Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

        • I am doing quite well thank you. I pretty much stay on my 5 little acres and drink wine. I have 3 sets of deer twins who visit me 3 or 4 times a day, a skunk, lots of chipmunks and a smelly bear.

          I had some vaccinated company that told me they got Covid 3 times. I wanted to ask them, if they ever get a cold or flu, but let it go.

          I used to think it would be good to have a husband for every day of the week, the Saturday was by far my favourite, but now I would have to make sure they were pure bloods, so I have abandoned that idea.

          I know with M103, our hate speech motion, we are not supposed to be hateful however the sooner Canadians get rid of the World Economic Forum, little, stupid, SOB, the “minority fringe” bloviator so-called Prime Minister, preferably by imprisonment and his WEF trustee, sidekick, the better we will all be.

      Humiliating setback met with wild cheering.

      French President Emmanuel Macron suffered a humiliating setback in parliament after his vaccine passport scheme was defeated.

      Macron’s minority government wanted to extend the policy whereby anyone entering France has to show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test.

      However, the right-wing populist National Rally (RN), the hard-left La France Insoumise (LFI) and the right-wing Republicains (LR) all united to vote against the policy.

      Macron’s government lost the vote by a margin of 219 votes to 195.

      “The bill’s defeat was met with wild cheering and a standing ovation from opposition lawmakers, in footage that was widely circulated on social media,” reports the Telegraph.

      The bill was one of the first put to parliament by the new minority government, highlighting how Macron will find it incredibly difficult to get new laws passed in the country.

      Elisabeth Borne, the French Prime Minister, condemned the vote.

      “The situation is serious. By joining together to vote against the measures to protect the French against Covid, LFI, LR and RN prevent any border control against the virus. After the disbelief on this vote, I will fight so that the spirit of responsibility wins in the Senate,” she tweeted.

      As we previously highlighted, the French Minister of Health admitted that vaccine passports are a “disguised” form of mandatory vaccines, despite President Macron claiming vaccine mandates “will not be compulsory.”

      On the first day the new program was in place, police in Paris were visibly patrolling bars and cafes demanding customers show proof they’ve had the jab.

      It later emerged that many businesses were refusing to enforce the scheme.

    Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi Says He Will Resign

    Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi will offer his resignation later Thursday following a split in his coalition, according to a statement from his office.

    The premier told his cabinet that he will offer to step down in a meeting with President Sergio Mattarella, the statement said. Draghi, in power since early 2021, had been expected to seek to resign after a key member of his coalition boycotted a confidence vote on the government.

    It’s unclear what the next step will be. Mattarella could ask the former head of the European Central Bank to seek support from all allies in a new vote. A collapse of the coalition could prompt an early election, possibly in the fall, but most parties would seek to avoid this.

    Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi says he will resign

    Mario Draghi said he would resign as Italian prime minister on Thursday, after a party in his ruling coalition did not participate in a confidence vote.

    “I will tender my resignation to the president of the republic this evening,” Draghi told the cabinet, according to a statement released by his office.

    “The national unity coalition that backed this government no longer exists,” he added.

    The 5 Star Movement, one of the parties in the coalition government led by Draghi opposed a new decree aimed at lower inflation and rising energy costs. Analysts, however, argue the opposition is not so much ideological but a result of internal party disputes.

    “The move by the M5S was largely triggered by turmoil prevailing within the ailing party rather than by meaningful policy differences with the executive,” Wolfango Piccoli, co-president of the consultancy firm Teneo, said in a note Thursday.

    Draghi has been in power since February 2021 to lead a government formed by several parties and technocrats with the aim to bring stability to the nation often thrown into fresh political chaos.

    He has pushed for a reformist agenda and his work has softened previous concerns among investors about the stability of Italy’s economy.

    Italy is due to have new parliamentary elections before June 2023, but the latest uncertainty in Rome could bring that forward.

    Draghi, despite still having a majority in the Italian parliament without the support of the 5 Star Movement, has previously said he would not be available to lead another executive.

    Tesla has asked owners in Texas not to charge their cars during a heat wave to help avoid blackouts and overloading the state’s failing power grid.

    The alert comes as the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) called on residents to conserve energy. They have asked the state’s residents to refrain from using electricity from appliances and more to stop the grid from being pushed to near-emergency conditions.

    Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued guidance Wednesday reminding pharmacists of an alleged legal obligation to fulfill prescriptions for abortion pills regardless of state laws and restrictions.

    In the newly released guidance, HHS said that pharmacists who receive Medicare or Medicaid funding are prohibited by federal nondiscrimination law from discriminating based on sex. The directive noted that this includes supplying prescribed medications or determining the suitability of prescribed medications for patients, specifically pregnant women.

    QOn Wednesday, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee blocked a measure that would have increased the criminal punishment for child sex traffickers.

    The amendment, which was introduced this month by Texas Rep. Chip Roy (R), would have lengthened the minimum sentencing for those who have been convicted of “trafficking children by force, fraud, or coercion” – raising the minimum punishment from 10-15 years to a minimum of 15-20 years, depending on the offense. The measure also would have increased the maximum penalties for the heinous crime by an additional 5 years.

First, it was the violent outcry against mandatory covid vaccines that put an end to Beijing’s desire to forcibly innoculate all Beijing residents in just 48 hours – a feat not all of America’s armed militias have been able to achieve, and now it’s a grassroots push for what appears to be a debt jubillee as millions of homeowners suddenly stop paying their mortgages, a shocking move that has sent shockwaves across China’s capital markets and has sparked panic within China’s political leadership circles.

    As Bloomberg reports overnight, a rapidly increasing number of “disgruntled Chinese homebuyers” are refusing to pay mortgages for unfinished construction projects, exacerbating the country’s real estate woes and stoking fears that the crisis will spread to the wider financial system as countless mortgages default.

    According to researcher China Real Estate Information, homebuyers have stopped mortgage payments on at least 100 projects in more than 50 cities as of Wednesday, up from 58 projects on Tuesday and only 28 on Monday, according to Jefferies Financial Group Inc. analysts including Shujin Chen.

    Phony Rhetoric About ‘Our Democracy’

    Ever since the political rise of Donald Trump we have heard mantras chanted about “our democracy,” usually in the context of how Trump allegedly is destroying it. This cliché obscures the actual nature of our Constitutional political order, which created a mixed government more typical of a republic than a democracy rightly understood; and was based on a realist vision of human nature whose destructive excesses the Founders sought to mitigate without diminishing the citizens’ freedom.

    More devious, the sloppy use of “democracy” distracts from the fact that progressives for over a century have used the camouflage of “democracy” to hide their systematic dismantling of that Constitutional order that protects the freedom of individuals, civil society, and states from the tyranny of concentrated “large powers and unhampered discretion,” as Woodrow Wilson called for in 1887.

    US President Joe Biden arrives in Israel today, where he will find a changed Middle East compared to his last trip six years ago, when he was vice-president.

    The Israeli-Palestinian dispute is no longer the center of attention. Instead Israel’s fast-growing ties with Arab countries and an emerging Arab-Israeli military partnership to combat threats from Iran, is now the focus.

    And a visit to Israel also gives Biden an excuse to then travel on to Saudi Arabia, which he will do on Friday. Biden wants to bring the oil-rich kingdom “in from the cold” having previously said he will shun it over its human rights record.

    As a result of the growing global energy crisis sparked by the war in Ukraine and the sanctions on Russia, Biden will ask the Saudis to increase oil production in the hope of reducing high gas prices and stemming runaway inflation in America, which today reached a 40-year high.

    A broad swath of partnerships now reaches from Washington to Athens, Athens via Nicosia to Cairo and Jerusalem, and then to Abu Dhabi, Manama and New Delhi…

    The potential for another type of grouping that involves the US, Saudi Arabia and potentially Israel and others is important, but there are already emerging lobbies against any kind of new structure.

    They are linked to the pro-Iran-deal types in the US who now work at think tanks, and put out talking points against any type of relationship between Washington and Riyadh or any kind of joint work in the region. They want Iran to continue to grow its tentacles inside Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen and Syria.

    Of course there are voices opposing these growing partnerships – those same voices worked for years to appease Iran and isolate Israel. They would also put out talking points against “war” or against normalization until there were two states; they would claim Iran was being provoked, or “escalated” against.

    But as new groupings in the region emerge, the band of “realists” – who thought Iran having a nuclear weapon would bring “stability” to the region – have been proven wrong. They tried to keep Israel and the Gulf apart; they used to back Saudi Arabia against Israel, but when Riyadh moved close to Jerusalem, they decamped to begin backing China, Russia, Iran and whoever else was belligerent.…

    The rapidly moving ties and relationships all point to an unprecedented shift both in the region and globally, as the US works to shore up friends and allies, and as friends and partners understand they have to work together more closely. They cannot just wait for Washington to decide; they have to form their own working groups and push for more summits….

      Congressmen complicated the transfer of the F-16 to Turkey – the House of Representatives approved an amendment to the defense budget,which requires guarantees that fighter jets will not be used to invade Greek airspace.

      244 congressmen voted for the amendment, 179 against it.

      The amendment to the NDAA 2023 was adopted thanks to the efforts of the Greek lobby.

      The amendment prohibits the President from selling or exporting new F-16s or F-16 modernization technologies or modernization kits to Turkey unless the President assures Congress that such a sale is in the national interests of the United States and
      includes a detailed description of specific steps taken to ensure that such F-16s are not used by Turkey for repeated unauthorized flights over Greece.

    Biden himself stated, in an article he published recently in the Washington Post, that his past criticism of Saudi Arabia was never meant to “rupture” the relations between the two countries.

    This, says ‘Abbas, is obvious – since “who in their right mind would want to rupture a strategic relationship with a country of the size and importance of Saudi Arabia?”

    [… T]he relations between the countries do not require “reorientation,” either, since Saudi Arabia has for decades been an invaluable partner for the U.S., helping to combat terrorism, maintain stability in the region, and generate prosperity in global markets.

    The one who recently deviated from this norm is the U.S., he says, by taking measures such as delisting the Iran-backed Yemeni Houthis as terrorists and withdrawing American military systems from the kingdom at a time when Saudi civilians and oil infrastructures were under attack….

    The ADL says that it previously contacted the Office of the National Police Commissioner in Iceland and Iceland’s ambassador to the US about the issue, but didn’t receive “a substantive response.” The Icelandic US Embassy and the Icelandic Foreign Ministry did not immediately respond to The Jerusalem Post’s request for comment.…

    The project has caught the attention of law enforcement. On June 13 a representative from the FBI said that the Bureau was tracking the website and “working to identify additional information…”
