Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    Similar resolutions have passed unanimously in Wisconsin and Texas.

    The Congressional show-trial disguised as a House committee investigation of the January 6 “insurrection” serves several partisan purposes. Most obviously, it attempts to distract the voters from Joe Biden’s and the Dem’s dismal record of failure both at home and abroad. But it’s also useful for NeverTrump Republicans who may find it difficult to attack President Trump given how starkly Biden’s failures contrast with the policy successes of their bête orange.

    The hearings, then, provide Republican NeverTrumpers an opportunity to rehash some of their typical hyperbolic smears from the last six years, as well as potentially ending Trump’s political career. But in the end, all they will achieve is to remind us why ordinary voters distrust the Republican establishment and its fifth-columnist pundits like Bret Stephens.

  9. Chinese firm Fufeng Group recently purchased 300 acres of farmland in North Dakota just down the road from a US Air Force base that houses sensitive drone technology near Grand Forks.

    The farmland is just a 20-minute drive to the Grand Forks Air Force Base.

    The Fufeng Group also purchased a corn mill near Grand Forks. Local citizens are rightly concerned with this new project in their backyard.

  12. Germany Sees Russian Pipeline Part Released in Gas De-Escalation

    Germany expects Canada to release a key Russian pipeline part caught up in sanctions, a move that both Berlin and Moscow have said could ease the squeeze on gas flows to Europe.

    According to a person familiar with the situation, Germany expects Canada to send the turbine back soon. A German government spokesman told reporters on Friday there are “positive signals from Canada,” though he couldn’t confirm the part was on its way yet.

    Releasing the turbine could potentially de-escalate the gas standoff between Russia and Germany –and help increase flows that have been drastically curbed for weeks.

    Canada to return Nord Stream 1 turbine to Germany in blow to Ukraine

    Germany on Friday (8 July) confirmed that the government had received a positive signal from Canada regarding the delivery of a turbine needed for the maintenance of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline to Germany, but could not say that the turbine had been delivered.

    Russia’s Gazprom cut capacity along the Nord Stream 1 pipeline to just 40% of usual levels last month, citing the delayed return of a turbine being serviced by Germany’s Siemens Energy, in Canada.

    A decision to return the turbine had already been taken, a source familiar with the issue told Reuters on Thursday.

    The turbine would be sent to Germany first which will then deliver it to Gazprom so Canada does not breach any sanctions, a government source told Reuters.

    Siemens Energy declined to comment on the news.

    The Kremlin on Friday said it would increase gas supplies to Europe if the turbine was returned.

    Ukraine opposes Canada’s handing over the turbine to Gazprom and Kyiv believes such a move would flout sanctions on Russia, a Ukrainian energy ministry source said on Thursday.

    The fate of the turbine has highlighted unforeseen consequences of the Western sanctions against Russia in response to its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

    research done by Follow the Money, a Dutch platform for investigative journalism, and ten other European media outlets, found that European scientists have “shared militarily sensitive knowledge with the Chinese army on a large scale.”

    The project, known as the China Science Investigation, collected a staggering 353,000 scientific collaborations between Europe and China and found that, of these, 2,994 have taken place with the Chinese military, defined as, “studies where scientists from Western European universities collaborated with Chinese colleagues directly linked to an institute that is part of the Chinese army.”

    Men who have sexual relationships with other men and trans people who have multiple sexual partners should be vaccinated, as well as well as people exercising prostitution and or otherwise working in “sexual consumption areas”, the HAS said.

    Vaccination “can be considered on a case-by-case basis for professionals who have to deal with sick people”, the authority said, but added it did not recommend at this stage a general vaccination campaign for medical staff.

    Up until now, the HAS had only recommended “reactive” vaccination, saying that as soon as a confirmed case of monkeypox has been discovered, a vaccination should be given to adults who have been in contact with the patient.

    But in view of the spread of the Monkeypox virus and the difficulties in tracing the contacts of infected persons, the HAS now recommend preventive vaccination for some groups it says are at special risk.

    The viral disease, which causes flu-like symptoms and skin lesions, does not spread nearly as easily as COVID and there are vaccines and treatments available.

    On Thursday, the World Health Organization reported two new deaths, bringing the total to three since the start of the year and said the disease had spread to new areas.

    Data from the French health administration showed that 97% of monkeypox cases concerned gay men, 75% of which had declared having had relations with several men in the weeks preceding their symptoms, the HAS said.

    In its press release, the health body did not provide any data on the other groups targeted by its recommendations, but said that contact tracing was particulary difficult “around anonymous sexual relations”.

    GENEVA: The World Health Organization on Wednesday appealed for vigilance to ensure monkeypox does not spread among more vulnerable groups, such as children.

    Fighting the virus requires “intense” efforts, said the WHO, calling for broad data collection and sharing on how well vaccines work against the virus.

    Experts have detected a surge of monkeypox cases since early May outside of the West and Central African countries where the disease has long been endemic. Most of the new cases have been in western Europe.

    “I am concerned about sustained transmission because it would suggest that the virus is establishing itself and it could move into high-risk groups including children, the immunocompromised and pregnant women,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters.

    “We are starting to see this, with several children already infected.”

    There are two cases aged under 18 in Britain.

    WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan called for “very careful studies of the vaccine in different population groups… so that we get data that’s broadly applicable, and also to ensure that children, pregnant women and the immunosuppressed are considered for inclusion in these trials.”

    As of June 22 this year, 3,413 laboratory-confirmed monkeypox cases and one death have been reported to the WHO, from 50 countries.

    The countries with three-figure case numbers are Britain (793), Germany (521), Spain (520), Portugal (317), France (277), Canada (210), the Netherlands (167) and the United States (142).

    The vast majority of cases so far have been observed in men who have sex with men, of young age, chiefly in urban areas, in “clustered social and sexual networks,” according to the WHO.

    Last week the UN health agency convened an emergency committee of experts to decide if monkeypox constitutes a so-called Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), the highest alarm that the WHO can sound.

    But a majority found the situation had not yet crossed that threshold.

    Nonetheless, “they acknowledged the emergency nature of the event and that controlling the further spread requires intense response efforts,” Tedros said.

    The WHO chief called for equitable access to counter-measures like vaccines and antivirals and the systematic collection of clinical data to inform future recommendations.

    WHO emergencies director Michael Ryan said that countries with stockpiles of vaccines, led by the United States, had shown willingness to share them.

    However, the vaccines have largely only been licensed for use against monkeypox’s far more severe relative smallpox, which is also caused by an orthopoxvirus and which is the only disease successfully eradicated through vaccination.

    “It’s really important as we encourage the sharing of these products that we also collect the necessary clinical efficacy data,” said Ryan.He said the chief intervention in controlling monkeypox should be reducing transmission through education and taking steps to avoid infection, and then targeted use of available vaccines and antivirals.

    Currently, vaccines are in short supply and are broadly limited to health workers exposed to higher risk while tracing contacts of cases, said Ryan.

    He said some countries were beginning to consider offering vaccines to individuals “engaged in high-risk activities or at particular risk of being exposed.”

    Quebec health officials are reporting a dozen new cases of monkeypox for a total of 248 since the outbreak began in the province.

    Earlier this week, authorities had reported 236 declared cases in the province.

    Quebec’s Health Department says 9,437 doses of vaccine have been administered since May 27 to curb the biggest outbreak of the disease in Canada.

    Public health officials say most cases are among men who report intimate contact with men but say anyone can get monkeypox.

    Smallpox vaccines have proven effective in combating the monkeypox virus.

    The rare disease comes from the same family of viruses that cause smallpox, which the World Health Organization declared eradicated around the globe in 1980.

    Monkeypox generally does not spread easily between people and is transmitted through prolonged close contact via respiratory droplets, direct contact with skin lesions or bodily fluids, or through contaminated clothes or bedding.

      According to reports, more than half of all the doses it has ever bought have expired after Canada couldn’t find any foreign countries willing to take the vaccines, despite pledging to donate them.

      “Due to limited demand for the vaccine and recipient country challenges with distribution and absorption, they were not accepted,” Health Canada said in a statement.

      “The expiration of 13.6 million doses follows the expiration of 1.2 million AstraZeneca doses reported in April and May. Most of the expired doses never left the manufacturers’ warehouses. An unknown but smaller number of doses also expired after distribution to provincial governments,” according to the news release.

      Early in the pandemic, Canada was criticized for being one of the ‘most aggressive buyers’ and ‘hoarders of vaccines’ among the wealthy nations.

      “Over four million AstraZeneca doses arrived in Canada from Covax in spring 2021, but at the same time reports began to circulate in Europe of rare blood clotting events after its administration. This led Norway and Denmark to pause and ultimately halt the vaccine’s use,” the news release stated.

      “Other countries soon followed, and Canada halted the vaccine’s use in under-55s just as it began to arrive in large numbers. Public confidence in the shot collapsed, and its fate in Canada was sealed by the large-scale arrival of Pfizer’s vaccine weeks later.”

      The Gateway Pundit previously reported that a 40-year-old father from British Columbia was one of the first people in Canada to be compensated after suffering an adverse reaction connected to the COVID-19 vaccine.

      Ross Wightman, a former pilot and realtor was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), which is a rare disorder in which your body’s immune system attacks your nerves, after receiving a first dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine last April 2021.

      Wightman became partially paralyzed from the waist down and suffered full facial paralysis after being diagnosed with the disease due to the COVID-19 vaccine.

      Last month, Wightman posted a letter he received from the federal Vaccine Injury Support Program on his social media account stating that “there is a probable causal association between the injuries sustained and the vaccination.”

    Justice of the peace Paul Harris said court found Lich’s actions ‘troubling’

    Freedom convoy leader Tamara Lich’s bail has been revoked for violating the conditions of her release when she attended an awards gala in Toronto and had contact with another convoy organizer.

    Her detention is necessary “to maintain confidence in the administration of justice,” Harris said.

    Lich has been in jail since she was taken into custody in Medicine Hat, Alta., on June 27, after Ottawa police issued a Canada-wide warrant for her arrest.
