Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. I’ve been very quiet although I check in every day.

    For those of us who are loyal followers of this great website, we’ve spent many hundreds hours of reading and commenting and replying. We are so well informed.

    The most difficult to get through are polar opposites aka the younger generation as well as the older one. But the most important would be the younger generation who are steering severely left-wise via brainwashing and the primal attraction to violence, words and/or deeds, for many of them.

    We are hundreds of millions and they – our overlords – are only a few thousand. And, still, we can’t get past them.

  2. Yesterday I went to the airport to pick up my son. While waiting in my car at the curbside a man passed by and shouted to his nearby travelling companion , “I can’t hear you, it’s too humid.”

    The out-of-towner had come from the climate-controlled airport terminal only to be smacked by the air. It had rained heavily a few hours before. It was still sticky. His words caught my ear like a fish hook. I thought it funny how he correlated humidity to sound. Maybe he was on to something, I don’t know, but in the much broader sense describing the air as thick, or how it makes it difficult to hear things, seems appropriate in other ways. He wasn’t used to the humidity because he had only just arrived. Stay here a couple of days, I thought, and this will be your new normal. Not the humidity, but the not hearing part, I mean.

    My experience with the 1992 recession, when my father lost most of his material possessions, still resonates with me. Sharp memories can help immunize against what is coming. In this case my financial alertness is not mollified by normalcy bias.

    I don’t have to hear it any longer from the experts. We are about to experience a severe credit crunch. Here is what a credit crunch means:

    “During a credit crunch, monetary supply is limited, and conditions are more challenging for taking risks, making banks and other financial institutions less willing to extend credit. Banks are less willing to offer loans during a credit crunch.”

    Look out below for those businesses and individuals who are cash poor and depend on lines of credit or any other type of loan to sustain their operation. Even securing monthly credit from suppliers will become progressively more difficult as those suppliers get burned by delinquent account holders. There will be blood.

    Hope and money make lousy dance partners when they’re moving to different tunes. For the last 20 years artificially loose monetary policy has made everyone feel like a winner.

    This is the very dangerous normalcy bias I am referring to. It won’t be long before luck favours the prepared, and the prepared will pounce to exploit the misery of others.

    Between politics and money I don’t think the air has ever been thicker.

    Texas LGBTQ organizations and drag queens have filed a lawsuit over a state law prohibiting “sexualized performances and drag shows in the presence of a minor.”
    The legislation, Senate Bill 12, was signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott in June.

    The bill applies to performances containing nudity and “the exhibition or representation, actual or simulated, of sexual acts,” or performances that appeal “to the prurient interest in sex … regardless of whether compensation for the performance is expected or received.”

    Businesses and venues that break the law will be fined up to $10,000 per violation. Performers who violate the law can be charged with a Class A misdemeanor, which will be punishable by up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

    Another day, another leak.

    Fulton County prosecutors will present text messages and emails to the grand jury connecting Trump’s lawyers to a ‘voting system breach’ in Coffee County, according to a leak to CNN.

    Georgia prosecutors are preparing sprawling racketeering charges against Trump over his effort to challenge the 2020 election in Georgia.

    Fani Willis based her investigation on President Trump’s call with Georgia officials that was later doctored and leaked to the fake news outlet Washington Post. The WaPo published a completely fraudulent text of the call. These phony charges have already been debunked by The Gateway Pundit and others.

    Recall, The Guardian recently reported Fani Willis will pursue the indictment on statutes related to “influencing witnesses and computer trespass.”

    The exact evidence is unclear, however, the computer trespass charge is related to efforts to access and examine the Dominion Voting Systems machines in Coffee County.

    The ‘influencing witness’ charge may be related to Trump’s phone call with Brad Raffensperger.

    Since Coffee County is outside of Fani Willis’s jurisdiction, the racketeering statute allows her to cast a wider net.

    So now examining the voting machines is a crime.

    According to CNN, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Coffee County elections official Misty Hampton, former NYPD Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik, attorney Katherine Friess and other employees from Sullivan Strickler, a law firm hired by Trump to examine the voting machines, are all targets of prosecutors.

    Freiss reportedly sent a “Letter of invitation to Coffee County, Georgia” to Bernie Kerik and others to examine the voting machines.

    Coffee County elections official Misty Hampton is now a target because she warned the voting machines could be “very easily” manipulated to flip votes.

    Fani Willis is going to charge Trump along with MULTIPLE defendants with her indictments this week.

    Willis will seek more than a dozen indictments against Trump and people in his orbit.

    The DA will use conspiracy and racketeering charges to sweep up multiple defendants at once.

    Crews with cadaver dogs have covered just 3% of the search area, Maui Police Chief John Pelletier said Saturday.

    “We’ve got an area that we have to contain that is at least 5 square miles, and it is full of our loved ones,” he said, noting that the number of dead is likely to grow and “none of us really know the size of it yet.”

    A Canadian woman who went to a hospital for help managing her suicidal thoughts and chronic depression was asked if she had considered euthanasia.
    Kathrin Mentler, 37, says that she went through a traumatic event earlier this year. When seeking psychiatric help at the Vancouver General Hospital, the doctor suggested the nation’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) program.

    The Globe and Mail reports, “Ms. Mentler says a clinician told her there would be long waits to see a psychiatrist and that the health care system is ‘broken.’ That was followed by a jarring question: ‘Have you considered MAID?’”

    Customs and Border Protection apprehended nearly 40,000 border crossers in the first ten days of August.
    Border Patrol captured 39,324 illegal aliens during this time frame who were crossing outside legal ports of entry — an average of 5,708 apprehensions per day.

    According to a report from Breitbart News, the Tucson and Rio Grande Valley Sectors reported more than 10,000 apprehensions each.

    “The Tucson and Rio Grande Valley Sectors reported 10,867 and 10,465 migrant apprehensions, respectively. The five Texas-based border sectors accounted for 23,119 of the 39,324 migrant apprehensions,” Breitbart reports.

    If this rate continues, nearly 200,000 illegal aliens could be caught at the border this month, an estimated 177,000 migrants.

    Chinese company CellX launched a lab-grown meat factory in Shanghai on Wednesday.
    CellX co-founder and CEO Ziliang Yang told the South China Morning Post that the plant has a 2,000-litre bioreactor with a capacity to produce “single-digit tonnes” of cultivated meat per year.

    Yang said that they plan to add more bioreactors soon.

    “The insights from this pilot facility will be used for our commercial production facility that we’re planning to complete by 2025 [which] will be able to produce hundreds of tonnes of products per year,” Yang said.

    There are 1.4 billion people in China, so creating lab-grown meat has been one of their top priorities to provide animal protein to the population without depending on imports.

    The SCMP reports, “In May 2022, Beijing expressed its support for the development of synthetic protein as a food source to reduce the pressures on environmental resources brought on by traditional livestock breeding, as part of its 14th five-year development plan for the bio-economy. This was preceded by the inclusion of lab-grown meat and other alternative proteins in January to ensure a sustainable food supply.”

    “Yang said the pilot facility will help to reduce CellX’s production cost to below US$100 per pound, making it competitive against premium meats, he said, adding that the launch of CellX’s commercial production facility in 2025 will further reduce costs,” the report continued. “In comparison, one pound of A5 grade Japanese Wagyu Kobe beef sells for around US$189 on Amazon.”

    Yang is planning to approach food regulators in the US to begin exporting it here in 2025.

    “The fact that we’re able to do pilots and reduce costs below US$100 per pound is really a major milestone that signifies the transition from R&D to production,” said Yang. “Industrialisation and commercialisation is something that we will focus on next.”

    New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been a complete failure in his handling of the illegal immigrant crisis in the Big Apple.

    In March, Adams announced a new policy for illegals arriving in his sanctuary city that would be shift them throughout the state and country. The plans were outlined in a policy brief entitled ‘The Road Forward: A Blueprint to Address New York City’s Response to the Asylum Seeker Crisis.’

    But as the city’s finances, and the patience of New Yorkers, are increasingly strained, Adams is finally experiencing what people who live near the border have known for years and he is sharing the misery with other communities throughout the state.

    And, after a second illegal has been arrested on sexual abuse charges, The National Guard has been deployed to western New York State.

    Erie County officials charged that a third party contracted by New York City to handle the migrant hotel operation might have obstructed local police’s investigations into the assaults, and are demanding that the Biden administration and Congress act at the federal level to properly address the crisis.

    At a press conference Saturday, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, a Democrat, said no more asylum seekers would be sent from New York City until security measures involving the migrants could improve. He said New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, a fellow Democrat, agreed to place National Guard members at each of the hotels housing asylum seekers to act as a “stabilizing presence.”

    Poloncarz joined Cheektowaga Chief of Police Brian Gould in calling for the immediate discontinued use of the Best Western hotel on Dingens Street to house asylum seekers.
    A 27-year-old woman, working for an agency providing services to migrants, reported her sexual assault to the Cheektowaga Police Department on Friday afternoon. A 22-year-old male attacker, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was charged with the crime.

    According to Fox News, Frank Todaro, an Erie County Legislator, issued a statement providing details of a prior incident saying, “self-purported asylum seeker that was shipped here from NYC was charged with raping a woman in front of a 3-year-old child.” This problem is at our doorstep because the County Executive welcomed it,” Todaro said.

    The Gateway Pundit reported on Adams’ criticisms of Biden’s broken border policy, indirectly, by claiming that the migrant crisis is ‘destroying’ the city.

    The Islamic Republic of Iran is reportedly nearing the threshold to test nuclear weapons as their ability to enrich weapons-grade uranium has dramatically accelerated under the Biden administration.

    The Jerusalem Post reported that Iran, which is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, has sought technology that is illegal for them to have in order to further develop their nuclear weapons program, according to new intelligence reports out of Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

    The reports said that Iran was moving fast in its advances, which “brings the option of a possible Iranian first nuclear test closer.”

    “Last year, Iran proceeded with its nuclear program. The country continues to increase stocks of 20% and 60% enriched uranium,” one of the reports said. “By means of centrifuges, this can be used for further enrichment to the 90% enriched uranium needed for a nuclear weapon.”

    The reports noted that Iran was continuing to violate laws in its drive to obtain nuclear weapons and that the country “engages in industrial espionage” in high-tech industries to further its weapons program.

    “The United States agrees not to criminally prosecute Biden, outside of the terms of this Agreement, for any federal crimes encompassed by the attached Statement of Facts (Attachment A) and the Statement of Facts attached as Exhibit 1 to the Memorandum of Plea Agreement filed this same day. This Agreement does not provide any protection against prosecution for any future conduct by Biden or by any of his affiliated businesses.”

    Goldman said:

    “Now, in the ordinary course, you would not give immunity for other conduct than what is charged. But this is not the ordinary course, because you have a petty, vindictive bully running as the — for president on the Republican Party who will use revenge and weaponize the Department of Justice to potentially charge Hunter Biden.

    “So, even though I’m sure Hunter Biden has confidence that David Weiss will not charge him with additional crimes, they have no confidence that, if Donald Trump wins, that he would weaponize the Department of Justice to charge Hunter Biden, go back and charge him.

    “And that’s why this plea agreement has broken down, because of the threat of Donald Trump’s weaponization of the Department of Justice if he were to become president.”

    JAKE TAPPER: : Congressman Goldman, thanks so much for joining us.

    So Attorney General Garland said that he believed it was in the public interest to appoint U.S. attorney David Weiss as special counsel overseeing the Hunter Biden probe. Do you agree? Is it in the public interest?

    REP. DANIEL GOLDMAN (D-NY): Well, I defer to the attorney general’s determination on this.

    What we now know is that David Weiss, the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney in Delaware, was right all along, that he did have ultimate authority. And when he requested special counsel status because the plea agreement has broken down and he may have to charge Hunter Biden in — outside of his own district, which he requires additional authority to do, he got it.

    And this is just another reflection of the true independence of this Department of Justice. A Trump-appointed U.S. attorney is investigating the president’s son. That is pretty remarkable. And you don’t hear from the other side a respect for the fact that Joe Biden has stayed out of this investigation.

    And so I defer to Merrick Garland and David Weiss. If Hunter Biden has committed crimes, he should be charged with them. I’m a Democrat saying that. You don’t hear any currently elected Republican saying that, if Donald Trump committed crimes, he should be charged with them and held accountable. And that’s a critical distinction that the public needs to understand.

    TAPPER: So, House Republicans say — and we kind of heard Will — former Congressman Will Hurd say something similar just now — hey, U.S. attorney Weiss, he may be a Trump appointee, but he also was the one that signed off on this slap-on-the-wrist, sweetheart deal — their words, not mine — when it came to Hunter Biden being charged with two misdemeanors and a diversion program, instead of full felony charges.

    Therefore, Speaker McCarthy and other Republicans say, David Weiss can’t be trusted to be the special counsel. What do you say to that?

    GOLDMAN: Well, no one knows what the evidence is. So when they say this is a sweetheart deal, they are blowing smoke, because they have no idea.

    And so this is, to my mind, having been a federal prosecutor for 10 years, not at all a sweetheart deal. This is something that is routinely treated in a civil way, through civil penalties, not criminally. And yet Hunter Biden was charged with crimes. This is a five-year investigation. They looked at everything. We know

    that from testimony in the Oversight Committee. They had foreign bank records. They had domestic bank records.They had hundreds of thousands of documents. And this is ultimately what they thought they could charge.

    Judge Tanya Chutkan physically demonstrated her ‘exasperation’ with President Trump’s attorney during oral arguments at the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. on Friday, rolling her eyes and putting her face in her hands according to Guardian reporter Hugo Lowell.

    Lowell was in the courtroom and described the judge’s demeanor in an interview with Katie Phang on MSNBC on Saturday.

    The hearing was held for an emergency request by Special Counsel Jack Smith to limit what Trump can say about the case in public. Lowell said at times Chutkan appeared sympathetic to points made by Trump’s attorney John Lauro, but that she also grew “exasperated” as Lowell talked about the Biden administration going after Trump and emoted while on the bench.

    Phang: “Quickly, Hugo before we go to a break. I wanted to ask you, tell us about body language. A lot of us cannot be there, right. We can’t be in court. There are no cameras in the court. What was kind of the body language between Judge Chutkan and Trump and his defense counsel?” (Note Trump did not appear at the Friday hearing.)

    Lowell: “Yeah, I Think, you know, the judge was sympathetic to some of the Trump lawyers’, uh, kind of arguments, you know. They, they were making the case that, you know, being a defense lawyer is difficult, especially with a client like Trump and I think she kind of accepted that, she has a defense background herself. But at other times I think I think she kind of grew exasperated by all the discussions about politics, you know, at one point she kind of put her uh, her um, face in her hands, she kind of rolled her eyes when, you know, there was another discussion about, you know, the Biden Administration coming after Trump. Um, so I think, you know, I think Trump’s lawyer John Lauro picked up on that a little bit and he shifted course throughout the hearing, the hearing. So clearly that was something he thought was gonna be a loser and uh, changed tack.”

    Democrat Congressman Jamie Raskin made the outrageous and fictitious claim that Donald Trump used the government for his own self enrichment during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week” with Anchor Jonathan Karl.

    Karl asked Raskin his thoughts on allegations that Biden family received bribes from foreign countries.

    “You know, we’ve seen — we saw Donald – you know, we saw Joe Biden at one point say that Hunter Biden had no dealings, got no money from China. We now see from hunter’s own words that that’s not true. Does – are – does any of this raise concerns for you, you know, the money from Ukraine, the money from China, the money from Russia?”

    Raskin replied:

    “Here’s what I’m concerned about. During the Trump administration, we saw the development of a completely new public philosophy, which is that government is not an instrument of the common good in the public interest. Government is an instrument for private self-enrichment, for the guy who gets in, for his family, for his private businesses. And that’s a model that we’re seeing all over the world now.”

    This claim is clearly and demonstrably false. Donald Trump, unlike most politicians, LOST money as a result of serving in office. As reported by NBC,

    “The presidency has been bad for Donald Trump’s finances, with his personal net worth falling from $4.5 billion to $3.1 billion over the past two years, according to the latest Forbes billionaires list.

    Trump dropped 138 spots to 259 on the Forbes 400, an annual measure of the richest people in the U.S. During that same period, Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos rose to the top spot, with an estimated fortune 52 times greater than that of the president, at $160 billion.”

    Donald Trump willingly chose to reject his presidential salary which would have totaled $1,600,000 by the end of his term. If Trump wanted to become President simply to get rich, he sure did a bad job at it. Jamie Raskin on the other hand has not rejected his congressional salary of $174,000.

    Raskin, like many other members of congress, has accumulated tremendous wealth while “serving” in elected office. In fact, according to estimates Raskin is a multimillionaire worth over $4,000,000. How is it that someone who is making $174,000 a year manages to get that kind of wealth?

    When comparing the careers of Trump and Raskin, it is clear who used their office to get rich. It is unwise to throw stones when you live in a glass house. This is a clear example of the pot calling the kettle black.

    If Raskin actually cared about politicians using their office to get rich, he would speak up about the Biden crime family allegedly receiving millions of dollars in bribes from foreign interests.

    If it weren’t for double standards, these democrats would have no standards at all. They are so caught up in their Trump derangement syndrome that they have lost their grasp on reality.
