Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

    • Geeez Johnny, isn’t it wonderful seeing how we Canadians are taking care of our own. I usually can deal with whatever comes my way, nothing surprises me anymore BUT this, this is our nation’s capital and this reminds me of the feckless globalist Prime Minister asking if Canadians should tolerate the unvaccinated.

The constant growing numbers this global clown is ALLOWING , WELCOMING, into Canada, and chastising anyone who does not agree with his global migration plans. How many drug runners, dealers have walked across our borders.

When does this madness stop? Is it Islamophobia to question why Canada’s Attorney General and Justice Minister would appoint as Chief Commissioner of the Human Rights Birju Dattani, a man who goes by middle name Mujahid? Has anyone looked at this man’s past record of HATE SPEECH? Could the Attorney General be that incompetent or…….Dattani should be made to resign and perhaps Arif Virani should also.

  1. This is interesting. I think Bitcoin is a scam, a trap, a diversion from the real threat to the USD precious metals. If this goes through what will it mean? Will it prove BC detractors wrong, or show how far dollar defenders will go to defend? After all, all competitors to the dollar were traditionally imprisoned or wacked, so why not this code to nothing?

Biden Admin’s New ‘Gun Violence’ Foray Has Problem with Numbers
Ammoland Inc. Posted on June 26, 2024 by Dave Workman
A declaration by Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy that “gun violence” is a public health crisis overlooks one thing: The numbers suggest this isn’t a First Aid problem. (Dave Workman)

While the establishment media was having a field day with the declaration by Biden administration Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy that “gun violence” is a “public health crisis,” and the Giffords gun prohibition lobbying group was making the most of it at Newsweek, there was just one problem: Numbers.

Buried in the Newsweek article, which quoted Giffords stating it has long “advocated for a public health approach to gun violence,” was this observation:

“The 10 states with the strongest gun laws, in ranking order, were California, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, New York, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland and Colorado. The states with the least stringent gun laws were Wyoming, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Idaho, Montana, Mississippi, South Dakota, Kansas and Arizona.

“The report gave California the highest ranking for gun law strictness, citing strengthened concealed carry laws and $3 million of investment in gun violence research, among other reasons.”

But a check with some other sources revealed that in 2022, the most recent year for which data is available, California reported the highest number of homicides in the country—2,206 according to the state Department of Justice—with a moderate percentage of gun ownership: 28.3 percent, according to data posted by Statista and the World Population Review.

New Jersey posted 254 murders, yet the state has only a 14.7 percent rate of gun ownership.

Illinois reported 881 homicides that year, with a 27.8 percent rate of gun ownership, followed by New York, with 762 slayings and a 19.9 percent gun ownership rate.

Maryland reported 511 murders, and then state has a 30.2 percent gun ownership rate, according to the World Population Review.

Connecticut posted 136 slayings, with 23.6 percent of residents owning guns, while Massachusetts logged 148 killings and 14.7 percent of the population owning guns.
If strict gun control worked, including reducing the number of gun owners, none of these states should be racking up these kinds of body counts. Nobody seems interested in broaching that subject.

There are outliers, including Texas, where 2,020 people were murdered in 2022, and there is a 45.7 percent rate of gun ownership.
But the Giffords group pointed to the bottom ten states with the weakest gun laws, as though they had a problem. The numbers tell a different story, and ironically, Texas is not at the bottom of the list. The Newsweek article includes a map of the U.S. and Texas is listed as Number 31 out of 50 for strength of gun laws.

Montana, which has the highest rate of gun ownership of any state at 66.3 percent, reported 49 homicides in 2022, according to the Statista data. Wyoming, where 66.2 percent of the residents have a gun, reported a paltry 14 slayings that year. Idaho is another state with lots of guns—60.1 percent of the population is armed—and not many murders: 53 in 2022. Yet in none of those states are the streets, or even the unpaved roads, awash in the blood of murder victims.

Indeed, according to the popular website Heyjackass.com, which monitors Chicago homicides, in 2022 the Windy City logged 738 murders of which 666 involved firearms. That is more than the combined totals Arizona, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, with two other states listed for weak gun laws—Kansas (126) and South Dakota (39)—thrown in for good measure.

Arizona, which has a 46.3 percent gun ownership rate, posted 456 homicides in 2022.

It should be noted that all of the states at the bottom of the Giffords list for “weak” gun laws are “Constitutional Carry” states.

As quoted by Newsweek, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords stated, “I have seen firsthand how shootings are a major threat to Americans’ lives and well-being, and our leaders must view the problem as the public health crisis it is. There are many powerful forces who downplay the threat of gun violence because the status quo benefits them financially or politically, and I’m grateful that Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy had the courage to do what he knows is best for our nation’s health.”

It’s not “downplaying” gun-related violence but rather putting it into perspective. Strong gun control laws, as illustrated above, do not translate to lower body counts. Neither do lower rates of gun ownership. The gun ban lobby avoids addressing this conundrum, because it does not follow their narrative. If stricter gun laws worked, along with a lower percentage of people with guns, the number—not the rate—of murders should go down.

Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, responded to Murthy’s declaration about “gun violence” with some remarks of his own.

“Dr. Murthy is simply Joe Biden’s mouthpiece,” Gottlieb observed. “The real crisis in America is the failed policies of the Biden administration. Instead of focusing on locking up felons and disarming criminal gangs, he wants to disarm millions of honest gun owners whose only crime is that we exercise our right to keep and bear arms.”

CCRKBA has some 650,000 members and supporters across the country and is one of the nation’s leading grassroots gun rights organizations. Gottlieb said the real problem with violent crime in this country is that it is a “symptom of failed leadership.”

Many (including LEOs) are falling into the trap of becoming programmed by the media and thus accepting that terms like “shocking” and “surprising” are destined to define them and their response to critical incidents.
But, should anyone really be surprised or “shocked” when violent criminals, cheered on by their leftist sponsors in government and in the media, do their thing?

    YouTube video player

    1) I notice that the NYPD detective who interrogated the recent Kissena Park rape suspect sheepishly dances around the question of the suspect’s “place of origin,” of course not wanting to admit that this rapist is an illegal alien, cynically welcomed to this “sanctuary city” by leftist city officials, solely for the purpose of milking illegal votes.

Admitting that a sizable percentage of illegal immigrants flooding across our open borders are, in fact, violent criminals would violate the “agenda-promoting” leftist dogma!

    2) South American “burglary teams,” using high-tech jamming devices that neutralize cell phones, security cameras, and wireless security systems, are now stalking high-rent districts in NY, NY, CA, IL, and other liberal enclaves.

And, they seem unconcerned that many of the residences they’re invading are occupied at the time!

    3) Boiler-plate recommendations from media “security experts” are mostly cynical lies

“Just give them what they want”

That didn’t work out so well for the University of Georgia nursing student who was raped and murdered near her dormitory (in broad daylight) by a Venezuelan illegal alien in February

    “Just call the police”

That won’t work so well either, when you’re informed by the 911 operator (assuming you can even get through) that they have no officers available to send, since staffing-levels are now below critical!

    “Justice will prevail”

Wishful thinking! Leftist “prosecutors” refuse to prosecute murderous criminals, particularly illegal aliens, who are terrorizing every Democrat-run metro area.

    “You don’t need a gun”

    Really?
Then why do all those politicians enjoy the continuous protection of a legion of heavily armed (taxpayer-funded) bodyguards, all equipped with “weapons of war?”

Do they know something we don’t?
Do you suppose they don’t believe their own lies?

We are now experiencing levels of violent crime and anarchy, right here in the USA that ten years ago, would have been considered a bizarre fantasy.

But this is no cheap, B-rate movie. We’re actually living through this stuff.

    Many won’t!

Anti-Gun Merrick Garland & DOJ’s Failure to Destroy Bruen – A Victory for the 2nd Amendment

The United States Supreme Court recently delivered a crucial verdict in the United States vs. Rahimi case, a decision that marked a significant defeat for Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice (DOJ) in their attempts to undermine the “text first, history second” approach established by the Heller and Bruen cases. The ruling reaffirmed the Second Amendment’s importance and demonstrated the resilience of constitutional rights in America.
    The Battle in Rahimi

In the Rahimi case, Garland and the DOJ aimed to dismantle the historical tradition methodology used in Second Amendment cases, hoping to reintroduce “tiers of scrutiny” or interest balancing. However, their efforts were met with a resounding failure. The Supreme Court’s decision not only protected the Second Amendment but also emphasized the narrow scope of their ruling, focusing only on the case’s specific circumstances.
Key Takeaways from the Supreme Court Decision

Narrow Ruling: Chief Justice John Roberts’ majority opinion was concise, only a few pages long, and centered on the principle that the Second Amendment codifies a pre-existing right. The Court highlighted that a facial challenge to a law, which argues that no possible application of the law could be constitutional, is difficult to sustain. In this case, the Court found that some applications of 18 USC 922 G8, which restricts firearm possession under certain circumstances, could be constitutional.
Due Process Matters: The decision underscored the importance of due process in cases involving gun rights. Although the due process argument wasn’t central in Rahimi, the Court acknowledged that future battles over red flag laws and gun confiscation would hinge on due process considerations.
Temporary vs. Permanent Disarmament: The Court’s ruling clarified that disarmament could be temporary if a person is deemed a violent threat following a judicial proceeding. This distinction is vital, especially in cases involving non-violent offenses where lifelong disarmament could be challenged.
Rejection of “Responsible” Citizen Argument: The decision also debunked the idea that only “responsible” citizens are entitled to Second Amendment protections. This clarification is a victory against potential abuses in gun licensing regimes that might seek to impose excessive restrictions.

    Merrick Garland’s Failure

Merrick Garland’s attempt to use the Rahimi case as a vehicle to weaken the Second Amendment and the Bruen methodology fell flat. The Supreme Court’s ruling reaffirmed the strength of the Second Amendment and provided language that could be beneficial in future cases. Garland’s strategy of using a case with a bad record and a problematic individual backfired, resulting in a decision that did not achieve his goal of undermining gun rights.

The Rahimi decision reminds us that the fight to protect the Second Amendment is ongoing, but this ruling is a significant victory. It reinforces the importance of historical context in Second Amendment cases and highlights the resilience of constitutional rights against efforts to erode them.

As we continue to navigate legal challenges and debates over gun rights, staying informed and engaged is crucial. The Rahimi case serves as a testament to the importance of vigilance in defending our constitutional freedoms.
    Its a Win!

The Supreme Court’s decision in the Rahimi case is a crucial win for Second Amendment advocates. It demonstrates the failure of anti-gun efforts to dismantle established legal principles and reaffirms the importance of protecting constitutional rights. While challenges remain, this ruling provides a strong foundation for future battles in the ongoing fight to defend the right to keep and bear arms.

Stay informed, stay vigilant, and continue to support efforts that uphold our constitutional freedoms. Together, we can ensure that the Second Amendment remains a cornerstone of American liberty.

  7. Is the NFA a Dead Law Walking?

When the NYSRPA v Bruen decision was first released, a justifiably skeptical gun world didn’t get too excited too fast. But, from the first time I read it, it became clear that gun control was in deep trouble. Those of us who have been in this fight for decades in one form or another still largely adopted a “wait and see” approach, because we’re used to things not panning out like we’d hope (even while the gun rights movement has had great success in the past couple of decades). Broken promises will do that to you.

But, now we’re seeing the opinion’s effects on subsequent cases, and almost no good for the gun control crowd is coming from it. Obvious things, like “may issue” concealed carry went first, followed by many other relatively small infringements. Age restrictions for young adults, carrying in post offices and the “sensitive places” argument are all having a tough time in court.

The big pillars of gun control are still intact, though, and the biggest pillar is the National Firearms Act of 1934. Under Franklin D. Roosevelt, the NFA was basically gun control’s beachhead in the United States. The $200 tax on several types of guns was a direct assault on working America’s gun rights, and was driven by corporate America’s fear of armed workers after things like the West Virginia Coal Wars. A big company could afford the tax and could turn their guns on striking workers, as could mobsters. But, the working man was priced out of the market and left at a disadvantage.

The NFA also acted as a cornerstone upon which other gun control could be built. Cases supporting the law came from corrupt courts, and then we got more gun control in the 1960s (including the 1968 Gun Control Act or GCA), and then more in the following decades. By the 1990s, Americans were starting to wise up and see that there was no end to the agenda, and started fighting back, and it took decades to unwind most of it.

Now, we’re facing the old GCA and NFA. The question we face now is this: will Bruen be enough to take them down? A video from Washington Gun Law last month gives us some clues about the fight ahead.

One of the big things that propped up the National Firearms Act and many subsequent federal gun control laws was the Interstate Commerce Clause, which was (wrongfully, IMHO) expanded by the FDR-Era Wickard v Filburn decision. Instead of trying to keep interstate commerce regular (in the Metamucil sense and not the “ban it” sense), FDR’s New Deal agenda wanted federal control over everything, and the court (under threat of court packing) gave him what he wanted by saying even things that compete with interstate commerce in a state are considered interstate commerce.

This reliance on interstate commerce to justify these laws still doesn’t address other issues, such as the glaring problem of the Second Amendment denying the federal government power over guns, even in interstate commerce. But, now we’re starting to see these questions head back to court in the post-Bruen landscape.

The State of Texas decided to take this on, both with a law and with court action against the federal government. After a lower court dismissed Texas’ attempt to stop federal overreach on interstate commerce grounds, it’s now in the Fifth Circuit and could possibly wind its way all the way up to the Supreme Court.

In short, Texas and others joining it in its case says that suppressors being built in the state and stay in the state aren’t part of interstate commerce, and that the federal government cannot regulate firearms anyway, as there’s no historical tradition from the founding era to show that this was common practice as understood by the ratifiers.

There’s a lot more to this story that makes it worth your time to watch the video (especially the public health angle), but it’s hard to overstate the possible importance of this case. It could not only lead to better respect for gun rights, but a reduction of federal overreach in many other areas based on an expansive view of interstate commerce.
