Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    The concept is so counter-revolutionary (in our current context), so basic and clear that it is like getting slapped in the face with a big wet fish.

    Unless we are permitted to save the fruits of our labour we are not free. This means eliminating counter-party risk. This means the ability to own land without property tax that. I know, good luck with this, but the concept is important. If you don’t pay your property tax, government confiscates your land. Therefore you don’t really own it, do you? You are just a renter who thinks he owns something.

    However in terms of savings, land offers good retention of value until much of this value is taken away as “capital gain”. The same applies to gold and silver. But in the case of precious metals the capital gain penalty is even more unfair and ludicrous. When you go to the store and disposess a twenty-dollar bill in exchange for some new socks, do you pay a capital gains tax on this money? No. You pay a sales tax but not a capital gains tax. So why should you be forced to pay capital gains on the dispossession of true money, which is precious metals? And let’s not forget that it is not the metals going up in value (which is what the tax man says it is) but is really the currency losing value against these metals. So while you’ve only made money “on paper” (pun intended), all you have really managed to do is avoided losing by holding metals, yet you are taxed anyway. Also, how will the fruits of your hard labour and talent be saved under CBDCs? They won’t be because the CBDC is the mother of all counter-party risk asset.

    There there must be an instant, total, general strike by all working people if CBDCs come in. You should not expend a single second of effort if you cannot preserve your efforts in real money. See? Precious metals are really just the storing of energy expended. How’s this for basic and counter-revolutionary?

    We can scoff at the prospect of recovering such a right, but the plain fact is that without it we are not sovereign as human beings. It is a natural right to save one’s labour, not subject to permission by any other entity.

  11. I did not have any access to the internet for 1 week. I was told quite a variety of reasons why this happened. I had no source of real news. I have a crank radio, but could not seem to find any real information, I will work on that. I now have a better understanding of misinformation. You cannot escape the sky is falling, the world is full of hate, nothing is good, everything is negative, name calling is rampant Justine Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh think Canada is full of deplorables, sustainable, sustainable, sustainable, horse pucky.

    I did think about a major cyber attack. Do you know who your friends are, who you can trust, depend on in an emergency situation? Do you have any sort of a plan just in case…….

    The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NAC) said: Anyone above six months of age can get influenza vaccine and COVID-19 shot at the same appointments.

    “Absolutely, you can get them together. We have DATA about co-administration of flu and COVID vaccine suggesting there’s fairly significant safety and there’s no compromise in the efficacy on the vaccines.”

    A U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Protection (CDC) study published in July 2022 did not find any safety concerns with getting both vaccines at once.

    After winning, Mitchell grabbed his Bible put his arm around his opponent Dan Ige who is a native Hawaiian, and stated “I brought this Bible in here tonight because I do believe Satan is taking over this earth. Something specifically I’m talking about is these fires in Hawaii. I will be donating 5,000 to Dan Ige tonight to give to people in Hawaii.”

    Mitchell continued “We have to show Satan he can do nothing through the power of Christ when we come together.”

  15. Wisconsin Supreme Court Bans Absentee Ballot Drop Boxes — ‘Good Intentions Never Override the Law’

    The Wisconsin Supreme Court has banned absentee ballot drop boxes in the state.
    Wisconsin Public Radio reports, “The majority decision was written by Justice Rebecca Bradley and joined by the rest of the court’s conservative majority, including swing Justice Brian Hagedorn.”

    “Nothing in the statutory language detailing the procedures by which absentee ballots may be cast mentions drop boxes or anything like them,” Bradley wrote in the ruling.

    “WEC’s staff may have been trying to make voting as easy as possible during the pandemic, but whatever their motivations, WEC must follow Wisconsin statutes,” Bradley continued. “Good intentions never override the law.”

    Additionally, voters must personally deliver absentee ballots to the clerk’s office. Others, including roommates and spouses, will not be allowed to deliver ballots for them.

    Reading the election statutes in context and as a whole, we conclude an absentee ballot delivered in person … must be delivered personally by the voter,” Bradley wrote.

    Liberals on the court argued in their dissent that the ruling would make it harder for people to vote.

    “Although it pays lip service to the import of the right to vote, the majority/lead opinion has the practical effect of making it more difficult to exercise it,” wrote Justice Ann Walsh Bradley. “A ballot drop box is a simple and perfectly legal solution to make voting easier, especially in the midst of a global pandemic. But it is apparently a bridge too far for a majority of this court.”

    WPR reports:

    According to the Wisconsin Elections Commission, there were 528 drop boxes in use in the 2020 presidential election spread across 430 municipalities. By the spring of 2021, local officials reported a total of 570 drop boxes spread across 66 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties.

    The state’s Democrat Governor Tony Evers condemned the ruling in a post to X.

    “Today’s decision is another in a long line of Wisconsin Republicans’ successes to make it harder for Wisconsinites to exercise their right to vote, to undermine our free, fair, and secure elections, and to threaten our democracy,” Evers wrote.

    A judge in New York expressed frustration at Donald Trump’s defense counsel while considering sanctioning the defendants and their lawyers for making frivolous arguments in the state’s civil case against the former president and others.

    “When I first heard those arguments, I thought that was a joke,” said Judge Arthur Engoron, who added that he has repeatedly ruled on and been upheld on some of the arguments rehashed by defense.

    “The rule on sanctions is if you’ve been warned, don’t do it. You were warned,” Engoron said.

    “As a lawyer, I have to make the arguments,” Trump attorney Chris Kise told Engoron.

    Kise earlier in the afternoon asked the judge to dismiss the case against Trump and the other defendants.

  17. Growing electric vehicle sales bring concerns over safety hazards, toxicity, infrastructure costs

    Electric vehicle (EV) sales are up, but that may come with unintended—if not lethal—consequences. EVs pose many problems that are not well-known including potentially dangerous conditions in commercial parking garages and the fire risks associated with lithium-ion batteries used by EV’s.

    Electric vehicles are becoming more prevalent, and being scrutinized for their potential dangers, even when they are not being driven. In July of this year a cargo ship caught fire off the Netherlands’ coast after 3,500 new vehicles caught fire while in transport. One crew member was killed, and investigators said “the fire started in the battery of an electric car.”

    Flammability aside, EVs elicit concerns because of just how heavy they are compared to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Many older parking garages were simply not built with the weights of modern cars in mind, let alone EVs. The lithium-ion batteries that power new EVs account for a large portion of the weight discrepancy with traditional cars. For example, according to automotive trade journal Jobber News, “An electric vehicle can weigh much more than its internal combustion engine counterpart — the Ford F-150 Lightning can weigh 2,000-3,000 pounds more than the ICE version.”

    The battery of an electric GMC Hummer weighs approximately 2,900 pounds, or about the same as an entire 2022 Honda Civic.

    The Telegraph reported that experts in the U.K. have warned that parking garages “could be at risk of collapse as heavier electric vehicles put pressure on ageing infrastructure.”

    “I don’t want to be too alarmist, but there definitely is the potential for some of the early car parks in poor condition to collapse,” Chris Whapples, a structural engineer and a consultant on parking garage regulation, told The Telegraph. “Operators need to be aware of The battery of an electric GMC Hummer weighs approximately 2,900 pounds, or about the same as an entire 2022 Honda Civic.

    There is also a concern over the fire hazard that EVs pose, especially when parked in commercial garages because of those buildings’ tight quarters and restricted access.

    In June, Siemens AG released a White Paper reviewing fire safety protocols in parking garages housing electric vehicles. Smaller parking spaces, larger vehicles, and the increase of plastics in car design has led to greater risks from multi-vehicle fires in parking garages just with ICE vehicles, according to Siemens.

    The Siemens report highlights two recent international garage fires—one in Liverpool, U.K. in 2017 and another at the Stavanger Airport in Norway in 2020—which both caused significant structural damage and loss of property. This danger could be amplified by electric vehicles.

    Most parking garages today were designed to accommodate ICE vehicles, rather than newer EVs, which Siemens explains, react differently to fires. The lithium-ion batteries that power electric vehicles undergo what is known as “thermal runaway” when they combust, making a fire in an EV extremely difficult to extinguish. EV battery fires can also reignite hours or days after visible signs of fire are gone, the report said.

    “An electric vehicle (EV) battery fire releases the stored chemical energy, causing a rapid increase in temperature,” the report reads. “This results in an explosive combustion of the battery electrolyte vapor, with intense heat and highly toxic smoke, and can easily lead to multi-vehicle fires.”

    (Reuters) -The dramatic increase in migrants crossing the U.S. border from Mexico has pushed the city of El Paso, Texas, to “a breaking point,” with more than 2,000 people per day seeking asylum, exceeding shelter capacity and straining resources, its mayor said on Saturday.

    “The city of El Paso only has so many resources and we have come to … a breaking point right now,” Mayor Oscar Leeser said at a news conference.

    The arrival of largely Venezuelan asylum seekers is part of a larger swell of immigrants who traveled dangerous routes on buses and cargo trains to Mexican border towns near San Diego, California, and the Texas cities of El Paso and Eagle Pass.

    Migrant numbers had plummeted in recent months, and the recent rise has generated a new wave of political attacks on U.S. President Joe Biden heading into the 2024 election.

    Lesser said El Paso plans to open a new shelter, and on Saturday chartered five buses to take migrants to New York, Chicago and Denver.

    Republican governors in Texas and Florida have been criticized for sending migrants to cities perceived as liberal such as New York and Sacramento. But Leeser, a Democrat, said all of the migrants on the El Paso buses were going voluntarily to the cities of their choice.

    Leeser said the Biden had been a good partner. But he said the overall U.S. immigration system was broken.

    Many migrants from Venezuela, he said, lacked transportation to their desired destinations, while El Paso’s current shelter houses only 400 people, and must also be available to help the homeless.

    As recently as six weeks ago, about 350 to 400 people were crossing into El Paso per day, but the past few days have brought 2,000 or more.

    Over the past 10 days, the city has worked with the U.S. Border Patrol to provide shelter for 6,500 people, Leeser said.

    About two-thirds of those crossing into El Paso currently are single men, he said. About 32% are families and just 2% are unaccompanied children.

    “I think it’s really important to note that we have a broken immigration system,” he said. “It’s the same thing over and over again.”

    A new study reveals that the Mexican drug cartels have become the nation’s fifth largest employer, amassing reportedly around 175,000 thugs among 150 gangs.

    The Biden Regime has left the border wide open to be overrun with millions of illegals, terrorists, including dangerous thugs, victims of trafficking, and new Democrat voters. More than 7 million illegal aliens have crossed into the US on Joe Biden’s watch since he was installed in January 2021.

    The Cartels are more profitable and growing more rapidly than ever before with Joe Biden’s wide-open southern border and empowerment of their human and drug trafficking.

    Biden’s invasion is so damaging to border states that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has officially declared an invasion at the border. As The Gateway Pundit reported, Governor Abbott announced last week that he is building a wall and has deployed the Texas National Guard, DPS, and local law enforcement.

    Biden, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz have given Texas no choice but to defend its citizens. The radical left Democrats in New Mexico, Arizona, and California are enabling the federal government and the cartels.

    The Hill reports,

    Mexican cartels have seen a surge in growth in their participating members over the last decade, according to a new study, to the point where they have effectively become the nation’s fifth-largest employer.

    Researchers created a mathematical model using homicide, missing persons and incarceration data to track cartel recruitment. Their study, published Thursday in the journal Science, found that some 175,000 people in Mexico are employed by 150 different cartel groups.

    In the last ten years, 37 percent of known cartel members had been killed or incarcerated, and yet the size of cartels grew. The researchers found they must have recruited nearly 20,000 members a year to make up for losses.

    An unrelated report released by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in July estimated that the two largest cartels, Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation, employed more than 44,800 people. The study’s author, Rafael Prieto-Curiel, a former Mexico City police officer, said his model showed a similar number of 46,000 cartel members in those two groups.

    Prominent pollster Rasmussen announced recently that it cannot produce accurate polls on elections because of the massive amounts of voter fraud occurring in this country.

    Rasmussen will now provide evidence for why they cannot produce their results.

    “Election fraud renders scientific election forecasting worthless. So we will continue to cover all official investigations into it. The question is, why don’t others? And, yes, Arizona and Georgia are mostly Republican controlled,” Rasmussen reported.

    Rasmussen then shared an example of election fraud from the 2020 Election.

    Over 830,000 ballot impressions were illegally destroyed after the 2020 Election. No one has been held accountable for this crime.

    Another 150,000 ballots were identified during the recounts in Fulton County, Georgia that were supposedly mail-in ballots, but they had never been reviewed. These ballots were identical and were not folded and yet we were told they were mail-in ballots.

    VoterGA sued the county to be able to review these ballots. The lower court said they didn’t have standing after leading them on in a 9-month trial. The Georgia Appellate Court agreed some months later, and then finally, last Christmas, the Georgia Supreme Court said VoterGA had standing and could, therefore, review the ballots.

    This ruling was passed down to the Appellate Court, which has sat on it, still not allowing VoterGA to review these ballots.

    God only knows if these ballots have not been tampered with during this time.

    How could any pollster produce polling out of this corrupt mess?

    This summer, the Daughters of the American Revolution changed its bylaws to allow men who identify as women to join the all-female historical society, angering some of its members.

    DAR leaders passed an amendment stating that membership cannot be denied due to “[characteristics] protected by applicable law,” according to Newsweek.

    DAR president general Pamela Wright clarified during the organization’s annual meeting in June that men who have their birth certificates altered to indicate that they are female are eligible for membership.

    The new amendment also revoked the right of local chapters to decide if an applicant is “personally acceptable” for membership.

    Two Americans are alleging the FBI lost or stole their property after seizing it through a “shady” process.

    All we know is that their property was in a box and safe before the FBI broke into the box,” Joe Gay, an attorney with the nonprofit law firm Institute for Justice, told Fox News. “Once the FBI broke into the box, we honestly don’t know exactly what happened.”

    “We don’t know if they lost it. We don’t know if somebody pocketed it and walked away,” he continued. “We have no way to know.”

    The Institute for Justice filed two lawsuits Friday on behalf of clients who had property seized from their safety deposit boxes in a March 2021 FBI raid on U.S. Private Vaults, a Beverly Hills–based company. After prevailing in court, and the FBI agreeing to return their property, both Don Mellein and Jeni Pearsons discovered some of their property was missing and suspect the FBI’s haphazard raid or sticky fingers are to blame.
