Reader’s Links for October 22nd, 2023

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

For those interested, please check out https://vladtepesblog.substack.com/ as an another avenue of expression.

  1. In a nearly empty parliament, the voices of the people were HEARD!!

One leader spoke out about excess deaths since the vax.

According to one there, the police kept many people out of the gallery, who wanted to be there.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0OYV8VwaRY

I just clapped and yes, a tear of pride was shed for this moment of the people.

I hope more people will be heard.

I hope we’ll hear more from the people… and the politicians in our country.

    • This shows the terrorists do not distinguish between Jews that support them and Jews that don’t: this woman was a democrat who worked for Elisa Slotkin and Dana Nessel and headed a shul that believed in “diversity and inclusion”….

      • An extremely important point. It shows that there is not a rational metric being used by Muslims. This is about Jew hatred as it was with the Nazis.

They put people to the gas and the bullet and the oddly exhaustless truck who had won Iron Cross medals fighting for Germany in WW1. So it wasn’t about who they were as individuals.

Like all collectivists, the Nazis and Muslims think in terms of groups.

        • I just read she had a group, a Muslim- Jewish group (…) that was supposed to let them get to know each other. Unfortunately, she did not get to know the muzzies and the contents of their books.

  2. “Where are they?” my daughter asked.
“I don’t know. They should be here by now,” I answered. She looked out the car window, squinting to see if the sky was moving in the distance. It was Snow goose time of the year. We had come to see them where they stop to rest on their migration route. Thousands and thousands of them.
“But you said that three weeks ago,” she said.
“I know. They should be here by now,” I repeated. “Maybe it has something to do with the weather. There’s probably a bunch of variables we don’t know about that affect their movement. Maybe Trudeau wants to see their vaxx papers before they cross into the States.”
“Or maybe they’re still shopping for winter clothes. Boots and gloves.”

We sat for a while more scanning the sky. It was so quiet among the corn fields, south of the city. When they come they’re very loud. “It’s ok, dad,” she said. “You can’t predict the timing of some things. Let’s go.” We would check back in a week or two.

Jim Sinclair recently passed away. His nickname was Mr. Gold. He is someone I have followed for some years. I recently learned he changed his name early to try to avoid anti-Semitism. He got rich predicting events that others laughed at. I have one friend who has almost lost faith in precious metals, and is tired of hearing people talk their book. My friend is not alone. People will only stand so long in a corn field looking for stupid Snow geese. They start to believe they are waiting for Godot.

Time can ripen truth, or give it sharper definition than it has in the present when the present is too noisy. Sometimes it’s best to look back at how things were a few years before to better understand where we are today. It’s like looking at a painting on the art gallery wall with your nose touching the canvas. You can’t even see the frame. Take a few steps back, though, and voilá.

Sinclair can be forgiven for not having time in a bottle. So can bird watchers. The only guys who can put time in a bottle are the guys who engineer future profits through reflexivity.

Take heed. Sinclair knew what he was talking about. By all accounts he was generous with his time and knowledge. From eight years ago. It means more now.

  3. Now listen to what he says from three years ago. Just listen to the first four minutes if you don’t want more. See, most people don’t know what was going on in the markets just before the plandemic. Coincidence? I don’t believe in them. Especially not when the bankers are up shit creek.

  4. Obama-Appointed Judge Halts Tennessee City Ordinance Banning Drag Shows From Public Spaces

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Waverly Crenshaw Jr., appointed by Barack Obama, has halted a Murfreesboro, Tennessee ordinance barring drag shows from taking place in public spaces.
The judge’s decision clears the way for drag shows at the Pride Festival in Murfreesboro next weekend.

The decision comes after the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee filed a lawsuit on behalf of the Tennessee Equality Project (TEP), founder and host of the annual BoroPride Festival.

In 2022, conservatives pointed to the festival’s drag show sexualizing children, but the organizers argued that the performer was “fully clothed.”

“We are relieved that the court has taken action to ensure that Murfreesboro’s discriminatory ordinance will not be enforced during

The family of a murdered Texas teenager physically attacked the suspect inside a San Antonio courtroom after he made a “gesture” at them.
Victor Nathaneal Rivas, 18, is accused of murdering 15-year-old Ethan Soto in May 2022.

As tension continues to grow in Israel and Gaza, a North Texas gun salesman reports gun sales are reaching an all-time high at several of his locations.

According to WFAA, David Prince at Eagle Gun Range in Farmers Branch and Lewisville said there was a 300% increase in gun sales at both locations immediately following the recent attack in Israel. He said that lately, the clientele consists mainly of Jewish individuals. One customer, Jake, told Prince he visited the Farmers Branch facility to grow his skills at the shooting range, in fear of being attacked for practicing his religion.

“It’s been a really big change this last three or four days,” Prince told WFAA. “The people coming in and saying they are scared for their lives, because of their religion they are expecting to be attacked.”

  8. The Trump Gag Order Should Be Struck Down

Below is my column in The Hill on the imposition of a gag order on former President Donald Trump by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan. Despite my long-standing criticism of Trump’s personal attacks on judges and critics, this gag order should be curtailed or struck down on appeal. While the odds tend to favor the lower court in such orders, there is ample reason to object to the scope and language of the order. The ill-defined bar on criticizing the prosecution or witnesses (including one of Trump’s opponents in this election) raises serious free speech concerns. It is also unlikely to have any appreciable impact on the heated public debate over this and other prosecutions of the presidential candidate. Much of this campaign will focus on the alleged weaponization of the criminal justice system. While Trump is still allowed to criticize the case generally, the vague order cuts too deeply into his right to criticize the prosecutor, the judge, and witnesses in the case in this election.

  11. This is raunchy humor, but becomes offensive when you realize that it has to be one-sided in choosong which religon to lampoon.

There’s a man posing as a nun in my convent or there’s a man posing as a woman in my harem or there’s a man posing as a woman in the seminary (girl’s yeshiva)?

    • Actually I didn’t think it was funny which is the real sin. It wouldn’t have been worth it, in fact I was about to close the tab when the reveal happened and as I happen to be a fan, it was worth it for that 🙂

  12. WORLD WAR 3 WATCH: Israel Warns to Cut Off ‘the Head of the Snake’ — Threatens to Wipe Iran and Lebanon Off the Face of the Earth
    By Jim H?ft Oct. 22, 2023 3:40 pm260 Comments

In a stern warning, Israel threatened to cut off “the head of the snake” and launch a military attack against Iran if the Tehran-backed Hezbollah joins the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

In a no-holds-barred interview with the Daily Mail on Sunday, Israel’s Minister of Economy, Nir Barkat, said that Iran and Lebanon would be “wiped off the face of the earth” if Hezbollah, operating from Lebanon, joins the war against Israel.

In a bid to deter Iran from further intrusion, Barkat explicitly stated that Israel would not only “eliminate Hezbollah” if a ‘northern front’ is initiated but would also target Iran directly.

“The plan of Iran is to attack Israel on all fronts. If we find they intend to target Israel, we will not just retaliate to those fronts, but we will go to the head of the snake, which is Iran,” Barkat said.

  13. Bidenomics: Americans Falling Behind on Auto Payments at Record Rate, Mass Repossessions Looming
By Jack Davis, The Western Journal Oct. 22, 2023 4:20 pm238 Comments

A new snapshot of the struggles of American consumers to keep up with their bills comes from data showing a rise in vehicle owners having trouble making their payments on time.

The rate of subprime interest rate borrowers who are behind 60 days or more on their payments hit 6.11 percent in September, according to Bloomberg.

That’s the highest share who can’t make ends meet since 1994, and up from the 5.93 percent rate at the start of this year.

“The subprime borrower is getting squeezed. They can often be a first line of where we start to see the negative effects of macroeconomic headwinds,” Margaret Rowe, senior director at Fitch, said.

  15. Not safe anywhere now’: American Jews are flocking to gun training classes
“We can’t put down the phone without picking up the next one,” said a rabbi in Los Angeles who runs a nonprofit group that offers firearm training to the Jewish community.

Henya Chein has always been terrified of guns. The Orthodox Jewish artist and mother of two felt uneasy about her husband’s decision to buy a handgun after they moved to Florida from New York last year.

“I would just block it out of my mind that it’s in the house,” Chein, 26, said.

But after watching the events unfold in Israel, she’s taken steps she never imagined herself ever taking. Chein attended a gun safety seminar at her synagogue last week followed by a one-on-one session at a local shooting range.

“Even at the range, I just wanted to drop the gun and run back home,” Chein said. “I was so scared, and I’m terrified of it.”

But she said she felt “forced to do it because Jewish people are not safe anywhere now.”

The deadly terrorist attack in Israel and the torrent of social media threats that followed have forced many American Jews to reconsider their long held stances against owning or using guns.

Firearm instructors and Jewish security groups across the country say they have been flooded with new clientele since Hamas assaulted Israel on Oct. 7. And gun shop owners in Florida say they have seen more Jews purchase firearms in recent weeks than ever before.

“We’ve definitely seen a tremendous increase in religious Jewish people, Orthodox people, purchasing firearms,” said David Kowalsky, who owns Florida Gun Store in the town of Hollywood, and also offers firearms training classes. “I’ve seen a surge in interest in individual training as well as group training.”

“These are mothers, teachers, the majority of them are mostly people who have never interacted with firearms or thought about owning them,” Kowalsky said. “There’s a safety concern. I think people are nervous about what’s going on and what can happen.”

Rabbi Yossi Eilfort runs Magen Am, a nonprofit in Los Angeles that provides self-defense classes and firearm training to the Jewish community. He said they’ve received more than 600 calls in the last week.

It is not uncommon for targeted groups to seek out self-defense measures after public attacks or threats.

Some American Jews said they had first become interested in gun ownership after a 2018 shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue killed 11 people. A 2022 study from the University of Michigan found that Asian Americans who experienced racism during the pandemic were more likely to acquire firearms and ammunition for self-defense.

But in many Jewish communities, gun ownership is a taboo subject.

“The majority of Jews in the country historically have been liberal on the left, pro-gun reform, pro-gun control, opposed to personal gun ownership,” said Hank Sheinkopf, a veteran New York-based political strategist who is also an Orthodox rabbi. “Jews with guns were always seen as an odd event.”

But now, Sheinkopf added, it seems the long held view — of the U.S. being the “one place in the world where Jews are safe — is coming to an end.”

Pro-Hamas extremists and neo-Nazis have inundated social media platforms with calls for attacks on Jewish communities and other targets in the U.S. and Europe, prompting U.S. law enforcement agencies to step up their readiness postures, NBC News reported last week. And there have been a smattering of hate crime incidents against Jews in the U.S., including an assault recently of a woman while she was standing on a busy New York City subway platform.

Muslim Americans have also been targeted in recent weeks. In the most high-profile case, a 6-year-old Palestinian American boy was stabbed to death in his Illinois home in what police described as an anti-Muslim hate crime; his landlord has been charged with murder in the attack.

NBC News spoke with more than a dozen Jewish Americans across the country who sought out gun ownership or formal gun training for the first time in response to the Israel-Gaza conflict. Many said they did not feel comfortable publicly sharing their identities out of fear they might be targeted. At least two people said they had received antisemitic death threats on social media.

Some also said they feared backlash from people in their communities who may be less receptive to gun ownership.

Endi Tennenhaus, a preschool director and mother of seven living in Hollywood, Florida, helped organize a gun safety training for women at her synagogue this past week. Her husband, who is the synagogue’s rabbi, had already organized a men’s group to go to a shooting range.

“I said, ‘What about the women? I’m sure some of the women would love to do that as well,’” recalled Tennenhaus, 41. “If all of our husbands are buying guns, we want to make sure we also know how to use them and also to be able to protect our children and be able to keep guns safe in our homes.”

She said 25 to 30 women attended the introductory class, and a shooting range session is scheduled for next week.

A 41-year-old Jewish woman living in Miami Beach said she is pro-gun control and had no desire to use a firearm. But she signed up for gun training sessions after receiving death threats from unknown accounts on Instagram, where she had previously posted about being Jewish.

The woman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity out of fear for her family’s safety, said the threats contained graphic images of dead bodies.

“It’s not like ‘Hey, I’m proud and happy and want to do this,’” she said of her choice to take firearms training. “I have no choice. It’s a very sad thing.”

Daniel Lombard, a Chicago police officer who also runs DAVAD Civilian Defense, a firearms training company, said he has seen a massive uptick in interest from local Jewish communities.

“We are definitely going to be adding classes. There’s no doubt about it,” Lombard said.

Eilon Even-Esh, a Marine veteran living in Florida, has hosted a series of emergency safety and gun training sessions for the Jewish community in his county over the past week. He said the calls have been nonstop and the majority of participants are first-time gun users.

“Some are concerned, and some are angry,” said Even-Esh.

On Monday, he hosted a hastily arranged, late night personal safety training at a local synagogue, which lasted from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

“These are regular people that want to feel safe,” he said.

  16. US renews warning it will defend Philippines after incidents with Chinese vessels in South China Sea
    JIM GOMEZ and SIMINA MISTREANU

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — The United States renewed a warning Monday that it would defend the Philippines in case of an armed attack under a 1951 treaty, after Chinese ships blocked and collided with two Filipino vessels off a contested shoal in the South China Sea.

Philippine diplomats summoned a Chinese Embassy official in Manila on Monday for a strongly worded protest following Sunday’s collisions off Second Thomas Shoal. No injuries were reported but the encounters damaged a Philippine coast guard ship and a wooden-hulled supply boat operated by navy personnel, officials said.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called an emergency meeting with the defense secretary and other top military and security officials to discuss the latest hostilities in the disputed waters. The Philippines and other neighbors of China have resisted Beijing’s sweeping territorial claims over virtually the entire South China Sea, and some, like Manila, have sought U.S. military support as incidents multiply.
