Reader’s Links for July 13th, 2023

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. A Christian social worker in the U.K. is taking legal action after his job offer was rescinded for his Christian views of sexuality and marriage.

Felix Ngole was offered his “dream job” as a mental health support worker at Touchstone Support Leeds, a charity partnered with the U.K.’s National Health Service (NHS), but weeks later, the company rescinded the offer when it found out about his Christian beliefs and past victory in a religious liberty case.

Several weeks after receiving his acceptance letter, he received an email from Touchstone Deputy CEO Kathryn Hart, saying he was not fit for the position because the company had “identified some significant areas and concerns” that did not “align with Touchstone Leeds’ ethos and values.”

  2. Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar announced on Wednesday that she would be boycotting President Isaac Herzog’s address to a joint session of the US Congress next week in what likely is to start a trend among other progressives in her party.

“There is no way in hell I am attending,” Omar wrote in a Twitter thread that listed nearly a dozen reasons for her decision.

Herzog is slated to give the speech marking Israel’s 75th anniversary on Wednesday after receiving an invitation last year by then-House speaker Nancy Pelosi, which current Speaker Kevin McCarthy reissued earlier this year.

    • Herzog is the scion of Israeli royalty, a family of European aristocrats – a Chief Rabbi of Ireland, other places, diplomats, military heroes, scholars.

Israel has outgrown the soft-left Herzog family. Made the transition – almost – from basket case socialist beggar to Startup Nation.

  3. New Yorkers have unleashed in detail about how they are feeling increasingly unsafe on the city’s streets and subways — and how they fear they could be the next victim of crime.

The Post spoke to several locals on Wednesday about the current state of crime in the Big Apple after a grim new Siena College poll found 41% of New Yorkers have “never” been so on-edge about their own safety.

Some said their feelings of insecurity was driving them to carry pepper spray, constantly have their guard up — and even leave the city.

Here’s what they had to say:

  4. I didn’t spend much time in higher education. Maybe this is why I’ve been in school ever since.

Without honest money no people are free. Much of the deficit spending by Western governments has gone to financing the Left. This is the drum I’ve been beating since I came to VTB. The free market, not the government, must be in control of the money supply. Did you know that the currency printing going on in the U.S. is unconstitutional?

A gold standard is unlikely to work not because it can’t work on its own, but because inherently dishonest government cannot be trusted to maintain it. And lest anyone point to Red China and its ostensible generosity in urging its people to own gold, think more how this is a mechanism for the CCP to protect itself against a restless proletariat. “You are solvent because of us in our currency crisis…”. (Until arbitrary confiscation.)

Yet, honest money is our only way out of this mess, or it is at very least a major component of any resolution of it.

  5. Try to remember not so long ago when a tranny was just the gearbox connected to your car’s engine. The provocations required by the Left to put it on our map as something else was the shrill cry that trannies were people, too, ya know. Little did we understand the Thesis, anti-thesis, synthesis mechanism that was afoot, and that would allow this active measure to grow into yet another society-cleaving dialectical device. Where we were then is where Hungary is now. Fully three-quarters of the population gives the topic little thought, let alone believes in this nonsense. I fully believe Viktor Orban kicked the Central European University out of Budapest because its secret mandate was to indoctrinate young Hungarians into this ideology. This has not, however, stopped this post-Soviet iteration of communism to stop trying:

  6. 58 quality seconds. The Bank of Canada raised interest rates again yesterday. It says it is doing this to combat inflation, yet official government inflation states it to be less than 5%. There is a contradiction here, because it is well known that interest rates must only surpass inflation in order to tame it, so why keep raising rates?

Either the BoC doesn’t believe its own stated rate of inflation of 3.4 %, or it is weaponizing interest rates in order to financially devastate indebted Canadians. Getting the majority of the working population over the debt barrel sounds like an effective control mechanism to me.

The UN and EU’s Hostility and Double Standards toward Israel

Aliens hearing the condemnations of Israel by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and EU Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell regarding Israel’s recent military action against the terror infrastructure in Jenin would imagine Israel’s forces deciding out of the blue one morning to willfully, cruelly, and disproportionately attack the town of Jenin for no apparent reason.

They would not have any idea that Palestinian terrorists had turned the Jenin refugee camp into an armed, aggressive, and fanatic fortress, and with explosives implanted under the roads and weapons stored in hospitals, clinics, mosques, and in almost all private residences. Terrorists built a 300-meter tunnel under a local mosque in order to store weapons and produce thousands of lethal weapons in laboratories. The city was also the center, shelter, refuge, and exit-point for countless cruel acts of terror…

International law specifically prohibits the use of civilian areas as centers for staging terror. Such civilian areas lose their privileged protection if they are used for offensive military purposes…

Numerous international counter-terror conventions and UN Security Council resolutions require states to act decisively to prevent acts of terror…. Yet Israel’s critics overlook Israel’s prerogative….

[WHY do] the leading international bodies continue to minimize Palestinian terror…?

Such hypocrisy and double standards by international bodies achieve nothing and encourage the Palestinian terror apparatus, supported and encouraged by Iran, to continue to harm Israel.

      Surge in Palestinian Terror Is a Preview of a Two-State “Solution” {Final Solution}

The international reaction to the recent surge in Palestinian terrorism and Israel’s operation in Jenin to take out the gunmen and infrastructure of the groups responsible for the bloodshed has been as predictable as it is depressing. Far from making it clearer that the world must pressure Israel to accept a Palestinian state next to Israel, the fighting actually provides us with a preview of what such a scheme would mean for both sides.

Jenin had become a mini-Gaza, a no-go zone for the Palestinian Authority and a terrorist stronghold dominated by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, bolstered by funding from Iran. No one should be under any illusions that the terrorists won’t rebuild or that the PA will take it back or suppress the terrorists as they are obligated to do under the Oslo Accords. The conclusion to be drawn is that if Israel were ever to grant sovereignty to the Palestinians there, the entire area would become, like Gaza, a terrorist state.

It’s true that, at least in principle, two states for two peoples would be the most logical way to end the century-long war against Zionism that the Palestinians have been waging. But not even the so-called moderate Palestinians are prepared to recognize the legitimacy of a Jewish state no matter where its borders are drawn.

Russia and Gulf countries seek to increase cooperation

Russia held a meeting with the Gulf States this week in what is the sixth ministerial meeting of Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The meeting has added importance this year because of Russia’s war in Ukraine and also other shifting global issues that put the Gulf states in a unique position. The Gulf has also hosted important Chinese delegations and this week the N7 Initiative is holding a meeting in Bahrain. That means the Gulf is increasingly a center of world affairs.

According to Arab News, the “GCC countries are keen to enhance all forms of cooperation with Russia, secretary-general of the GCC, Jassim al-Budaiwi, said.” The countries discussed increasing cooperation on economic issues and also regarding energy issues. This includes both oil and also clean energy.

“The Gulf countries and Russia also praised the successful efforts of the OPEC+ countries in this regard, and said there needed to be continued cooperation of all participating countries to adhere to the OPEC+ agreement in a way that served the interests of the global economy,” Arab News said. Gulf State ties with Russia amid the ongoing war in Ukraine

The Gulf States don’t want to take a major stand on the Russia-Ukraine war. They prefer non-interference in “internal affairs.” However, it’s not clear how Russia’s invasion is an “internal” issue.

“We have a unified position with the Gulf states towards Syria’s unity and sovereignty over its lands, and Syria’s return to the Arab League has positively affected the region,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. Lavrov also discussed solving the Yemen conflict. Recently a new diplomatic era in the region has opened doors to peace deals. This has been the case with the Iran-Saudi deal and other initiatives.

  8. Palestinian Authority Refuses Israel’s Lifeline to Prevent Collapse

The Palestinian Authority on July 10 rejected an Israeli offer to help prevent its collapse in exchange for Palestinian steps to halt key anti-Israel policies. Under Israel’s terms, the PA would cease its activities against Israel in international diplomatic and legal forums, stop illegal construction in parts of the West Bank, end incitement against Israelis, and stop pay-to-slay payments to families of Palestinian terrorists who kill Israelis. In return, Israel would take economic, tourist, and security measures to stabilize the PA.

In refusing the bailout offer, PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh vowed to continue anti-Israel efforts in the international arena and reiterated a 2018 pledge by President Mahmoud Abbas, who said, “Even if we have only a penny left, we will give it to the martyrs, the prisoners, and their families.”

Jonathan Schanzer, Senior Vice President for Research at FDD, said, “The PA has been on the brink of collapse for years. Some of this is due to American cutbacks promoted by congressional outrage over ‘pay-to-slay’ budgets. In addition, the PA has lost the support of Gulf Arab states owing to the stagnant and corrupt leadership of Mahmoud Abbas.”

  9. Senators Demand U.S. Administration Reverse “Antisemitic Israel Boycott”

A group of 15 U.S. Republican senators sent a letter on Tuesday to Secretary of State Antony Blinken calling on the Biden administration to rescind its “discriminatory” guidance issued last month halting bilateral scientific and technological cooperation with Israeli entities operating in Judea and Samaria.

“The new guidance as written constitutes an antisemitic boycott of Israel,” they wrote. “The American people and Congress broadly and deeply oppose boycott efforts against Israel, which have been repeatedly defined in U.S. law as efforts to limit [commerce] with persons doing business in any territories controlled by Israel.”

“This guidance in particular puts Americans’ safety, security, and prosperity at risk because it politicizes and undermines cooperation on science and technology, including in areas such as defense and medicine where also our Israeli allies have proven themselves critical partners.”

The move reversed an initiative by the Trump administration in October 2020 that removed geographic restrictions on cooperation with Israel in the areas of science, industrial research and agriculture. In eliminating the restrictions, then-U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman said, “We are righting an old wrong and…depoliticizing a process that should never have been political in the first place.”

“Israel was mentioned approximately 10 times more than any other country in tweets pertaining to human rights violations,” according to a new study by the Network Contagion Research Institute at Rutgers University.

Israel is mentioned 12 times more than China on human rights issues, 38 times more than Iran, and 111 times more than North Korea.

The study analyzed close to 100 million tweets from Jan. 1, 2020, to June 30, 2022.

  12. The Democratic Socialists of America just endorsed ethnic murder

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest left-wing organisation in the United States and a prominent backer of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. DSA Palestine recently sparked controversy by claiming about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that ‘One could (and should) very well argue that in a settler colonial context there are no such things as “civilians”’ and by endorsing a right of ‘resistance in all forms’.

By erasing the distinction between combatants and non-combatants DSA Palestine is defining all Israeli Jews as legitimate targets for murder. Ari Allyn-Feuer calls for the upcoming DSA conference to apologise, explain, and reconsider its recent lurch to crude ‘Smash Israel’ politics.

    Introduction: DSA endorsed ethnic murder
Something extremely strange happened last week. Democratic Socialists of America, the largest socialist organisation in the United States, endorsed the idea that there is a particular ethnic group whom one is entitled to murder. Despite this stance being condemned by many, the DSA has not retracted or apologised. It has, rather, reiterated and defended its position that Israeli Jews are legitimate targets for murder…

DSA Palestine’s tweet said this: ‘One could (and should) very well argue that in a settler colonial context there are no such things as “civilians”, but disregarding that even, it’s total folly to honestly compare settlers perpetrating pogroms to resistance groups deploying violence to liberate themselves.’

This is a stunning statement. The distinction between civilian and military personnel, non-combatants and combatants, in an armed conflict is the dividing line between those who have the protection of international law, whom it is a war crime to target, and those who may be intentionally killed, legitimately, without limit or sanction, anywhere in the theatre of conflict. Saying that there are no Israeli civilians (not even women, children, or the elderly) is saying that DSA considers it legitimate, as a general rule, to kill any Israeli.

JUST IN: FBI Director Wray gets visibly upset after Matt Gaetz calls him out to his face for protecting the Biden crime family by reading a WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden to a Chinese official.

Gaetz: “You seem deeply uncurious about it, don’t you? Almost suspiciously uncurious. Are you protecting the Bidens?”

    Wray: “Absolutely not.”

Gaetz: “You won’t answer the question about whether or not that’s a shakedown and everybody knows why you won’t answer it. Because to the millions of people who will see this, they know it is. And your inability to acknowledge that is deeply revealing about you.”

The Bidens ‘Coerced’ Burisma To Pay $10 Million In Bribes, Says Credible FBI Source
    BY: MARGOT CLEVELAND
    JUNE 15, 2023

he Bidens allegedly “coerced” a foreign national to pay them $10 million in bribes, according to individuals familiar with the investigation into the FBI’s handling of the FD-1023 confidential human source report. What, if anything, agents did to investigate these explosive claims remains unknown, however, with sources telling The Federalist the FBI continues to stonewall.

On Monday, Sen. Chuck Grassley revealed a foreign national — identified by individuals with knowledge of the matter as Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky — allegedly possessed 17 recordings implicating the Bidens in a pay-to-play scandal. While 15 of the audio recordings consisted of phone calls between Zlochevsky and Hunter Biden, two were of calls the Ukrainian had with then-Vice President Joe Biden, according to the FD-1023.

The Federalist has now learned the FD-1023 reported the CHS saying the Bidens “coerced” Zlochevsky to pay the bribes. Sources familiar with the investigation also explained the context of Zlochevsky’s statements, and that context further bolsters the CHS’s reporting.

In the FD-1023 from June 30, 2020, the confidential human source summarized earlier meetings he had with Zlochevsky. According to the CHS, in the 2015-2016 timeframe, the CHS, who was providing advice to Zlochevsky, told the Burisma owner to stay away from the Bidens. Then, after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential contest, the CHS asked Zlochevsky if he was upset Trump won.

Zlochevsky allegedly told the CHS he was dismayed by Trump’s victory, fearing an investigation would reveal his payments to the Biden family, which included a $5 million payment to Hunter Biden and a $5 million payment to Joe Biden. According to the CHS, the Burisma executive bemoaned the situation, claiming the Bidens had “coerced” him into paying the bribes.

  14. Not Once But Thrice: Drugs Discovered Three Times at Biden’s White House Since 2022, Boebert Reveals After Secret Service Briefing
    By Jim Hoft Jul. 13, 2023 2:00 pm265 Comments

In a not a so-surprising revelation following a Secret Service briefing on Thursday, Republican Representative Lauren Boebert announced that cocaine discovered at the White House on July 2 was not the first incident of drugs found at Biden’s White House, citing two other instances within the last year.

The Gateway Pundit reported earlier that Secret Service had announced the conclusion of its investigation into the recent cocaine discovery at the White House. Despite having narrowed down a list of 500 potential individuals, no suspects have been officially identified.

Interestingly, the investigation has ended without administering drug tests to these individuals, a decision that has sparked further controversy and calls for transparency.

According to the Secret Service statement, “There was no surveillance video footage found that provided investigative leads or any other means for investigators to identify who may

Joe Biden is Trying to STOP ISRAEL From “going off the rails” | 100,000s in the Streets

Israel just passed the first reading of the Reasonableness Standard Bill in the Knesset, advancing the first stages of judicial reform. In response, the Biden administration called on Israel to “respect the right of peaceful assembly” after saying they are trying to keep Israel from going off the rails.

Thousands of protesters also took to the streets to demonstrate. They blocked roads across Israel and demonstrated at the Ben-Gurion Airport and additional locations on Tuesday, calling it a “Day of Resistance” and “Disturbance”.

These protesters claim they are protesting for democracy but the judicial reform is actually pushing democracy forward, so the question is, why are they protesting?
