Reader’s Links for September 16, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Fun fact: Richard’s sojourne was reflected in yesterday’s Readers’ clocking in at 38 comments.

The scramble for natural gas is already having knock-on effects. Complex-system manipulation by the same maniacal ideologues who have brought us scientism-driven climate-change energy policies such as shutting down pipe lines, carbon zero, and crazy-expensive alternative-energy, are having an exponential impact in the face of real supply shortages. This, combined with scientism-driven health care policies will most certainly impact the world economy like hurricane Bertha tickling the Gulf coast. Time-critical supply-chain disruptions such as computer chips for pick-up trucks will begin to impact local economies. This is not fear mongering. It is happening now.

    • Chip shortage: I am of two minds on this.

While I freely acknowledge that there may be a chip shortage, the fact that it disproportionately affects pickup trucks is, I suspect, a really big part of the story that is not being told.

What is the image of the pickup-truck? Freedom to move around, move your tools/goods and earn a living on your own in way way that would be impossible in a tiny electric ‘smart car’. That is, a measure of economic freedom free from Government control.

And the image of the pick-up driver is a rugged, self-reliant conservative/libertarian.

Is it really an accident that pickup truck chips are disproportionately affected by this shortage?

A leaked Zoom conference reveals a doctor questioning how to increase the count of COVID-19 patient numbers on the hospital’s dashboard report.

… if you don’t get vaccinated, you know you are going to die,” Rudyk said in the video.

“Let’s just be really blunt to these people.”

“My feeling at this point in time is that maybe we need to be completely a little bit more scary for the public,”

“There are many people still hospitalized that we’re considering post-COVID, but we are not counting in those numbers,

In response to questions asking for confirmation on if people in the video were employees of New Hanover Regional Medical Center and what the context of the video was, a spokesperson for Novant Health told The Epoch Times that staff involved in the excerpt of the video are seeing the “highest levels of COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths so far in this pandemic, despite having safe and effective vaccines widely available.”

“This was a frank discussion among medical and communications professionals on how we can more accurately convey the severity and seriousness of what’s happening inside of our hospitals and throughout our communities,” the spokesperson said. “Specifically, the data we have been sharing does not include patients who remain hospitalized for COVID-19 complications even though they are no longer on COVID-19 isolation, so it does not provide a complete picture of the total impact of COVID-19 on our patients and on our hospitals.”

The hospital continues to be concerned with misinformation, the spokesperson said, and that it strives “to be transparent and tell the whole story.”

    • global news – About 20,000 Quebec health workers still not fully vaccinated as deadline mandate looms

But he has also asked regional health officials to prepare a contingency plan in the event vaccination targets aren’t met. Some workers could be assigned to administrative tasks from home, according to Dubé.

Last week, the government announced it will move forward with the controversial health order. The measure will apply to employees in the public and private sector — ranging from medical professionals to housekeeping and security staff.

The plan comes after the government held committee hearings in August on its proposed plan for health-care workers and as the province faces a fourth wave of the pandemic. At the time, Dubé said 30,000 employees in the health system were not fully vaccinated.

“So we got 10,000 people out of the 30,000 people who were not vaccinated in the past two weeks,” he said Thursday.

When asked about the mandate, the province’s premier defended the decision to make immunization mandatory for health workers.

“Well, like I said, since the beginning that we have to make difficult decisions,” François Legault said.

When asked about a potential break in health services if there aren’t enough workers, Dubé said there are “other methods.” He said he rather have a fully vaccinated orderly from an agency work in the system than have unvaccinated workers in contact with patients.

“It’s an alternative,” he said. “I do not like it, but I will never accept that a vulnerable patient is treated by an unvaccinated person.”

Amid a shortage of nurses, Dubé also said the government wants to attract at least 4,000 of them to work in the public network through various financial incentives, which have yet to be announced.

    • Forbes – Who’s Refusing Covid Vaccinations—And Why

Over 100,000 Americans are currently hospitalized with Covid-19, and over 1,000 people are dying every day. These are people from all walks of life – rich and poor, white collar and blue collar, old and young.

But according to an estimate from the Kaiser Family Foundation, over 98% of them have one thing in common: despite the ready availability of Covid vaccines, they chose not to get them.

The fact that Covid-19 has become a “pandemic of the unvaccinated” has been well-covered, and it dominates communications from public health authorities.

However, millions of Americans who are eligible for shots still choose not to get them, and FDA approval of Pfizer’s vaccine doesn’t seem to have changed the rate of vaccinations nor people’s views on getting it.

Some of those sitting out the shot are adamantly opposed to the vaccine while others claim to still be on the fence.

Here’s a look at the adults who are still refusing to get a Covid vaccine, according to an analysis of nationwide polls.

    • GERMANY – QUERDENKEN – Facebook cracks down on German anti-COVID restrictions group over ‘social harm’

Sept 16 (Reuters) – Facebook (FB.O) has removed a network of accounts linked to an anti-COVID restrictions movement in Germany as it announced a new crackdown on coordinated campaigns of real users that cause harm on and off its platforms.

Reuters exclusively reported on Thursday that Facebook’s security teams were expanding the tactics used to take down influence operations using fake accounts to do more wholesale shutdowns of coordinated groups of real-user accounts causing harm, through mass reporting or brigading.

In a related change, Facebook has also been working for several months to use its tactics against “coordinated social harm,” its head of security policy Nathaniel Gleicher said in a call with reporters on Thursday.

He said these campaigns typically involve tightly-organized networks of real users who systematically violate its policies to cause harm, including away from Facebook, but do not violate the company’s rules on influence operations using fake accounts or against dangerous organizations.

The changes could have major significance for how the world’s largest social media network handles organized political and social movements on its sites. In a recent report on influence operations, the company said a key trend it saw was the blurring between authentic public debate and manipulation by foreign and domestic campaigns.

How platforms should enforce against offline activities, which is often described vaguely in their rules, is also an area of debate which has gained attention in connection with violent events such as the U.S. Capitol riot.

Querdenken is a movement of protesters who have railed against coronavirus restrictions in Germany. Facebook said the network operated by individuals associated with Querdenken used authentic and duplicate accounts to post and amplify harmful health misinformation, hate speech and incite violence across multiple internet services. Facebook also said the movement had been linked to off-platform physical violence and COVID related social harms.

The Querdenken movement did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Facebook, which has been under scrutiny over its handling of anti-vaccine and COVIDw-19 misinformation which has proliferated online during the pandemic, said it was not banning all Querdenken content from its platforms.

It said it had blocked its domains from being shared and had taken down fewer than 150 Facebook and Instagram accounts, Groups and Pages.

The World Bank Group today released the findings of its probe into data irregularities discovered in 2018 and 2020 reports; and along with those findings, it confirmed that it will be discontinuing ‘Doing Business’ reports.

Specifically, Bloomberg reports that International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva was cited by the World Bank in the probe….

“The changes to China’s data in Doing Business 2018 appear to be the product of two distinct types of pressure applied by bank leadership on the Doing Business team,” the World Bank said in a report Thursday.

The bank cited “pressure applied by CEO Georgieva and her advisor, Mr. Djankov, to make specific changes to China’s data points in an effort to increase its ranking at precisely the same time the country was expected to play a key role in the bank’s capital increase campaign.”

Georgieva served as chief executive officer of the World Bank prior to moving to head the IMF.

France Kills ISIS Leader Behind Deaths of US Troops, Aid Workers
France killed the leader of Islamic State in the Greater Sahara because the group attacked French aid workers, African civilians and U.S. troops, French officials said Thursday, calling him “enemy No. 1” in protracted anti-terrorism efforts in the Sahel.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced the death of Adnan Abu Walid al-Sahrawi overnight. According to Macron’s office, al-Sahrawi personally ordered the killing of six French aid workers and their Nigerien colleagues last year, and his group was behind a 2017 attack that killed U.S. and Niger military personnel.
He was killed in a strike by France’s Barkhane military operation “a few weeks ago,” but authorities waited to be sure of his identity before making the announcement, French Defense Minister Florence Parly told RFI radio Thursday.
She did not disclose details of the operation or where al-Sahrawi was killed, though the Islamic State group is active along the border between Mali and Niger.

ISIS chief in Sahara killed by French forces, Macron says
French forces have killed Adnan Abou Walid al Sahraoui, leader of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISIS-GS), in a drone strike, the French government announced on Thursday.
Al Sahroui succumbed to his wounds, suffered in a strike on a motorbike carrying two people during a French-led air and ground operation in Mali, French minister for the armed forces Florence Parly said at a press conference.
The operation took place between August 17 and 22, 2021, Parly said.
He had earlier tweeted Thursday that military and intelligence agents had contributed to a “long-term hunt” for the ISIS-GS leader, which she described as a “decisive blow” for the group.
“This is another major success in our fight against terrorist groups in the Sahel,” President Macron tweeted.
ISIS-GS was established in 2015 after al Sahraoui broke from the al Qaeda-associated al-Murabitun group — another splinter group based in Africa.
In 2017, al Sahraoui claimed responsibility for the ambush of United States forces in Niger that killed four American soldiers.
The US State Department designated ISIS-GS as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 2018, and announced in 2019 a $5 million reward for information leading to the capture of al Sahraoui.

  9. Latvia: State railway company introduces train wagons for vaccinated passengers

Latvia’s state-owned Pasazieru vilciens (PV) railway company on Wednesday introduced separate train wagons for those people with a valid Covid-19 certificate of vaccination, recovery, or negative test.

The experiment takes place on selected PV train routes and allows people in the special wagons to travel without a face covering and social distancing. In regular wagons, wearing a mask is required and the passenger number has been limited to 85 percent of the capacity.

One passenger, Karlis, said he was not against the idea.

“I think there is no problem, why not. If people have enough seats, they can go in their own wagons. If there are not enough seats, then, of course, there is another problem,” he said.

Another passenger, Yulia, said she considered the Covid-19 wagons unnecessary as some people cannot get inoculated due to medical reasons.

“It is not necessary to divide people into vaccinated and unvaccinated. Everyone is equal,” she said.

The special wagons will be introduced between September 15 and the end of the month on return routes between Riga – Kraslava, as well as Riga – Rezekne II.

SOT, Karlis, passenger (Russian): “I don’t care at all. I think there is no problem, why not. If people have enough seats, they can go in their own wagons. If there are not enough seats, then, of course, there is another problem. Which… Why not”.

SOT, Yulia, passenger (Russian): “It is not necessary to divide people into vaccinated and unvaccinated. Everyone is equal. Someone can’t get vaccinated for health reasons.”

  12. In New Zealand, There Have Been More People Killed by the ‘Vaccines’ Than by Covid

    By J.D. Rucker • Sep. 16, 2021

    GAB Telegram Tweet Share

In locked down New Zealand, there have been more recorded Covid-19 “vaccine” deaths than Covid deaths based on the latest numbers. Their tracking system indicates 40 people have reportedly died as a result of the vaccines while 27 have died from Covid itself.

Journalist Elijah Schaffer carefully shared these numbers on Twitter. A recent crackdown on “anti-vaxx” statistics and commentary likely prompted Schaffer’s use of phrases like “possibly related” and “in theory.” Many who have made similar statements without the qualifiers have been swiftly banned by Big Tech sites.
