Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. I am posting this a second time.

    For over 50 years the legal framework has been quietly changing around the world to advantage secured creditors should a credit event take place.

    If you purchased a car and are making payments on it, for example, and there is a credit event that forces the dealership into bankruptcy, your vehicle can be confiscated to make whole secured creditors of that dealership. It matters not that you never missed a monthly payment. A similar setup is in effect for stocks, bonds and real estate. Secured creditors advantaged by confiscatory laws written by Federal Reserve lawyers have quietly changed the nature of security ownership.

    The result is that all collateral is in play when it comes to a worldwide credit event. International law has been altered to erase any national laws that previously provided safe harbour for investors. Suddenly, this internationalization of debt responsibility provides us the “Scwabian” angle to “owning nothing”.

    Don’t bother trying to wrap your mind around the local dynamic of your finances. This framework is global. There is a good likelihood that any mortgage you have, or other form of debt, has been financialized by the shadow banking industry to incorporate your real assets. This unfathomably-gigantic derivatives market includes strata upon strata of ever-higher ownership.

    The hypothecation and rehypothecation of collateral (real assets on which the original loan was made) means that collateral has been sold and resold many times. The result is that when, not if, there is a credit crisis the bones of the bird that is all real things of value, will be picked completely clean by the Alpha bankers and their friends. They have positioned themselves as the only secured creditors.

    I have looked at this as skeptically as I can, and it still makes sense to me. I have cited before the 2013 law buried in the autumn budget tabled by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper that enabled the bail-in of depositor assets to make insolvent banks whole. Preposterous, said my wise old accountant at the time. Yes but there it is, said I. He had no comeback.

    Reading Rainbow’s LeVar Burton has signed a letter with 175 other artists denouncing efforts to block children’s access to sexually explicit books as “white supremacy.”
    Other signatories of the letter include the usual suspects, such as Bravo’s Andy Cohen, Alyssa Milano, Ariana Grande, Bill Nye, Chelsea Handler, Judd Apatow, Judy Blume, Mark Ruffalo, Zooey Deschanel, and Ron Perlman.

    The campaign is being run by far-left organization MoveOn.

    “Far-right politicians like Ron DeSantis are championing draconian laws to ban books and the teaching of accurate multicultural American history in favor of upholding a homophobic, transphobic, and white supremacist vision of our nation,” the group’s website states.

    The letter states, “This restrictive behavior is not just antithetical to free speech and expression but has a chilling effect on the broader creative field. The government cannot and should not create any interference or dictate what people can produce, write, generate, read, listen to, or consume.”

    Pennsylvania state legislators’ salaries cost at least $25.3 million per year for only about 50 days of session, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

    According to the Inquirer, Pennsylvania has the largest full-time legislature in the country with 253 members of the state House and Senate. This is substantially more than states with similar populations, like Illinois, which only has 177 legislators.

    They are also some of the best-paid legislators, with all members making at least $100,000 per year. Only two other states, California and New York, pay their legislators over $100,000 per year. New York and California both have a higher cost of living.

  12. Lawyers for former President Donald Trump are slamming prosecutors’ request for a narrow gag order in his 2020 election subversion case in Washington, calling it an effort to “unconstitutionally silence” his political speech.

    In court papers filed late Monday, attorneys for Trump urged U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan to deny the proposal to bar the Republican ex-president from making inflammatory and intimidating comments about witnesses, lawyers and other people involved in the criminal case.

    Trump’s attorneys call the request a “desperate effort at censorship” that would prevent him from telling his side of the story on the campaign trial as he runs to retake the White House in 2024.

    The prosecution may not like President’s Trump’s entirely valid criticisms, but neither it nor this Court are the filter for what the public may hear,” his legal team wrote. “If the prosecution wishes to avoid criticism for abusing its power, the solution is simple: stop abusing its power. The Constitution allows no alternative.”

    The fight over the limits of Trump’s speech in one of four criminal cases he is facing comes as his legal team is also pushing the judge to remove herself from the case, arguing it appears she has already prejudged his guilt.

    In seeking the order earlier this month, special counsel Jack Smith’s team pointed to what it said is a pattern of “false and inflammatory” statements by Trump about the case as well as comments meant to intimidate or harass people he believes are potential witnesses against him.

    Radio Host and President of the Independence Institute in Denver, Jon Caldera, scooped up poop from a homeless person found outside his business and relocated it to the steps of the Denver City and County Building.

    A video captured the moment Caldera pulled off the smelly stunt and it quickly went viral.

    Caldera stated that he pulled off the grotesque stunt because city and county officials turned a blind eye to the homeless problem in Denver.

    The president of the Independence Institute shared he not only has to clean up human feces but he also has to clean up vomit, urine, syringes, and used condoms daily.

    Before Caldara pulled off the stunt he even made a press release announcing his plans.

    While Mayor Mike Johnston says addressing homelessness is his number one priority, a Denver businessman says he’s had it with the homeless going number two wherever they want. In what he calls an act of civil disobedience, Jon Caldera dumped human poop that he found outside his business on the steps of the Denver City and County Building on Monday.

    “This is a present from the homeless to the people who have kept this homeless problem going,” he said.

    President of the Independence Institute — a think tank in downtown Denver — Caldera says he’s tired of the homeless using his private property as their public restroom.

    City officials have yet to address the stunt.

    When it comes to funding foreign armies around the world, US money is seemingly endless – but for the basic, everyday needs of the American military itself, apparently there’s never much funds.

    The Biden administration announced Monday (25) that it is offering a $2 billion loan to Poland, an important ally which has been a ‘hub’ for weapons going into Ukraine, to support the ally’s defense modernization.

    Associated Press reported:

    “The State Department said in a statement that Poland is a ‘stalwart’ ally of the U.S. whose ‘security is vital to the collective defense” of NATO ’s eastern flank, and that such funding is reserved for Washington’s most important security partners’.”

    It has also been a ‘hub’ for most of the Western weapons that are going to Kiev regime.

    Now, Poland is in a process of modernization to replace the old Soviet material given. It is putting in orders with U.S. and South Korean defense companies.

    “Recently the Polish-Ukrainian relationship has seen strains due to a trade dispute centered on Ukrainian grain entering the Polish market and driving down the prices Polish farmers can get. Amid the spat Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said his country was no longer sending any more weapons to Ukraine.

    The comment created some confusion. Analysts noted that Poland has already in fact given Ukraine most of what it has to give, and the statement was made ahead of a Polish election and did not mean much. But it also raised concerns that Western support for Ukraine could be weakening.”

    U.S. officials have downplayed the spat, and praised Poland’s role in helping Ukraine.

    State Department: “In addition to its central support role in facilitating international assistance to neighboring Ukraine, Poland has demonstrated its ironclad commitment to strengthening regional security through its robust investments in defense spending,”

    Poland is now on the road to spend 4% of its budget on defense this year — that is, twice the mark set by NATO.

    The loan to Poland comes right as a scandal broke in a new report published by the Government Accountability Office, showing how inspections of 12 military installations found squalid conditions, ‘confirming complaints made by many service members for many years’.

    The report detailed grotesque conditions that some of the American troops face: mold, sewage, brown water, bedbugs and even squatters.

  20. Parents File Lawsuit Against Virginia Beach School Board For Refusing to Enact Youngkin’s Policies for Transgender Students

    Two parents in Virginia Beach have filed a lawsuit against their school board for refusing to enact Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s new model policies for handling transgender students.
    The model policies direct teachers to refer to transgender students by their biological sex and birth name unless parents agree in writing to any changes. They also require students to play on sports teams based on their biological sex.

    The lawsuit states that the parents “want to protect their children from being compelled to use biologically inaccurate names and pronouns, forced to use bathrooms and locker rooms with members of the opposite sex, or required to pretend during athletic competition that gender identity can override the enduring physical differences between boys and girls.”

    The Virginia Beach School Board voted down a proposal to adopt the policies last month. The vote was five versus five, with one member abstaining, so it failed.

    “Youngkin and Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares have said school boards must adopt the new rules, which they say are designed to give parents a greater say in how their children are treated at school” NBC News reports. “But it has been unclear whether state law provides any mechanism to force counties to adopt the regulations, and opponents say the policies violate federal law by codifying discrimination against transgender students.”

    The report added, “A state law passed in 2020 required the state to develop model regulations and county school boards to adopt them, but it included no enforcement mechanism. The model policies developed by Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam’s administration were greeted favorably by advocates for transgender students, but many school boards did not adopt them. At the time, the Department of Education told school districts failing to adopt the policies that they assumed all legal risks for noncompliance.”

    Victoria Manning, who voted to adopt the policies, said that she did so because this was why Virginians elected Governor Youngkin.

    “Virginians elected Gov. Youngkin for this very reason,” she said, according to the NBC report.

    Manning is welcoming the lawsuit.

    “A majority of the VA Beach School Board failed to support my resolution which would have put us in compliance with the law,” Manning told 13News Now. “I’m glad there are parents willing to take a stand and protect children and hold the board accountable.”

    The lawsuit, filed on Monday, is asking a judge to declare that the school board must adopt policies consistent with what the Youngkin administration has proposed and an injunction requiring the school board to do so.

    Governor Youngkin has also welcomed the lawsuit.

    “Let me just begin by saying I’m proud of them,” Governor Youngkin said of the parents who filed the lawsuit, according to the 13News Now report. “I’m proud of them for standing up for their children and for kids, and I support them and as you know, I firmly believe that there is no other decision for school boards than to adopt the model policies or policies that are consistent with the model policy.”

  21. Texas GOP Passes Unanimous Resolution Calling For Special Legislative Session On Colony Ridge
    Party Chairman says illegal immigrant development highlighted by The Daily Wire should be a ‘grave concern for all Texans’

    The Republican Party of Texas unanimously passed a resolution calling on Governor Greg Abbott to convene a special legislative session to address Colony Ridge, the massive housing development north of Houston that’s become a hub for illegal immigrants.

    The resolution, which passed by a vote of 61-0, says a special legislative session must be convened in order to “prevent further settlement of illegal aliens in Colony Ridge and any other areas of Texas.” The power to call a special legislative session is with Abbott, who has already been urged by the state’s Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick to do the same.

  22. Aldermen: Let Voters Decide if Chicago Should Stay a Sanctuary City

    Chicagoans are paying the price for socialists like Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson embracing sanctuary city status.

    Now, two Alderman in the city, Anthony Napolitano (41st) and Anthony Beale (9th), have cosponsored a resolution that would add a referendum to the March 2024 primary ballot asking voters if Chicago should continue to keep its sanctuary city designation.

    Napolitano wrote on Facebook:

    I cosponsored a resolution and an ordinance that address the crisis that is greatly impacting our city. The Resolution creates a ballot referendum where residents(YOU) can decide if Chicago should remain a sanctuary city.

    The ordinance we created requires Aldermanic approval for Any & All temporary illegal-immigrant housing within their ward.

    The illegal-immigrant crisis is quickly spiraling out of control and the hardworking residents of Chicago are left holding the bag. Our residents and the integrity of their neighborhoods need to remain our top priority.

    The local Welcoming City ordinance means officials will not ask immigrants about their legal status or deny someone services based on it. It also means the city will not cooperate with federal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities. Those protections were strengthened in 2021, closing loopholes that allowed police to work with ICE in certain scenarios.

    Napolitano said the resolution, which has yet to be introduced to City Council, would give power to voters instead of politicians. He said residents will “suffer” if taxes increase to pay for migrant-related resources.

    “Government has the best intention of this being the right thing to do but … it has hurt our city and and country financially,” Napolitano said. “You need to ask the tax-paying residents of your city, ‘Are we doing the right thing here?’ They need to be a part of the conversation, because this is catastrophic.”

    Chicago has spent over $100M to care for the illegals arriving in the city thanks to Joe Biden’s broken border.

    Despite the millions in taxpayer dollars, the city remains so overwhelmed that migrants are being housed in police stations and turning O’Hare airport into a dangerous, filthy and unsanitary encampment.

    The city is also dodging questions about where the funds are going, including denying a NBC Chicago Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for copies of a year’s worth of invoices for the more than $57 million spent on a staffing company that has a contract with the city to provide staffing in shelters.

    At a community meeting on Chicago’s South Side focused to discuss a soon-to-be-reestablished migrant shelter at The Lake Shore Hotel in the Hyde Park area, one resident proclaimed, “I don’t want them there. Take them someplace else or send them back to Venezuela. I don’t care where they go.”

    Residents in Woodlawn neighborhood shared concerns over the harassment and crime illegals have brought to their community.

    Tens of millions of people — more than live in the entire state of Florida — are now exposed to toxic water runoff from metal mining, a new study has found.

    The report lays bare the devastating impacts that can follow a reckless transition to ‘green’ energy, compounding the ecological damage wrought by over 150 years of drilling and mining for fossil fuels.

    The researchers found that 23 million people worldwide, as well as 5.72 million in livestock, over 16 million acres of irrigated farmland and over 297,800 miles worth of rivers have been contaminated by mining’s toxic byproducts seeping into the water.

    This metal mining includes many so-called ‘rare earth elements’ essential to the manufacture of high-tech electronics, solar cells, wind turbines and all the batteries needed to store sustainable ‘green’ energy (and power electric cars and iPhones).

    While the new study focuses on environmental impacts, global metals mining has recently faced shocking lawsuits against major tech firms, including Apple, Google, Microsoft and Tesla, over child slavery in the Congo, where 70 percent of the industry’s cobalt is sourced.

    I think we are living in an age now, a time now, were we need to grasp this opportunity and work together and really build on that, right?

    Kerry: And I want to ask you a question about that for a moment though…because you’re right…I feel the same way about Covid taught us all these lessons learned and we should be incorporating that….and the climate crisis is going to be so much worse.

    But I believe we were talking a little before we started the panel that people have forgotten….

    So I think it’s about the storytelling element. I think that a lot of the things we see on health are very doom and gloom very very much, even on the climate issue, right, the extent that people feel ‘I can’t deal with this anymore …I can’t do this.’

    But telling, you know, really inspiring stories about what is possible if we work together.

    Suella Braverman has declared that multiculturalism has “failed” in Europe and threatens social cohesion in the nation state.

    The Home Secretary, giving a speech on migration in the United States, said a “misguided dogma of multiculturalism” has allowed people to come to the UK with the aim of “undermining the stability and threatening the security of society”.

    Setting out the “civic argument” against illegal migration, Ms Braverman said: “Uncontrolled immigration, inadequate integration and a misguided dogma of multiculturalism have proven a toxic combination for Europe over the last few decades.

    “Multiculturalism makes no demands of the incomer to integrate. It has failed because it allowed people to come to our society and live parallel lives in it. They could be in the society but not of the society.

    “Inability to work following COVID-19 vaccination” is a modest paper just published in Public Health (paywalled, but available here as a preprint from last November), analysing data from the ‘CoVacSer’ cohort study, conducted out of Würzburg to monitor the effects of Covid infection and vaccination on healthcare workers. Of 1,831 CoVacSer participants who were surveyed on their experiences with vaccination between 29 September 2021 and 27 March 2022, 1,704 met criteria for inclusion in the present study. We’re looking therefore at the effects of the first, second and third doses.

    COVID-19 vaccination has emerged as a key strategy to control the spread and severity of SARS-CoV-2 infections, particularly among [healthcare workers]. However, vaccine-related incapacity could overwhelm public healthcare and must be addressed as part of this important prevention strategy. Vaccine-related staff absences must be considered in light of future COVID-19 booster vaccination campaigns and the challenges posed by the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

    The CoVacSer sample is overwhelmingly female (87%); only a minority (18.6%) were physicians. It is also relatively young and healthy, with a median age of 39 years.

    The New Moral Order Is Crumbling
    Globalism, climate-change alarmism, and cultural self-annihilation have all come under serious challenge. It’s a welcome start to a Well-Deserved Thrashing of the New World Order.

    In Lampedusa, the Italian island midway between Europe and Africa, and at Eagle Pass, Texas, and elsewhere along the visible and increasingly invisible frontiers that separate the global North from the South, the idea of permissive migration in an economically unequal world is being tested to destruction. Lampedusa was inundated last week with another surge of migrants from Africa, larger than the population of the island itself. In Texas, the influx across the border with Mexico became a torrent.

    The demographic tsunami from the global South as the North’s population shrinks is in its early stages, and most people can see clearly what happens when leaders insist on a moral code that suggests our obligations to indigent foreigners are as great as those to our own citizens. It won’t survive the political backlash now under way in both Europe and America, as even U.S. Democrats and Brussels Eurocrats are slowly starting to grasp.

    The second pillar, the moral imperative of self-abasing action to combat climate change, is falling too—most interestingly again in Europe and the U.K., where it has long been the official religion of the secularist priesthood.

    There is an air of surrealism around the climate-change debate in Britain and in much of Europe. The U.K. has dramatically reduced carbon emissions over the past 30 years, thanks in significant part to technological innovation. Its emissions per capita are now down to where they were in the mid-19th century. The British government could mandate tomorrow the elimination of all carbon emissions and a return to agrarian subsistence, and, given the massive and rapidly rising levels of emissions from China, India and elsewhere, it wouldn’t make the slightest difference to the climate.

    The third pillar—cultural self-annihilation—is also wobbling.

    The most interesting evidence of this is an electoral debate under way in Australia. The left-wing government there, eager to impress the world with its moral bona fides, has called for a reform to the constitution designed to redress the grievances of the Aboriginal population. Called the Voice to Parliament, the measures would create a constitutional body that Parliament would be required to consult on all legislative and other matters relating to indigenous peoples.

    The referendum that was expected to approve this change takes place next month, but the campaign has run into fierce opposition. The most recent polls suggest Australians will reject the move by a large majority. It seems they—like many of us in the rest of the West—have had enough of leaders’ insistence on dividing us by race and other attributes rather than uniting us around our common national identity

    Melanie Joly, Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister, has referred to this tactic on different occasions, actually bragged about yelling, and actually saying nothing, sorta of like out singing the singer.

    This tyrannical government we have in Canada are masters of bullshit. So now the Speaker of the House has resigned— or has been thrown under the bus — and well he should have. Whenever a dignitary, or an ordinary person arrives for a certain occasion there is a massive vetting period. So now the control freaks that are the Canadian bureaucrats and politicians are asking us to believe this visit was arranged by one man only.

    Please spare me the bullshit.

    • You’re right, ET. These are lightweights and they will screw up. Look at the frequency now, every week there’s another gaff–Trudeau in India or Nazis in parliament. But nothing seems to stick and nothing seems to matter in this land of the mentacided. Hope I’m wrong, though. Still lots of good people out there.
