Reader’s Links for December 8, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Eric Zemmour’s portrait is the only one of a (now) “politician” that hangs over my desk. I will always be totally subjective when it comes to this “last” hope for France. Well I even forgive him that he does not consider the Rona Scam the most dangerous concern of the day.
This 30 minute treatment of the question “Who is Eric Zemmour?” by Freddy Sayers is fairly balanced, considering that it comes from someone that strikes me as fairly “estabishment” ie Oxford, pal of the Royals (he even inherited some of Prince William’s former girlfriends, so the gossip goes etc. AND its in English.

    • It’s a very interesting interview. His priority will be Islamism and migration. He’s right on that issue. There’s no point in setting up an economic and growth plan if the big boggeyman is in the way. He expresses himself extremely well.

    • I suspect he is a stealth candidate to take votes from Le Pen. Big hoopla. Then he will disappear back into his intellectual commenting once this is over. This is becoming a common tactic nowadays.

      • I lean your way re stealth candidate. Recent voting intention polls show Macron in first place followed by Valérie Pécresse and Marine Le Pen who are tied, and Zemmour in 4th. So, he’s helping Pécresse.

      • It also explains why Pécresse canceled her first major rally that was supposed to be held on December 11. She canceled citing her fear of propagating a C-19 hotbed. Instead, she’ll do a virtual rally.

  2. The Australian Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt is one of those grey-suited, always affable, Disappearing-in-the-Crowd kind of fellow. Few people know that he went through the Great Reset Klaus Schwab training, and no-one leaves that “nursery” as an innocent, in my opinion.
So, when I heard that he was leaving politics after 20 or so years at the upcoming election, I had an intensive feeling of hope, thinking yayyyyy rats leaving the sinking ship…, while the cynic in me told me: he is going to work for Pfizer now.

Well, the little performance when he said good-bye on his last day in the Australian parliament last week was schmaltzy to a point, where it nearly convinced even cynical old me. Wife and children were the reason he left…they needed their husband and daddy. And our PM, Morrission, his personal friend bestowed a quasi sainthood on him. Well….birds of a feather….
So I allow myself a little last self indulgence, I do not know the source….

  3. This was a life broadcast a few weeks ago (mid November) of the first Republic of Poland Members of Parliament Investigation Committee as part of the Nuremberg 2.0 project with Dr. Reiner Füllmich and Viviane Fisher from the Corona Ausschuss.

It is really long at nearly 3 hours, but you can do your washing up while listening. Also the first few minutes, the voice of the Interpreter is overpowering, but that is being adjusted.
The name “Nuernberg 2” gives me a kick and hope, and Poland increasingly impresses me.

  4. CNN – Two vaccine doses may not provide sufficient protection against Omicron coronavirus variant, but protection improves with three doses, Pfizer says

Preliminary lab studies show two doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine may not provide sufficient protection against the Omicron coronavirus variant, but three doses are able to neutralize it the companies said in a news release on Wednesday.

Samples from people who had two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine saw, on average, a more than 25-fold reduction in neutralization ability against the Omicron variant than the earlier virus, “indicating that two doses of BNT162b2 may not be sufficient to protect against infection with the Omicron variant,” the companies said.

The companies said two doses may still provide protection against severe disease.
“Although two doses of the vaccine may still offer protection against severe disease caused by the Omicron strain, it’s clear from these preliminary data that protection is improved with a third dose of our vaccine,” Pfizer Chairman and CEO Albert Bourla said in a statement. “Ensuring as many people as possible are fully vaccinated with the first two dose series and a booster remains the best course of action to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

The initial lab studies used serum from blood from individuals who received two or three doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine. The sera was collected from subjects three weeks after their second dose, or one month after a third dose.

Pfizer and BioNTech are continuing to develop a variant-specific vaccine for Omicron and say it will be available by March, if it’s needed.

reuters – Pfizer, BioNTech vaccine neutralises Omicron with three shots

Dec 8 (Reuters) – BioNTech and Pfizer (PFE.N) said on Wednesday a three-shot course of their COVID-19 vaccine was able to neutralise the new Omicron variant in a laboratory test and said they could deliver an upgraded vaccine in March 2022 if needed.

BioNTech and Pifzer are the first manufacturers of a COVID vaccine to issue an official update on the efficacy of their shot against Omicron.

The German and U.S. companies said two doses of their vaccine resulted in significantly lower neutralising antibodies but a third dose boosted those antibodies by a factor of 25.

In the first official statement from manufacturers on the efficacy of their vaccine against Omicron, they said two doses resulted in significantly lower neutralising antibodies but a third dose boosted those antibodies by a factor of 25.

The Omicron variant was neutralised in samples of blood taken around a month after the third shot about as effectively as two doses neutralised the original virus identified in China.

“Ensuring as many people as possible are fully vaccinated with the first two dose series and a booster remains the best course of action to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Pfizer boss Albert Bourla said in the statement.

The Omicron variant, first detected in southern Africa last month, has triggered global alarm about another surge in infections. Cases have already been reported from Japan to the United States and across Europe.

The World Health Organization classified Omicron on Nov. 26 as a “variant of concern” but said there was no evidence to support the need for new vaccines specifically designed to tackle the variant and its mutations.

Nevertheless, the companies said they would continue efforts to bring an Omicron-specific COVID-19 vaccine to market. Work had started when the variant first raised concern on Nov. 25.

They said their planned production of 4 billion doses of the Comirnaty vaccine in 2022 was not expected to change if an adapted vaccine was required.

The findings are broadly in line with a preliminary study published by researchers at the Africa Health Research Institute in South Africa on Tuesday, which said Omicron could partially evade protection from two doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and suggested a third shot might help fend off infection.

Research on the new variant is still at an early stage. Laboratory analysis at University Hospital Frankfurt in Germany found the ability to mount an antibody response to Omicron in people who had three shots was up to 37 times lower than the response to Delta. read more

“The companies believe that vaccinated individuals may still be protected against severe forms of the disease,” BioNTech and Pfizer said, although lab data and real-world monitoring had yet to yield new insights.

The vast majority of surface structures on the Omicron spike protein targeted by the T-cells, which typically emerge after vaccination, are not affected by Omicron’s mutations, they said.

T-cells are the second pillar of an immune response, alongside antibodies, and are believed to prevent severe disease by attacking infected human cells.

For their analysis, the two companies used a virus that was bio-engineered to have the hallmark mutations of Omicron, known as a pseudovirus, and blood was collected from subjects three weeks after a second vaccine dose or one month after a third.

There is no significant data yet on how vaccines from Moderna (MRNA.O), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N) and other drugmakers hold up against the new variant but they are expected to release their own data within weeks.

BionTech says “three doses” of vaccine neutralises Omicron variant

Özlem Türeci, BionTech’s Chief Medical Officer says that the coronavirus vaccine developed jointly by BioNTech and Pfizer neutralises the Omicron variant of the virus after three doses.

A laboratory study by its makers found “three doses of our vaccine neutralise the Omicron variant”, but warned that “two doses show significantly reduce neutralization of this new variant.”.

    • the sun – Omicron ‘more transmissive’ and may be able to ‘evade vaccine’

THE spread of Omicron could force Boris Johnson to trigger Plan B within days, prompting fears that Christmas could be left in chaos for a second year.

Scientists yesterday said the new Covid strain seems to be three times more infectious than previous variants.

And they revealed that up to 1,000 Brits each day could now be catching the highly contagious form of the virus — with new cases doubling every three days.

Grim plans to slow the progress of the variant are now being war-gamed by Downing Street — including ordering Brits to work from home once more.

Football and music fans could also be required to show vaccine passports to enter crowded venues.

The desperate measures are being weighed up as the Prime Minister told a Cabinet meeting that “early indications are that it is more transmissible than Delta”.

But one key difference of the Omicron-like subvariant is that it is missing a genetic quirk that allows officials to quickly track its spread.

    • paul j watson – Explosion in New Heart Conditions Explained as “Post Pandemic Stress Disorder”

      Case closed.

Experts in the UK say that an explosion in new heart illnesses in younger patients can be explained by a new condition called “post-pandemic stress disorder.

      Yes, really.

A London Evening Standard report quotes senior vascular surgeon Tahir Hussain, who works at an NHS hospital in London.

“I’ve seen a big increase in thrombotic-related vascular conditions in my practice,” said Hussain. “Far younger patients are being admitted and requiring surgical and medical intervention than prior to the pandemic.”

Hussain said that the cases are “a direct result of the increased stress and anxiety levels caused from the effects of PPSD (post-pandemic stress disorder).”

He also said that people dying at home “from conditions such as pulmonary embolism and myocardial infarction” was down to them self-isolating and not seeking the medical care they need.

Hussain’s explanation was echoed by former senior NHS psychological therapist Mark Rayner, who said as many as 300,000 heart ailments could be due to “post-pandemic stress disorder.”

“Everyone has heard of PTSD but we really urgently need to get our heads around PPSD,” said Rayner, adding that “The pandemic and the resulting lockdowns it’s brought have had a massive effect on the mental health of the whole nation.”

Some people expressed skepticism that the sudden increase in heart problems amongst young people is solely due to lockdown stress (the UK hasn’t been under any form of lockdown for almost 6 months).

“Never mind my last tweet!” commented Candace Owens.

“I’ve just learned that the sudden increase in heart-related illnesses is likely due to **checks Big Pharma notes** Post-Pandemic Stress Disorder. Nothing to see here!”

  6. – Yesterday: CALGARY WEST JET – Another pilot has a heart attack –

WestJet flight diverted back to Calgary after pilot medical emergency

WestJet declined to provide details on the illness or the current condition of the pilot, citing privacy concerns.

In an email statement, WestJet spokesperson Madison Kruger said EMS met the flight upon arrival and the pilot was removed from duty. Another pilot onboard took control of the plane.

“All WestJet flights have two pilots, to ensure that should any illness occur in the flight deck, there is an additional pilot onboard to ensure the continued safe operation of the aircraft and the safety of our guests and our crew,” Kruger said.

EMS said they responded to the airport terminal around 1:25 p.m. but that paramedics had no patient contact and left the scene without request for EMS assistance.

Edmontonian John White was a passenger on the flight, sitting four rows from the front of the plane. He first realized something was awry on the flight after noticing concern among flight attendants, one of whom brought a first-aid kit and a defibrillator into the cockpit.

“Then they made the call for if there is a doctor, nurse or EMT on the plane and as luck would have it, one doctor came forward and two nurses,” White said. He said a pilot on board in the passenger area also made his way to the cockpit.

White said the pilot was brought out of the cockpit and set down as medical volunteers treated him. The pilot appeared to collapse shortly afterwards.

“They were able to get him talking again after they got him on the floor, but they were working on him pretty feverishly,” White said.

WestJet declined to provide details on the illness or the current condition of the pilot, citing privacy concerns.

The airline said 70 passengers were on the flight, with some accommodated with travel Monday. The airline added additional Calgary-to-Atlanta and Atlanta-to-Calgary flights for Tuesday after the incident. A scramble and some lengthy queues ensued after the cancelled flight, White said.

White praised the pilot and medical professionals on board for their handling of the incident and safe carriage of the flight back to Calgary.

“When I saw the extra pilot go into place, I felt a lot better, and then my concern turned to the well-being of the pilot. . . They weren’t messing around or wasting any time,” he said. “And I will commend the flight attendant. They were really impressive and they kept us abreast of what was happening. It was impressive to see them jump into action like that.”

  7. BREITBART – Rome Police Arrest Immigrant Posing Nude in Public Fountain

ROME — A squad of police officers subdued and arrested an African immigrant who was posing nude in a public fountain in Rome’s Piazza dell Repubblica Wednesday.

A video released by the Italian daily Il Messaggero shows the naked man, wearing only a red cap, perched atop one of the statues of the Naiads, sculpted by Italian artist Mario Rutelli for the unveiling of the fountain in 1888.

The man can be seen taunting passersby as security officers attempt in vain to convince the man to come out of the fountain. Five officers eventually wade into the cold water and when the immigrant begins to splash them, they subdue him using their nightsticks.

According to news site, the man had a bottle in his hand and prior to the arrival of the agents, had also threatened several people walking by the fountain.

Former Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, leader of Italy’s Lega party, posted the video on his Twitter account, in which he expresses his “solidarity with the poor officers, forced to take a bath on the day of the Immaculate Conception.”

“A reflection: is this immigration that Italy needs?” Salvini queries. “Are these the resources that will pay pensions to the Italians? This video will make some people laugh, I can’t do it.”

  8. Palestinians outraged by sperm-smuggling drama film

Palestinians on Wednesday expressed outrage over a film that revolves around a 17-year-old Palestinian girl who was conceived with the smuggled sperm of her father, a security prisoner held by Israel.

The girl, Amira, was raised believing that she was conceived in this unconventional manner. She later discovered that her father’s semen had been replaced with that of an Israeli prison guard.

According to Palestinian sources, over the past decade, more than 100 children have been conceived using smuggled sperm from security prisons. The film, shot in Jordan, is coproduced by Jordan, Egypt and the Palestinians.

Jordan has nominated the film as its official entry for the 94th Academy Awards (Oscars) to compete in the international feature film category, the Jordan Times reported.

Amira had its world premiere at the 78th Venice International Film Festival, where it won two major awards, according to the newspaper.

The Palestinian Authority and several Palestinian groups, including those representing security prisoners in Israeli jails, condemned the drama film as an “insult to the dignity” of the inmates.

  9. Bob Dole fought to free Soviet Jews

Sen. Bob Dole of Kansas, who died on Sunday at 98, had a complex record on Israel but a much more clear-cut one on Soviet Jews, whose cause he championed as a senator and Senate leader.

“The freedom of enslaved people is America’s business, and freedom is a task we must apply,” Dole, a Republican and Senate minority leader at the time, said in remarks at the 1987 mass rally at the U.S. Capitol on behalf of some 400,000 Jewish refuseniks. “I will not rest, and you will not rest, America will not rest, until they are all free.”

Dole told the crowd that in his close to three decades in Congress, he had dealt with many requests from people who wanted help for family members seeking to immigrate to the U.S. “I’ve never had one ask for help to leave America….”

He implored Gorbachev, who was scheduled to arrive soon after for bilateral talks in the U.S.,

“Let every last woman and child, who wants to sleep under the same roof with their children and their family, or say a prayer in the synagogue, whether it be in Washington or Jerusalem; who only wants the chance of medical treatment — let them go, Mr. Gorbachev, let them go.”

  10. Spanish town until recently called Fort Kill the Jews hit with antisemitic graffiti

A tiny Spanish town that has veered over the centuries from being a refuge for Jews to a rallying cry for their death was defaced with widespread antisemitic graffiti.

Residents of Castrillo Mota de Judíos, a village in Northern Spain, began to discover the graffiti almost as soon as they woke Monday….

No Jews live in the town, which has only about 50 inhabitants. The vandals were instead taking aim at the village’s history, and the efforts by its current mayor, Lorenzo Rodriguez, to preserve it.

Originally named Castrillo Motajudíos, or Jew’s Hill Fort, in 1035 when Jews fleeing from a neighboring pogrom settled there. The town was renamed Castrillo Matajudíos – Fort Kill The Jews – in 1627, during a period of extreme religious persecution by the Inquisition.
