Reader’s Links for August 17th, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

Pfizer document dump ordered by a judge to be released pursuant to FOIA showed that 44% of pregnant women in the COVID-19 vaccine trial lost their babies.

That’s significantly above normal miscarriage rate.

FDA & CDC told pregnant women to take the shot.

Massacre: Nearly Half of Pregnant Women in Pfizer Trial Miscarried

According to Dr. Naomi Wolf, who runs a crowdsourced project to analyze 300,000 Pfizer documents released via a FOIA request, 44 percent of pregnant women who participated in the drug maker’s COVID-19 vaccine trial lost their babies.

As first reported by American Greatness, research released by feminist activist and author Dr. Naomi Wolf through her website The Daily Clout indicates that 44 percent of pregnant women in Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine trial lost their babies.

Wolf, who runs a crowd-sourced analysis project of 300,000 pages of Pfizer documents ordered released in a January ruling by U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman of the Northern District of Texas, appeared on Steve Bannon’s show “War Room” on Tuesday.

“Women will understand how tragic this is. Pfizer took those deaths of babies, those spontaneous abortions and miscarriages, and recategorized them as ‘recovered result adverse effects.’ In other words, if you lost your baby, it was categorized by Pfizer as a resolved adverse event, like a headache that got better,” Wolf told Bannon in an emotional interview.

She explained that as far as she knew, the documents released through a Freedom of Information Act request did not include emails and other communications between Pfizer and other entities or officials, such as the Food and Drug Administration and Dr. Anthony Fauci.

On its website, the CDC still recommends that pregnant women get vaccinated:

“COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for all people 6 months and older. This includes people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to get pregnant now, or might become pregnant in the future. CDC also recommends COVID-19 vaccines for infants 6 months and older who’s [sic] mother was vaccinated or had a COVID infection before or while pregnant.”

Tech millionaire Steve Kirsch, founder of Vaccine Safety Research Foundation, claimed in a post on Monday that around 12 million people worldwide have been “killed by their governments” as a result of taking one of the COVID-19 vaccines.

W.H.O. – People infected with monkeypox should stay away from household pets

Dr. Rosamund Lewis, the World Health Emergencies programme’s technical lead for monkeypox, cautioned Wednesday that people infected with monkeypox should make the effort to isolate themselves not only from other people but also their pets to avoid potential human-to-animal transmission.

The advice came after the medical journal Lancet reported an Italian greyhound caught the virus. According to the journal, the dog belongs to a couple who sleeps alongside the animal.

Lewis also said in addition to isolation, people infected should practice proper waste management to avoid the possible risk of contamination of animals outside the household, for example through rodents accessing garbage. She stressed while the risks have been hypothetical and theoretical, it was important communication to give to protect pets and prevent animals in general from monkeypox exposure.

A Capuchin monkey at a California zoo dialed 911 on a cellphone, prompting San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office deputies to respond to the scene.

They quickly found that none of the humans at Zoo to You near Paso Robles had made the call — and eventually figured out that a monkey named Route was behind it, officials said.

“Apparently, Route had picked up the zoo’s cell phone… which was in the zoo’s golf cart… which is used to travel around the zoo’s 40 acre site,” the sheriff’s department said in a Facebook post.

  5. sky news UK – RAF ‘pauses job offers for white men’ to meet ‘impossible’ diversity targets

The alleged move has prompted the head of recruitment for the Royal Air Force (RAF) – herself a senior female officer – to resign in recent days in protest.

The head of RAF recruitment has resigned in protest at an “effective pause” on offering jobs to white male recruits in favour of women and ethnic minorities, defence sources have claimed.

The senior female officer apparently handed in her notice in recent days amid concerns that any such restrictions on hiring, however temporary and limited, could undermine the fighting strength of the Royal Air Force (RAF), the sources said.

They said the service was attempting to hit “impossible” diversity targets.

The defence sources accused Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston, the head of the RAF, of appearing willing to compromise UK security at a time of growing threats from Russia and China in pursuit of albeit important goals such as improving diversity and inclusion.

One of the defence sources noted how General Sir Patrick Sanders, the head of the army, has likened today’s security challenges to those in the build-up to the Second World War, warning that the UK is facing its “1937 moment”.

“Then you look at the head of the RAF and he’s prepared to break the operational requirement of the air force just to meet diversity [targets],” the source said.

“I think he needs to be hauled up by the Ministry of Defence and told: This is the defence agenda, get on it.”

The recruitment claims prompted a response from Rishi Sunak, one of the two contenders vying to be the UK’s next prime minister.

A spokesperson for the Sunak leadership campaign said: “The only thing that should matter in recruitment is the content of your character, not your sex or the colour of your skin.

“That the Ministry of Defence would allow Britain’s security to potentially be put at risk by a drive for so-called ‘diversity’ is not only disgraceful, it is dangerous.”

An RAF spokesperson disputed the allegations.

“There is no pause in Royal Air Force recruitment and no new policy with regards to meeting in-year recruitment requirements,” the spokesperson said.

“Royal Air Force commanders will not shy away from the challenges we face building a service that attracts and recruits talent from every part of the UK workforce.

“As with the Royal Navy and British Army, we are doing everything we can to encourage recruiting from under-represented groups and ensure we have a diverse workforce.

“The Royal Air Force has a well-earned reputation for operational excellence that is founded on the quality of all our people. We will always seek to recruit the best talent available to us”.

But another of the defence sources insisted that there has been an “effective pause” on making an offer of employment to white male recruits.

Also responding to questions from Sky News on the issue, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence said: “Operational effectiveness is of paramount importance and no one is lowering the standards to join the Royal Air Force. The RAF recruits for many professions and, like the rest of the armed forces, is determined to be a force that reflects the society it serves to protect.”

Neither spokesperson addressed the resignation of the head of RAF recruitment.

The RAF does not typically comment on individuals.

    ‘Wokefulness’ or ‘Woefulness’

Successive governments have been challenging all three armed services – the RAF, the army and the Royal Navy – for years to improve their diversity statistics in what has traditionally been a predominantly white, male profession.

It is a goal championed by defence chiefs.

Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the head of the armed forces, used his first public speech in-post last December to stress the importance of striving for better diversity.

He said this was not “about wokefulness. It is about woefulness. The woefulness of too few women. The woefulness of not reflecting the ethnic, religious and cognitive diversity of our nation.”

The MOD has announced it aims to increase the ratio of female recruits coming into the armed forces in general to 30% by 2030 from around 12%.

The RAF – which was the first of the services to open all roles to women and already has the highest ratio of females – is aiming to go further. It wants the ratio of female air force recruits to hit 40% by the end of the decade – more than double the current level.

The target for ethnic minorities is to reach 20% of all air force recruits within the same timeframe, up from around 10%.

Yet the RAF must also hire enough people in the right trades to meet its “operational inflow requirements” – the number of new personnel needed to ensure the service can carry out the full range of tasks it has been given to help keep the UK and its allies safe.

A challenge thought to be encountered by recruitment officers is that women and ethnic minorities do not typically seek to join certain areas of the service, such as the RAF’s infantry force that protects airfields. Hiring white men who may apply ensures those vital roles are filled, but at the expense of diversity numbers.

‘Levels of ambition for ethnic targets… are absolutely crazy’

Senior leaders appear to be prioritising diversity over operational needs, according to defence sources.

They said the RAF’s recruitment arm has effectively been told to take a pause on offering jobs to white male recruits in the hope that more slots can be filled by women and ethnic minorities during this financial year.

“We are all really pro-diversity and we want to see better representation across the services but … levels of ambition for ethnic targets … are absolutely crazy,” one of the sources said.

“There is no scientific or cultural background to these particular levels of ambition.”

Another source called the diversity targets “impossible”.

The push appears to have prompted the Head of Recruitment and Selection – a Group Captain – to hand in her notice, unwilling to carry out such a demand, the defence sources said.

More broadly, there seems to be a growing sense of frustration within the RAF at what some personnel privately – and on occasion publicly – allege is an overly “woke” agenda being pursued by the Chief of the Air Staff at the expense of other priorities.

The defence sources noted how under his tenure since 2019, the RAF has taken steps to be more inclusive, such as changing the term for a member of the service to “aviator” from “airman”, embracing gender-specific or gender-neutral pronouns in signatures and allowing staff to grow beards.

    Flying training in crisis

But at the same time the military’s flying training system – a fundamental part of a functioning air force – is in crisis, as revealed by Sky News earlier this month.

Hundreds of junior pilots are either waiting for slots on courses to open up or taking refresher courses even though Ben Wallace, the defence secretary, gave Air Chief Marshal Wigston the task of fixing flying training as his “only priority” more than two and a half years ago.

The RAF itself triggered a rare public display of internal tension last weekend.

It posted its response to Sky News’s reporting on the military flying training “shambles” on the air force’s official Facebook page, defending the RAF’s record.

“Our people are our greatest asset and we’re committed to ensuring we attract and retain the best and brightest talent to meet current and future threats,” the post said. It acknowledged challenges with the training pipeline but said work is underway to improve things.

The comment prompted a number of incredulous responses from readers.

“Is this post from a parallel universe or something?” one respondent asked.

Another said: “If you want retention then you need to drastically change things at all levels within the RAF. Your people are your greatest asset. Start treating them that way.”

After a few more unfriendly jibes, the RAF quietly deleted its own post.

  12. the guardian –Saudi woman given 34-year prison sentence for using Twitter

Salma al-Shehab, a Leeds University student, was charged with following and retweeting dissidents and activists

A Saudi student at Leeds University who had returned home to the kingdom for a holiday has been sentenced to 34 years in prison for having a Twitter account and for following and retweeting dissidents and activists.

The sentencing by Saudi’s special terrorist court was handed down weeks after the US president Joe Biden’s visit to Saudi Arabia, which human rights activists had warned could embolden the kingdom to escalate its crackdown on dissidents and other pro-democracy activists.

The case also marks the latest example of how the crown prince Mohammed bin Salman has targeted Twitter users in his campaign of repression, while simultaneously controlling a major indirect stake in the US social media company through Saudi’s sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Salma al-Shehab, 34, a mother of two young children, was initially sentenced to serve three years in prison for the “crime” of using an internet website to “cause public unrest and destabilise civil and national security”. But an appeals court on Monday handed down the new sentence – 34 years in prison followed by a 34-year travel ban – after a public prosecutor asked the court to consider other alleged crimes.

According to a translation of the court records, which were seen by the Guardian, the new charges include the allegation that Shehab was “assisting those who seek to cause public unrest and destabilise civil and national security by following their Twitter accounts” and by re-tweeting their tweets. It is believed that Shehab may still be able to seek a new appeal in the case.

By all accounts, Shehab was not a leading or especially vocal Saudi activist, either inside the kingdom or in the UK. She described herself on Instagram – where she had 159 followers – as a dental hygienist, medical educator, PhD student at Leeds University and lecturer at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, and as a wife and a mother to her sons, Noah and Adam.

Her Twitter profile showed she had 2,597 followers. Among tweets about Covid burnout and pictures of her young children, Shehab sometimes retweeted tweets by Saudi dissidents living in exile, which called for the release of political prisoners in the kingdom. She seemed to support the case of Loujain al-Hathloul, a prominent Saudi feminist activist who was previously imprisoned, is alleged to have been tortured for supporting driving rights for women, and is now living under a travel ban.

One person who knew Shehab said she could not stomach injustice. She was described as well-educated and an avid reader who had arrived in the UK in 2018 or 2019 to pursue her PhD at Leeds. She had returned home to Saudi Arabia in December 2020 on a holiday and had intended to bring her two children and husband back to the UK with her. She was then called in for questioning by Saudi authorities and eventually arrested and tried for her tweets.

A person who followed her case said Shehab had at times been held in solitary confinement and had sought during her trial to privately tell the judge something about how she had been handled, which she did not want to state in front of her father. She was not permitted to communicate the message to the judge, the person said. The appeals verdict was signed by three judges but the signatures were illegible.

Twitter declined to comment on the case and did not respond to specific questions about what – if any – influence Saudi Arabia has over the company. Twitter previously did not respond to questions by the Guardian about why a senior aide to Prince Mohammed, Bader al-Asaker, has been allowed to keep a verified Twitter account with more than 2 million followers, despite US government allegations that he orchestrated an illegal infiltration of the company which led anonymous Twitter users to be identified and jailed by the Saudi government. One former Twitter employee has been convicted by a US court in connection to the case.

One of Twitter’s biggest investors is the Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who owns more than 5% of Twitter through his investment company, Kingdom Holdings. While Prince Alwaleed still serves as chairman of the company, his control over the group faced questions in the US media, including the Wall Street Journal, after it emerged that the Saudi royal – a cousin of the crown prince – had been held captive at the Ritz Carlton in Riyadh for 83 days. The incident was part of a broader purge led by Prince Mohammed against other members of the royal family and businessmen, and involved allegations of torture, coercion and expropriation of billions in assets into Saudi coffers.

In a 2018 Bloomberg interview of Prince Alwaleed, which was conducted in Riyadh seven weeks after his release, the billionaire acknowledged he had reached a “confirmed understanding” with the Saudi government, apparently in connection to his release, which was confidential.

More recently, Kingdom Holding announced in May that it had sold about 17% of its company to the PIF, where Prince Mohammed serves as chairman, for $1.5bn. That, in turn, makes the Saudi government a significant indirect investor in Twitter. According to Twitter, investors do not play a role in managing the company’s day-to-day business.

The European Saudi Organization for Human Rights condemned Shehab’s sentence, which it said was the longest prison sentence to ever be brought against any activist. It noted that many female activists have been subjected to unfair trials that have led to arbitrary sentences and have been subjected to “severe torture”, including sexual harassment.

Khalid Aljabri, a Saudi who is living in exile and whose sister and brother are being held in the kingdom, said the Shehab case proved Saudi Arabia’s view that dissent equates to terrorism.

“Salma’s draconian sentencing in a terrorism court over peaceful tweets is the latest manifestation of MBS’s ruthless repression machine,” he said, referring to the crown prince. “Just like [journalist Jamal] Khashoggi’s assassination, her sentencing is intended to send shock waves inside and outside the kingdom – dare to criticise MBS and you will end up dismembered or in Saudi dungeons.”

While the case has not received widespread attention, the Washington Post on Tuesday published a scathing editorial about Saudi Arabia’s treatment of the Leeds student and said her case showed that “commitments” the president had received on reforms were “a farce”.

“At the very least, Mr. Biden must now speak out forcefully and demand that Ms. Shehab be released and allowed to return to her sons, 4 and 6 years old, in the United Kingdom, and to resume her studies there,” it read.

  13. In Its War On Trump And Wrongthink, The Regime Just Delivered A Death Blow To Rule Of Law
    AUGUST 17, 2022
    6 MIN READ

The regime is cracking down on wrongthink and criminalizing dissent.

The unprecedented raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate is a major escalation in the regime’s war on “wrongthink.”

How else are we to interpret the descending of the regime’s praetorian guard on the home of its reportedly cooperating greatest critic, under a pretextual search warrant authorizing a fishing expedition, three months before a midterm election likely to serve as a rebuke of the regime and enhance the standing of its greatest foe

  14. Three more pings on Mar-a-Lago raid: A situational awareness adjustment
It all comes down to this.

This thought-treatment I really do hope to keep tight. Nothing has changed substantially in terms of common facts since the last article, and my hope is to help focus the speculation on the situation, which right now is all over the place.

The pings have to do with (1) what the DOJ/FBI could have been and/or probably were looking for in the 8 August 2022 raid at Mar-a-Lago; (2) what the purpose(s) of the raid may have been; and (3) what DOJ and FBI already know about Trump knows, what he’s been doing at any relevant time in the past,

    • J.E. has done her normally excellent job of laying out the evidence and detailing her conclusions. She is one of the ree people who are looking the RICO suit as a motive for the raid.

If PT can bring down the Deep State operatives that were sued it would do massive damage to the Deep State. This is why the Federal Government moved to get the Deep State operatives removed from the suit and the Government replacing them. By raiding Mar A Iargo and seizing the evidence it becomes part of an ongoing investigation and can’t be used against the Deep State. The secondary motive of finding evidence to use against PT and preventing is real but a very long shot. Nice if it happens but not central to the raid.

This analysis doesn’t address or refute the people who are saying that if the various efforts to prevent PT from running the Deep State is left with the assissination option. This option has to be running through a lot of minds. If the Deep State decides to use this option civilization will have fallen to new depths and the recovery will be much longer.

    • BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Trump Got’em – Huge Concerns About Peter Strzok Working for the CIA Are Likely at the Heart of Mar-a-Lago RAID

The brazen raid of President Trump’s home in Florida, Mar-a-Lago, likely has its roots in the Russia collusion story with a particular focus on Peter Strzok and his affiliation with the CIA.

We reported back in May 2020 that Peter Strzok was somehow connected to the CIA. General Michael Flynn’s attorney Sidney Powell even said so on Hannity’s show on FOX News at that time:

A Latvian businessman who sold Ivanka and Jared a house was found dead outside of his DC apartment.

Dan Rapoport, 52, was found dead on August 14, the Daily Mail reported

QInitial reports claimed he ‘jumped to his death,’ however his widow denies Rapoport committed suicide.

Rapoport sent a friend an urgent message on Facebook complaining that he was being scammed by a Russian VC firm.

Earlier this summer, the CO2 Coalition was banished from LinkedIn. The CO2 Coalition, with only three full-time employees and an annual budget of under $1 million, had committed the unpardonable sin of sharing contrarian perspectives on climate science. Its work, produced by a network of volunteers that includes dozens of distinguished scientists, offers indispensable balance on a topic that requires honest debate now more than ever.

  17. Turkish Military Launches Air Strikes In Northern Syria, 25 People Reportedly Killed

Jeddah – At least 25 people were killed in northern Syria on Tuesday (08/16/2022), after Turkey launched air strikes and artillery bombings targeting Assad regime forces and Kurdish fighters near the border town of Kobane.

Quoted from Arab News, the Turkish onslaught began at night, when artillery fire hit the city and its surroundings. The attacks reportedly continued throughout the day, and at least one child was killed.

Kurdish YPG militia fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces responded with a mortar attack on a Turkish military border post in Sanliurfa province that killed one soldier and injured four others. After the mortar attack, Turkish troops returned fire against targets in the Kobane area.

“According to preliminary information in the area, 13 terrorists were neutralized. Operations in the region are continuing,” the Defense Ministry in Ankara said. Dilvin, a shopkeeper in Kobane, said chaos broke out in the city when shooting escalated on Tuesday.

People started running, cars everywhere, people asking about their friends and family. Then voices started to sound, they were everywhere, There was so much screaming. So much fear. Now everyone is locked up at home.”

Then on Tuesday, 11 people were killed in a Turkish airstrike on a Syrian border post run by Assad regime forces. It was not clear whether the dead were Syrian government troops or Kurdish fighters.

Syrian regime forces have been deployed in areas controlled by the SDF near the border with Turkey as part of an agreement meant to stem cross-border attacks by Ankara targeting Kurdish forces it deems terrorists.

Turkey has launched a series of attacks since 2016 targeting Kurdish and Daesh forces, but they have rarely resulted in the deaths of Syrian regime fighters. If regime forces are confirmed to be among those killed on Tuesday, the attack would be one of the biggest escalations since Ankara and Damascus swapped attacks in 2020 following a Syrian regime offensive that killed 33 Turkish soldiers in the northwestern province of Idlib.

Turkey has stepped up its offensive in Kurdish-held Syria since July, when President Recep Tayyip Erdogan failed to get the green light from regional allies Iran and Russia for a new offensive into northern Syria.

Turkey has been hostile to Syrian leader Bashar Assad, and backs rebels calling for his ouster. But last week, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu angered the Syrian opposition by calling for reconciliation between the regime and rebels.

    • Kobane.
Terrible. Filthy Turk, ISIS, Kurds fight and die.

Israelis felt like kin to these Kurds. Reporters like Jonathan Spyer and Seth Frantzman were embedded with them off and on for years. IDF kids found online buddies. It was intense.

I couldn’t find the article by Michael Rubin I was looking for, but my MetaGer search took me back here!
      Jan. 13, 2020:

“There was a social media exchange of Israeli women soldiers with their Kurdish counterparts. Something about make-up.

“Then one of these 19-year-old Peshmerga was killed in the battle for Kobane.”

      Michael Rubin compared Kobane/Turk to Warsaw/Stalin, 1944:

When the Polish partisans rose up, they expected the Red Army to sweep into the city and liberate it from the Nazis. Instead, the Red Army stayed put while the Nazis gained the upper hand, slaughtered the Polish nationalists, and then razed the city.

While the US embraced Soviet dictator Josef Stalin as an ally in the realpolitik world of World War II, too often whitewashing his racist and murderous proclivities, Stalin himself had a plan for post-World War II Europe, and strong Polish nationalism had no place in it…

Fast forward 70 years. The Islamic State is surrounding the majority Kurdish town of Kobane, an enclave which has also taken in thousands of displaced Christians and Arabs. The US has for months ignored the advance, and only in recent days provided some aerial assistance.

Those fighting in Kobane are wedged between ISIS and, just a kilometer away, the Turkish Army. The Turks refuse to provide assistance to the Kurdish defenders, even as they watch hundreds of thousands flee, and thousands killed or wounded… slaughtered, raped, or enslaved…

How sad it is that history is repeating, w the Syrian Kurds playing the part of the Warsaw partisans and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan playing the part of Stalin. The Americans, alas, are once again recognizing pending tragedy but refusing out of cynicism, misplaced diplomacy, or simple incompetence to do anything about it.

The freedom-seeking world should be better than it was in 1944, as the freedom fighters of Warsaw perished. Unfortunately, events are showing it is not.

  18. Since the outset of the global monkeypox outbreak in May, public health and infectious disease experts have told the public that the virus is largely transmitting through skin-to-skin contact, in particular during sex between men.

Now, however, an expanding cadre of experts has come to believe that sex between men itself — both anal as well as oral intercourse — is likely the main driver of global monkeypox transmission. The skin contact that comes with sex, these experts say, is probably much less of a risk factor.

In recent weeks, a growing body of scientific evidence — including a trio of studies published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as reports from national, regional and global health authorities — has suggested that experts may have framed monkeypox’s typical transmission route precisely backward.

The amount is a part of a C$1.95 billion in loans Canada committed to Ukraine to support Kyiv during the Russian invasion.
