Veteran investigative journalist Catherine Herridge, whom CBS News laid off last week, shared a statement on Friday that appeared to confirm that the network had seized notes from her office after she had been let go in an unusual and heavy-handed manner that called into question the network’s motives.
Herridge, who reported on the Justice Department and other national security matters, had been reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop scandal for the network and was in the middle of a First Amendment case after refusing to turn over to an Obama-appointed federal judge the name of a source for an investigative piece she wrote for Fox News in 2017.

President Joe Biden attempted to appease Palestinians Friday by reversing a Donald Trump-era policy Friday that declared the presence of Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) to be legal under international law.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who has taken an increasingly hostile tone toward Israel, declared that settlements were “”inconsistent with international law,” reverting to a policy adopted by Barack Obama during the lame-duck weeks of his administration in 2016.
Trump reversed the Obama policy in 2019.
The decision was likely taken to appease domestic constituencies, including Muslim- and Arab-American voters in swing states like Michigan, who have been unhappy with the Biden administration’s (increasingly doubtful) support for Israel against Hamas.

Alkali attack suspect Abdul Ezedi drowned, police have confirmed.
Ezedi’s body was recovered from the River Thames on Monday and has now been formally identified following a post-mortem examination, the Metropolitan Police said.
His former girlfriend, a mother-of-two who was doused with a corrosive chemical in a harrowing attack on her and her children, aged eight and three, in Clapham last month, is now in a stable condition and no longer sedated, the force added.
On Friday, Commander Jon Savell said: “As the public would expect, our enquiries continue into this atrocious attack.
“We have still not been able to speak to her but hope to as soon as she is well enough.”
The Met said a file will now be passed to the coroner and Ezedi’s family have been informed.
Police believe Ezedi, from the Newcastle area, threw a burning chemical over the woman, some of which also injured one of the children, and slammed the three-year-old’s head on the ground in the attack on January 31.
He then fled the scene and initially used his bank card to travel on the Tube before walking a route that broadly hugged the banks of the River Thames in the following hours.
During a massive manhunt, investigators had to piece together CCTV footage to establish that he had jumped in the Thames.
At around 4pm on Monday the crew of a passing boat reported they had seen a body in the water near Tower Bridge at Tower Pier.
The body was recovered by the Metropolitan Police’s Marine Policing Unit, with support from London Fire Brigade, and has been viewed by detectives working on the investigation.
The post-mortem examination was carried out at Poplar Mortuary on Wednesday and his body was formally identified on Thursday, the Met said.

Microsoft has boasted that white employees are paid less than minority peers with the same job title.
The disclosure was part of the company’s 2023 Diversity and Inclusion Report.
“All racial and ethnic minority groups who are rewards eligible combined earn $1.007 total pay for every $1.000 earned by US rewards-eligible white employees with the same job title and level and considering tenure,” the Microsoft report states.
The report continues, “US Black and African American employees earn $1.004 and Asian employees earn $1.012 for every $1.000 earned by U.S. rewards-eligible white employees with the same job title and level and considering tenure.”
“This pay equity data represents total pay,” the report states. “Our total pay analysis considers base, annual bonus, and stock awards at the time of annual rewards for rewards- eligible employees.”
The company considers “understanding how to be effective allies key to activating a culture of inclusion.”

Students at Brooklyn’s PS 321 William Penn were given the coloring book “What We Believe: A Black Lives Matter Principles Activity Book” to celebrate Black History Month.
The principles in the book are described as “empathy, loving engagement, and just action among its participants; affirm the importance of Black women, families, elders, and LGBTQ folk; and celebrate the strength and diversity of Black people in their communities and around the globe.”
“The book uses drawings and worksheets to promote the 13 tenets of the Black Lives Matter movement, under titles like ‘Queer Affirming,’ ‘Transgender Affirming,’ and ‘Restorative Justice,’” The Free Press reports.
The book also lists demands from BLM, which include “mandate black history & ethnic studies,” “hire more black teachers,” and “fund counselors not cops,” according to the Free Press report.

Some of the military hardware supplied to Ukraine by the West has become inoperable after being damaged by rodents, Le Figaro has reported, citing a French fighter in the ranks of Kiev’s forces.
Eco-friendly weapons provided to the Ukrainian military by the country’s foreign backers are “sometimes unsuitable for the realities of the front” and “don’t come out well” in an actual conflict, the reported in an article on Thursday.
As proof of its claim, Le Figaro provided an account by an unnamed French fighter, who complained that “rodents ate the cables on some of the vehicles” used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Some of the protective sheaths of electrical wires [in the Western-supplied hardware] are made of corn fiber,” which attracts mice and rats, he said.
Le Figaro stressed that “the phenomenon is marginal, but it tells the story of the confrontation of the Western military equipment with reality.”
“Western vehicles were designed as a technological showcase. But, in the mud and cold, they don’t always work,” the French fighter is cited as saying.
“Luckily, the Ukrainians still had a few crusts” in their arsenal, he added, referring to the old Soviet-made hardware.
In December, the UK Ministry of Defence warned that a mild autumn and an abundance of food from the fields left uncultivated due to the hostilities had fueled an increase in the rodent population in areas of conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Heidi Przybyla, a reporter for Politico, appeared on MSNBC this week and fretted as she explained that Christian Nationalists believe that Americans’ rights are granted by God and not Congress or the Supreme Court.
Leaving aside her ridiculous distinctions between Christian Nationalists and other Christians, the rights of Americans DO come from God and not the government, which anyone knows if they have read the country’s founding documents.
How is this person even allowed to comment on politics on TV with this level of dishonesty or stupidity? This is a perfect example of why trust in the media is in the gutter.

HEIDI PRZYBYLA: I talked with a lot of experts on this and I have seen it with my reporting, Michael, which is that the base of the Republican Party has shifted. Remember when Trump ran in 2016, a lot of the mainline evangelicals wanted nothing to do with the divorced real estate mogul who cheated on his wife with a porn star, and all of that.
So what happened was that he was surrounded by this more extremist element. We are going to hear words like Christian nationalism, like the “new apostolic reformation.” These are groups that you should get very schooled on because they have a lot of power in Trump’s circle. And the one thing that unites all of them because there’s many different groups orbiting Trump.
But the thing that unites them as Christian nationalists, not Christians because Christian nationalists are very different, is that they believe that our rights as Americans and as all human beings do not come from any Earthly authority. They don’t come from Congress, from the Supreme Court, they come from God. The problem with that is that they are determining, men, are determining what God is telling them. In the past, that so-called “natural law,” it is a pillar of catholicism for instance, it has been used for good in social justice campaigns. Martin Luther King evoked it in talking about civil rights.

The liberal journal The Atlantic is reporting that unless they receive “guidance” from the U.S. Supreme Court, House Democrats might not certify the 2024 election if Trump wins.
Isn’t this the entire basis for the Democrat/Media freakout over January 6th? Isn’t this why so many Trump supporters are currently suffering in prison? Aren’t these the same Democrats who have been shrieking about the importance of ‘our democracy’ for years now?

Near the end of the Supreme Court’s oral arguments about whether Colorado could exclude former President Donald Trump from its ballot as an insurrectionist, the attorney representing voters from the state offered a warning to the justices—one evoking the January 6 riot that had set the case in motion.
By this point in the hearing, the justices had made clear that they didn’t like the idea of allowing a single state to kick Trump out of the presidential race, and they didn’t appear comfortable with the Court doing so either. Sensing that Trump would likely stay on the ballot, the attorney, Jason Murray, said that if the Supreme Court didn’t resolve the question of Trump’s eligibility, “it could come back with a vengeance”—after the election, when Congress meets once again to count and certify the votes of the Electoral College.
Murray and other legal scholars say that, absent clear guidance from the Supreme Court, a Trump win could lead to a constitutional crisis in Congress. Democrats would have to choose between confirming a winner many of them believe is ineligible and defying the will of voters who elected him. Their

No city in the USA has more police, nor more laws/regulations/ordinances/restrictions, than New York City!
So, when public order breaks down in NYC (which it has), despite innumerable laws and ostensible “law-enforcers,” the rest of us might get the crazy idea that all those suffocating restrictions on personal freedom may not be having the desired effect.
In fact, they may have the opposite effect!
NYC is the classic “canary in the coal mine.” When NYC descends into anarchy (which it has due to the flood of law-breaking illegal aliens that have invaded the USA & NYC), then the future of our civilization is in doubt.
Predictable advice smugly proffered by “personal-protection experts,” who say that all we need to do is “be aware of our surroundings” and that “there is safety in numbers and in well-lighted places” currently rings hollow in NYC!
Naively saying to yourself, “… this is a safe place,” represents poor strategy, as well as foolish self-deception, as countless crime victims have unhappily discovered.
Drama on the streets of NYC is not like drama on the stage. In the “theater of reality,” sticking around to “watch the show” also represents poor strategy.
The notion that “police will arrive in the nick of time” is yet another common (but false/foolish) belief.
The expectation that “security guards” are anything more than window dressing is equally foolish.
“Symbolic barriers” are just that, and nothing more!
Thus, only fools trust their lives and personal safety to the “security” that others are supposed to provide.
In the end, NYC’s leftist politicians don’t know the way. Never will.
To them, the familiar “more-power-for-them-and-less-freedom-for-us” mantra is the only direction they know, nor ever will know.
The rest of us know or should know, they’ll never change, and we’re thus on our own!
