Reader’s Links for December 9th, 2023

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  3. ABLECHILD: Ohio Whistleblower Says Schools Hiring Professionals to Push Big Pharma Drugs on Children
    by Jim H?ft Dec. 9, 2023 9:45 am0 Comments

I have been a middle school teacher for the last 24 years. I have watched young people, more often boys, be affected by the pushing of drugs for ADHD. I, myself have filled out the paperwork a thousand times sent by doctors that ask the most ridiculous questions to attempt to determine if a child should be medicated to change the chemical compounds of their brain. These children are already going through chemical changes in their bodies as they are typically of pre-pubescent/ pubescent age.

One big problem that I have noticed in the schools lately is that they have not only been adding more and more psychologists/psychiatrists to the districts but they are adding social workers to schools at all levels (elementaries to high schools). They are even giving degrees and incentivizing teachers to get added degrees in social work to bring more social workers into districts. This is such a mistake. They are trying to add an element of parental trust by using social workers because they believe these people will get parents to do what they want in terms of signing IEPs, listening to drs, starting them on meds, building trust, etc.

I sat in an IEP meeting just last week with a parent and five other school professionals (psychologist, occupational therapist, intervention specialist, speech therapist, behavioral health specialist) where the professionals were concerned that the student wasn’t able to sit in his seat and not disrupt classes. The other professionals wanted the parent to consider medications that would keep the student from fidgeting so much and would have him be less “hyper” throughout the day. The parent was very clear that they had tried medications before and that those medications had changed who their son was and that their son was happy and sweet and they did not want to make any changes to their son’s personality. He doesn’t cause problems, he doesn’t act out or get violent, all he does is take laps around the rooms or step out to get drinks of water or walk around. The parent was clear that he was not interested in medication. These professionals would not let up and continued to push the parent that high school would not be as accommodating as elementary and middle school has been.

They were trying to intimidate and scare him into considering the medication. He was very clear that he was not interested but if they keep it up over the next few years, it will be hard for him to continue to fight that kind of push. I have seen it time and time again over the years, these professionals will continue to push this parent. They will continue to send emails and progress reports detailing the distractions that this child causes in the classrooms. They will continue to tell the parents that their child is causing other students to miss out in their educational opportunities because of his behavior. This will become overwhelming and I fear the parents will give in because they trust the professionals.

  4. NYC Mayor Adams Takes Another Trip to DC to Plead for Help on Migrant Crisis: “Help is Not on its Way”
    by Margaret Flavin Dec. 9, 2023 9:15 am76 Comments

The sanctuary city of New York has been experiencing some of what border communities have faced for years as a result of Joe Biden’s broken border policy.

On Thursday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams went to Washington, DC, for the 10th time, to plead for help from Biden but admitted, “help is not on its way.”

“I did not leave with optimism,” Adams said to reporters on Friday.

“I left with the cold reality that help is not on the way in the immediate future. It is going to be, at this moment, it’s going to be up to New Yorkers and this administration to continue to navigate this challenge that we’re facing.”

In the past, slammed Biden’s border policy indirectly by claiming that the migrant crisis is ‘destroying’ the city.

After his most recent fruitless plea for help, Adams once again hinted that the blame should lay at Joe Biden’s feet.

  5. Global Embarrassment: Biden Announces “Over a Billion Three Hundred Million Trillion Three Hundred Million Dollars” Infrastructure Investment in Las Vegas (VIDEO)
    by Jim H?ft Dec. 9, 2023 8:30 am242 Comments

    Another day, another global embarrassment.

Biden departed the White House en route to Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday and ignored reporters posted up on the South Lawn.

He was dubbed as the “Walking Dead” by critics.

Biden visited the Carpenter International Training Center to announce the projects as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act passed in 2021.

In a gaffe that could have analysts adding new zeros to their spreadsheets for years to come, Joe Biden announced what would have been an impressively outlandish infrastructure investment budget on Friday.

Biden’s announcement in Las Vegas mentioned an extraordinary and perplexing figure: “over a billion, three hundred million, trillion, three hundred million dollars.” Yes, that’s many, many zeroes — too many, to be exact. Biden literally described his regime’s spending.

Biden also mocked former President Donald Trump during his talk.

  6. “Engaging in Personalities”: Rep. Summer Lee’s Curious View of Free Speech

Rep. Summer Lee (D., Pa.) has long been a voice for censorship, attacking those who seek to restore free speech on social media. Lee’s curious view of free speech was on display this week when she attacked witnesses, including Riley Gaines, as hateful and transphobic but then tried to censor Gaines when she responded to Lee’s attack as misogynistic. Lee withdrew the demand to take down the comments, though it captured the essence of how many on the left insist that they have a right to attack others but seek to censor those same individuals when they respond in kind.

In the hearing on transgender students competing in sports, Rep. Lee launched into attacks of the witnesses: “Madam Chair, I ask that while we sit through this hearing and the hateful misinformation I’m sure is coming our way, let us not forget the children at the core of this issue.”

Gaines, who achieved fame as a college athlete after racing against transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, responded to the attack. She testified:

  7. 23andMe confirms hackers stole ancestry data on 6.9 million users
    Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai@lorenzofb / 11:56 AM CST•December 4, 2023

On Friday, genetic testing company 23andMe announced that hackers accessed the personal data of 0.1% of customers, or about 14,000 individuals. The company also said that by accessing those accounts, hackers were also able to access “a significant number of files containing profile information about other users’ ancestry.” But 23andMe would not say how many “other users” were impacted by the breach that the company initially disclosed in early October.

As it turns out, there were a lot of “other users” who were victims of this data breach: 6.9 million affected individuals in total.

In an email sent to TechCrunch late on Saturday, 23andMe spokesperson Katie Watson confirmed that hackers accessed the personal information of about 5.5 million people who opted-in to 23andMe’s DNA Relatives feature, which allows customers to automatically share some of their data with others. The stolen data included the person’s name, birth year, relationship labels, the percentage of DNA shared with relatives, ancestry reports and self-reported location.

  8. We’re Starting To Find Out What’s Beneath The Thin Veneer Of Civilization That We’ve All Been Taking For Granted

    Saturday, Dec 09, 2023 – 09:30 AM

Authored by Michael Snyder via The Economic Collapse blog,

Unlike so many people around the world, those of us that live in the United States were fortunate enough to grow up in a relatively civilized society.

Unfortunately, we have turned our backs on the values that our forefathers handed down to us, and so now we are starting to find out what is beneath the thin veneer of civilization that we have all been taking for granted all these year

Our society is absolutely teeming with predators, crime rates are soaring all over the nation, millions of Americans are afraid to leave their own homes, and hordes of drug addicts are literally pooping in the middle of our streets whenever they feel like it.

In some of our largest cities, highly organized groups of criminals are constantly invading homes. Of course when these thieves encounter a homeowner that is actually armed it can result in a deadly confrontation…

A homeowner shot and killed a home invasion suspect in Los Angeles early Saturday morning while a grandmother and toddler were in the house in the fifth such crime reported in the area in the space of 10 days.

Officers were called to a home in the Granada Hills section of the San Fernando Valley, north of Beverly Hills, around 5am on Saturday after someone reported a ‘hot prowl’ – a burglary where the homeowner is present.

‘The officers’ preliminary investigation determined that approximately three to four armed males in their 20s entered the home with the intent to burglarize the location,’ according to LAPD officials.

Once upon a time, Los Angeles was such a beautiful city.

But now it is covered from one end to the other in filth, trash and drug paraphernalia.

  9. Joe Biden Meets the Gestapo
    By Warren Beatty

Last night, I watched a documentary about the Gestapo. It occurred to me that it used the same tactics as the bumbling joke that currently occupies the Bully Pulpit and his minions. I did some research to substantiate my thoughts.

    History

The Geheime Staatspolizei, abbreviated Gestapo, was the official secret police of Nazi Germany. It was created by Hermann Göring in 1933 by combining various political police agencies of Prussia into one organization. On April 20, 1934, oversight passed to Heinrich Himmler, the head of the Schutzstaffel (the SS, originally Hitler’s personal body guard), who was also appointed chief of German police by Hitler in 1936.

    Tactics

The Gestapo’s power focused upon Hitler’s political opponents through lies, atrocities, and reprisals. It often made up facts against political opponents in order to achieve its objectives. Those political opponents included people deemed dangerous to Nazi policies and politics. They could arrest and imprison anyone and always assumed that their targets were guilty. Once arrested, people found it difficult to prove their innocence.

The Gestapo crushed opposition through actions, both legal and illegal, such as fear and intimidation. It operated without any civil or criminal restraints. Propaganda, which included censoring the media, kept the majority of the population in line.

    Sound familiar?

    The Department of Justice

I begin with Attorney General Merrick Garland’s lie about DOJ investigators being nonpartisan. He said, “Justice Department prosecutors are nonpartisan. They don’t allow partisan considerations to play any role in their determinations.” To Scott Pelley’s question, “And this is not peculiar to the Trump investigations?,” Garland responded, “This is the rule for all investigations.”

The DOJ today is increasingly motivated by partisanship. The PATRIOT Act laws were designed to fight terrorism. But they have been transformed into tools by which the DOJ keeps constant tabs on law-abiding Americans and threatens to disrupt their lives if they dare act contrary to Joe Biden.

Republican lawmakers blasted Biden over the weaponization of the DOJ after it charged former president Donald Trump over his handling of classified documents. Yet it has not charged Biden after a similar investigation yielded classified documents at his Delaware home.

Wrote Danielle Wallace of Fox News, “The DOJ turned a blind eye to blatant violations of 18 US Code §1507 — the provision that prohibits people from protesting at the homes of Supreme Court justices. By not prosecuting them, the Biden administration legitimized the protests last spring.”

Barack Obama weaponized the Deep State, the massive unelected bureaucracies that represent the “big” in big government, in an effort to transform America into a socialist nation. Joe Biden has taken it one step farther by empowering the Deep State to crush his political opponents. Who could have dreamed 20 years ago that Gestapo tactics would rule the USA?

Biden has compared Americans who disagree with him to racists and terrorists. According to a report ordered by Biden, domestic political extremism is “the most urgent terrorism threat the United States faces today.” His DOJ has labeled parents as domestic terrorists if they oppose the teaching of Critical Race Theory in schools, as well as Catholics who protest at abortion facilities.

Garland delivered his most ridiculous lie when he claimed that the DOJ doesn’t prosecute many Antifa pro-life pregnancy attacks because they happen at night. Said Garland to Senator Mike Hill (R-Utah), “there are many more prosecutions [of pro-life groups]. … But that is generally because those actions are taken with photography at the time, during the daylight, and seeing the person who did it is quite easy.”

    The Federal Bureau of Investigation

The FBI uses Gestapo tactics. It has assumed vast investigatory powers and vast discretion to determine who is a political enemy of Biden and the Democrat party. These are not tactics used by constitutional republics, where the rule of law and the rights of the public reign supreme. They are the tactics of an authoritarian organization, where secret police control the populace through intimidation, fear, and official lawlessness on behalf of Biden’s sycophants. It’s the FBI that does the dirty work of ensuring compliance, keeping tabs on potential dissidents, and punishing those who dare to challenge him.

You would think the FBI would concentrate its effort to stem the tide of rising crime and violence. But no! Biden’s DOJ has focused the FBI’s attention on cracking down on “domestic terrorists,” on conservative parents concerned about their children being indoctrinated in public schools, on Republicans who questioned the validity of the 2020 presidential election, and on those who didn’t accede to COVID-19 mandates.

Drawing a card directly from the Gestapo playbook, numerous FBI agents have said that bureau leadership is pressuring agents to create domestic terrorism cases by labeling individuals as “white supremacists.” The agents say agency heads “have already determined that White supremacy is a problem” and has established a policy to prioritize racially motivated domestic extremism.

Under Biden, the FBI has become the embodiment of how power, once acquired, is easily corrupted and abused.

    The Internal Revenue Service

The Tea Party, a national grassroots movement, emerged in 2009 in cities across the U.S. to fight then-president Obama’s spending agenda and government takeover of American health care. Bureaucrats at the IRS noticed and stopped it. In 2016, three years after the IRS admitted that it gave extra scrutiny to conservative groups, it released a list of targeted organizations. Sixty groups on the list had the word “tea” in their name, 33 had “patriot,” eight referred to the Constitution, and 13 had “912,” the title of a conservative movement, in their names. Another 26 group names referred to “liberty.” The list raises questions such as how wide the IRS’s net was when it went after nonprofit groups for unusual scrutiny.

ProPublica, a progressive investigative journalism group, published in 2021 an article to “expose” how some wealthy Americans exploit the tax code to pay less in taxes. About the article, Charles Cooke of National Review wrote, “There are only a few ways in which the information ProPublica examined could have made it onto the internet. It could have been leaked by someone who works for — or with — the IRS. … Or it could have been surreptitiously released by a member of Congress or a Biden administration staffer. Whichever one of these happened, the conclusion must be the same: We cannot trust the IRS.” (Emphasis mine.)

As Betsy McCaughey of Real Clear Politics wrote, “[the IRS’s] magnified clout will be used to muzzle and punish political critics. That’s a serious blow to our freedom.”

Bottom Line: With every passing day, the Biden bunch borrows yet another tactic from the Gestapo: secret police, courts, and agencies; surveillance; lies; censorship; intimidation; harassment; entrapment; indoctrination; and indefinite detention. Biden’s weaponization of the DOJ, the FBI, and the IRS, which should be completely non-partisan and non-biased, is an assault on our civilization. The problem is, “The MSM won’t point it out!”

National Railroad Museum hosts Christmas tree sporting ‘Hail Satan’ ornaments
    By Eric Utter

In Green Bay, Wisconsin at the National Railroad Museum, the annual Festival of Trees just kicked off, and because the left ruins everything, what was once pure and wholesome is now demonic and Satanic—literally.

Every holiday season, the establishment displays dozens of uniquely decorated Christmas trees contributed by local groups, but this year’s exhibit is particularly controversial due to the inclusion of Satanic and “transgender” trees thanks to “activists.”

Adorning the transgender-themed tree are transgender flags and ornaments, with the movement’s over-used euphemisms (“Protect Trans Kids”), and was contributed by the Bay Area Council on Gender Diversity. The suddenly-ubiquitous Satanic Temple contributed a tree featuring ornaments to promote devil-worship (“Hail Satan”) and was topped with an upside-down star. It also was adorned with the ever-popular LGBTQ ornaments.

Museum CEO Jacqueline Frank stood by her decision to host the trees despite the negative reception from fuddy-duddy, stick-in-the-mud, obviously far-right event-goers. Frank stated:

  11. Follow the science? Feds mull research veto for indigenous groups, using religion as science

FOIA production shows National Science Foundation quickly discussed reviewer’s broadside against enabling “settler scientists.” Former fed warns against agencies considering “quackery” such as cautery in science policy.

The Biden administration is considering giving indigenous groups veto power over academic research while including their religious beliefs in scientific policymaking and warning scientists against “disrespecting” indigenous spirits, according to public records productions.

The ongoing document dumps from the National Science Foundation and White House Office of Science and Technology Policy were prompted by a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit spearheaded by a former Trump administration Department of Education lawyer.

Hans Bader, through his family foundation, also has ongoing FOIA suits against his former employer for how it developed a proposal that would allegedly “gut” a charter-school program and the State Department for details behind its funding of an anti-disinformation group.

Bader’s interest was piqued by OSTP’s year-ago guidance on “indigenous knowledge,” which it called an “important” contribution to “the scientific, technical, social, and economic advancements of the United States and our collective understanding of the natural world.”

The office, which leads interagency efforts to “develop and implement sound science and technology policies and budgets,” called on agencies to include indigenous knowledge “as an aspect of best available science” and said it “can be relevant to and may be used” in documents known as highly influential scientific assessments.

Indigenous knowledge includes “useful” information as well as “quackery or harmful superstition” such as cautery, Bader wrote in an essay for Liberty Unyielding on the latest production this week.

The historically Middle Eastern healing practice places a “heated metal object” on the skin to “tighten” nerves and muscles and, in Saudi Arabia, “chase malevolent spirits causing emotional or physical illness out of the body,” but leaves a “permanent scar,” according to the Encyclopedia on Religion.

The feds resisted Bader’s FOIA requests, prompting litigation this spring. Bader started posting the resulting NSF and OSTP productions in August, through the fall and again this week.

The documents reflect the reverential and highly deferential treatment of indigenous cultures, beliefs and practices by governments and academia, such as “land acknowledgements” that open events by recognizing the historic local tribal presence. The Democratic Party’s 2020 platform opens with a land acknowledgment.

Such treatment occasionally prompts academic freedom disputes, as when the University of Washington censored a professor’s syllabus for denying the campus sat on tribal land and created a “shadow section” of his course to bleed his enrollment.

UW is currently trying to dismiss the resulting First Amendment lawsuit by Stuart Reges, and House Oversight Committee Republicans brought up the case with Education Secretary Miguel Cardona last year.

Anthropologist Elizabeth Weiss settled her First Amendment lawsuit this summer alleging retaliation by San Jose State University for her vocal stance against “reburial of skeletal remains presumed to be affiliated with Native Americans.”

The settlement agreement let Weiss keep her faculty position for the 2023-2024 academic year while immediately departing for a fellowship with Heterodox Academy. The viewpoint diversity membership group also rescued her panel discussion on anthropology and biological sex when the annual North American anthropologists’ conference canceled it as transphobic.

The reverence for indigenous religion goes beyond OSTP and NSF. The U.S. Geological Survey hosted a spring webinar on “Incorporating Indigenous Knowledges into Federal Research and Management,” spotted by the Washington Free Beacon in September.

It featured Melonee Montano, the traditional ecological knowledge outreach specialist for the Great Lakes Indian Fish & Wildlife Commission and member of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

“When you ask for knowledge and you take it and use it in a way that you didn’t intend or you misuse it, you’re disrespecting” the giver, their teachers and “those spirits that may have brought that knowledge to them through a dream,” Montano said. “The damages may be unseen at times” but “can be huge and have a major ripple effect throughout time.”

NSF’s most recent production to Bader, on Nov. 30, shows the independent federal agency seriously considering a plea from a New Zealand-based grantee and reviewer two years ago to crack down on “helicopter science” by “settler scientists” in proposals and awards and join “substantial efforts worldwide to decolonize science.”

The University of Canterbury’s Michelle LaRue, who also has an appointment at the University of Minnesota, referred to a proposal she reviewed that might involve the “proposed unintentional taking of samples or data from Indigenous communities,” which her review already flagged.

She complained that another NSF-funded project published in Nature that found “black carbon increased after M?ori arrival in New Zealand,” based on Antarctic ice core samples, did not include “M?ori consultation, context, commentary, or invitation to provide guidance” even though the indigenous group discovered the continent “more than 1,000 years before Europeans.”

The failure to “adhere to ethical standards of inclusion and respect among” indigenous cultures is no less excusable than using “the wrong statistical test for your data,” LaRue said. NSF must scrutinize “proposals and research activities that involve research on Indigenous lands, involving Indigenous communities, or about Indigenous cultures.”

Thirty-two minutes later, then-program Director Karla Heidelberg shared the letter with her NSF colleagues, asking for “more guidance” before responding to LaRue, with whom she has a “good working relationship.”

NSF spokesperson Cassandra Eichner declined to comment “at this time” Friday when asked how Heidelberg, now at the University of Southern California, responded to LaRue or NSF’s broader response to her proposals.

Adopting LaRue’s proposal “could restrict scientific collection of information in the vicinity of indigenous populations, stunting the free flow of information and reducing the stock of knowledge,” Bader wrote in the essay.

He also pointed to a March 4, 2022 “Dear Tribal Leader” letter from the White House, included in an OSTP production Nov. 7, which assures recipients that “the Federal Government should engage with ITEK [indigenous traditional ecological knowledge] only through relationships with Tribal Nations and knowledge holders.”

The sentence is reproduced in an alert by the NSF-supported Arctic Research Consortium of the United States for an upcoming “public listening session” days later.

In OSTP guidance marked “Draft: For Tribal Consultation” from the same production, the office warns that “Tribes and Indigenous Peoples may possess Indigenous Knowledge that is sensitive, sacred, or belongs to certain families or clans” and asks agency heads to work to proactively address their concerns.

A footnote says “the public release of or access to specialized information or knowledge – gathered with and without informed consent – can cause irreparable harm,” quoting from the Protocols for Native American Archival Materials devised in 2006 by participants representing “fifteen Native American, First Nation, and Aboriginal communities.”

  12. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but apparently the Soviets banned the study of psychopathy?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_ponerology

Political ponerology – a political system in which psychopaths rule.

Political ponerology is a concept popularized by Polish psychiatrist Andrzej ?obaczewski.[1] ?obaczewski advocated using the fields of psychology, sociology, philosophy, and history to account for such phenomena as aggressive war, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and despotism.

Andrzej ?obaczewski and early research group

During World War II, ?obaczewski worked for the Polish Home Army, an underground Polish resistance organization. After the war, he studied at Jagiellonian University under professor of psychiatry Edward Brzezicki.[2] ?obaczewski’s class was the last to receive an education uninfluenced by Soviet ideology and censorship, after which psychiatry was restricted to Pavlovian concepts. The study of genetics and psychopathy was forbidden.[citation needed]

    Psychopathology and politics

?obaczewski adopted the term “ponerology”, which is derived from the Greek word poneros, from the branch of theology dealing with the study of evil. According to ?obaczewski, all societies fluctuate between “happy times” and “unhappy times”. During happy times the privileged classes enjoy prosperity and suppress advanced psychological knowledge of psychopathological influence in the corridors of power. Though happy, these times are not necessarily morally advanced as the privileged classes’ prosperity or happiness may be premised on the oppression or exploitation of others. To block out such inconvenient truths (the voice of conscience) the privileged use ‘conversive thinking’, which means changing the outcome of the reasoning process to a more convenient outcome. This is accompanied by a rise in egotism and emotionalism. This growing ‘hysteria’ of the privileged classes (emotionalism, egotism and conversive thinking) spreads across society over several generations. National hysteria is a natural cycle and forms a sine-wave almost 200 years long. Hysteria causes people to lose the ability to differentiate between psychologically healthy and pathological individuals. In this environment the behavior of ‘characteropaths’, or individuals with slight brain tissue damage (e.g. from toxic substances, viruses, difficult births, pathological parenting) is accepted as normal and this acts as a gateway to normalizing the behavior of those with genetic deviations, including psychopathy. Finally, near the point of maximum hysteria society becomes polarized and paralyzed and the most pathologically egotistical of all ‘spellbinders’ can come to power. The spellbinder worsens the psychological health of those under his or her influence. This may be the beginning of a ‘pathocracy’ (though not inevitable) in which individuals with biologically based psychopathology, including personality disorders (especially psychopathy) occupy positions of power and influence.

The spellbinder hides behind an ‘ideological mask’, a belief system that he uses to gain power. Any belief system can be used as an ideological mask, including religion. Psychopaths have no problems wearing personal masks or ideological masks and are accepted as normal within the spellbinder’s movement. A network of psychopaths gradually begins to dominate, and they begin to eliminate the brain-tissue damaged and those who genuinely believe in the ideology. At a certain point the minority block of psychopaths has a showdown with all those they’ve usurped.

A full blown-pathocracy is known as a totalitarian state and characterized by a government turned against its own people. A pathocracy may emerge when a society is insufficiently guarded against the typical and inevitable minority of such abnormal pathology, which ?obaczewski asserts is caused by biology or genetics. He argues that in such cases these individuals infiltrate an institution or state, prevailing moral values are perverted into their opposite, and a coded language like Orwell’s doublethink circulates into the mainstream, using paralogic and paramoralism in place of genuine logic and morality.

There are various identifiable stages of pathocracy described by ?obaczewski. Ultimately pathocracy dies because the pathological are promoted to positions of power, even though they have little or no talent or abilities.

The root of healthy social morality, according to ?obaczewski, is contained in the congenital instinctive infrastructure in the vast majority of the population, and while some in the normal population are more susceptible to pathocratic influence and become its lackeys, the majority instinctively resist. During unhappy times the intelligentsia and society at large can recover real values to resolve the new social order along mentally healthier lines.[1

(Richard: In WWII Britain and the US got around some treaty by selling the cannons to the owners of the cargo ships, and some of the Coast Artillery mounted in pill boxes on the smaller Hawaiian Islands were privately owned. The National Firearms Act of 1934 said that to own sawed off Shotguns, Short-barreled rifles, full auto weapons and Cannons required a $500 transfer tax paid on the weapons. The Gun Control Act of 1986 said that no new weapons listed above could be transferred to private ownership but that those already owned by civilians could be transferred to other civilians.

Joe Biden on Friday traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to deliver remarks on his ‘investing in America’ agenda and his so-called vision for building infrastructure.

This is the same guy who asked Congress for $7.5 billion in 2021 to install electric vehicle chargers all over the country, but two years later not one charger has been installed.

Biden’s speech was a total disaster.

Biden announced how much the new investment would cost: “over a billion, three hundred million, trillion, three hundred million dollars.”

At one point Joe Biden went off the rails and told a story about a “crotchety old son of a gun” named McCullough from 1972.

“McCullough looked at me and said, ‘I’m gonna endorse you, Biden, because you understand what we’re doing But damn boy, I’m not sure I’m doing the right thing,’” Biden said.

He also continued his war on the Second Amendment.

“The Second Amendment didn’t say you can own any gun, you can own any weapon. You couldn’t own a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed,” Biden said.

    WATCH:

The cannon argument has been repeatedly debunked.

According to historians, there is not one example of a law banning private ownership of cannons.

Biden got four Pinocchio’s by Washington Post fact-checkers for his lie about cannon ownership.

  14. North Dakota Battling Cattle Anthrax Crisis: 25 Confirmed Cases Spark Concerns
    by Anthony Scott Dec. 9, 2023 12:00 pm261 Comments

North Dakota’s Department of Agriculture has confirmed 25 cases of cattle anthrax this year, making it the most cases the state has seen since 2005.

In total, the disease has already been linked to the deaths of over 300 cattle, horses, bison, and sheep in the state, causing a financial strain for both ranchers and farmers.

Anthrax is caused by the bacteria Bacillus anthracis, which is a spore-forming bacterium that can live in the ground for decades.

In North Dakota, infected cattle have been grazing where anthrax spores have been detected in the soil.

Natural outbreaks of anthrax among livestock don’t pose a severe risk to humans unless they are handling carcass-affected livestock.

The weaponized version of anthrax, however, is highly deadly.

In 2001, shortly after the 9/11 terror attacks, a weaponized version of anthrax killed five people and caused 17 others to fall ill after they came in contact with letters containing anthrax spores.

  15. Federal Judges Drop Massive 261-Page Ruling Tearing Apart Conceal Carry Laws
by Jack Davis, The Western Journal Dec. 9, 2023 8:15 am436 Comments

A three-judge panel has blocked major parts of New York state’s anti-gun law while allowing the state to create “sensitive sites” that limit where legal gun owners can carry.

However, the panel’s 261-page decision gave its thumbs-down to the state’s attempt to bar gun owners from carrying guns into churches, synagogues and other places of worship.

The ruling noted that its decision is not likely to be the last word as litigation continues that could include appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court. The ruling notes that it was focused on a request by Gun Owners of America and other plaintiffs for a preliminary injunction to block the law, not a review of the law itself.

The law required that anyone seeking a handgun permit appear for an interview with an official to ensure that they are of good moral character. The appeals court said the requirement “is not facially unconstitutional. A reasoned denial of a carry license to a person who, if armed, would pose a danger to themselves, others, or to the public is consistent with the well-recognized historical tradition of preventing dangerous individuals from possessing weapons.”

  16. Investigation Finds 131 Percent of Eligible Voters Registered in Washington, DC
    by Mike LaChance Dec. 8, 2023 9:50 pm598 Comments

The watchdog group Judicial Watch has done a deep dive into the voter rolls of Washington, DC and some other places and found an absolute mess.

In Washington, DC, eligible voters are registered at a rate of 131%, violating standards of basic math.

It’s probably just an oversight, right? It couldn’t be a problem of fraud or anything nefarious.

    The Washington Examiner reported:

‘Dirty voter rolls’ slammed, 131% of eligible DC voters registered

Several states and the District of Columbia have been hit by an election watchdog for failing to clean up their voter rolls of the dead and ineligible.

Judicial Watch said it just finished investigating registrations and sent letters to the district, California, and Illinois warning that they are violating the National Voter Registration Act by not cleaning up the rolls.

In the case of Washington, D.C., Judicial Watch said the voting rolls revealed a much higher number than are eligible to vote.

D.C.’s total registration rate — its total number of registrations divided by the most recent census estimates of its citizen voting-age population — is greater than 131%,” said the review.

But Judicial Watch also gave credit to the district for moving quickly after receiving its letter to begin removing 103,000 names of ineligible voters. California and Illinois have promised to clean up their rolls.

According to Judicial Watch, they are already getting results on this:

  17. The Fed watcher who called the 2007 housing bubble expects interest rates to stay high for ‘much, much, much longer.’ It’s payback for the unsustainable ‘free money era’
    BYWill Daniel
Jim Grant, publisher of Grant’s Interest Rate Observer, speaks during the 19th Annual Sohn Investment Conference in New York, U.S., on Monday, May 5, 2014.

Jim Grant has been tracking the ins and outs of Federal Reserve policy and its effects on the economy and markets in his famed newsletter, Grant’s Interest Rate Observer, for over 40 years. The always bow-tied and often staunchly skeptical economic historian has made a name for himself with some pretty prophetic forecasts ahead of past financial calamities, including the Global Financial Crisis.

Now, in an interview with Fortune, Grant lays out his fears that another potential disaster is on the horizon. After roughly a decade of near-zero interest rates, he argues, the U.S. economy developed a debt problem—one likely to end badly now that higher interest rates are here to stay. The inevitable fallout from the end of the “free money era” has yet to be felt fully, Grant warns.
The ‘everything bubble’ and its consequences

To understand Grant’s worries, we have to take a step back to 2008, the year he believes Federal Reserve policy became completely illogical.

In order to help the economy recover after the GFC, the Fed held interest rates near zero and instituted a policy called quantitative easing (QE)—where it bought government bonds and mortgage-backed securities in hopes of spurring lending and investment. Together, these policies created what is now known colloquially as the ”free money” era, pumping trillions of dollars into the economy in the form of low-interest-rate debt.

Grant has long argued the Fed’s post-GFC policies helped blow up an “everything bubble” in stocks, real estate, and, well, everything. And even after equities’ rough year in 2022, real estate’s two-year slowdown, and a regional banking crisis this March, he still fears that that bubble has only partially deflated.

While the banking and commercial real estate sectors have been hit hard by rising interest rates, Grant’s biggest fear involves credit markets.

After years in which corporations (as well as consumers and governments) rapidly increased their debt loads, Grant worries many will soon be unable to keep carrying that debt. With the current high interest rates, refinancing will present a challenge, especially as the economy slows. “I think that the consequences of more or less 10 years of proverbially free money are going to play out in the credit markets,” he told Fortune.

Grant pointed to so-called “zombie companies” as one example of the issues that lenders may face. As Fortune previously reported, hundreds of companies managed to stay afloat during the free money era using cheap debt to sustain broken business models. But now, many of these firms are facing pressure as the economy slows and borrowing costs rise. That means they may not be able to repay their lenders. “It could be that the accumulation of errors in lending and an allocation of credit that were brought on by the invitation to lend indiscriminately—that is to say the 0% rate regime—was an open invitation to overdo it in credit,” Grant told Fortune, adding that “assets may face the consequences of that yet.”

Take WeWork as an example. David Trainer, the founder and CEO of the investment research firm New Constructs, warned for years that the office co-working company was masking its unprofitable business model with cheap debt during the “free money” era. Now, after a failed IPO, years of cash burn, and a rush to go public via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), WeWork has lost investors millions and gone bankrupt, forcing the company to abandon leases and leave lenders in the lurch.

“WeWork is just the first of many other unprofitable and zombie companies facing potential bankruptcy,” New Constructs’ analyst Kyle Guske wrote in a November note. “As the Fed increasingly adopts a ‘higher for longer’ mentality, the days of free and easy money appear over. We hope that the days of billions in capital being thrown at money losing businesses in hopes of duping unsuspecting retail investors are over.”

To his point, bankruptcies are already on the rise. There were 516 corporate bankruptcies through September, according to S&P Global — more than any full year dating back to 2010. And U.S. business bankruptcies rose nearly 30% from a year ago in September, federal court data shows.

A Jewish man was attacked on a Brooklyn street by a bigot who beat and robbed him and derided him as a “dirty Jew” on the first day of Hanukkah, police said Friday.

Joshua Merenfeld, 40, had stepped out of his Crown Heights home on Eastern Parkway near Albany Ave to enjoy a cigarette around 7:35 p.m. on Thursday when he was sucker punched from behind.

“I didn’t realize what was going on until the second punch. I think he was hitting me with something. Maybe it was my phone,” Merenfeld said.

The married father of five and 20-year New York City resident said he quickly went to the hospital to get stitches so that his children wouldn’t see the worst

A Jewish man was attacked inside a lower Manhattan Duane Reade store when an innocent bumping erupted into a full-blown hate crime, police said Saturday.

The Tuesday morning beating comes as antisemitic incidents across the city have skyrocketed while the Israeli-Hamas conflict in Gaza continues.

The 66-year-old victim was leaving the Duane Reade on John St. near Broadway about 9:30 a.m. when he accidentally bumped into a 40-year-old man in a purple and black North Face jacket.

“F—— Jew!” the outraged stranger said as he turned around and punched the victim in the head, cops said.

  21. Stranger Than Historical Fiction: The Haavara Agreement

“Haavara [was] a company for the transfer of Jewish property from Nazi Germany to Palestine. The Trust and Transfer Office Haavara Ltd., was established in Tel Aviv, following an agreement with the German government in August 1933, to facilitate the emigration of Jews to Palestine by allowing the transfer of their capital in the form of German export goods. The Haavara Agreement is an instance where the question of Jewish rights, Zionist needs and individual rescue were in deep tension. Jewish organizations outside of Germany had declared a boycott against German goods and hoped to delegitimate the Nazi regime. The Zionists saw this agreement as a way of attracting Jews to Palestine and thus rescuing them from the Nazi universe even if that meant cooperation with Hitler. For a time the Nazi program of making Germany Judenrein and the Zionist policy of seeking olim coincided. The amounts to be transferred were paid by prospective emigrants into the account of a Jewish trust company (PALTREU – Palestina Treuhandstelle zur Beratung deutscher Juden) in Germany and used for the purchase of goods, which the Haavara then sold in Palestine. The proceeds, in Palestine currency, were paid to the emigrants living in Palestine. The rate of exchange was adjusted from time to time by the Haavara according to the disagio, necessitated by the subsidy which the Haavara granted the Palestinian importers, to make up for the steadily deteriorating value of the Reich mark, so the German goods could compete with other imports. The ensuing disagio, borne by the emigrants, accordingly increased from 6% in 1934 to 50% in 1938. The major part of the transfer proceeds provided the 1,000 Palestine Pounds (then $4,990) necessary for a “capitalist” immigration certificate of the Mandatory administration, but also for other categories of immigration, such as Youth Aliyah, students, and artisans as well as for the transfer of public funds. The transfer weakened the boycott of German goods declared by many Jewish organizations around the world, and thus met with considerable opposition. The controversy was settled at the Zionist Congress in Lucerne (1935) which decided by a vast majority in favor of the transfer and placed the Haavara under the supervision of the Jewish Agency. The Zionists sought to attract immigrants to Palestine, most especially the affluent German Jewish immigrants and the Germans sought to get rid of their Jews, increase their exports and a propaganda victory by dividing the Jews regarding the boycott. The Haavara continued to function until World War II, in spite of vigorous attempts by the Nazi Party to stop or curtail its activities. The total transfer amounted to LP 8,100,000 (Palestine Pounds; then $40,419,000) including LP 2,600,000 (then $13,774,000) provided by the German Reichsbank in coordination with Haavara. The Haavara transfer was a major factor in making possible the immigration of approximately 60,000 German Jews to Palestine in the years 1933–1939, and together with the money invested by the immigrants themselves, in providing an incentive for the expansion of agricultural settlement and for general economic development. It also served as a model for a similar arrangement with the Czech government and the immigration of several thousand Jews on the eve of World War II.”
