Reader’s Links for November 21, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. A day after the friday night riots in Rotterdam, the Netherlands: riots in the Hague, Roermond and Urk (all in the Netherlands).
Similar to Rotterdam, in the Hague there were attacks on first responders. An ambulance with a patient inside was pelted with stones, one window broken. Police was pelted with fireworks.

The Hague, (enriched) Schilderswijk area. Enrichers dancing around a fire at 1:34

    Same area:

7 arrests in the Hague, 1 car burned, 5 officers wounded, one had a concussion.
These riots were organized through social media (seems to be the norm nowadays).

    Roermond riots:
These were minor.. but 9 months ago, there were serious corona-related riots there.

As for the previous riots in Rotterdam, the mayor stated that half of the rioters were minors, the youngest 12/13yo. Videos I’ve seen were very enriched..
The older rioters were mostly (soccer) hooligans, both local and from other cities. Sounds to me that one wasn’t completely spontaneous either.

Rotterdam aftermath: police finds a severed finger at 1.20, close-up 1:30 (probably fireworks-related accident)

    • channel 4 – Dozens arrested after second night of violent protests in the Netherlands

Anger is mounting in Europe over tightening measures to beat the rise in cases, with demonstrations in Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark and Croatia – as well as Austria, which is preparing to enter a nationwide lockdown on Monday.

  2. europravda – POLAND – Demonstrators on Poland-Belarus border demand more help for migrants

Demonstrators in Poland – close to the Belarusian border – demand that the government does more to help migrants.

    • DEUTSCHE PRAVDA – Polish volunteers help migrants in border crisis

The humanitarian crisis on Europe’s eastern flank shows no signs of easing.

Poland is pushing back multiple groups of migrants trying to get over the border from Belarus.

Those who make it across – mostly young families from Iraq – are left to face harsh winter conditions out in the open.

Now local Polish residents are rallying round to help.

Mothers from around Poland have come to the border region near Belarus to show their concern for the crisis unfolding here.

At least a dozen migrants have died in the forests just kilometers away, a number of them on the Polish side of the border.

One of the latest victims was a one-year-old child.

The Polish government says that if it were to welcome the migrants with open arms, this would play into the hands of Belarus’s alleged plan to destabilize the EU.

But it’s clear that this hardline policy has had casualties.

And more tragedy is sure to come as winter approaches. DW’s Amien Essif reports.

  3. DEUTSCHE PRAVDA – Anti-lockdown protests gather force in Europe amid COVID surge

As many governments tighten restrictions to curb surging coronavirus infections, there’s growing anger from opponents of the measures.

Tens of thousands have rallied across Europe.

Campaigners say authorities are failing to strike the right balance between protecting public health – and upholding personal freedoms.

Thousands of Austrians chanting ‘resistance’ marched through the streets of Vienna in reaction to the latest government measures: compulsory vaccinations and a new national lockdown.

The protesters are outnumbered though – by active COVID-19 cases in Austria, which total nearly 200,000.

The government says the lockdown and compulsory vaccinations are the only way to stop hospitals being overwhelmed.

As winter bites in Europe, cases are surging, compelling governments to act.

But also sparking more and more protests.

Thousands turned out in Croatia to express their anger.

Protests in the Netherlands spilled over into violence, destruction and dozens of arrests.

Across Europe, frustration and fatigue are rising along with infection numbers, leaving the authorities to face the challenge of dealing with unrest in the community – on top of the pandemic.

      ( 42 min )

With the help of mRNA technology, BioNTech has developed a vaccine for COVID-19. These assist the body to produce its own antigens to fight the virus – a medical milestone.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, scientists Ugur Sahin und Özlem Türeci have pursued the goal of creating cancer treatments that are specific to individuals. The firm they established, BioNTech, focuses heavily on revolutionary mRNA technology.

The “M” in mRNA means ‘messenger and RNA stands for ribonucleic acid. MRNA delivers information for antigen production directly to the cell which produces proteins. Afterwards, these cells present self-produced antigens on their outer shells and trigger a specifically desired immune response.

Sahin and Türeci came up with the idea of using mRNA technology for vaccines in January 2020 after reading about a virus recently identified in Wuhan, China. Within hours, BioNTech decided to launch its search for a viable vaccine. The initial steps required lots of money and nerves of steel. The founders of pharmaceutical giant Hexal, brothers Andreas and Thomas Strünmann, were among the first financial backers.

BioNTech received hundreds of millions in funding and the search for a vaccine began. But many questions remained unresolved. In the end, persistence paid off. A Partnership with Pharma Giant Pfizer sped up the testing phase and the Comirnaty Con-centrate was approved.

Its efficacy proven, millions around the world have been vaccinated with it.

But what does the future look like for cancer research? And can mRNA technology aid in the fight against Malaria?

The documentary shows what a wide-ranging affect this startup company in Mainz, Germany is having on global health. Film maker Michael Schindhelm has gained the opportunity to take a closer look at this revolutionary company.

Belgium recently extended the use of face masks and mandatory remote work in an attempt to contain a new surge of cases.

  9. Daniel Pipes:
    Will Islam survive Islamism?

The Islamist movement, which seeks to apply medieval Islamic laws and build a worldwide caliphate, has expanded massively in the past half-century. But it now faces a significant and growing counter-movement, especially in Muslim-majority countries. Growing numbers of Muslims, spurred by shocks like the fall of Kabul, fear and reject this radical version of Islam.

Awareness of the anti-Islamist surge has been largely limited to those directly involved but it deserves to be much better known.

Anti-Islamism comprises four complementary trends. Going from quietest to most radical, they are: moderate Islam, irreligiosity, apostasy, and conversion to other religions. All have an international presence but, for illustrative purposes, I shall focus in each case on a key Middle Eastern country: moderate Islam in Egypt, irreligiosity in Turkey, atheism in Saudi Arabia, and conversion in Iran….

It appears limited to Muslim-majority countries; among Muslims minorities, especially in the West, Islamism continues to grow…

Colombia apologizes for police cadets in Nazi uniforms at event to honor Germany

Colombia’s President Ivan Duque issued an apology Friday after cadets at a police academy caused outrage by dressing up as Nazis for a “cultural exchange” event in honor of Germany.

Photos of the ceremony were shared Thursday on an official police Twitter account.

In it, students are seen dressed in the grey-green uniform of the Wehrmacht, one of them sporting a small, Adolf Hitler-style moustache.

Others are dressed in the black uniform of the SS, complete with the red swastika armband.

The black, red and yellow German flag and balloons in the same colors decorated the venue that also featured a replica Luftwaffe plane, copies of Nazi firearms, and swastikas on the table cloths.

Two police officers in Colombian uniforms inaugurated the event by cutting a ribbon, the pictures showed.

States with high vaccination rates have highest excess mortality “The higher the vaccination rate, the higher the excess mortality”

Physicist Dr. Ute Bergner, formerly a member of the FDP parliamentary group in the Thuringian state parliament but who has since switched to the “Citizens for Thuringia” party, gave a speech to the Thuringian state parliament on Nov. 17 in which she presented an analysis she had commissioned.

She had commissioned two statisticians to investigate whether there is a connection between the vaccination rate and excess mortality in the 16 federal states.
Prof. Dr. Rolf Steyer and Dr. Gregor Kappler analyzed the period from week 36 to week 40.

The results are alarming. The summary of the analysis states:

Excess mortality is evident in all 16 countries. The number of covid deaths reported by the RKI in the period considered consistently represents only a relatively small proportion of excess mortality and, most importantly, cannot explain the critical issue.

The higher the vaccination rate, the higher the excess mortality.

    The most direct explanation is:
? Full vaccination increases the probability of death.’

Of course, more indirect explanations are possible:
? The higher the proportion of the old, the higher the vaccination rate and the higher the excess mortality. Therefore, vaccination rate and excess mortality are also correlated. (However, this explanation is not very plausible because the proportion of the old should have changed significantly between 2016-2020 on the one hand and 2021 on the other).

? Higher vaccination rates are due to increased stress and anxiety in the country concerned, and the latter lead to increased numbers in deaths.

Other explanations are by no means excluded. Some of these may also be supported by figures and should be investigated further. We are very grateful for suggestions of this kind.

The statistical analysis gives the following picture: The y-axis shows the excess mortality in percent. For example, 110.0 represents an excess mortality of 10%. 100.0 means no excess mortality and denotes the average from 2016 to 2020. The x-axis shows the vaccination rate of the state in percent.

Thuringia (4%) and Saxony (2%), the two states with the lowest vaccination rates, also have the lowest excess mortality. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is the frontrunner, with a vaccination rate of 66% and excess mortality of 16%. The larger states are all in the 10% excess mortality range with vaccination rates of 66 to 71%.

    Results call for ‘urgent clarification’

For the statisticians among you: The correlation coefficient is +0.31. In the eyes of the two scientists, this is “astonishingly high.” Especially since the sign is not correct. Actually, we expect a different relationship: the more vaccinations, the lower the mortality. After all, the intention of “vaccination” is to protect people.

Now, however, the relationship is positive: “excess mortality increases as the vaccination rate increases.” This needs urgent clarification, demand the two statisticians. Furthermore, in view of “the upcoming political measures for the desired containment of the virus […] this figure is disturbing and in need of explanation, if one wants to take further political measures with the aim of increasing the vaccination rate.”

The analysis was submitted to the Thuringian state parliament for review.

At the end of her speech, Ute Bergner emphasized, “A person’s value does not depend on their vaccination status.” It is frightening that a statement of such self-evident facts has become necessary in the meantime.

How these results come about would now have to be answered by politics. Experience shows: The hope to receive logical answers from politics with regard to such a state of affairs and the resulting questions is probably in vain.

Excess mortality among 15- to 44-year-olds

At this point, we would like to take a look at the current excess mortality of 15 to 44 year-olds in Germany. The following graph shows the course of mortality in recent years. In the red circle, we see the year 2021, which almost consistently shows excess mortality among 15- to 44-year-olds. Normally, the graph fluctuates much more between under and over mortality. Not so in this year (red ellipse on the right).×232.png×242.png

If we already had an excess mortality of 3,000 deaths last year, this year the excess mortality is already close to 5,000 deaths.

  15. Unusual bedfellows: how gangs are pushing New Zealand’s Covid vaccination drive

Now, in its pursuit of some of the world’s highest vaccination rates, New Zealand’s government and health officials have found themselves working with unusual bedfellows. Cabinet ministers are meeting with gang leaders to hash out a strategy – and some have even been granted essential worker status in the Covid response.

As some of New Zealand’s most alienated, marginalised and distrustful communities, the gangs provide a microcosm of the challenges facing New Zealand’s Covid response and vaccine rollout. But some experts and leaders say the Covid cooperation also presents an opportunity – to re-examine how the gangs and government relate, and to confront some of the social problems that feed their existence.

  16. the sun – FANATIC’S SOB STORY How evil Poppy Day taxi bomber told web of lies to get a new life in the UK

THE web of lies spun by suicide bomber Emad Al-Swealmeen was first exposed just days after he arrived in Britain seven years ago, the Sun on Sunday can reveal.

Damning documents today show how a single frontline immigration officer confronted the fanatic in a forensic asylum interview in May 2014.

But despite ADMITTING using a fake Jordanian passport and visa to enter the UK and having his claim rejected the following year, Al-Swealmeen was still here almost a decade later.

SEVERAL asylum seekers have used Christianity conversion as part of a “Pray to Stay” bid to win their cases in the past few months, we can reveal.

Top judges have given four applicants the green light to remain in Britain – as major concerns were raised after Poppy Day bomber Emad Al-Swealmeen claimed he had found the Christian God.

The Church of England hit back at suggestions this week that some applicants are gaming the system in an effort to stay in the country.

But court documents show a string of cases including a Chinese Buddhist, who switched religions to Christianity, were granted asylum last month.

The woman revealed she attended church every Sunday and a Bible study group as part of her effort to remain in the UK.

One Iranian Muslim was given a glowing reference by Reverend Hough at Stockport Baptish Church when making their asylum claim.

The judges agreed that the minimum six months’ attendance and engagement in the services was taken into account.

The judges rejected claims the move to Christianity was nothing more than a ploy.

However, an Iraqi Muslim who claimed to have converted to Christianity won his asylum case, although an early court ruling rejected his claims to have changed religion.

Ben Ryan, the Church of England’s Home Affairs Adviser, said this week: “While undoubtedly there are those who believe that seeking membership of the Church will fast-track their asylum claim, there is no evidence this practice is commonly accepted, or even remotely widespread.”

  17. Riots all over the Netherlands this evening. Small towns suffer arson, shop looting, and good old stonings (of police vans).
There’s already over a dozen videos online, will upload links tomorrow

    • reuters – Third night of rioting erupts over Dutch COVID-19 rules

AMSTERDAM, Nov 21 (Reuters) – Riots broke out in cities across the Netherlands on Sunday, the third night in a row that police clashed with mobs of angry youths who set fires and threw rocks to protest COVID-19 restrictions.

Unrest was reported in locations including Leeuwarden and Groningen in the north, the eastern town of Enschede and Tilburg in the south. In Enschede, where an emergency ordinance was issued, police used batons to try to disperse a crowd, according to video on social media. In Leeuwarden, police vans were pelted with rocks and black-clad groups chanted and set off flares.

Responding to the worst disturbances since a full lockdown led to widespread disorder and more than 500 arrests in January, police said five officers had been injured overnight Saturday and at least 64 people detained in three provinces, including dozens who threw fireworks and fences during a soccer match at Feyenoord Rotterdam’s stadium.

The latest unrest began on Friday night in Rotterdam, where police opened fire on a crowd that had swelled to hundreds during a protest that the city’s mayor said had turned into “an orgy of violence”.

Four people believed to have been hit by police bullets remained in hospital on Sunday, a statement by the authorities said.

The protests were sparked by opposition to government plans to restrict use of a national corona pass to people who have either recovered from COVID-19 or have been vaccinated, excluding those with a negative test result.

The Netherlands reimposed some lockdown measures on its 17.5 million population last weekend for an initial three weeks in an effort to slow a resurgence of the virus, but daily infections have remained at their highest levels since the start of the pandemic. read more

Some youths were also angered by a New Year’s Eve firework ban to avoid added pressure on hospitals that have already been forced to scale back care due to a surge in COVID-19 patients.

Among the most serious confrontations on Saturday night were those in The Hague, where the five officers were hurt, one of them seriously, a police statement said. Police carried out charges on horseback and arrested 19 people, one of them for throwing a rock through the window of a passing ambulance.
