2.We condemn and will never recognize Russia’s illegal and illegitimate attempted annexation of Ukrainian territories, including Crimea.

    3. We particularly condemn Russia’s attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure and conflict-related sexual violence.

    5. Russia is the most significant and direct threat to our peace, security and stability. It seeks to establish spheres of influence and direct control through coercion, subversion, disinformation, aggression and illegal attempted annexations. Russia’s military build-up, including in the Baltic, Black and Mediterranean Sea regions and the High North, along with its military integration with Belarus challenges our security. Russia’s posture, disinformation and dangerous nuclear rhetoric, as well as its proven willingness to use force to pursue its political goals undermine the rules-based international order.

    9. … we call on Russia to immediately stop its war of choice and fully and unconditionally withdraw from Ukraine.

      • Hi Martin 🙂 longtime no see !

My comment on this German Foreign Minister is totally bias (I cannot stand her).

Annalena Baerbock came to this position (according to loud but unconfirmed whispers) via the Casting Couch of Merkel, who designated her originally as her successor. But, Annalena turned out to be what old fashion French men describe as “pretty, oh sooo pretty, and very dumb, yummmie”. So, Klaus Schwab, in whose school for Young Global Leaders she actually is in Year 5 , agreed to let her glamorous looks shine in this position.

Her “popularity” with the German !!! thinking !!! Volk sank even lower when she proudly declared recently in the Bundestag, that she would stand side by side with the Ukraine (and dancing coke head Zelenski) until the End, “..whatever my voters say…”.

    • DEUTSCHE PRAVDA – EU agrees on Russian oil price cap: Will it make a difference?

European Union countries have agreed to put a cap on the price of Russian oil – currently at 60 dollars a barrel. The move aims to reduce Moscow’s ability to fund its war in Ukraine with revenue from petroleum exports.

The EU joins the United States and other G7 nations in sanctioning Russian oil, which recently traded at about 65 dollars a barrel.

The measure will come into effect on Monday, and intensifies Western pressure on the Kremlin over its invasion of Ukraine. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the price cap would have a wide range of implications.

      • It won’t do much, the oil will moved to where it can be transfered to different ships and sold .

  2. Yesterday I took my kids to see a new doctor. He is a devout Christian. He just started a small clinic in a farm town south of the city. I want a doctor who serves his patients, not government edicts and politicized “medicine”.

The lovely nurse running the office has been at the profession she loves for around 30 years, I think she said. In hushed tones she recounted her experiences over the last couple of years, closing the door behind her where the receptionist was inputting data to her computer and answering the telephone. She said it wasn’t so the receptionist wouldn’t hear us, but so we didn’t distract her. I believed her because south of the city, I learned, the culture is quite different.

I started by asking if the people thought differently about things down here. “The majority are German, Dutch and eastern European ancestry. They’re very independent minded and self-sufficient. They know about communism. They say in some ways this is worse now than what they left behind.”

She said they understood, too, that government policies that will be creating food and fuel shortages will drastically effect city folk much worse than this rural area. Here they know the importance of community and derive strength from it. Most of the farmers protesting with their tractors on Parliament Hill, she said, came from this area. In fact I recalled as I was listening to her a road sign not far away that says something like: “Government Stay Off Our Land”.

She was a nurse at the local main hospital for most of her career. When the “pandemic” began she and her colleagues immediately saw the disconnect between media claims and what they were seeing first hand. They were not overwhelmed with sick people. She knew something was fishy. One of the doctors she worked with dismissed the propagated fear porn, saying the whole thing would quickly blow over. When it did not, and when the injection mandates came into the health care system, she was forced to make hard choices. She said she witnessed one of her colleagues suffered necrosis on her arm right around where the needle went in. Remember, this is not coming from a loopy nut, but from an experienced professional. She decided that she could not inflict harm on anyone, so quit. As she said, the decision was the most difficult in her life. She paid more than a financial toll for it.

At the same time one of her relatives, also a nurse, was lobbying hard for family members to be injected. This, as it has with most families, resulted in damaged relations. She was ostracized. The pro-vaxx nurse had all the weight of the msm behind her. Only now, as the smoke of Lisenko-like scientism thins from the Herculean efforts of good, vocal doctors, does she look back with a weary and not joyful sense of exoneration. She managed to convince her husband to not get it, but one of her daughters has, and for her she is worried. “But we have protocols now, you know,” she said. “But this winter will be tough.”

“It’s just starting,” she then said as we were joined in the waiting room by one of my sons. She referred to the effects of the injections. Her chin rose up and her head turned away from me. She gazed through some long lense, at some distant place through the window of her mind. “There’s a lot of pneumonia. Bad pneumonia.”

Driving home I remembered something else she said. It was that many people were injected so they could travel “I want to travel as much as the next person, but I don’t have to.”

We passed a field. At first I thought it was covered in snow, but then suddenly the snow began to lift from the ground in a spectacular launch of thousands of migrating snow geese. They were the some of the lucky ones, I guess.

    • I live in a migratory path. I see all types of bird species arrive for mating and then leave in the fall. Once, an acquaintance took me to an area with a small lake. I’ll never forget it. It was all white, covered with geese tightly packed together. Beautiful.

Military vehicles have been spotted mobilizing in Brazil as President Bolsonaro met with military leaders at a ceremony to promote new generals in Brazilía yesterday. “Martial law is coming next week”, says Brazil observer Matt Tyrmand. Elon Musk noted Twitter may have interfered with Barazilian elections.

“I have sources on the ground saying that the reservists are being activated right now, starting yesterday in smaller and mid-size cities,” journalist Matthew Tyrmand told Steve Bannon on Dec. 2. “You can already see videos of tanks being transported to strategic points and chokeholds around the country. I think by next Wednesday or Thursday, they’re going to put a letter in front of Bolsonaro and say, sign this and activate us. We believe we have to act right now, according to the constitution, and go after these (voting) machines, arrest these judges, and then the house of cards will fall.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James’s chief of staff has resigned following an investigation into allegations that he sexually harassed at least two women.
The disgraced chief of staff, Ibrahim Khan, had worked for James for nearly a decade.

One of the women accused Khan of “inappropriate touching and unwanted kissing,” according to a report from the New York Times.

After the allegations were made, James hired an independent law firm to investigate. On Friday, according to the report, at least one of the women was told that her claims about unwanted touching and kissing had been substantiated.

  9. Roubini Warns “The Mother Of All Economic Crises Looms”
    Tyler Durden’s Photo

Authored by Nouriel Roubini via Project Syndicate,

After years of ultra-loose fiscal, monetary, and credit policies and the onset of major negative supply shocks, stagflationary pressures are now putting the squeeze on a massive mountain of public- and private-sector debt. The mother of all economic crises looms, and there will be little that policymakers can do about it.

The world economy is lurching toward an unprecedented confluence of economic, financial, and debt crises, following the explosion of deficits, borrowing, and leverage in recent decades.

In the private sector, the mountain of debt includes that of households (such as mortgages, credit cards, auto loans, student loans, personal loans), businesses and corporations (bank loans, bond debt, and private debt), and the financial sector (liabilities of bank and nonbank institutions). In the public sector, it includes central, provincial, and local government bonds and other formal liabilities, as well as implicit debts such as unfunded liabilities from pay-as-you-go pension schemes and health-care systems – all of which will continue to grow as societies age.

Just looking at explicit debts, the figures are staggering. Globally, total private- and public-sector debt as a share of GDP rose from 200% in 1999 to 350% in 2021. The ratio is now 420% across advanced economies, and 330% in China. In the United States, it is 420%, which is higher than during the Great Depression and after World War II.

Of course, debt can boost economic activity if borrowers invest in new capital (machinery, homes, public infrastructure) that yields returns higher than the cost of borrowing. But much borrowing goes simply to finance consumption spending above one’s income on a persistent basis – and that is a recipe

  10. Russia Quietly Amasses ‘Shadow Fleet’ Of Tankers To Sidestep Western Restrictions
    Tyler Durden’s Photo
    BY TYLER DURDEN
    SATURDAY, DEC 03, 2022 – 08:55 AM
In an effort to dull the effect of international restrictions on its oil sales, Russia has discretely assembled a “shadow fleet” of more than 100 tankers, according to shipping brokers and industry analysts who spoke to the Financial Times.

The largely anonymous tanker purchases can be tracked by the big increase in unnamed or new buyers appearing in registries. The vessels are generally 12-15 years old and would be expected to be scrapped in the next few years, said Anoop Singh, head of tanker research at Braemar. — Financial Times

“We’ve seen quite a number of sales to unnamed buyers in recent months, and a few weeks after the sale many of these tankers pop up in Russia to take their first load of crude,” Craig Kennedy at Harvard’s Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies told the Times

The report comes as new Ukraine War-inspired Russian oil restrictions are poised to take effect. On Monday, a long-planned EU ban on seaborne oil imports from Russia will take effect. In mid-February, the import ban will extend to refined Russian products.

This week, the G-7 (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the U.K. and the U.S.) and the EU agreed to cap the price of Russian crude oil at $60 a barrel. The cap will be subject to adjustments every two months, starting in mid-January.

Of course, since the EU won’t be importing Russian oil starting on Monday, the scheme targets Russia’s global oil trade, which relies heavily on Western companies.

  11. Rolex, Patek, And Audemars Piguet Watch Prices Continue Drop As Crypto Winter Worsens

    SATURDAY, DEC 03, 2022 – 07:45 AM
Global macroeconomic headwinds increasingly mount, such as high inflation, quantitative tightening by central banks, elevated cross-asset volatility, increasing recession odds, and the Russia-Ukraine war, as the new year quickly approaches.

A few days ago, we pointed out that the newly minted crypto millionaires who panic-bought luxury vehicles are dumping Mercedes G-Wagons and McLaren supercars as crypto winter worsen with the implosion of FTX. And possibly the selling is spreading to other luxury items such as watches.

Besides fancy vehicles, fast money bought watches during the pandemic boom, and lots of them. Prices for Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet soared to astronomical levels, but as stocks, bonds, and crypto entered bear markets earlier this year, these watches began to drop in value. Earlier this year, we pointed out the top in the watch market in a note titled “Investors’ Clock Out’ Of Rolex Bull Market As Demand Cools.”

  12. Why China Sucks: It’s A Beta-Test For The New World Order
    Tyler Durden’s Photo
    BY TYLER DURDEN
    FRIDAY, DEC 02, 2022 – 10:55 PM
Authored by Brandon Smith via Alt-Market.us,

For over a decade there has been an open globalist obsession with the Chinese governmental model – A love affair, if you will. Many top proponents of global centralization including Henry Kissinger and George Soros have praised China in the past and hinted that the communist country is burgeoning into a major player within the New World Order. Soros expressed this exact sentiment way back in 2009, around the time that China began courting the IMF and issuing trillions in Yuan based treasury debt in order to join their global currency initiative.

Several years later, China was inducted into the IMF’s Special Drawing Rights basket. The CCP now avidly supports the creation of a new global currency system with the IMF in control.

This is a reality I have been writing about for many years: China does NOT stand in opposition to global centralization under the control of western oligarchs. All they want is a prominent seat at the table when the “Great Reset” kicks off and total centralization begins. But the above information only suggests an economic relationship between China and the globalists. Does the alliance go even further than that?

Recently, Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum gave an interview to the Chinese government controlled CGTN at the APEC Summit. In that interview, Schwab praises China as a role model for many other nations. This might shock some people considering China’s economy is faltering, with their global exports plunging in 2022 and their housing market in shambles. This decline is in large part due to global stagflation, but also due to their insane “zero covid” policy which has kept the nation under pandemic lockdown for years.

Remember all those covid cultists who were cheering for China last year? Remember when they claimed that China was a perfect example on why lockdowns are necessary and proof that they work? Yeah, those people were morons.

China’s economy is now in freefall with their manufacturing base under extreme stress from the mandates. Furthermore, it would appear that the Chinese populace is finally fed up with the draconian conditions and are rising up in revolt.
the video below, protests erupt at Foxconn’s flagship iPhone plant in China after workers marched out of the factory. They had been held there in quarantine against their will with poor working conditions and little food.

The Chinese government sent hazmat clad troops to put down the rebellion while stomping protesters into the ground. Take note and remember this video when you hear about Apple’s hostility to Elon Musk’s free speech policies on Twitter – Apple loves authoritarianism, as do all globalist run corporations.

China continues to terrorize the citizenry with secret police visits to vocal dissenters and fleets of drones hovering above city streets monitoring foot traffic and blaring propaganda messages. Some drones even spray unknown chemicals across entire city blocks. In the meantime, China has fully implemented digital vaccine passports systems tied to public venues and retail stores. You cannot function in a major Chinese city without an up-to-date vaccine passport or a negative covid test taken every couple of weeks.

All of these events and conditions are often treated as disconnected or coincidentally associated. No one is asking the right questions. The big question being WHY? Why is the Chinese government sabotaging its own economy with lockdowns and oppressing the population to the point of open revolt (a rarity among the normally subservient Chinese people). Why keep the lockdowns going when it is clear to the rest of the world that the pandemic is over and that the lockdowns and masks never worked to begin with?

would ask CCP officials a simple question that many of us in America also asked our own government a over a year ago: If the vaccines work, why enforce mandates and lockdowns? If it’s because the vaccines don’t work, then why try to force the population to take the jab? Beyond that, if the masks and lockdowns work, then why is China facing yet another supposed covid infection wave?

Obviously the CCP does not care about the well being of the average Chinese citizen. There is no logic to anything they are doing, just as there was no logic to anything Biden, Fauci and the CDC were doing in the US. The difference is, Americans were able to force the globalists in the US to abandon their mandate agenda, likely because we are heavily armed and they realized too many of us were non-compliant. In China, there is no civilian militia equivalent.

The country was a dystopia before, now it is something different – It is an experiment in technocratic tyranny that is being taken to the extreme. China is willing to starve, arrest, beat and even kill people who they claim they are trying to protect from the virus.

It is no mistake that nearly every policy China is implementing is a direct copy of policies suggested by the WEF and institutions like the Imperial College of London back in 2020 at the start of the outbreak. The globalists argued that “we are not going back to normal” and that the public would have to sacrifice many of our freedoms in order to stop the pandemic. In reality, none of their policies were effective in stopping the spread, but they were very effective at suppressing the populace. And in the case of China, nothing did ever go back to normal.

The unspoken rationale, in my view, connects directly back to China’s long term relationship to the globalists and their desire to be a part of the New World Order, also referred to as the “multipolar world order”, the 4th Industrial Revolution, the Great Reset and a dozen other names. If you want to know the real globalist vision for the future, take a look at China today and then multiply the pain and suffering another hundred fold. China is a beta test.

Perhaps it’s a test to see what level of tyranny people are willing to endure. Maybe a test of the functionality of different surveillance systems and control mechanisms. Maybe a practice run for the inevitable riots and rebellion that would occur in numerous countries and the best way to deal with them. Globalists like Klaus Schwab are not only interest in China as an economic role model, he sees China as a societal role model for much of the west, with some tweaks here and there.

The problem for the establishment is that if there are visible examples of freedom despite covid, then other nations will start to question the necessity of their own lockdowns. Even the Chinese people are starting to fight back. They can’t implement their NWO one country at a time, they will have to oppress many countries at once.

As I have been saying for the past year to some of the more nihilistic people in the liberty movement who think all it lost, understand that you are lucky to be living in the US right now and you should be thankful for the millions of conservatives that actively and vocally refused to comply with the mandates and vaccines. They saved the country from greater tyranny. If the globalists had got what they really wanted, we would look a lot like China right now.

We hovered close to that black sun and danced with the devil, but we are not beaten.
it stands, China continues to represent a model of authoritarian dreams; a research study in mass psychological torture. Far from being a counter-point to the globalists, it is actually a globalist work in progress. Watch what happens there closely, because the evils perpetrated there will eventually be attempted here at home.

  16. New B-21 stealth bomber is unveiled: What did we see?
The aircraft has been shrouded in secrecy for years.

    ByLuis Martinez
    December 2, 2022

The big reveal for the new B-21 Raider stealth bomber finally took place Friday night in a glitzy unveiling worthy of a Hollywood production as the aircraft was rolled out of a California hangar, but every effort was made to ensure that details about the new aircraft will continue to remain shrouded in secrecy.

Taking place under the cover of night, the plane emerged slowly from the hangar bathed in dramatic blue lighting that did not reveal much beyond the plane’s similar shape to the B-2 stealth bomber it is intended to replace.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was among the 600 VIP’s and 2,000 Northrop Grumman employees, who have worked on the new bomber for the past seven years, on hand for the big reveal at Northrop Grumman’s Plant 42 in

      • They are both Strategic and tactical weapons.

Heavy bombers aren’t used for close combat support, they are used to destroy strategic infrastructure. This degrades the enemies ability to move troops and supplies. Look at how Russia is using missiles to degrade the Ukrainian power grid.

The bombers also gives flexibility to the targeting, something the missiles don’t have.

  17. Kevin McCarthy Gets It Right on Communist China Protests
Those struggling to breathe free will suffocate under the totalitarian yoke if an American president is compromised by the enemies of liberty.

Finally, it appears the “Zero COVID lockdown” protests roiling the People’s Republic of China have brought some among America’s political class to the long overdue realization the Chinese Communist Party is an enemy of the Chinese people, the American people, and all free and yet-to-be free people across the globe.

As Breitbart’s Joshua Klein reported on November 29, despite Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party’s bloodthirsty dictatorship, there is transpiring

. . . a wave of protests over the weekend in the country’s largest cities involving hundreds, or possibly thousands, of citizens demanding an end to extensive use of house arrest to contain citizens potentially exposed to the virus, the shipment of thousands to unsanitary and repressive quarantine camps, routine government testing, and the mass shutdown of businesses.

Current House Minority Leader (and presumed next Speaker) U.S. Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has assessed the situation and gotten it right, supporting the Chinese people in their calls for freedom from the regime’s lockdowns, dictator Xi Jinping, and the entire Chinese Communist Party.

On Twitter, Leader McCarthy denounced the communist regime and issued a vow:

e Chinese Communist Party’s lockdowns have imprisoned people against their will—many have died. As Chinese citizens bravely protest, Joe Biden & the corporate class shrug.

  18. Huge floods will lead to enormous hunger in Africa
By LU Staff December 3, 2022

Massive floods have destroyed thousands of square miles of crops in central and Western Africa, leaving inhabitants with inadequate food stocks for the coming year. In the central African nation of Cameroon, Souloukna Mourga is wading through his flooded cotton and millet fields, uprooting soggy stems. His 15 acres of mostly dead crops are under water.

Mourga has 12 children who rely on him. He is one of four million people, most of them subsistence farmers, across a dozen nations who have witnessed their crops destroyed by severe flooding.

Floods have destroyed this season’s harvest, while 2.5 million acres of farmland across central and western Africa remains under water. Soil nutrients have been leeched away by sudden flooding, setting the stage for an even smaller harvest next season.

Around Mourga’s farm in Dana village on the floodplain of the Logone River between the nations of Cameroon and Chad, thousands of acres of crops and dotted huts in villages are still under water.

now-retired Maine state trooper has been awarded $300,000 in a lawsuit after facing retaliation for blowing the whistle on a state police division that was gathering intelligence on several groups of people, including gun owners.
George Loder, 53, had filed a lawsuit over retaliation he faced when he went to his superiors with concerns about the intelligence operation.

Aside from gun owners, the division was working with the Maine Information and Analysis Center in Augusta to collect intelligence on power line protesters and employees at a camp for Israeli and Arab teens.

None of the people targeted for surveillance were engaged in illegal activity, according to the whistleblower.

  21. Censorship by surrogate: Why Musk’s document dump could be a game changer
BY JONATHAN TURLEY, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR 12/03/22 10:30 AM ET

Handled.” That one word, responding to a 2020 demand to censor a list of Twitter users, speaks volumes about the thousands of documents released by Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, on Friday night. As many of us have long suspected, there were back channels between Twitter and the Biden 2020 presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to ban critics or remove negative stories. Those seeking to discuss the scandal were simply “handled,” and nothing else had to be said.

Ultimately, the New York Post was suspended from Twitter for reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop scandal. Twitter even blocked users from sharing the Post’s story by using a tool designed for child pornography. Even Trump White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany was

Twitter’s ex-safety chief, Yoel Roth, later said the decision was a “mistake” but the story “set off every single one of my finely tuned APT28 hack and leak campaign alarm bells.” The reference to the APT28 Russian disinformation operation dovetailed with false claims of former U.S. intelligence officers that the laptop was “classic disinformation.”

The Russian disinformation claim was never particularly credible. The Biden campaign never denied the laptop was Hunter Biden’s; it left that to its media allies. Moreover, recipients of key emails could confirm those communications, and U.S. intelligence quickly rejected the Russian disinformation claim.

The point is, there was no direct evidence of a hack or a Russian conspiracy. Even Roth subsequently admitted he and others did not believe a clear basis existed to block the story, but they did so anyway.

  22. Judicial Watch: Secret Service Has Repeatedly Changed Story on Existence of Hunter Biden Gun Records

Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that the United States Secret Service has repeatedly changed its position about whether it is in possession of records related to the investigation of Hunter Biden’s gun, reportedly disposed of in a dumpster in Delaware. The Secret Service now says it now located over 100 records, totaling over 400 pages and will complete its initial processing of the records by January 9, 2023.

Judicial Watch is investigating whether and how the Secret Service intervened for Hunter Biden in an incident involving a gun allegedly owned by him. In September, Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit for records or communications about the reported purchase, possession, and disposal of a firearm owned by Hunter Biden found in a Delaware dumpster in October 2018 (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security (No. 1:22-cv-02841)).

US House member Lauren Boebert told creepy and corrupt old Nancy Pelosi that she was fired by the American people.

No Congressman has done more to destroy this country than Nancy Pelosi. She pushed through spending bills that will never be repaid. She lied every time she opened her mouth and thereby destroying the image of the House. She said terrible lies about President Trump and then set up and arrested his followers for made-up crimes.

the end of her term her husband, who’s benefited tremendously from insider tips from Pelosi, got caught with a man in his house and claimed the man had broken into the house and made it to his bedroom without any of the multiple individuals and services knowing.

Americans had enough of creepy old Nancy Pelosi and her crooked husband Paul.

  24. Ukrainian military casualties are big trouble for Biden
Ukraine has likely lost 100,000 soldiers who won’t readily be replaced while US arms deliveries are depleting stocks and exposing security holes in Asia

In a shocking statement that has now been withdrawn, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote that Ukraine has lost 100,000 soldiers and 20,000 civilians in the Ukraine war.

This conforms to comments made by US Joint Chief of Staff head General Mark Milley, who in a speech at a conference hosted by New York’s Economic Club said that more than 100,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in the war and that the number of troop casualties is probably the “same” for Ukraine’s army.

Ukraine’s heavy casualties are a signal that Washington’s de facto war with Russia is in trouble. President Joe Biden has to change direction or face a national security crisis that could end his presidency.

Ukraine may look as if it were winning. The truth is the opposite because Ukraine is running out of manpower it cannot replace. It is losing by attrition on the battlefield and, with the Russians systematically destroying its infrastructure, millions of Ukrainians have fled abroad. It is unlikely the country could recover even if the war should end tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Russia’s manpower problems are less severe. Moscow has been replenishing its supply of front-line troops through an unpopular conscription program at home that has now been extended to the territories in Ukraine that it occupies.

Russia’s proxy army, the Wagner Group, also has been significantly enlarged from 8,000 last April to nearly 40,000 now. Many Wagner Group fighters have been recruited from Russian prisons and some have been brought in from other countries, especially the Middle East and Africa.

Ukrainian estimates the number of Wagner Group casualties at between 800 and 1,000; others put them at 3,000.

Among the most stunning bits of information that have recently surfaced, reports in Poland say that around 1,200 Polish “volunteers” have been killed in Ukraine. These appear to have been drawn from Poland’s active land army, which consists of three main divisions.

The Polish army is composed of 61,200 soldiers and support personnel. It is unlikely Poland will commit many more troops given the high casualties and the risk that Russia will strike Poland in retaliation.

The most recent estimate of the Ukraine land army’s fighting strength is 198,000 troops. Given the alarmingly high casualty rates, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is facing a genuine crisis if the war drags on much longer.

Russia has recently focused on destroying Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and Ukrainian command posts, and equally on liquidating to the degree possible Ukraine’s high-value weapons, particularly precision rocket systems such as HIMARS, air defense units and Ukrainian artillery.

The battlefield casualties on the Ukrainian side appear to be largely the result of Russian heavy artillery that is being coordinated by Russian drones, most of them variants of the Orlan-10.

Russia has also made progress by improving its command and control and leadership in the field. The Russians pulled back strategically from Kherson in order to preserve manpower and organize better defensive positions.

Most of the heavy fighting now appears to be taking place in and around Bakhmut, where Russian and local troops seem to be making slow but steady progress. That battle is chewing up Ukrainian reserves and has cost Ukraine large amounts of ammunition that cannot readily be replaced.

The Europeans have made clear that their resources have diminished to a critical level and that continuing to supply Ukraine may not be possible. The US is also facing an empty cupboard, especially regarding important high-tech systems such as HIMARS, antitank weapons such as Javelin and MANPADS including Stinger.

The US also is short on conventional ammunition, including 155mm shells. Worse still, the emptying of vital war stocks has delayed deliveries of supplies to Taiwan and created vacuum opportunities for China should it choose to strike Taiwan.

Taiwan is not getting HIMARS, or long-range artillery, or even F-16V jets, whose manufacture has been strangely delayed for some years. In a recent exercise in Japan, the US Marines flew in a HIMARS but did not fire it because of rocket shortages.

At some point, Congress may start asking questions such as why the administration risked US security for Ukraine. It is abundantly clear the US Congress can’t keep voting for billions of dollars worth of weapons for Ukraine when the US itself lacks the arms and can’t support its vital interests elsewhere

The bottom line in Ukraine is that Zelensky may be unable either to sustain and replenish his war materials or to make up for his lost troops. While the Ukrainian government has been actively censoring war information (which is not at all surprising; von der Leyen is the latest victim), it’s clear that the noose is tightening.

Meanwhile, the degradation of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure may fuel an even greater exodus from the country, as people look for warmth and shelter and young people also dodge the draft.

Russia, as is by now well known, also has serious problems both in recruiting and training soldiers, and its ability to replace weapons. But Russia also has huge war stocks it acquired before the downfall of the Soviet Union, and it is now bringing some of them to bear in the Ukraine war.

It is extremely hard to judge Russian staying power since objecting to the war or criticizing the army can land the outspoken in prison. Even so, there does not yet appear to be an internal anti-war movement with enough credibility to drive Russian leaders to back off. Russia will stay in the war through the winter and perhaps longer, guessing that it can fracture NATO and humiliate the United States – which is Russia’s real goal now.

In Washington, President Biden benefits, at least for now, from showing that he is a strong leader who can “fight the good fight,” albeit using Ukrainians as proxies. But as winter falls on Europe, with a looming energy crisis and serious financial problems, it is hard for Biden to be comfortable with the risk that, one bright day, the entire enterprise crashes and burns.

Biden wants to run for president again in 2024 and thinks he can win the same way he won in 2020. But that may not be the case if his war goes belly-up, if Europe moves in another direction or if real trouble comes in Asia focused on Taiwan or even Korea.

Biden cannot survive a crisis over who lost Europe, who lost Taiwan, or who lost Korea. To be credible and remain in office, Biden must change direction on Ukraine and security, and soon.

  25. San Francisco Is The Canary In The Coal Mine For Where Wokeism Is Headed
    Tyler Durden’s Photo
    BY TYLER DURDEN
    SATURDAY, DEC 03, 2022 – 07:30 PM
Authored by Alan Dershowitz, op-ed via The Daily Caller,

The City of San Francisco is constitutionally prohibited from disqualifying job applicants on the basis of race. That is precisely what occurred to John Arntz who has held the job of San Francisco’s director of the Department of Elections for two decades.

performance at this increasingly important job – important because of so many election challenges and doubts. Just two years ago, the election commission commended him for his “incredible leadership.”

But now they are essentially firing him because he is apparently of the wrong race to satisfy their “racial equity plan”.

This is what he was told:

“Our decision wasn’t about your performance, but after twenty years we wanted to take action on the City’s racial equity plan and give people an opportunity to compete for a leadership position.”

The mayor of San Francisco, London Breed, disagreed:

“John Arntz has served San Francisco with integrity, professionalism and has stayed completely independent. He’s remained impartial and has avoided getting caught up in the web of City politics, which is what we are seeing now as a result of this unnecessary vote.”

“Over the last year John successfully ran four elections while navigating a pandemic that thwarted San Francisco into crisis response – all without a single issue. Rather than working on key issues to recover and rebuilt our City, this is a good example of unfair politicization of a key part of our government that is working well for the voters of this city.”

All of the 12 managers in his department asked that his contract be renewed. But in today’s woke world of identity politics, race trumps meritocracy. “Racial equity” plans are apparently more important than electoral integrity
good as or better than him. There are, after all, highly qualified people of all races and backgrounds. But that is not the point. His contract would clearly have been renewed — he would not have been fired — if he were of an “acceptable” race.

But he is not, because he does not meet the criteria for the city’s “racial equity plan.”

To cover their legal rear ends (“CYA”) the panel has said that Arntz can “reapply” and be considered among the pool of candidates who do meet the criteria of racial equity, even though he does not! This “CYA” tactic does not even pass the giggle test.

It certainly does not pass the constitutional test, even the one that currently allows universities to place the thumb of racial diversity on the scale of admissions. That test is likely to be changed — perhaps disallowed — even in the context of private universities such as Harvard.

There is one important benefit to the San Francisco decision — at least as compared to university admissions decisions. The San Francisco panel did not try to disguise the racial criteria they are employing, whereas most universities go to great length to deny that race alone is often a dispositive factor in ranking applicants.

This will make it easier for the courts to hold San Francisco’s Arntz decision as a clear violation of the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment.

But even if this particularly outrageous decision is struck down as unconstitutional, many cities and other governmental units will continue to use race as a basis for hiring and firing employees. They will simply be less transparent about it than San Francisco was.

In the bad old days, race was often used to discriminate against black applicants. Today race is often used to discriminate in favor of black applicants. I guess that is some sort of progress. But real progress will be achieved only if and when race is no longer a factor that trumps meritocracy.

Only then will Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream of how his children and ours should be judged become a reality
