Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. WASHINGTON (AP) — A retired New York Police Department officer was sentenced on Thursday to a record-setting 10 years in prison for attacking the U.S. Capitol and using a metal flagpole to assault one of the police officers trying to hold off a mob of Donald Trump supporters.

    Thomas Webster’s prison sentence is the longest so far among roughly 250 people who have been punished for their conduct during the riot on Jan. 6, 2021. The previous longest was shared by two other rioters, who were sentenced separately to seven years and three months in prison.

    Webster, a 20-year NYPD veteran, was the first Capitol riot defendant to be tried on an assault charge and the first to present a self-defense argument. A jury rejected Webster’s claim that he was defending himself when he tackled Metropolitan Police Department officer Noah Rathbun and grabbed his gas mask outside the Capitol on Jan. 6.

    U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta sentenced Webster, 56, to 10 years in prison plus three years of supervised release. He allowed Webster to report to prison at a date to be determined instead of immediately ordering him into custody.

    “Mr. Webster, I don’t think you’re a bad person,” the judge said. “I think you were caught up in a moment. But as you know, even getting caught up in a moment has consequences.”

    Officials within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) sent emails to employees at Facebook and Twitter to flag instances of alleged misinformation and provide talking points to counter allegedly false narratives spreading on the platforms.

    I usually prefer to stay away from the ancillary stuff, but the remarks by Joe Biden today were not normal, not even close.

    Every national address by a president has a massive advance team checking every detail of a venue before broadcast. The optics they put together for Biden’s “battle for the soul of a nation” speech tonight, was just plain creepy and weird. I mean think about it, what does this imagery present when discussing the theme of battling for the soul of a nation?

    These are not modified images or changes in presentation; they are exactly what was broadcast to the nation. It looks straight up evil. Like something out of a hellscape theatrical production intended to showcase Baal as the “soul of the nation.”

    On one hand, this is the realistic tone of the Biden administration. But on the other hand, you would not expect to see this harsh dictatorship enhanced with the backdrop to give it such angered imagery. I have never seen anything even close to this in a presidential address. Beyond creepy.

This was a highly coordinated operation.

    The Russian Ministry of Defense provides an accurate summary of the action:

    On the morning of September 1, the Kiev regime attempted a major provocation to disrupt the arrival of IAEA expert working group at Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

    At 6:20 a.m., seven fast-moving motorboats landed on the coast of Kakhovskoye reservoir, three kilometres northeast of Zaporozhye NPP, with two sabotage groups of up to 60 people in total.

    The sabotage groups were detected and blocked in the drop-off area by Russian National Guard units guarding the territory of Zaporozhye NPP.

    A unit of the Russian Armed Forces and helicopters of the army aviation arrived to reinforce Russian Guard troops in order to suppress an attempt to enter the nuclear power plant and destroy Ukrainian saboteurs.

    At about 7:00 a.m., units of the Russian Armed Forces prevented another attempted landing to seize a nuclear power plant.

    A few kilometres from Zaporozhye NPP near Vodyanoye, an attempt was made to land a tactical airborne assault by AFU two self-propelled barges from Nikopol. Two self-propelled barges carrying tactical airborne assault of AFU are sunk as a result of the Russian Armed Forces’ shelling.

    As of 8:00 a.m., the Kiev regime has blocked the passage of IAEA expert mission from controlled territory to Zaporozhye NPP.

    Ukrainian artillery is shelling the territory of Zaporozhye NPP, the meeting place of IAEA mission with Russian specialists near Vasil’evka, as well as the route of their movement to Energodar. Four shells exploded 400 metres from the 1st unit of Zaporozhye NPP.

        MEDVEDEV WARNS THAT “THERE WILL BE NO RUSSIAN GAS” IF FUEL IS CAPPED

        The deputy head of the Russian Security Council and former president of the country, Dmitri Medvedev, warned this Friday that “there will be no Russian gas” in Europe if the Twenty-seven put a cap on the price of fuel amid debates to do the same with oil.

        “The same thing will happen with oil, there will simply be no Russian gas in Europe,” Medvedev wrote on Telegram.

        The president of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, proposed this Friday to set a price cap for Russian gas that is exported to Europe through the various gas pipelines, and reiterated the idea of ??decoupling the price of electricity from the gas price.

        “I firmly believe that the time has come to set a maximum price for gas exported to Europe through Russian pipelines,” Von der Leyen said in an intervention before the joint parliamentary group of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) in Murnau (southern Germany).

        Von der Leyen’s remarks come as Western countries discuss introducing caps on the price of Russian oil.

        The finance ministers of the G7 reiterated this Friday their purpose of gathering the necessary support to impose a cap on the price of Russian crude.

        As Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said today, those countries that support this initiative will stop receiving Russian oil.

        “We are simply not going to cooperate with them based on principles that are foreign to the market”said.

        Medvedev had previously forecast a price of 5,000 euros per thousand cubic meters of gas by the end of the year.

        “Due to the increase in gas prices up to 3,500 euros per thousand cubic meters, I am forced to revise upwards the projected cost to 5,000 euros by the end of 2022”, the politician said.

        Due to rising prices, even with the current reduction in Russian supply to the European Union, the Russian state can earn US$20 billion in a quarter from gas exports, according to expert calculations.

        The governments of several EU countries have announced energy saving programs in the face of the dramatic increase in gas prices, which stood at around US$2,500 at the end of the week.

        Gazprom said the leak was found at the main gas turbine at the Portovaya compressor station near St Petersburg. On Telegram, Gazprom published a picture of cables covered in a brown liquid and claiming it was a consequence of the defect the state-owned firm had detected.
