Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  3. The Ukraine disaster will be compounded because it is predicated by the Keynesian-driven Biden regime on a strong USD going forward. (I’ve always disliked the expression “going forward”, which I don’t recall existing 20 years ago, because it has no end date, whereas if we say “in the future” we can at least ask when, exactly.) The subsequent unaffordability of forever wars will become dramatically obvious to the American taxpayer once he begins to struggle in the coming economic depression, paying much more for necessities because of the devalued dollar.

  8. Interesting datapoint: lately, my heart has been warmed by watching some intelligent young people’s ‘reaction videos’. These are kids who were raised and went to school under leftist brainwashing and who were truly not aware about the realities in our past, present and future and the diversity of ideas that exists.

    Example: a young engineering student came across Thomas Sowell’s audio clips on YouTube about say, slavery, how the blacks were doing really well until the wellfare stated destroyed the black families, plus plus plus. It is great to see good minds beginning to open.

    If I get to the video early enough that it only has a few comments, I add my own thoughts and suggestions on where to dig to get more supporting information. Nothing wrong with that, right?

    Except that…

    When I go back to see if I got any responses or questions I ought to answer, the comment is missing, as if it were never there.

    The latest comment like this was yesterday when the topic of Kamala Harris’s policies came up and I pointed out how she gave multiple speeches urging Ukraine to break the Budapest accord, which led to the Ukraine war. I also pointed out 3 weeks into the war, there was a signed ceasefire agreement (which Putin displayed to journalists on his South African visit a few days ago 3 weeks into the conflict, but, at the Biden regime’s orders, Ukraine breeched that too.

    Interestingly, the videos of Harris urging the breech of the Budapest accord are on YouTube.

    The video of Putin displaying the ceasefire agreement is on YouTube.

    But a comment pointing this out gets memory-holed.

    No word from YouTube why it is removed, no word that it is removed.

        The biggest news of the past few days was a revelation that Putin made to the visiting African delegation which was trying to mediate a peace talk between Russia and Ukraine, after some of them had just met Zelensky in Kiev.

  17. Rapper Kodak Black’s Lawyer Slams DOJ’s Prison-Free Plea Deal with Hunter Biden Over Same Federal Weapons Crime

    News broke on Tuesday morning that Hunter Biden has agreed to plead guilty to multiple criminal charges according to CNN. The investigation into Hunter Biden has supposedly lasted five years.

    After five years of investigation the Biden DOJ found Hunter Biden guilty of TWO MISDEMEANORS and ONE GUN CHARGE!

    Of course, this is a complete bastardization of the US Justice System. The serial criminal is slapped with misdemeanors after we know he was using classified documents leaked to him by his father to set up lucrative deals with foreign officials.

    Hunter will serve NO TIME in prison for his latest criminal actions.

    The same DOJ sent rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black to prison for years on gun charges. Both rappers were granted a pardon by President Donald Trump.

    Bradford Cohen, a seasoned attorney and representative of renowned rapper Kodak Black, expressed his discontent over the Justice Department’s decision concerning Hunter Biden’s case.

    Hunter managed to escape potential imprisonment by pleading guilty to federal tax and firearms charges, a move that Cohen finds deeply problematic.

    Contrasting Hunter Biden’s case, Kodak Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri, faced similar charges in 2019.

    According to New York Post, the Grammy-nominated artist was found guilty of providing false information on a federal gun purchase form to procure three firearms from a shop in Miami. Given his criminal record, Black was not eligible to buy these weapons.

    Despite pleading guilty, Black was handed a sentence exceeding three years in federal prison.

    “2 tiers of justice? Kodak was charged for the same crime. Got over 3 years,” Cohen wrote on his Instagram Tuesday.

    “Mr. Biden will not serve a day. Feels right? Do FBI agents and federal authorities take cases personally? I’m going to discuss this on my subscriber page,” he added.

    In a Twitter post, Cohen said that in all his years working in the criminal justice system, he has never had a client get out of jail time after pleading guilty to charges like unlawful gun possession or tax evasion.

    “After 26 years, I have yet to have a plea in a case with an illegal possession of a weapon and tax evasion, that did not come with some kind of prison sentence. Indigents charged the same way would be getting jail time,” he wrote.

    “Even in the case of paying off coaches to get their kids into college came with a prison sentence. One even got 2 weeks, even though she was scoring no jail time. The system was so petty that they made her surrender to a federal prison for 2 weeks! But in this case nothing,” he added.

    Fed Prosecutor Reeve Swainston, Esq. also shared his insight following the sweetheart deal Hunter Biden plea deal:

    As a FedProsecutor I have prosecuted many hundreds of gun cases & dozens of tax cases, but what jumps out most for me is the report that he’s getting Pre-Trial Diversion on this count. That is unheard of. It NEVER happens.

    It means he is NOT pleading to a felony as claimed. Rather, he’s pleading to NOTHING. Diversion means he’ll need to “be a good Hunter” for a period of time, after which this count will be DISMISSED!!

    Assuming this is true, this is an abomination of justice like I’ve never seen before. Think about it – not only does he retain his freedom unlike 99% of firearm offenders, but will NOT be a felon which means he retains his2nd Am rights to own & operate that same gun or any other gun he wants.

    The vast majority of my firearm defendants served in/around 60 mos on avg, & that was a LOW sentence for many of my candidly complex litigation cartel cases, but still, jail is what gun offenders must expect in the federal system unless you are Hunter Biden.

    So yes, this defense Atty. Brad Cohen is not only making a valid point, he’s profoundly correct about the 2-tier system of justice.

    Watch – every defense atty from now on will (justifiably) demand a Hunter Plea, which this agreement will become known as forevermore…

    I’m literally embarrassed for the US Atty (he should resign) & for the AUSA’s standing this up in court, who should refuse to participate in this case unless Hunter faces what this man’s clients face every day, & what I demanded when I was on the front lines, still believing in “our system of justice”.

    Few truly understand how big a deal this is, bc they’re not in the system, but I assure you, this is monumental in all the wrong ways…

  18. New York Moving to Shield Abortion Pill Providers From Out-of-State Litigation if They Send Them to Banned States

    New York is moving to shield abortion pill providers from out-of-state litigation if they send them to people in banned states.
    The state legislature approved the bill on Tuesday, which will now head to the desk of Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul.

    If signed, the law will allow telehealth providers to send the pills to patients in states where it is restricted, as long as they comply with New York’s ultra-liberal abortion laws.

    The bill states that no New York government official “shall cooperate” with an out-of-state agency “regarding any legally protected health activity in this state.”

    According to a report from The Hill, “The bill will shield providers from out-of-state litigation by saying that New York officials will not help a state with an abortion ban that attempts to pursue legal action against a New York telemedicine provider that offers abortion to a patient living in a state

  22. Satanic Temple to Host ‘Let Us Burn’ Concerts at State Capitols in Protest of Christian Musician Sean Feucht

    The Satanic Temple is planning to host a “Let Us Burn” concert series at multiple state capitols in protest of Christian musician Sean Feucht’s ongoing “Let Us Worship” tour.
    The organization has taken issue with Feucht being permitted to perform in several state capitol buildings and is demanding that their band, Satanic Planet, be allowed to perform in them as well.

    Satanic Planet’s frontperson is also the co-founder of the Satanic Temple, Lucien Greaves.

    In a statement about the planned concerts, Greaves said that his band must be allowed to perform because “that stage is every bit as much ours as it is his.”

    “Feucht is openly a theocrat who courts the attention of politicians and seeks to proselytize through his performances,” Greaves said. “He has his opinions, and we have ours, but one thing the government can not do is preference his viewpoint over ours by giving him exclusive access to perform a concert on the Capitol grounds. That stage is every bit as much ours as it is his, so, in the name of pluralism and religious liberty, there are some state capitols that are likely soon to be hosting Satanic Planet shows.”

    The statement continued, “according to law, the government must remain neutral regarding religious viewpoints when granting permission to parties seeking to take advantage of public accommodations. For this reason, the fact that public representatives have allowed Feucht to perform openly Christian events within state capitol buildings, leaves little in the way of a legal rationale whereby Satanic Planet might be denied.”

    The band’s first single, “Baphomet,” was released in 2021. The group also features Luke Henshaw of Planet B, Sonido de la Frontera, and Justin Pearson of The Locust, Dead Cross, Swing Kids, and Deaf Club.

    During their concerts, which have drawn protests in the past, Satanic Planet performs ceremonial “unbaptisms.”

    The organization has now started a crowdfunding campaign to pay for the tour.

    “We will not be able to sell tickets to the capitol grounds, we will surely draw protests, the stage and sound will likely be difficult, and the cost will not be insignificant. That said, however, we can not stand by idly as theocratic extremists are given such an elevated public platform to spread their divisive message without reminding everybody that that stage is equally theirs as well. Feucht seeks to use the stage to announce a theocratic stranglehold over the United States government, and we seek to rectify that by re-establishing pluralism.”

    “If Satanic Planet’s request to perform is denied, the fundraiser will be put towards the legal battle that will follow,” the press release said. “Satanic Planet has already submitted a request to perform at the Indiana State Capitol on August 12th of 2023.”

    At the time of publishing, the organization had raised nearly 20 percent of its $15,000 goal.

Of course, this issue was not reported on in the mainstream media and was swept under the rug.

    “Yet another example of the Biden crime family corruption, ” said finance expert John Tabacco of Newsmax. “Taking tens of millions from Ukrainian oligarchs is bad enough. To take a half-billion dollars from hard-working America taxpayers and lining the pockets of your buddy’s companies in a no-bid contract is the definite of crony capitalism.”

    Andrew Lorenzen-Strait was a member of the Biden White House transition team. Not surprisingly, the company he works for “Endeavors” was awarded a half-billion dollars in sole source contracts to house illegal immigrants. Was the law broken in awarding this contract?
    Yesterday evening, Representative Paul Gosar of Arizona released a scathing letter to Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services demanding answers regarding this “deal” with Endeavors.

    “Shockingly, Endeavors’ $86.9 million March 2021 sole source contract was awarded shortly after hiring Andrew Lorenzen-Strait, a member of the Biden White House transition team. This creates considerable concern regarding corruption and kickbacks.

    Despite multiple red flags, including Endeavors’ lack of experience sheltering illegal alien families, the non-competitive and non-transparent process leading to it being awarded its $86.9 million March 2021 sole source contract, and the speculation of corrupt links between the Biden administration and the non-profit, Endeavors was awarded a considerably larger sole source contract worth as much as $530 million by HHS also in March 2021.

    Again, there was no factual justification to depart from normal bidding processes and to direct this contract to Endeavors.”

    Rep. Paul Gosar (Arizona) is demanding answers for the American taxpayer from the Biden Administration.

    Sole-source contracts are problematic by nature, as they evade any competitive bidding process. This paves the road for potential corruption and cronyism (which the Biden family allegedly appears to excel at). By choosing Endeavors as the sole beneficiary of this massive contract, the Biden administration is disturbingly shutting out other organizations that may be better equipped to handle the housing of illegal immigrants. It stinks of favoritism and casts doubts on the administration’s commitment to fair practices.

    “Would you expect anything less of Biden crime family?” asked Tabacco. “The American people deserve to know how and why Endeavors was selected for this lucrative contract. Without proper accountability, there is no way to ensure that taxpayer dollars are being spent responsibly and that the best interests of the American people are being upheld.”

    Mayorkas is not the brightest.
    The question of whether any laws have been broken in this process needs to be investigated by the GOP House. The Biden administration must be held accountable for any potential violations of procurement laws or other relevant regulations. *Please read Rep.     Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed a bill into law that prohibits “sexualized performances and drag shows in the presence of a minor.”
    The legislation, Senate Bill 12, passed the legislature in May with an 87-54 vote.

    The bill applies to performances containing nudity and “the exhibition or representation, actual or simulated, of sexual acts,” or performances that appeal “to the prurient interest in sex … regardless of whether compensation for the performance is expected or received.”

    Governor Abbott signed the bill into law on June 18. The law will now go into effect on September 1, 2023.

    Businesses and venues that break the law will be fined up to $10,000 per violation. Performers who violate the law can be charged with a Class A misdemeanor, which will be punishable by up to one year in jail

    I hear that the Chinese are going to add the image of Antony Blinken to the dictionary definition of “Kow Tow.” He went to Beijing, hat in hand, and received a less than warm welcome. The term “frosty” comes to mind. Blinken and his Chinese hosts engaged in a one-sided “frank exchange of views” (i.e., a phrase used by diplomats to describe a tense, angry conversation). The Chinese delivered, and Blinken ended up saying what the Chinese demanded he says — “the U.S. does not support Taiwan Independence.”

    I find it a bit hilarious. Blinken simply restated the One China Policy negotiated and implemented by Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger 51 years ago. What Blinken said has been the cornerstone of U.S. policy towards China for decades. But that is not how it was received back home in America.

    Secretary of State Antony Blinken raised eyebrows Monday, telling reporters the US “does not support Taiwan independence” after meeting in Beijing with officials including Chinese President Xi Jinping.

    Blinken’s statement ruffled the feathers of many Republicans in Congress, who viewed the statement – and the secretary’s inability to re-establish military-to-military communications – as an inappropriate kowtow to America’s greatest adversary.

    “Blinken flew to Communist China to appease Xi Jinping and state the Biden administration does not support Taiwan’s independence,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) said on Twitter. “Why won’t this administration stand up to bullies and stand for freedom?”

    So here is the situation — Blinken reaffirms the longstanding U.S. policy towards China and is attacked as a spineless shill caving to unreasonable demands by the Government of China. I feel some sympathy for Blinken (not much, just a tad), but it is his fault and the fault of the Biden Administration that Antony had to do a diplomatic backflip to try to reverse more than a year of comments referring to China as an “enemy” and Biden’s public promise to send U.S. troops to defend Taiwan.

    China was firm about what it wanted from the Biden Administration. This is a portion of what the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs released in the aftermath of the meeting:

With an attitude of being responsible to the people, history, and the world, we must reverse the downward spiral of Sino-US relations, push for a return to a healthy and stable track, and work together to find a correct way for China and the United States to get along in the new era.

    Wang Yi emphasized that the trough in Sino-US relations is rooted in the US’s erroneous perception of China, which leads to wrong policies towards China. Sino-US relations have experienced ups and downs, and it is necessary for the US to reflect deeply and work with China to jointly manage differences and avoid strategic surprises. In order for Sino-US relations to stop falling and stabilize, the top priority is to truly implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state. For China-U.S. relations to be stable and long-term, the most important thing is to follow the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation proposed by President Xi Jinping. . . .

    Wang Yi asked the US side to stop hyping up the “China threat theory”, lift illegal unilateral sanctions against China, stop suppressing China’s technological development, and refrain from wantonly interfering in China’s internal affairs. Wang Yi focused on analyzing the essence of the Taiwan issue, emphasizing that safeguarding national unity will always be the core of China’s core interests, it is the fate of all Chinese people, and it is the unswerving historical mission of the Communist Party of China. On this issue, China has no room for compromise. The US side must truly adhere to the one-China principle set out in the three Sino-US joint communiqués, respect China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and clearly oppose “Taiwan independence”.

    No warm fuzzies from Beijing in this message. It is a very typical Chinese ultimatum — I say typical because it is presented very calmly, no hyperbole but very direct. China left Blinken with two choices — reaffirm the One China Policy or prepare for a rupture in relations.

    The Chinese are in no rush to let the Biden Administration off the hook. Their refusal to re-establish military–to–military communications signaled China’s intention to wait and see if Blinken and the rest of the Biden national security team cool their rhetoric and embrace the One China Policy.

    The big problem facing Biden and his team of buffoons is that they helped poison the America political waters with toxic rhetoric portraying China as a primary enemy of the U.S. during the last two years and must now find an antidote to that venom. I do not think it is possible for them to extricate themselves from this corner. Biden and Blinken painted themselves into an inescapable place and anything they do to reverse course will be attacked as weakness and cowardice by many American politicians and citizens.

    Things are likely to heat up in the coming weeks and Biden will face growing pressure to throw Blinken under the bus. The Wall Street journal, citing current and former U.S. officials, reports:

    China and Cuba are in talks to set up a joint military training center on the island, which means the Chinese military could be on America’s doorstep.

    U.S. alleged outrage over this move by China conveniently ignores the fact that the U.S. provoked this by sending U.S. military trainers to Taiwan:

    The US government has sent around 200 soldiers to Taiwan to provide military training amid increasing tensions with China, according to a report by Taiwan News. . . . A majority of the troops sent to Taipei are from the US Army and currently stationed at new training centers and reserve brigades of the Taiwanese Armed Forces.

    Beijing is sending Washington a blunt message — anything you can do we can do better. When it comes to “tit-for-tat,” China knows how to play hardball.

    The choice America faces is stark and simple — accept the One China Policy or prepare for a war with China. There is no middle ground. I never thought I would find myself longing to have someone like Richard Nixon back in charge. Despite his tarnished Presidency, he intelligently understood that going to war with China is a recipe for national disaster.
