FBI, years later, took four and a half years after the event for it to come out that the FBI had paid an informant $125,000 to tell him to, quote, tear up Texas and to radicalize the person.

  3. Big Win or Consolation Prize?: Court Rules That Arizona Can Require Proof of Citizenship to Vote – UNLESS Voters Use Federal Registration Forms
    by Guest Contributor Jul. 19, 2024 12:00 pm122 Comments

Republicans are hesitantly optimistic about election reform in Arizona following a decision by the 9th Circuit Court that requires officials to verify voters’ proof of Citizenship when registering to vote with the state.

In the past, all Arizona residents were able to fill out a state registration form and those who did not provide citizenship documents were automatically enrolled to vote in federal elections only. Because of this ruling, residents are now required to provide documentation proving citizenship, if they fill out a state registration form.

Unfortunately, in the same ruling on Thursday, the court maintained that Arizona must continue to accept federal voter registration forms, which do not require residents to show any proof of citizenship.

  4. LAWSUIT: Migrant Children Suffered “Pervasive Abuse” – Including Rape, Sexual Assault – At Biden-Contracted Housing Facilities
    thegatewaypundit.com/2024/07/lawsuit-migrant-children-suffered-pervasive-abuse-including-rape/
    Jul. 19, 2024 11:00 am

According to a DOJ press release on Thursday, the United States Government has filed an explosive lawsuit against Southwest Key Programs, the largest housing contractor for unaccompanied migrant children, over heinous sexual assault allegations.

The lawsuit alleges that migrant children were subject to “severe or pervasive sexual harassment” and rape by employees of the organization.

    From the filing:

“Since at least 2015, multiple Southwest Key employees—including supervisory and non-supervisory employees—have subjected children living at Southwest Key shelter carehomes to severe, pervasive, and unwelcome sexual abuse and harassment, including as documented by Southwest Key Reports. This conduct includes, but is not limited to:

    Employees perpetrating sexual assault and rape of children, including sexual contact in the manner of genital-to-genital and oral-to-genital contact;
    Employees intentionally touching, either directly or through the clothing, the genitalia, anus, groin, breast, inner thigh, and buttocks of children;
    Employees soliciting, requesting, coercing, and inducing the above-described acts with children;
    Employees soliciting, requesting, coercing, and inducing nude or sexually explicit photos of children;
    Employees making repeated unwelcome and unwanted entreaties for sexually inappropriate relationships with children;
Employees making sexual comments and gestures to children; and Employees engaging in voyeurism and leering at children with the intent to abuse, arouse, or gratify sexual desire.”

In one report, a youth worker reportedly sexually abused a 5-year-old girl, an 8-year-old girl, and an 11-year-old girl. The 8-year-old girl reported that he would come into their rooms late at night to abuse the girls and then threaten to kill their families if they told anyone about what had happened.

Another report exposed how a different employee would take a 15-year-old boy to a hotel and pay him to perform sexual acts on him. The same worker allegedly attempted to touch another teenage boy during transport to reunite the child with his parents.

This lawsuit follows just one week after whistleblowers testified that the Biden administration is facilitating the trafficking of migrant children via contractors receiving billions of taxpayer dollars. The whistleblowers alleged that the Biden Regime was turning a blind eye to the abuse and spending billions of dollars to facilitate it through government contractors.

Bombshell Whistleblower Testimony: Biden Regime Paying BILLIONS to Facilitate Child Trafficking via Government Contractors

Encouraging mass migration across our border has not only had disastrous consequences for Americans, many of which have been killed at the hands of these invaders, it also has had catastrophic outcomes for these migrant children.

While it may be common sense to say the parents are mostly responsible for the consequences of the dangerous journey across our border that often leads to abuse or death of their children, there is no excuse for the abuse that US government contractors have inflicted on these innocent children thanks to taxpayer dollars provided by the Biden Regime.

Despite the Democrat Party’s claim that their open border policy is a moral and humane one, they ignore the nightmare that they’ve created for both Americans and unaccompanied migrant children in this country. The last thing Americans should ever consider “humane” is their tax dollars being used to facilitate government-sponsored human trafficking at our border.

  5. Op-Ed Blames ‘Comfort of Amnesia’ For Opposing Gun Control. It’s Quite the Contrary
    By Tom Knighton | 2:29 PM | July 19, 2024
    AP Photo/Michael Conroy

I understand where the average gun control advocate is coming from. I disagree with them, but I understand their position perfectly well. While a number of them probably see guns as a barrier to their own preferred flavor of tyranny, the average gun control advocate really does believe that gun control will make us safer. They really to buy into the argument that restricting the purchasing of firearms by law-abiding people sort of “trickles down” to the criminals somehow.

    I understand that.

The issue, however, is that most people who favor gun control haven’t got a clue why we oppose it. They routinely argue that if we wanted to do something about violent crime, we’d support gun control, despite the fact that literally no one on this side of the debate believes gun control reduces violent crime, just to name one example.

Then I came across an editorial from outside of the US–many Americans like to look to English-language publications outside of the country because they think there’s more enlightenment to be found there than here–that blames “comfort of amnesia,” of a sort, for not passing gun control.

But amid the din of which of the old men returns to the White House as the 47th president of the United States of America or the motive of the 20-year-old Republican voter-turned-gunman or even the misgivings about Trump’s victimhood, an age-old question of gun culture has made a comeback. American gun culture has a central role in the assassination attempt on Trump, and Trump himself is one of the fiercest defenders of such a culture. And if anyone thinks Trump will now rethink his love for guns, one of his advisers, Chris LaCivita, has clarified that the ex-president will continue to protect gun rights. For the Republicans, the constitutional guarantee offered by the Second Amendment for individuals to carry guns is sacrosanct; Trump will potentially continue to exploit the Americans’ emotional attachment to the gun as a self-defense instrument.

Such is the gun obsession in the United States, even after seeing the assassination of four presidents—Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William McKinley and John F. Kennedy—and assassination attempts on Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George W Bush, among others, the country is helpless to do much about it. The comfort of amnesia is too dear to America when it comes to dealing with the tough question of gun violence. And with a morally repugnant record of supplying arms to Israel in its attempts to wipe out the Palestinians, Trump’s opponent and sitting president Joe Biden is lost for words. The United States should really unite to wipe out gun culture.

Of course, the inclusion of “wipe out the Palestinians,” you know this isn’t an editorial board worthy of being taken seriously.

But the idea of “comfort of amnesia” isn’t unique to these folks by any stretch. Many people really do think that we quickly forget the tragedies or near tragedies of the past.

    That’s not remotely true, though.

For example, we remember Lexington and Concord, when the British Army marched in to confiscate privately held guns so as to keep the 13 Colonies under the crown’s oppressive boot.

We remember the specter of slavery, a time when large groups of people were treated as cattle and were denied the basic human right of self-defense from those who claimed to be their masters.

We remember the bloody war fought to reverse that national sin, soon followed by another prolonged era of oppression of those same people. That was a time when they were once again denied their right to keep and bear arms because those vile individuals who would torment and murder them didn’t like their prey to have teeth of their own.

In the 20th Century, we remember the horrors of the Holocaust and how the Jewish citizens had been denied guns with which they could protect themselves. We remember the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, though, when some of those got their hands on guns and decided to fight back, at least being permitted to die on their feet rather than be exterminated.

We remember the Killing Fields of Cambodia.

    We remember the Holodomor.

    We remember the Armenian Genocide.

We remember a long list of incidents where people were stripped of their ability to defend themselves and suffered as a result.

But that’s not all we remember. Oh no, we remember so much more.

We remember how Ukraine began arming its citizens as the Russians massed upon the border, only to mount a greater defense than anyone thought possible.

We remember countless smaller instances when private citizens used privately owned guns to defend themselves from violent attacks.

The issue isn’t any “comfort of amnesia.” Amnesia would allow us to forget the horrors of the past, but it would also deny us the memory of our triumphs. It would mean that we’d be willing to ignore history and accept a restriction on our rights without regard for the terrible history of humanity.

But there wouldn’t be comfort in that because we’d forget how the right to keep and bear arms keeps this nation safe and sound. We’d forget the joy of going to the range with friends or family. We’d forget the relief when we hear a sound in the middle of the night and know we have the means to protect those we love.

I get that folks outside the US don’t understand that. They enjoy the comfort of amnesia because they have forgotten the troubling past. I pity them for it, one and all.

    https://bearingarms.com/tomknighton/2024/07/19/op-ed-blames-comfort-of-amnesia-for-opposing-gun-control-its-quite-the-contrary-n1225658#google_vignette

  6. Whodunnit?
    Who green-lit the Trump shooting?

July 19, 2024 by Mark Tapson 42 Comments
    Newsletter

[Order David Horowitz’s new book, America Betrayed, HERE.]

On Saturday, July 14, a 20-year-old local boy with virtually no online footprint or history of political radicalism brought a ladder and rifle to the Pennsylvania grounds where presidential candidate Donald Trump was about to speak to supporters. The would-be assassin stationed himself on a low, unsecured, slightly sloped rooftop with a direct line of sight to Trump, a mere 130 yards away, and got off a shot that came within a hair’s breadth of killing the likely next President. A Secret Service sniper then eliminated the threat (but only after he got off a total of eight shots, murdering one Trump supporter and critically wounding two others).

A profile of Thomas Matthew Crooks was quickly constructed: a bullied loner with a small circle of friends. a classmate told Fox News, who “were definitely the type, and they did, make threats to shoot up our school.” In the subsequent investigation, the FBI announced that it couldn’t seem to get into Crooks’ phone, and yet the Bureau also asserted confidently and swiftly that he acted alone.

Those are the bare bones of the story you’re expected to accept. And the mainstream media, who have done the heavy Democrat lifting over the last eight years of smearing Trump as Hitler 2.o and a fascist Threat to Democracy™, are now doing their best to keep the narrative focused on Trump and his supporters as being primarily responsible for the country’s heated political rhetoric and violence, including Trump’s own shooting.

In spite of the media’s efforts, a counter-narrative is building momentum, centered on what many are describing as a “sh*t show” of a security failure on the part of the Secret Service. How did the Service drop the ball? Let us count the ways.

Joe Biden’s security apparatus reportedly starved Trump’s security team of the resources it needed, not only for the Pennsylvania rally, but repeatedly over the course of weeks and months. With Trump’s security detail understaffed, Biden’s security team diverted even more resources to a hastily planned Jill Biden event that just happened to be in the area.

NBC News has the timeline of what happened at the Pennsylvania rally. To summarize: Crooks — who also had a range finder and a backpack with him — was reported as a suspicious person a full hour before he began shooting, and yet the Secret Service managed to lose sight of him. Roughly 30 minutes after that initial report, State Police notified the Secret Service of a suspicious person at 5:51 p.m. The Secret Service notified its snipers two minutes later. At 6:02 p.m., Trump took the stage, and seven minutes later, bystanders in the crowd began pointing out Crooks on the rooftop and shouting for law enforcement to stop him. Two minutes later, he opened fire on Trump.

A local police counter-sniper team reportedly was stationed inside the building Crooks crawled on top of; the building was a “watch post” for local police snipers to scan for threats, law enforcement sources told the New York Post. Sources told the Post that the team was inside the building, but not on the roof.

Even as Secret Service snipers on the roof near Trump saw the gunman, security took no action either to neutralize the threat or to surround Trump and remove him from the stage to safety.

All these factors considered, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to see this as a just a series of bumbling errors. On the contrary, they begin to resemble a deliberate plan to render Trump vulnerable while appearing to be mistakes.

Add to all this the humiliating spectacle of female agents of the DEI-weakened Secret Service on the scene of the vehicle into which Trump was hustled, fumbling ineptly with their weapons and sunglasses, and generally exuding uncertainty and panic rather than calm and efficiency.

Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle, who had elevated “diversity” to one of the top priorities of the organization, offered this jaw-dropping explanation for the decision to leave the roof unguarded: “That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,” she said.

One look at the roof belies this ridiculous excuse. The angle of the slope can’t be more than, say, 5-10%. Law enforcement officers who were photographed standing over the shooter’s dead body afterward clearly have no difficulty balancing. And agents were stationed on nearby rooftops that had slopes of greater angles than the one on which the shooter lay. Cheatle’s justification for leaving the roof unguarded is so unconvincing that one can only assume she is either shockingly dense or lying.

In a television interview with ABC on Monday, Cheatle appeared to accept full responsibility for the security debacle, declaring that “the buck stops with me”; and yet in the face of a veritable tsunami of calls for her resignation, she vowed “to stay on” and failed to even make a report to the public. Instead of firing her, Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas, her boss, stated that his “confidence in Kim is 100 percent.” To stonewall the public on the worst security lapse in 40 years raises even more questions rather than resolving them.

Hanlon’s Razor is a concept that warns us never to attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity, although Hanlon misgauged just how evenly distributed malice and stupidity are when it comes to politics. In this instance, the mountain of Secret Service incompetence is so enormous that it strains credulity to accept it as mere stupidity. Considering the reach of the Deep State, the virulent hatred for Donald Trump that suffuses the Left, the Democrats’ history of obsessive attempts to subvert his first presidency and to derail a second term, and the Left’s unrestrained lust for power, it’s far from unreasonable to suspect foul play.

If the assassination attempt on Trump is the result more of malice than stupidity, then where does that buck stop? Who is the most likely candidate to have green-lit the security failures leading to Trump being shot, and possibly even given the go-ahead to the shooter himself? Some in the media are still pretending that the shooter’s motive is unclear; would it be too on-the-nose to suggest that perhaps eliminating the presidential candidate who is crushing the incumbent Biden was the motive? An unstoppable juggernaut of a candidate whom even Democrats were beginning to concede could not lose in November? Hey, we’re just asking questions. But the only person with the answers by her own admission – the head of the Secret Service – is not answering.

Now ask yourself, cui bono? Who benefits most from Trump being removed from the picture? The entire Democrat Party, sure, but who would have the power to authorize such a nefarious scheme? A Deep State operative in one of the alphabet agencies? One of the puppet masters pulling decrepit Joe Biden’s strings? What about the Biden crime family itself? Who would benefit more than Trump’s corrupt, floundering opponent Joe? Or perhaps wife Jill, who is determined to keep her husband in the Oval Office no matter what? Perhaps even their convicted-felon son Hunter, whose fortunes (and a presidential pardon) are directly tied to Dad’s?

    Hey, we’re just asking questions.
