Personally, we feel the category of hate crimes should not exist at all. A crime is a crime and judges always had discretion to determine punishment based on motive along with other factors.

Report on same incident. But the analysis is importantly incorrect. This did not happen because the protests where allowed. The UK and the West were free countries. Protests are mandatory. Judges always had discretion to adjust sentencing based on motive of the criminal. This was a fair system. The more we inject forced actions by the judiciary the less fair the system becomes overall, and the more machinery the evil have to use against the freedom minded.
Hate speech laws have done ZERO to protect Jewish people, but have done a great deal to make it difficult to speak truth about Islam. EVEN when it comes to showing people what Mohammad himself has to say or authoritative Islamic preachers to this very day.

A man attacked an elderly Jewish couple walking to their Synagogue in Beverly Hills, California on Saturday.
Raphy, 75, and his wife Rebecca, 70 were approached by a man who used a belt to attack Raphy. The attacker yelled, “Give me your earrings Jew,” according to Rebecca. The victims did not want their last names used for protection.
Raphy was treated at the scene for lacerations, and his wife was not injured.

Doctor: Hostages underwent ‘terrible abuse’; some have had suicidal thoughts
Hostages abducted into Gaza during Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel were drugged to keep them docile in captivity and subjected to psychological and sexual abuse, a specialist says.
“I’ve never seen anything like that” in 20 years of treating trauma victims, says Renana Eitan, director of the psychiatric division of Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Medical Center.
“The physical, the sexual, the mental, the psychological abuse of these hostages that came back is just terrible,” she adds. “We have to rewrite the textbook.”
The center has received 14 ex-hostages released by Hamas, some of whom reported being drugged, including with what doctors believe were benzodiazapines, a class of depressants with a sedative effect that includes drugs like Valium.
“They wanted to control the kids, and sometimes it’s difficult to control young children, adolescents. And they know that if they drug them they will be quiet,” she adds.
“One of the girls was given ketamine for a few weeks,” she continues, referring to a powerful dissociative anesthetic known for giving the recipient a sense of detachment from their environment. “It’s unbelievable to do this to a child.”
Eitan says one patient said she and others were held in total darkness for more than four days. “They became psychotic, they had hallucinations,” Eitan says.
There are also reports of self-harm among hostages in captivity, she notes, while some returnees have since professed to having suicidal thoughts.
“But this is our mission, to make sure that such things will not happen,” she added.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says Hamas’s Jabaliya and Shejaiya battalions in the northern Gaza Strip are “on the verge of being dismantled.”
“We have encircled the last strongholds of Hamas in Jabaliya and Shejaiya, the battalions that were considered invincible, that prepared for years to fight us, are on the verge of being dismantled,” Gallant says at a press conference.
He says hundreds of Hamas operatives have surrendered to Israeli troops in recent days, which he says “shows what is happening” to the terror group.

“Whoever surrenders — his life is spared,” Gallant says, adding that among those who have been arrested by the IDF are terrorists who participated in the October 7 terror attack on Israeli communities.

According to the report, “Teams of investigators from the FBI, GBI, and Georgia SOS conducted independent and simultaneous interviews of Fulton County elections workers who were involved in the processing and scanning of absentee ballots at State Farm Arena on Election Night on November 3, 2020. Investigators from the three law enforcement agencies also reviewed the entire unedited security video footage of the events in question at State Farm Arena. SOS investigators independently interviewed party observers who were present at State Farm Arena that evening.”

Harvard University President Claudine Gay has been under fire for the past week after her remarks to Congress where she refused to condemn calling for the “genocide of Jews” as hate speech.
Harvard President Gay was among Presidents of several other elite colleges who refused to condemn the remarks, including the Presidents of the University of Pennsylvania and the head of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Just this weekend, influential Jewish groups were able to force Liz Magill, President of UPenn, to resign. Chairman of the Board at UPenn, Scott Bok, is also reportedly resigning.
Since the October 7 massacre by Hamas-affiliated terrorists against Israel, the aftermath in American academic circles has been largely pro-Hamas virtue signaling. Student groups influenced by pro-Islam arguments have been highlighting the Palestinian cause and minimizing Jewish victims and concerns. These pro-Palestinian actions are taken on college campuses despite the strong, organized, financial and political power of American Jewish supporters of Israel.
Last month after major alumni and donors threatened to withhold donations, Harvard had to specifically condemn some of its own students after they praised Hamas, in response to pro-Israeli political and business pressure on Harvard. A prominent Rabbi at Harvard resigned in protest. Congress has threatened to investigate systemic anti-Semitism. Mobile video trucks are driving around Harvard urging President Claudine Gay to resign.
And now it appears that Harvard President Claudine Gay may have plagiarized her PhD thesis, perhaps the gravest of academic sins. Gay is Harvard’s first black President, taking office in 2023. Gay received her undergraduate at Stanford, and her masters and PhD from Harvard.

Man Who Allegedly Killed 6 Had Previously Been Bailed Out by Soros-Backed Group

The money of billionaire philanthropist George Soros continues to be found in the darkest of places.
KSAT-TV in San Antonio first revealed a man charged with killing six people in a series of deadly shootings last week was previously bailed out of jail by the Texas Organizing Project.
The organization, which claims its purpose is to advocate for bail reform, has received more than $1.2 million from one of Soros’ liberal nonprofits, Fox News reported Thursday.
“The Open Society Policy Center, the advocacy nonprofit in the Soros-funded Open Society Foundations network, provided $700,000 to the Texas Organizing Project in 2019 for organizational support,” the outlet reported. “Later, in 2021, the policy center gave the group $565,000 to ‘support policy advocacy on democracy reform and government accountability in Texas,’ according to its grant database.”
The suspect behind the shootings, Shane James, served as a U.S. Army infantry officer between February 2013 to August 2015.
In January 2022, James was charged with aggravated assault against his immediate family members but was bailed out by TOP’s statewide policy coordinator, Laquita Garcia, KSAT reported.
He was arrested Tuesday and charged in four fatal shootings in Austin. James is also suspected of killing his parents near San Antonio, according to CNN.
TOP said in a statement Wednesday that it was “profoundly saddened and deeply troubled by the recent tragic events involving Shane James.”
“We condemn his most recent egregious acts, full stop,” the group said.
“Through our justice program, we bailed out James in coordination with the Bexar County’s public defender’s office, nearly two years ago in February 2022 on misdemeanor charges where his bond fees totaled $300,” it said.

The non-partisan California Legislative Analyst Office just acknowledged the State of California business model has collapsed. After projecting $14 billion in deficits for the next two years in May, the LAO now projects the State of California faces $100 billion deficit over the next 18 months and $187 billion over the next four and a half years. The financial press is calling the grim alert a shocking surprise, but the New California State movement that seeks to split the state in half has been issuing similar estimates for several years. The warning signs of an existential crisis has been brewing include California unable to issue a timely audited financial statement since 2018, over 1 million residents leaving the state, and collecting lower taxes after raising tax rates. California since 2021 has burned down $97 billion of reserves to about $26 billion at the end of November, and is running $4 billion of negative cash flow per month. The liberal California Legislature also recently passed a law that limits its local school districts to holding a maximum 3% budget reserve, about 10 days of funding. The real culprit for the accelerating crisis is the end of the globalist boom that began in California 45-years ago with the Proposition 13 Tax Revolt that catapulted former Governor Ronald Reagan to the White House. President Reagan slashed the 87% capital gains tax rate to 27%, kicking off the greatest venture capital boom in history. California as the center for information technology and communications consistently received 40% of global venture capital investments. Hoping to make spectacular capital gains by taking venture companies public, investors poured about $160 billion into 7,400 mostly start-up California companies in 2021. California

is credited with driving state personal income to grow by 13.5 times since 1978. But the biggest sector to benefit from the VC boom was the State of California budget that grew 18.5 times from $18 billion to $235 billion. But the Legislative Analyst now reports that the pace of California companies going public has shriveled by over 80 percent from 2021. With corporate and personal capital gains taxes and related spending averaging about one third of California revenues, it should be no surprise California revenues are down by 25%. New California State predicts that the current California venture capital bust is already morphing into a serious recession that will further hammer state revenues. The LAO forecast assumes revenues begin to grow in 2024, but they warn a recession would eviscerate California revenue by another $30 billion per year.

This subversive Party of Chaos (with Marxist characteristics), has worked overtime for years to mindfuck Americans into destroying their own country. Just think of the absurdities you are asked to swallow daily and the punishments meted out for opposing them. It all came to an interesting inflection point lately with the three presidents of exalted universities failing spectacularly to cover their asses in congressional testimony about antisemitism on campus.
At issue was why, after years of grandstanding on the oppression of victim groups, and censoring, silencing, cancelling, and crucifying alternate opinions, they gave their students and faculty a pass in recent weeks on yelling for the extermination of Jews. Wow, did that business disorder the whole Woke cosmography! I’ll tell you why:
My people, the Jews, including a major chunk of the intellectual class, assumed leadership in the Woke crusade because the Holocaust of the 1940s established us as the world’s premier oppressed victim group. That badge of honor stuck for decades. Seventy percent of American Jews vote for the Party of Chaos, which used to be the Party of Civil Rights, which used to synonymous with truth and justice. Thus, for decades, we American Jews were able to feel marinated in virtue.
Incidentally, the reason American Jews went all in for the Civil Rights movement was because after the big war and all its horrors they felt a victory for expanded tolerance and acceptance in America — the defeat of “Jim Crow” in particular — could only be a good thing for Jews, who, by the way, had demonstrated that a former “out” group could succeed spectacularly in 20th century America if permitted to try, which suggested that other “out” groups could too, and ought to be allowed to try. For Jews, America turned out to be the promised land, and one can easily see how that rhetoric jibed so well with Martin Luther King and his followers in the 1960s.
But the Civil Rights crusade is history now and American intellectuals, Jews especially, appear to be secretly disillusioned and rather ashamed at the less than satisfactory results, such as intractable black poverty and crime. Successful American Jews have been out of their own ghettos for decades, and they have no desire to live adjacent to any black ghetto if they can help it — though they would never dare admit it. However, they flocked to and flourished in the ghetto of elite academia, where they could make a good living in the commerce of ideas, luxuriate in enhanced social status (especially at Ivy League schools), with the bonus of fabulously easy work requirements (two classes a week and then summers off, what a deal!).
Life on campus has become increasingly uncomfortable in recent years as Wokery ramped up. Lately, the demonization of all white people, including most Jews, became the order of the day to account for and expiate the disappointments of the Civil Rights program. It required considerable cognitive dissonance for American Jews, especially in higher education, to go along with the growing aggressive absurdity of Woke politics. And then their remaining illusions blew up in the fall of this year after Hamas went on its savage rampage and Israel decided to bring down the wrath of Yahweh to remind the world what never again means.
American Jews on campus — in the crucible of victimhood politics — now find themselves called out as “oppressors” and “colonizers” on the seesaw of social justice. No longer an “out” group, they are fingered as a cruel and hate-worthy “in” group of the most privileged sort. Jewish students on campus began to feel like they had targets painted on their foreheads. At some colleges, they were indeed actively harassed and menaced. And after all they’ve done, and all the money they’ve given, to assist all the other victims, have-nots, left-behinds and marginalized in this world! And finally, to see how they were sold out by those three smirking boss-girl elite college presidents at the witness table in Congress, equivocating so strenuously that it seemed to affect the oxygen content in the room. From the river to the sea. . . woe unto you!
And now, an even bigger question looms: with Wokery unraveling on campus, will it now also unravel the Party of Chaos — and its ability to act as Globalism’s fifth column undermining our country? Personally, I think it is indeed the beginning of the end of all that, especially the disgraced intellectual class of America’s ability to play along for mere social status brownie points. Perhaps we’ll all begin to discern that the next trip to be laid on the people of this land will be the final one, the Big Enchilada, the event that will truly knock the wind out of Western Civ and leave it gasping and wheezing on the floor: blowing up the banking system. When that happens, we’ll all finally know just where things stand, and then maybe we’ll all start to sing together.

Federal Jury Convicts Buxton Man for Twitter Threat
FBI recovered ammunition and AR-15-style rifle
PORTLAND, Maine: A Buxton man was found guilty today of transmitting a threatening interstate communication. The verdict came after a three-day jury trial in the U.S. District Court in Portland with Chief Judge Jon D. Levy presiding.
According to evidence presented during the trial, on September 8, 2021, Brian Dennison, 27, posted on Twitter, “I’m going to kill jews with my ar15 tomorrow.” FBI investigators identified Dennison as the likely author of the threat and executed search warrants at his Buxton residence. Among the items seized were approximately 1,700 rounds of ammunition that could be fired from an AR-15-style rifle. Investigators also found evidence that Dennison had a long-standing animus toward Jewish people. In October 2021, investigators executed another search warrant at the property and found an AR-15-style rifle and ammunition in a case that had been hidden in the woods behind the residence.
Dennison faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office. A federal district judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The FBI and U.S. Border Patrol investigated the case.

Pro-Palestinian Radicals Target Symbols of Christianity
Radical pro-Palestinian demonstrations appear to have developed a new tactic: they are targeting Christmas tree lightings across the country, and other Christian symbols, in addition to symbols of Israel and Jewish institutions.
The latest example was Friday’s protest in Los Angeles, where pro-Palestinian radicals marched from a fundraiser for President Joe Biden to an area where there are several synagogues. They sprayed anti-Israel graffiti on the walls opposite the synagogues, and also vandalized a local church.
Prior to that, pro-Palestinian activists disrupted the Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center in New York City, clashing with police. Governor Gavin Newsom was forced to move California’s Christmas tree lighting indoors due to the threat of protests. And in Michigan, pro-Palestinian protesters tried to drown out a children’s choir at a Christmas tree lighting in Ypsilanti last month.

The question is why pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel activists have targeted Christmas, and Christian symbols, in addition to their pattern of targeting Jewish institutions (which has been condemned as antisemitic). There are Palestinian Christians, and some radicals insist that Jesus, too, was Palestinian (though he was a Jew who lived in Israel before the word “Palestine” was invented).
One answer is that pro-Palestinian protests have become increasingly Islamic. At Friday’s protest in Los Angeles, for example, Muslim participants held prayers during the demonstration outside the Biden fundraiser. Christians have faced persecution from Muslims in areas run by the Palestinian Authority, such as Bethlehem, and may have been marginalized within the movement.
Many evangelical Christians are seen as pro-Israel, so that may also make churches targets of hatred, alongside synagogues.
Another answer is that the activists are simply hijacking large public gatherings to draw attention to themselves, such as the Art Basel festival in Miami this weekend. Last week, climate change activists targeted the Metropolitan Opera in New York for the same reason.
But such protests tend to backfire. Indeed, if pro-Palestinian activists wanted to gain the sympathy of the majority of Americans for their cause, there is hardly a worse way to do it than targeting popular events such as Christmas tree lightings.
The answer may be that Christmas, and churches generally, are seen as symbols of what activists feel is a dominant culture. Pro-Palestinian radical Rashid Khalidi described the Israeli communities targeted by Hamas terrorists October 7 as “suburban,” which was not true, but hints at the idea that they are somehow legitimate targets when case as symbols of capitalism, and complacency. Recall, too, that the Black Lives Matter movement targeted a church across the street from the White House in May 2020.
Christmas trees, and churches, symbolize a dominant culture that radicals hate, and that they wish to overthrow, not to persuade.

Hamas Warns It Could Kill All Hostages Unless Israel Meets Demands
A Hamas spokesman suggested Sunday that the terror organization could kill all of the presumed 137 hostages in its custody if Israel does not accede to its demands.
Abu Obeida, a familiar spokesman for Hamas who had not been seen for several weeks, released a video in which he made the threat clear.

UN Climate Karens Melt Down After COP28 Summit Ditches Fossil Fuel ‘Phase-Out’ Language

Last week, Sultan al Jaber, the president of the UN’s COP28 climate summit, insisted that there is “no science” behind calls to phase-out fossil fuels, before getting in a hilarious eco-fight with three leading women from the conference over climate change and gender.
“You’re asking for a phase-out of fossil fuel,” al-Jaber said.
“Please, help me, show me for a phase-out of fossil fuel that will allow for sustainable socio-economic development, unless you want to take the world back into caves.”
Responding to the remark, U.N. Environment Program Executive Director Inger Andersen said she lives in Kenya with solar power and clean electricity from the local utility.
“I’m not living in a cave,” she added.
“That’s all I can say.”
The remarks from al Jaber draw criticism from scientists and are in contrast with the view of Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who said at the climate summit on Friday,
“The science is clear: The 1.5C limit is only possible if we ultimately stop burning all fossil fuels. Not reduce, not abate. Phase out, with a clear timeframe.”
Fast forward to Monday, with the Financial Times reporting that a draft agreement from the summit has dropped all references to the phaseout of fossil fuels, following opposition from oil and gas-producing countries led by Saudi Arabia.
The document — which will have to be agreed by almost 200 countries at the summit in Dubai — sets out an optional range of actions that countries “could” take to cut emissions to net zero by 2050.
This includes reducing “consumption and production of fossil fuels, in a just, orderly and equitable manner so as to achieve net zero [carbon emissions] by, before, or around 2050 in keeping with the science”. -FT
The climate Karens, however, want the text to go further by committing to a phase out of fossil fuels – which any honest idiot could tell you would have extreme repercussions in terms of both energy price inflation (which of course hurts the poor the most), and the logistics of shifting developed nations onto unreliable primary energy sources.
“We have made progress, but we still have a lot to do . . . including on fossil fuel language,” said a Jaber, adding “We should not allow anything to get between the fact we have all decided to keep our focus on our north star . . . of keeping 1.5[C] in reach.”
The 1.5c target was set during the landmark 2015 Paris climate accord, as countries agreed to limit temperature increases to well below 2C and, ideally, 1.5C, as if that’s even possible, and even if it were, assumes China and India would give a rat’s ass and play ball in this completely academic exercise.
“It is our very survival that is at stake. That is why in every room our negotiators have been pushing tirelessly for decisions that align with staying under 1.5[C] degrees,” said Samoa’s minister of natural resources Toeolesulusulu Cedric Schuster, speaking on behalf of a group of small island countries vulnerable to climate change.
Marshall Islands minister of natural resources, John Silk, said the country “did not come here to sign our death warrant,” calling for a fossil fuel phaseout.
“We will not go silently to our watery graves. We will not accept an outcome that will lead to the devastation for our country.”
Watery Graves!? he told the room full of elites with beachfront homes.
Perhaps the biggest climate Karen, Al Gore, wrote a lengthy screed on X, slamming COP28 as being “on the verge of complete failure” due to the elimination of the phase-out language.

Al Gore says that people having access to information outside of mainstream media sources is a threat to “democracy” and that social media algorithms “ought to be banned.”
Yes, really.
Gore made the comments during an appearance at the Cop28 climate change hysteria conference in Dubai.
Gore whined that social media had “disrupted the balances that used to exist that made representative democracy work much better.”
The former Vice President said that functioning democracy relied on a “shared base of knowledge that serves as a basis for reasoning together collectively” but that “social media that is dominated by algorithms” upsets this balance.
According to Gore, people are being pulled down “rabbit holes” by algorithms that are “the digital equivalent of AR-15s – they ought to be banned, they really ought to be banned!”
Gore claimed, “It’s an abuse of the public forum” and that people were being sucked into echo chambers.
“If you spend too much time in the echo chamber, what’s weaponized is another form of AI, not artificial intelligence, artificial insanity! I’m serious!” he added.
Apparently, the only echo chamber that should be allowed to exist is Gore’s own rabbit hole, wherein the earth is constantly on the brink of destruction thanks to people not obeying his technocratic mandates.
Perhaps Gore is unhappy at his own misinformation being fact checked by individuals who have access to information not produced by corporate media sources that are friendly to him.
Gore infamously predicted that the north polar ice cap would be “ice free” within 5 to 7 years.
It never happened.

“Judicial system reeks with Democrat political bias against guns & more,” AmmoLand reported November 29, recounting original documentation by rights advocates at the Mom-At-Arms website showing two Illinois Supreme Court Justices who ruled on a challenge to the state’s “assault weapons” ban were enthusiastic “gun control” supporters and had received substantial political contributions from lawsuit defendant Gov. Jay Pritzker.
Corroborating those charges was another petition, one filed by State Representative Dan Caulkins with the United States Supreme Court seeking review of the Illinois court’s decision. Per a Newsweek report citing WRSP-TV, “‘The petition argues that Justices Elizabeth Rochford and Mary Kay O’Brien participated in the case despite receiving campaign contributions from those who support the ban.’ Both Justice Rochford and O’Brien received disproportionate campaign contributions, and both made a commitment to support the legislative policy of banning assault weapons.’”
Two developments have been added to the SCOTUS docket since then.
First was a “Waiver of Right to Respond,” filed on Dec. 1 by Illinois Solicitor General Jane Elinor Notz. “I DO NOT INTEND TO FILE A RESPONSE to the petition for a writ of certiorari unless one is requested by the Court,” she wrote. “I am filing this waiver on behalf of all respondents.”
Then, on Dec. 4, Caulkins and petitioners filed a “Supplemental Brief to Petition for Writ of Certiorari,” maintaining, among other things:
“Newly discovered material (by Caulkins) discloses Seven Million Three Hundred Thousand Dollars additional (to the $2.6 Million direct financial contributions in the original Petition) indirect campaign expenditures supporting the candidacies of Justices Rochford and O’Brien by a political committee backed by Defendant, Illinois Senate President Don Harmon.”
“The expenditures for the benefit of Justices Rochford and O’Brien were concealed from the public until several months after the election.”
“Neither Justice Rochford, nor Justice O’Brien, disclosed or otherwise acknowledged the All for Justice expenditures supporting their campaigns originating with one of the Defendants, including his counsel of record in this case, when issuing their Orders denying the Motion for Recusal/Disqualification.”

It’s fair to ask how, in anyone’s universe, such conduct would not be grounds for removal from the court, disbarment from the practice of law, and criminal prosecution. Here’s the ‘Jan. 6 Jurisprudence’ About to Be Unleashed on Trump

Defense attorneys have coined the term “January 6 Jurisprudence” to describe the treatment received by the more than 1,200 defendants arrested so far in connection with the events of Jan. 6, 2021. This carve-out legal system involves the unprecedented and possibly unlawful use of a corporate evidence-tampering statute; excessive prison sentences and indefinite periods of pretrial incarceration; and the designation of nonviolent offenses as federal crimes of terrorism.
A universal feature is the requirement that a Jan. 6 defendant, usually a supporter of Donald Trump, face trial in Washington, D.C., a city overwhelmingly populated by Democrats. Federal judges have denied every change of venue motion filed in Jan. 6 cases, arguing those who protested at the Capitol can get a fair trial in the nation’s capital.
The results so far appear to contradict the court’s collective conclusion. Court records show the jury selection process has repeatedly revealed a strong degree of bias against anyone tied to Jan. 6. At least 130 defendants have been convicted at trial – not one has been acquitted by a jury – and hundreds have been sentenced to prison time ranging from seven days to 22 years. Defense lawyers say this track record helps explain why the vast majority of defendants have opted for a plea deal rather than go to trial.
This is the same environment that now awaits the former president as he prepares to stand trial in Washington on March 4, 2024 for election interference, in addition to an array of criminal and civil cases against him elsewhere.
While Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team and Trump’s counsel spar over a number of issues, perhaps the biggest dispute will concern whether it will be possible to seat an impartial jury for the presumptive 2024 GOP nominee in a city that voted 92% for Joe Biden in 2020.
After Smith indicted Trump in August, a Jan. 6 defense attorney who is not representing the former president, J. Daniel Hull, told the New York Times that Washington “is the worst possible place for any Jan. 6 defendant, but especially Donald Trump, to have a trial.”
U.S. District Court Judge Tanya S. Chutkan recently set a jury selection schedule for Smith’s four-count indictment against Trump for the events of Jan. 6. She ordered both parties to begin developing a questionnaire, due Jan. 9, 2024, that hundreds of D.C. residents will be asked to complete so the court can begin the initial step of weeding out unqualified jurors.
Stakes are high for both sides. Trump’s lawyers must navigate constraints on how many jurors can be stricken from consideration to ensure their client gets a fair trial. The Department of Justice must convince the American people that a case brought by a Democratic administration and handled by a Democratic-appointed judge with a record of inflammatory statements about the former president will be heard by unbiased jurors.
The Sixth Amendment guarantees, among other rights, “the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed.” In extreme cases, criminal defendants can petition to move their trial out of the prosecuting jurisdiction for a number of reasons, not the least of which is sustained, negative press coverage that taints the jury pool.
Trump’s lawyers are not discussing their strategy publicly, but sources have indicated to RealClearInvestigations that the defense will file a change of venue motion in the next month or two. Given the partisan composition of Washington, saturation coverage of the former president’s ongoing legal woes, and the city’s relatively small population, Trump will have a strong argument in favor of moving the trial outside of the nation’s capital.
