Reader’s Links for December 7th, 2023

Firstly, my apologies for not being uop to date on Reader’s Links. I have beeen slammed here with much related work for this site and other related sites and projects. The good news is, one of them predicts disaster today, and with a little luck, they will be wrong, and we should know soon. The videos for the Israel march on the hill took some time, but I think was worth it. It was quite different than all the previous ones, and offered some hope to the Diaspora one may hope.

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. JUST IN: Maricopa County Republicans UNANIMOUSLY Pass Resolution Calling on Arizona Legislature Impeach Arizona’s Attorney General for Persecuting Honest Election Officials
    by Jordan Conradson Dec. 7, 2023 9:00 am12 Comments

The Maricopa County Republican Committee has unanimously adopted a resolution, calling on the Republican Controlled Arizona House and Senate to bring impeachment charges against the fraudulently elected and tyrannical Attorney General.

The Arizona Legislature reconvenes on January 8, 2024.

Recall that the 2022 election in Arizona was rigged and stolen when 60% of machines failed on election day in the state’s largest county. Trump-Endorsed Republican Arizona Attorney General Nominee Abe Hamadeh reportedly lost by 280 votes out of more than 2.5 million ballots.

Mayes is now targeting election officials who questioned her fraudulent election and are fighting for honest elections moving forward.

The Gateway Pundit recently reported that a grand jury indicted Republican Cochise County Supervisors Tom Crosby and Peggy Judd on felony charges of Interference with an Election Officer and Conspiracy — all because they wanted to ensure accuracy with a hand count audit of the stolen 2022 election before officially certifying.

  2. Nevada GOP ‘fake electors’ indicted for falsely claiming Trump won state’s 2020 election
The six Republicans are accused of falsifying records and each face two felony charges.

A Nevada grand jury has indicted the six Republicans — including the chair of the Nevada Republican Party — who falsely pledged Nevada’s electoral votes to Donald Trump following the 2020 election despite President Joe Biden’s victory in the state.

Attorney General Aaron Ford, a Democrat, announced the indictments Wednesday of state party chair Michael McDonald, national committeeman Jim DeGraffenreid, Clark County Republican Party chair Jesse Law (who announced plans to run for state Assembly on Wednesday), state party vice chair Jim Hindle III, Shawn Meehan and Eileen Rice.

In a press release, the attorney general’s office said all six individuals had been indicted on two felony charges — offering a false instrument for filing and uttering a forged instrument by submitting fraudulent documents to state and federal officials. The charges carry penalties of category C and D felonies, respectively, with punishments up to a maximum of four and five years in prison and a minimum of one year in prison. A grand jury in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County indicted the six Republicans.

“When the efforts to undermine faith in our democracy began after the 2020 election, I made it clear that I would do everything in my power to defend the institutions of our nation and our state,” Ford said in a statement. “We cannot allow attacks on democracy to go unchallenged. Today’s indictments are the product of a long and thorough investigation, and as we pursue this prosecution, I am confident that our judicial system will see justice done.”

Ford’s office had scheduled a press conference for Wednesday afternoon but postponed it because of an active shooter situation on UNLV’s campus. A spokesman for Ford declined an interview request, saying the press conference would be held later.

Rice, McDonald and Law did not immediately respond to phone calls or v

  3. (Richard: Dictator alert.)

Targeting costly meds, Biden admin asserts authority to seize certain drug patents

The decision could give the president another tool to use in his effort to lower drug prices.

The Biden administration has determined that it has the authority to seize the patents of certain high-priced medicines, a move that could open the door to a more aggressive federal campaign to slash drug prices.

The determination, which was described by three people familiar with the matter, represents the culmination of a nearly nine-month review of the government’s so-called march-in rights. Progressives have long insisted that those rights empower the administration to break the patents of pricey drugs that were developed with public funds, in an effort to create more competition and lower prices.

The administration will not endorse the widespread use of march-in rights, and is not expected to take action against any individual medicines, said the people familiar with the matter, who were granted anonymity to discuss internal decision making.

Instead, the Commerce Department on Thursday plans to issue a new framework spelling out factors that federal agencies should weigh in determining whether to take march-in action against expensive drugs or other individual products that were created with federal help. The price and availability of that product to the public are among the factors the department will recommend that agencies consider.

The department will seek public feedback on the framework, which is likely to face sharp opposition from pharmaceutical companies that argue it’s illegal for the government to seize its patents and would disincentivize the development of new drugs.

The White House declined to comment.

The administration’s decision comes as Biden officials seek fresh opportunities to lower drug prices and boost competition within the industry, and amid renewed attention on President Joe Biden’s health agenda.

The White House has scrambled to highlight Biden’s health accomplishments in recent days, after former President Donald Trump suggested he would repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act if elected in 2024.

Biden officials now plan to make a fresh push to put health care at the center of Biden’s reelection platform, rolling out proposals in the coming days that would expand on Democrats’ passage of laws capping insulin prices for Medicare recipients and allowing Medicare to negotiate the price of certain drugs. Biden has also portrayed himself as a chief antagonist of the pharmaceutical industry, casting his drug price policies as central to his administration’s battle against “Big Pharma.”

The Commerce Department and Department of Health and Human Services were already expected to issue their determination on the government’s march-in authority in the coming weeks, the people familiar with the matter said. But the announcement was accelerated in the wake of Trump’s comments, and officials are expected to cite it as evidence that Biden continues to search for new ways to lower prices.

The departments launched their review in March, after the administration rejected petitions to use march-in authorities to seize the patent for a prostate cancer drug called Xtandi.

The Xtandi decision prompted criticism from prominent progressives at the time, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who later stalled Biden’s nominee for the National Institutes of Health partly over the administration’s reluctance to use its march-in rights.

  4. SpaceX’s Starlink Clears Air Force Tests, Paving Way for Government Contracts

SpaceX’s Starlink satellite service successfully completed nine months of US military tests in the Arctic, potentially clearing the way for owner Elon Musk to deepen his ties with the Pentagon in a region of growing strategic competition.
The previously undisclosed testing found that StarLink to be a “reliable and high-performance communications system in the Arctic, including on-the-move applications,” Brian Beal, principal engineer with the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Integrated Capabilities Directorate, said in a statement to Bloomberg News.
The exercises, which ended in June, evaluated Starlink’s usefulness for the Pentagon’s needs, according to Beal. A SpaceX spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
“We tested in some very high winds and very cold temperatures,” Beal said. “That all went smoothly though. Once we got the terminals mounted securely to withstand high winds, they worked great with no issues.”
The testing suggests that Starlink has the potential to become a crucial asset in what’s becoming an increasingly important area of competition with Russia and China, which have both sought to expand their influence in the Arctic. But the region’s rough climate and remoteness limit communications through existing military satellites.
That’s where the portable Starlink terminals come in as a possible solution. The Air Force also continues to evaluate the London-based Eutelsat OneWeb, which has a few more months of Arctic testing to go, Beal said.
The potential Arctic contracts would add to a burgeoning space portfolio for SpaceX, even as Musk has become more embroiled in controversy over his management of X, endorsement of an antisemitic post and a subsequent ad boycott. Earlier Wednesday, people familiar with the matter said SpaceX has initiated discussions about selling insider shares at a price that values the closely held company at $175 billion or more.
Read more: Musk Wields Starlink in Israel to Quell Uproar Over Antisemitism
The test results allow for potential Space Force contracts with SpaceX issued by its Commercial Satcom Office. Starlink and OneWeb series “are now available for procurement,” said Beal. “We have made the results of the Arctic experiments available to many parties within the Air Force,” he said.
“This is good news,” said Leonor Tomero, a vice president at JA Green, a government relations firm, and a former Pentagon deputy assistant secretary. “We need faster and additional communication layers to strengthen strategic deterrence.”
Read more: SpaceX Tender Offer Said to Value Startup at $175 Billion-Plus
SpaceX already has 233 satellites in polar orbit, said Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer and astrophysicist at the Harvard–Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. There are more than 5,000 Starlink satellites overall.
Current SpaceX Pentagon business includes ongoing competitive National Security Space Launch contracts. Its Falcon Heavy rocket also has been approved to launch the nation’s most sensitive intelligence satellites.
It’s also providing launch services and satellites for the US Space Development Agency and a competitive one-year Space Force “task order” valued at up to $70 million for commercial services. This year, SpaceX was also awarded a Pentagon contract of still undisclosed value to provide Starlink satellite communications to the Ukraine military.

In October, Army Major General Brian Eifler, commander of the new Alaska-based 11th Airborne Division, told a conference that Musk had visited his command “to explore customized technologies” that can withstand the cold. He also lauded Starlink’s potential.
In October 2020, SpaceX hired former US Northern Command chief Terrence O’Shaughnessy, who earlier that year recommended Congress approve $130 million for “Polar Communications” experiments using “systems such as” Starlink or the OneWeb constellation.
In May 2020, while still at Northcom, O’Shaughnessy recused himself from SpaceX activities, citing employment discussions. He’s now vice president for the SpaceX’s Special Projects group.

  5. Exercise may not be the key to living longer — it might even be aging you faster
By Social Links for Adriana Diaz
    Published Dec. 6, 2023, 8:37 p.m. ET

    Survival of the fittest? Maybe.

Exercise might not be the key to longevity, according to new research — in fact, too much moving around could even be accelerating the aging process in our bodies, Scandinavian scientists have revealed.

The ambitious study on the oft-discussed subject has yet to be peer-reviewed, but recently won a national sports medicine prize in Finland, where the research was conducted over a 45-year period.

Multiple studies have previously confirmed that those who exercise more live longer and healthier lives.

This time however, researchers at the University of Jyvaskyla found that physical activity might just be a small part of the larger picture and in some cases may have negative health impacts.

To conduct the study, more than 11,000 Finnish same-sex twins were analyzed between 1975 to 2020.

Overall the study found that those who exercised the least were about 20 percent more likely to die over the 45 years than those who were regularly active. Drazen – stock.adobe.com

The participants self-reported the time and intensity of their daily physical activity and were categorized into four groups: sedentary, moderately active, active, and highly active.

Overall they found that those who exercised the least were about 20 percent more likely to die over the 45 years than those who were regularly active.

However, when they filtered for lifestyle factors including education, body mass index (BMI), smoking, and alcohol consumption that number dropped significantly.

The researchers concluded that those who exercise may not live longer because of their workouts but because they generally live healthier lives. NDABCREATIVITY – stock.adobe.com

Then those in the sedentary group were only seven percent more likely to die compared to those in the active group with “no additional benefits provided” by higher levels of exercise.

As the age-old saying goes, “Everything in moderation.”

The study showed that biological aging accelerated for those who exercised too little and too much.

Those who were the most physically active were about 1.8 years “older” than those who did a more modest amount of physical activity.

The researchers concluded that those who exercise may not live longer because of their workouts — but because they generally live healthier lives.

While the amount of time that each group was active was not immediately apparent, the World Health Organization recommends that adults aged 18 to 64 should do at least 150 to 300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity or 75–150 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity a week.

Multiple studies have previously confirmed that those who exercise more live longer and healthier lives.

  6. On Biden policy in the Middle East: A timeline tells a tale

Biden administration, Iran, Israel: Interesting times go high order.

Sometimes timelines speak louder than argument. We’ve found that on a number of occasions in the last several years, and a fresh occasion has arisen in that regard. Two events on Sunday, 26 November 2023 were end brackets for a timeline that bears at least cursory inspection, and that is our task here. It will be informative.

It will also be as brief as I can make it. I’ve already written about topics that come up in this timeline, and won’t rehash earlier findings. The links are there for additional background.

The two events on 26 November occurred within hours of each other, though I assume they weren’t related in any causative way. One was the widely reported hijacking attempt against a tanker, MT Central Park, in the Gulf of Aden. The tanker is connected to an Israeli shipping magnate whose ships have been harassed and attacked by Iran and its proxies on prior occasions. Central Park is carrying phosphoric acid (which notably is not phosphorous and not easily converted to phosphorous). It’s a substance used for a number of benign commercial purposes such as manufacturing fertilizer.

Assistance was rendered to Central Park by USS Mason (DDG-87) and a nearby Japanese destroyer. The intervention of the destroyers prompted the hijacking party to depart the tanker in haste and flee in its small boat. Mason then pursued the hijackers and detained them.

  7. Biden drops sanctions — and another war happens
    By Monica Showalter

It’s getting to be as predictable as sunrise.

Joe Biden drops sanctions on some rogue regime to get hold of its oil — and then another country gets war rained down on it, attacked and invaded.

    Anything but drill our own.

It seems to be happening for a third time during this Biden administration, this time with Guyana the victim.

The timelines for all of these incidents are remarkably precise. Start with the first one, from Europe, via CNN, dated July 21, 2021:

    WashingtonCNN —

The US announced Wednesday that it has reached a deal with Germany that would allow completion of the controversial Nord Stream 2 pipeline opposed by the Biden administration as a “malign influence project” that Russia could use to gain leverage over European allies.

“While we remain opposed to the pipeline, we reached the judgment that sanctions would not stop its construction and risked undermining a critical alliance with Germany, as well as with the EU and other European allies,” a senior State Department official said Wednesday.

The announcement is unlikely to end bitter divides over the pipeline, with US lawmakers condemning the agreement, Ukrainian officials immediately weighing in to say they are lodging diplomatic protests and even the US acknowledging their opposition to the project remains firm.
“I would just say emphatically that we still oppose Nord Stream 2, we still believe it’s a Russian geopolitical malign influence project, none of that has changed,” the senior official said.

Net beneficiary? Russia, which was subject of the opposition.

    Israel’s military goes woke?
    By Arnold Cusmariu

    An Imaginary Scenario:

Late February 1945, Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima

A familiar voice comes over the walkie-talkie as Marines look up at Old Glory fluttering in the wind, placed there earlier in the day by Cpl. Harlon Block, Pfc. Harold Keller, Pfc. Franklin Sousley, Sgt. Michael Strank, Pfc. Harold Schultz, and Pfc. Ira Hayes.

    “This is Admiral Nimitz, acknowledge.”

Lieutenant Colonel Chandler Johnson replies, “Yes, sir, acknowledged.”

Admiral Nimitz continues: “The Japanese commander on the island, General Tadamichi Kuribayashi, has contacted me to complain about the flag your men raised on Mount Suribachi, which he considers insensitive to the memory of Japanese soldiers who died. I agree with him. Let’s not rub it in. You are to take down the flag immediately. That is an order. Acknowledge.”

Ltc. Johnson replies, “Yes, sir, will do.”

The flag comes down. Joe Rosenthal never takes the famous photo, and the Marine Corps Memorial based on the photo is not dedicated in Arlington in 1954.

It is unimaginable for Admiral Nimitz or any other officer under his command to have issued such an absurd order. But these days, who knows? Joe Biden’s military is more worried about alphabet-soup sensitivities, global warming, and white supremacy than making sure war-fighting capabilities are top notch. How times have changed. Well, maybe not much longer.

    A Real Event:

Something eerily similar to the imaginary scenario described above did in fact occur in Israel after the horrific events of October 7, 2023, when some 1,400 Israeli civilians were murdered by invading Hamas terrorists. Hundreds were kidnapped and taken back to Gaza as hostages. I won’t describe the stomach-churning details, but note that we are seeing on college campuses across this country what Robyn Dolgin aptly called “atrocity denialism.”

According to a Caroline Glick video, highlighted in Andrea Widburg’s 1 December blog post, while Gaza operations were unfolding, Major General Yaron Finkelman, commander of the IDF’s Southern Command, ordered his troops to cover up graffiti they had painted on walls informing hostages they were coming to their rescue. The general was evidently more concerned with Hamas’s tender sensitivities than the safety of his own troops, who must have come under fire as they lugged cans of paint around to carry out a patently absurd order.

Let us recall that three of the six Marines who raised our flag at Iwo Jima, Sgt. Michael Strank, Cpl. Harlon Block, and Pfc. Franklin Sousley, were subsequently killed in action. Let us recall also that, ten days after the Pearl Harbor attack, commanding officers Admiral Husband E. Kimmel and Lieutenant General Walter C. Short were relieved of command.

Prime Minister Netanyahu cannot fire General Finkelman because the prime minister of Israel is not commander in chief of the Israel Defense Force. That job belongs to Lieutenant General Herzi Halevy, chief of the General Staff of the IDF and the highest-ranking military officer in the IDF. If General Halevy declines, defense minister Yoav Gallant can, and should, step in. The sooner, the better.

    • The entire west could do with a close look at the way that the ground war was waged in the Pacific as that is how ideological fanatics fight.

I had an old soldier tell me: “after Milne Bay when we found what they did to our men taken prisoners, we all decided that unless there was a dire need for intelligence we would never take prisoners. Luckily for the bleeding hearts, the Japanese almost always had no intentions of surrendering and even their wounded tried to kill us often via unpinned grenades under their bodies”.

I also talked to an Oz POW who had been taken to Japan as slave labour. They worked in a mine and slept in a quarry which was surrounded by some 60 44G drums of aviation fuel all wired together. The guards would point at them and say:”yankee come, you all burn”. All of them POWs did not even care if the US bombed them so long as they killed Japanese and this man heard the noise and saw the cloud over Nagasaki.

Those two nukes saved >18+ million lives(expected allied and Japanese casualties). Never let any fool tell you that the US should never have used them as they SAVED lives. The Japanese knew exactly where the Invasion of Japan was to occur(only 3 places possible) and all had over 60 airfields within reach and THIS time they were going for the transports NOT the warships. The Falklands war showed just how much damage that did. Every Japanese , man woman and child were ordered to fight to the death if invaded.

With saber-rattling down in Venezuela, who really benefits?
    By James Mullin

I’d like to think that what we write in these posts might actually matter. Perhaps wishful thinking, but perhaps not. In this case, I’d like to think that dragging a developing situation into full daylight might do something to prevent its fruition.

No one would deny that the world is a much more dangerous place than it was even five years ago. Ukraine, Gaza, and more have made us look to our children and grandchildren and just wonder. And the unaddressed (and even stoked) violence within the U.S. itself (ANTIFA, BLM, Chicago, Philadelphia, etc.) gives us even more pause.

Again, on the global scene, wars appear to be breaking out like wildfires. One wonders where the next will start. I’d like to direct readers’ attention to one place in particular: The unlikely north coast of South America and the tiny country of Guyana. Guyana’s much bigger neighbor, Venezuela, just held an unusual (bizarre) national vote to ask its people if it should invade its Lilliputian neighbor and make off with its oil reserves. Wait, you say. Doesn’t Venezuela have bigger reserves of its own? All true, but that didn’t stop Iraq from invading Kuwait, now did it?

    But still…

The ancient Romans had it right. Cui Bono? Who benefits? Well, certainly, Venezuela would benefit, but if you’re the communist thug, Nicolás Maduro, why mess with a good thing? With things just as they are, he could come out with his own line of Life Is Good tee shirts. He just signed a nice fat deal with Team Obama—I mean Biden—to sell his oil to the oil-rich USA. So why invade little Guyana? Why indeed? Cui Bono?

Team Biden would certainly benefit. This gives them a beautiful opportunity to look tough (and sentient) in an election year (and oh, what an election year), by—by golly—stopping that tin pot dictator Maduro in his tracks by sending U.S. Marines and sailors down south and keeping those contributions rolling into Wounded Warriors. As we saw in Wag the Dog, nothing pulls in votes quite like a manageable war. I know that Hollywood’s Wag the Dog thesis was intended to malign Republican Conservative autocrats, but hey, what can you do? Team Biden is in trouble.

The problem with the “nice little war” scenario is that it might not be little, and it definitely won’t be nice. If the U.S. does take on Venezuela, are we left to assume that Maduro’s compadres (Cuba, Nicaragua, and a few other Leftist “democracies” down there) stay idle? Mexico, anyone? We tend to reflexively think of the Mideast when we say “spiral out of control,” but escalation knows no boundaries.

In other words, even Biden can’t rely on benefitting from a war in Latin America.

And this brings me back to my original question: Cui Bono? Think hard here. Especially if you’re a Leftist troll populating our fine website and have accumulated lots of amyloid plaque from CNN/NPR overindulgence.

There is one supreme “Cui” in all this. Not CNN, but CCP !! Yes, the People’s Republic of China would very much like to see the U.S. tied down in a Western Hemisphere firestorm as it embarks on its long-awaited reunification-by-force of Taiwan.

Now, ask yourself if the folks who couldn’t manage the Afghan withdrawal can really deal with wars in four separate locations. (Hint: In WWII, with an amazingly gifted cast of characters, we barely managed two.)

So, watch developments south of the border very carefully. 2024 is coming up fast, and with it may come Barack’s long-awaited Transformation of America. And what better way to usher it in than with a really new New World Order?

    The Manufactured Ghost Gun Epidemic
Ammoland Inc. Posted on December 6, 2023 by Dan Wos

What is it with the Biden administration’s obsession for “ghost guns?” First, what are “ghost guns?” There’s actually no such thing. “Ghost guns” don’t exist. Manufacturers never created a “ghost gun” model or style of firearm. The term ghost gun is a nomenclature created by anti-2nd Amendment legislators and lobbyists to scare people who don’t know any better.
Recently, the ATF attempted to regulate unfinished frames and receivers through administrative measures. This rule was in response to a White House directive to address these so-called “ghost guns.”

Gun Owners Foundation (GOF) and Gun Owners of America (GOA) joined forces with Morehouse Enterprises, a gun shop out of North Dakota, and challenged the ATF, which was under President Joe Biden’s directive to push this new rule. Right after the lawsuit was initiated, the ATF inspected the gun shop, the first inspection Morehouse Enterprises had ever received. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Not surprisingly, the ATF reported violations to Morehouse Enterprises. In what seems like a stretch to find anything valid to punish the gun shop, the ATF found a few paperwork errors and a couple of instances of data being accidentally put in the wrong box on a NICS form. Two months later, the ATF notified Morehouse Enterprises of its intent to revoke both of the company’s FFLs. Isn’t it interesting how the government creates a cumbersome background check process fraught with any number of ways to make errors and will then capitalize when someone does?
So why are the gun grabbers so intent and hyper-focused on regulating these so-called ghost guns?

First, all they’re really talking about when they use the term “ghost guns” are guns they cannot track back to the owner’s home address. When the anti-gun radicals in our government first rolled out the term “ghost gun,” the culprit was 3-D printed guns. The public was taught to believe that everyone was printing firearms at their kitchen table and the world would be an unsafe “Wild West” unless the federal government stepped in and did something to “keep people safe.”
    SCROLL DOWN TO CONTINUE READING

The truth is families have owned non-serialized firearms since the founding of our Country. It has never been any of the Government’s business who has guns and where they are located. Ever since the ability to print gun parts, the anti-gun lobby and Democrats in Congress saw an opportunity to create a new fear campaign called the “ghost gun” and blame it on the 3-D printer. By taking advantage of this newly manufactured “3-D printed ghost gun epidemic,” they were able to fabricate legislation that would cover all unserialized firearms. They never wanted your 3-D printed parts. They want the registry that serialization legislation will afford them.
The truth is they just wanted an excuse to regulate and document every single firearm transaction. The ultimate goal? To create a gun registry where the government knows the exact location of every firearm in America.

We all know what happens after a gun registry is created. Don’t forget many states have already implemented Red Flag Laws. Red Flag Laws are the vehicle by which guns can be confiscated without due process. But before guns can be confiscated, they need to be located. Serialization is the magic GPS system to locate Firearms in America and “ghost gun” is the scary term that will raise support for the needed legislation.

  11. Teachers Quitting En Masse Due to Student Violence
    By Eric Lendrum
    December 7, 2023

All across the country, school teachers are beginning to resign due to a rising fear of violence from students, with many acts largely going unpunished by authorities.

As reported by the New York Post, student behavior has gotten progressively worse after the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic, with fights breaking out more frequently, and some altercations leading to teachers sustaining injuries in the process of trying to break up the fighting.

A study by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) in 2022 revealed that 84% of public school administrators believe the COVID pandemic drastically reduced student behavior and led to greater misbehaving. Another survey, conducted in April by EdWeek, found that 70% of teachers and other administrators believe the problem is getting worse.

“General behavior issues have become a bigger challenge in the job,” said Colin Sharkey, executive director of the Association of American Educators. “It preceded the pandemic, but it certainly accelerated because of the pandemic. It is a serious problem, and it’s threatening the number and quality of educators that we’re able to retain.”

    • So long as those leaving are all those leftist teachers brainwashing the children. But I will bet that they are not.
Another step in the dumbing down of the west.

My father said that he was caned often and that, bar once, he always thoroughly deserved it. I watched a child of ~8-10 punch his ?mother (and it hurt her) when she refused to buy him something. I would have given him a good slap had he been my son.

Good children only need to be yelled at (assuming that is uncommon) but right little b*stards need something more painful to convince them and woeful laws be damned.
      story:
A doctor always had a jar of jelly beans for well behaved children. But one little sod who spent the whole time trying to destroy the room (while his mother did nothing) when leaving, spotted them and demanded some.
The doctor said “no! you do not deserve any”.
Sweet mum grabbed the child saying “never mind darling, mummy will buy you a bigger jar of jellybeans” plus a few other comments, then threw the money at the office staff saying: “I won’t be coming back here”…she was blacklisted anyway.

10 years later he was at a co-ed high school and at the school dance he walked up to a girl and asked her for a dance and she politely refused. His response? He hit her in the face so hard he broke three of her teeth and placed her in hospital for over a week.
Naturally he was expelled and the police were involved but I never heard the result as I had left the area.

        • The doctor had a glass sphere with a beautiful figurine inside of it on his desk, theoretically well out of range of children but despite being told NOT to go near it the little mongrel climbed up, grabbed it, dropped it, chipping it while his mother was being examined. It was a gift from his then seriously ill daughter, and he took it home that night thankful that it was only chipped.

  12. BRINK OF WAR: Dictator Maduro Declares Oil-Rich Esequibo Region Part of Venezuela, Appoints Military Authority for the Area – Guyana Loses Troops in Helicopter Crash
    by Paul Serran Dec. 7, 2023 9:15 am128 Comments

The world has become a dangerous place, with as much as 55 conflicts in the world, which is a record since the Second World War, according to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.

While the US is involved in multiple military conflict all over the planet, a new, dangerous one is about to erupt a mere 2 thousand miles from Florida, in the Western Hemisphere zone of primary American influence.

There, in former British colony of Guyana, much like so many other hot-spots around the planet, the territorial dispute is predicated on the massive Oil fields discovered in its territorial waters.

A mere two days after the referendum on the disputed area of Essequibo, the Venezuelan government of socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro is moving forward, trying to enforce what was allegedly approved in the referendum.

The vote registered almost no participation in the streets, but was hailed as a ‘victory’ by the Bolivarians.

The feared rigged vote brings back a crisis of credibility in the country’s electoral authorities.

    El Pais reported:

“In a television appearance Tuesday, Maduro presented a new official map of Venezuela with Essequibo incorporated, without the disputed delimitation, during a Council of State in which he announced a series of measures and upcoming legislation to cement Caracas’ possession of the territory and its resources. Earlier, Maduro had sent a military contingent to Puerto Barima on the Venezuelan Atlantic border, close to the limits of the area under claim.

[…] Via a special law announced Tuesday, he will create a new province or state in the territory, having already appointed a single provisional authority: Major-General Alexis Rodríguez Cabello, a deputy for the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), who will operate from the mining community of Tumeremo in Bolívar state, barely 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the town of San Martín de Turumbang in the disputed area.

‘We want the peaceful rescue of the Guayana Esequiba’, said Maduro. ‘Our Guayana Esequiba has been de facto occupied by the British Empire and its heirs and they have destroyed the area’.”

Maduro instructed state oil company PDVSA to ‘draw up a map of exploration and exploitation of the resources in Essequibo’.

  13. REPORT: Here Are the People President Trump is Allegedly Considering Selecting as His Running Mate with an Interesting Twist
    by Cullen Linebarger Dec. 7, 2023 10:30 am344 Comments

As President Trump continues to dominate the 2024 GOP presidential primaries, attention has turned to who he will pick as his running mate. Now, we have a list of names Trump and his team are reportedly considering, but a potential wild card lurks.

On Thursday, Axios published an extensive piece detailing the potential makeup of a Trump Cabinet in a second term. The 45th President and his team’s primary focus is ensuring all positions in government will be filled with people loyal to the America-first agenda and Trump.

As Gateway Pundit readers know, Trump’s first term was marred by disloyal RINOs and globalists seeking to sabotage him at every turn. John Bolton, Mark Esper, and William Barr were some of the most notorious figures.

Axios also reveals that Trump openly speaks to his friends about several possibilities for running mate. The key consideration outlined by Trump and his closest confidants is agreeing that the 2020 Presidential election was stolen and former Vice-President Mike Pence betrayed the country by allowing the election’s certification.

According to Axios, here are the four individuals under the most serious discussion by Trump and most trusted advisers:

** Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) – Axios notes he might prefer to remain in the U.S. Senate.

** Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as the White House Press Secretary from 2017 to 2019.

** Former TV anchor and current 2024 Arizona GOP Senate Candidate Kari Lake

** South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem

The outlet also notes Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) desires the running mate position.

Trump and his team have also mentioned Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

But in an interesting twist, former First Lady Melania Trump is pushing for her husband to select former Fox News host and X/Twitter star Tucker Carlson. Moreover, she would reportedly be willing to campaign cross-country for the ticket.

    From Axios:

But here’s an interesting twist: Melania Trump is an advocate for picking the booted Fox News star. She thinks Carlson would make a powerful onstage extension of her husband, a source close to Trump told us. The former first lady has made few campaign appearances this time, but a Trump-Carlson ticket might encourage her to hit the trail.

The Gateway Pundit reported last month that Trump explained during an interview with conservative radio host Clay Travis why he would consider Tucker as his running mate.

“I like Tucker A LOT,” Trump said. “He’s got great common sense. We want to have safe borders, we want to have a wall because walls work.

Trump’s team subscribes to the conventional wisdom that the ultimate MAGA ticket will not happen because they assume Trump would never pick someone who could potentially outshine him. But Trump and Tucker love America deeply and talk frequently.

Considering Trump is poised to wrap up the GOP nomination in short order, his sidekick will likely be unveiled during the first months of 2024. It’s safe to say he has plenty of great choices.

  14. One in four who had Pfizer Covid jabs experienced unintended immune response

More than a quarter of people injected with mRNA Covid jabs suffered an unintended immune response created by a glitch in the way the vaccine was read by the body, a study has found.

No adverse effects were created by the error, data show, but Cambridge scientists found such vaccines were not perfect and sometimes led to nonsense proteins being made instead of the desired Covid “spike”, which mimics infection and leads to antibody production.

mRNA jabs, such as the ones created by Moderna and Pfizer, use a string of genetic material to tell the body to create a specific protein that safely imitates an infection.

Research in the field, spanning decades, had been slow work. It often stalled because RNA itself is often attacked by the body as a foreign invader.

But in 2023, the Nobel Prize for Medicine went to the pair of scientists who had spent years working to fix the problem. It was done by taking one of the RNA bases, uridine, and swapping in a very similar synthetic alternative.

This breakthrough allowed scientists to create proteins in the body without the immune system attacking the jab.

UN chief Guterres invokes Article 99 of charter over Gaza crisis

UN chief Guterres invokes Article 99 of charter over Gaza crisis

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Wednesday invoked Article 99 of the U.N. charter for the first time, citing a “severe risk of collapse of the humanitarian system in Gaza,” as the war rages on between Israel and the militant group Hamas.

In a letter to José Javier De la Gasca Lopez Domínguez, the current U.N. Security Council president, Guterres said he expects “public order to completely break down due to desperate conditions, rendering even limited humanitarian assistance impossible.”

The invocation of Article 99 allows the U.N. secretary-general to bring the attention of the security council to “any matter which in his opinion may threaten the maintenance of international peace and security,” per the U.N.

Guterres warned of an “even worse” situation unfolding in the besieged territory, including epidemic diseases and an increase in pressure to send displaced civilians to surrounding countries.

The letter marks a rare and significant move by the U.N. chief, who has repeatedly called for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas amidst the rising death toll and destruction of Gaza, which has been controlled by Hamas since 2007.

The war has now raged for nearly two months, with a weeklong pause, since Hamas launched a surprise assault into southern Israel on Oct. 7 that killed more than 1,200 people, including hundreds of civilians.

Israel has hammered Gaza in response as part of its pledge to destroy the group and its military capabilities. The death toll in Gaza has risen to more than 16,000 people, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza.

Israel’s siege on basic necessities including food, water and fuel further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the territory.

While a weeklong truce last month allowed aid to enter the territory, fighting resumed last week, and Guterres said the current conditions make it “impossible” for humanitarian operations to be effectively conducted.

“While delivery of supplies through Rafah continues, quantities are insufficient and have dropped since the pause came to an end. We are simply unable to reach those in need inside Gaza,” Guterres wrote.

Guterres called on the Security Council to “press to avert a humanitarian catastrophe” and reiterated his “urgent appeal for a humanitarian cease-fire to allow the means of survival” to be restored and the safe and timely delivery of aid to Gaza.

    • When I used to go to Venezuela in the 1990s, all maps I saw of the region showed British Guyana as just stripes with the words, “Zona de reclamation” written across it.

Venezuela has been intending to take Guyana for a long, long time.

Big Car Data: Insurance insider warns they want to force you into an EV, ban insurance for petrol cars, and track you
    Data wave, Big brother
    By Jo Nova

Insurance companies just want to save the world right?
An anonymous insurance insider warns the plan is to force people to buy a digital car, and claims the push is so strong we won’t even be able to get insurance for a combustion engine vehicle. It sounds like a conspiracy theory except that insurers themselves admit Big Data from cars is worth a fortune, and they’ve have been lobbying to get your car data out of the hands of the car manufacturers (purely for your own good), and they’re already “involved in negotiations with the European digitalization and data protection manager”. Righto. Just six weeks ago, a Managing Director of Allianz insurance said he wants to track your car data so he can be “your invisible Guardian Angel.” Creepy, yes?

Wouldn’t you love to have your insurer, the police and the IRS as your back seat drivers?

Imagine a world in which the insurer acts as an invisible guardian angel to drivers, warning them of upcoming weather hazards or accident hotspots to avoid.

    — Christoph Lauterwasser
Managing Director, Allianz Center for Technology
According to GeoffBuysCars an insider at a large European insurance company has spilled the beans. Being a car lover himself, the insider wants to warn the world that the plans are well advanced. The insurance giants want to collect all your data as you drive so they can adjust the premiums accordingly and instantly. If you drive a bit too fast, it’ll cost you (especially when 20-mile-an-hour-zones spread to everywhere). Your EV will report your offenses to the police and the insurance company. How good with that be?

GeoffBuysCars has translated the insider report “doing the rounds of Europe” into English (hear him below). I’ve searched for any news reports or confirmation and of course, found almost nothing at all about the insider. But a story from Allianz on October 17th suggests he’s right on the money.

It’s a new era of Big Data from cars:
Allianz seem awfully very excited about the tidal wave of big car data that is about to arrive, which they warn was being “monopolized” and “hoarded” (just not by them). Luckily for us, they lobbied the EU and now there’s a new law. Insurers are salivating at the thought of getting their hands on this data, and Big Bankers, and Big Bureaucrats are hardly going to stand in their way are they? They want that data too:

Doorway to a new era in automotive insurance (Allianz, Oct 17, 2023)
As the world in which we live becomes increasingly digital, every day, more and more data is being generated, monitored and analyzed. It’s also being transferred and monetized, and in some cases, monopolized. The power and insights that can be drawn from data is not lost on corporations and industry players, and while data can improve the competitive position of those with access, the hoarding of it can stifle competition and progress.

Connected vehicles already churn out several terabytes of data per day, but this is nothing compared to what’s to come – an estimated 30 terabytes of data per day by 20251. This is the data equivalent of over 7,000 high-definition movies2! In today’s cars, hundreds of high-tech sensors record everything from driving behavior to fuel consumption and seatbelt status.

…a coalition of parties including insurers, leasing companies, and repair shops have been lobbying the European Commission to intervene when it comes to accessing valuable vehicle data.

    Data wave, Big brother

All the terabytes of car data was owned and “hoarded” by the car manufacturers like VW and Volvo but the new EU Data Act “gives that back to the car owner”. Which all sounds good, but wait half a nanosecond for the insurance companies and government agencies who will “offer discounts” to people who sign away their data so they can be spied on legally. Obviously the skiing billionaires at Davos won’t need the discount, so only the riff raff and the poor will be tracked every second of their driving day.

..the new EU Data Act will be a game changer, putting car owners back in the driver’s seat when it comes to who accesses their vehicles’ data. “This move is an important first step in order to enhance data sharing and competition, and for us as insurers to be able to implement new and improved products, claims processes, and effective prevention measures for our customers,” says Christoph Lauterwasser, Managing Director of the Allianz Center for Technology.

“We are about to enter a new era in the world of automotive insurance and solutions, thanks to the power of data from connected cars.”

Imagine being able to sell that data? Say, the insurers give you the discount and collect the bytes and then the tyre guys, the media, the phone companies, the police, the FBI, the shopping centres, the electricity companies and the CCP are happy to pay…

The Government will of course, just offer you a discount on your registration if you agree to be tracked.

“I worked in the IT department of a very large insurer…”
Hear his words. They are already setting this up… it will be connected to police, insurance and national security agencies…. in cooperation with Google and Microsoft.

Since the Luton airport fires, my favourite car commentator is GeoffBuysCars. This is a depressing story, but forewarned is forearmed. Get the word out so we can cut them off at the pass…

    …

    Partial transcript cobbled together —
A mix of the anonymous insider and Geoff’s interjections:

I work in the IT department of a very large renowned insurance company headquartered in Germany. Unfortunately when I tell my circle of friends and relatives about my projects, they dismiss as conspiracy theory. Many people don’t see or understand what will happen to us with this great digitalization Revolution especially the possible dangers or misuse. Here is a small excerpt of the pilot projects that we are working on… the digitized car pilot projects which are already underway in the next 10 years.
It will no longer be possible to insure old cars. You’ll be forced to buy a digital car.
Obviously [says Geoff] we know that electric cars are all connected you can no longer have a simple charger. Your charger has to be smart so the charger knows how much you’re charging … and I and many others have been saying that it’s a red flag that you have to use an app on your phone to charge your car.]
Big-brother, police, surveillance.… these cars are online 24/7 and in real time in touch with the insurance and traffic authorities for remote surveillance and surveillance of the authorities and that’s no joke. Depending on your driving style the time and the speed the type of driver, your insurance premium will automatically adjust (i.e. if you drive too fast or are too risky you will not only pay a fine to the magistrate but your insurance premium automatically increase). So let’s say you register your car to drive at night you’re a nighttime worker you get a higher premium and your car automatically knows that and feeds it back to the insurance company …

With the coming technological advances, digital ID and digital currency, we will be able to check the liquidity in real time via interfaces with banks and credit institutions as well as the tax circumstances of each customer.
They will have the power to stop any cars carrying “politically exposed people”. What could possibly go wrong?
… also planned and already scheduled as a pilot project for 2025 in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of defense and National Security — if a vehicle is registered to a politically exposed person and there is a suspected case … this person will no longer be able to start their vehicle. (It’s Minority Report). The car will be deactivated via remote monitoring. This applies to all private vehicles in which the politically exposed person sits, except officially registered ones, i.e. police cars. They’re talking about an RFID tag on your driving license that would stop you from even getting in anybody else’s car. A powerful RFID chip will be built into these digital ID cards. This enables a close coupling of 10 m but monitoring and localization with an accuracy of approximately 1,000 meters. This is of particular interest to the insurance company because in the event of damage we can more easily locate the people and acts of damage and crimes and those involved…
…hang on [says Geoff], so when the insurance companies present this to us — when the powers that be say… so if you have a crash we can find the people that did it and all the Karens will say that sounds like a great idea…
…we’re already involved in negotiations with the European digitalization and data protection managers to also be able to access this data in more detail. All justified under the name of “Security”.

They already know the flaws of batteries, and plan to use them as an excuse to collect taxes (after everyone has bought one):
In coming years owners of EVs will be forced to pay a battery tax instead of an engine tax, because batteries pose an increased risk of fire and are harmful to the environment…
Worse, some people will be able to afford safer driving software:
If you pay for better insurance, you’ll get a “higher level of autopilot”.
It would be a shame if you were a political dissident and your software had a bug, eh?
