Reader’s Links for August 7, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

        • “Enforcement:
The U.S. Catholic Bishops accept the legitimate role of the U.S. government in intercepting unauthorized migrants who attempt to travel to the United States.

The Bishops also believe that by increasing lawful means for migrants to enter, live, and work in the United States, law enforcement will be better able to focus upon those who truly threaten public safety: drug and human traffickers, smugglers, and would?be terrorists.

Any enforcement measures must be targeted, proportional, and humane.”

“…law enforcement will be better able to focus..”

This is an interesting recommendation from The Official Representatives of the Person who sought to heal the sick of Israel.

Those who steal from the US population, (say, economic thieves or anchor baby thieves), do not go the heaven. Because, if someone then steals from them – they become outraged. Period. Those who become champions for everything wrong with others: to hide their guilt. A savior-complex of denial grows into a Born Again Identity. Gratefully received from politicians on far Left and far, far Left – a virtue of votes returned for their perfect self-deception disguise.

Drug smugglers are more honest. They at least know that they are thieves. Salvation is not lost to them.

Who really are the more dangerous to your country?

I stumbled across this article after starting to put together an idea that occured to me. Not many people realize how this all began. So now you know the whole George Floyd debacle began because he passed a fake $20 bill.

Counterfeit money carries serious penalties in all countries, I believe. Where I checked prosecutions can be 15-25 years in the big house plus a fine. I guess they make you pay that fine in real money, and not the stuff you made, which is rather harsh.

I asked myself what is the difference for the U.S. government, or any sovereign government, between counterfeit money and cryptocurrencies? Both compete with legal tenders, and such a state of affairs has never been allowed to exist. When it comes to any threats to government money, or the source of its earnings such as taxation, its reaction has been historically quick and harsh. The message is: if you challenge taxes or the coin of the realm, this is what you’ll get:

So why would cryptocurrencies be permitted to proliferate, increase in value, remain largely anonymously held, and allow money transfers across international borders, without being immediately shut down long ago? No such threat to currencies and taxes has ever been entertained before. This is my question.

My answer comes partly from what I know has been happening in central banking for the last few years. Many central banks have been adding gold bullion to their coffers as quickly as they could afford to do so. I don’t think the Russians and Chinese are terribly worried about accumulating crypto at this stage:

This accumulation is happening while countries wean themselves off of U.S. treasuries. It seems to also be in preparation of a global adjustment in the money system similar to what happened August 15th, 1971. You need gold to sit at the table of adjustments. The more gold you have the more say you have in how the new system works.

It’s no secret how cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin have siphoned off some of the market for physical precious metals. This diversion has helped considerably to keep the precious metals market range bound, or suppressed. Don’t forget, the spot price you read is only for paper, not physical.

There has been no logical reason for central banks to tolerate cryptos, imho, other than to better facilitate the accumulation of physical precious metal for sovereigns and elites. After all, I am doubtful our elites will criminalize themselves by outlawing the highest form of money again. Such outlawing won’t even be necessary, since such a small percentage of the population owns metals. I’m quite sure, however, that by the time the world is ready for its financial reset cryptos will have served their dual purpose: to help suppress the bullion market for the benefit of the elites, and to wet the public appetite for the GOVERNMENT-ISSUED currencies currently being prepared for mass consumption. One possible distinction of the new digitals may be that they are, in fact, sovereign in name only, for they may actually function in the service of the Bureau for International Settlements:

    • This is very good, I hadn’t thought about this but it makes sense, this gives the people someplace to park their money while the Big Banks secure a lot of Gold Reserve. And you make a good point about it being unlikely that possession of Gold will once again be outlawed, too many of the moneyed elite have large amounts of physical Gold.

        • You know I have been skeptical about the Crypto’s from the beginning, I will admit that at the beginning I wondered why the various governments didn’t crack down on them for counterfeiting. Your idea not only explains that but makes it a high order probability that 1 or more of the Crypto’s were started by and are being run by either a Government or more probably one or more of the Central Banks.

        • True, I’m not sure how many of the true conservative rich think the same way but in a lot of ways that doesn’t matter.

How ever I agree with Johnny it is unlikely that possession of precious metals will be outlawed. The self proclaimed elite are having encountering enough resistance to their power grab without adding one more straw on the camels back.

    • Note how this is temporary refuge, Biden/Obama are trying to buy/blackmail the Chinese community in the US to vote for the Dems or get the refuge for the Hong Kongers cancelled.

“The vaccines focus on the spike protein whereas natural immunity focuses on the entire virus. Natural immunity – – with a more diverse array of antibodies and T-cell receptors- – will provide better protection overall as it has more targets in which to attack the virus, whereas vaccine-derived immunity only focuses on one portion of the virus, in this case, the spike protein. once that portion of the virus has mutated sufficiently, the vaccine is no longer effective.”

The CDC now says even those people fully vaccinated for COVID are able to get and spread the virus.

  6. Afghani woman arrested over arson attempt in Athens

A foreign national who claimed she is Afghani was arrested at Pedion tou Areos park in Athens on Friday afternoon by police patrolling the area after a ban forbidding visits to parks and forests throughout Greece.

The Afghani woman was arrested around 17:30, a few minutes after a fire broke out in the park on the side facing Alexandras Avenue. It was put out immediately by the Fire Brigade.

Two lighters, petrol and flammable materials, as well as a gas canister to fill lighters was found with Afghani woman.

Police said the Afghani woman was emotionally disturbed. The suspect was initially taken to the Kypseli police station and from there to the investigators of the Fire Brigade.

Hardalias said three people were arrested Friday — in the greater Athens area, central and southern Greece — on suspicion of starting blazes, in two cases intentionally.

Police said the suspect detained north of Athens had allegedly lit fires at three separate spots in the area ravaged by the large blaze, which first broke out Tuesday.

Greek and European officials also have blamed climate change for the large number of fires burning through southern Europe, from southern Italy to the Balkans, Greece and Turkey.

The 9/11 families are telling President Biden to stay away from 20th anniversary events at Ground Zero unless he backs their push to expose suspected Saudi links to the terror attacks.

“If he doesn’t do something to uncover Saudi involvement he should stay away,” Brett Eagleson, who lost his father on 9/11 as the Twin Towers toppled, told the Herald Friday evening.

“I want him in this fight, but maybe this is the pressure we need,” Eagleson added. “He’s got to do something.”

The entire 9/11 group — 1,600 strong — signed and released a statement earlier in the day calling for Biden to fulfill his campaign promise and authorize the release of documents that detail Saudi Arabia’s role in the 9/11 attacks.

  8. Biden administration extends student loan pause through January
    3 minutes

The Education Department on Friday extended federal student loan relief through Jan. 31, giving Americans another four months of no payments or interest.

The pause on payments was first enacted by the Trump administration in March 2020 to help those economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The department said the additional time will give borrowers time to plan for resuming payments, reducing delinquencies and defaults after the restart.

“The payment pause has been a lifeline that allowed millions of Americans to focus on their families, health, and finances instead of student loans during the national emergency,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said.

Washington — U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the Detroit Democrat, is introducing legislation in Congress this week that would wipe out utility debt accumulated during the pandemic by low-income households in an effort to ensure homes aren’t cut off from essential water, electricity and broadband services.

The bill is a companion to legislation introduced in the spring by Oregon Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley.

The bill would create a new loan-to-grant program to provide nearly $40 billion in emergency low-interest loans for water, electric and broadband providers. The loans would be forgiven in whole or in part after the utility cancels outstanding debts for residential accounts for the period covered by the public health emergency.

Forgiving the loans would be conditioned on the utilities not using punitive measures to force payments, such as disconnecting customers or charging late fees. Tlaib said the legislation also would bar loan recipients from selling household debt to debt collectors and from placing liens on households over outstanding utility debt.

Pennsylvania now requires individuals filing for unemployment compensation to prove their identity before receiving payments.

In an effort to prevent fraudulent claims which have plagued the online unemployment system, Pennsylvania has hired, a McLean, Virginia-based company, to authenticate users.

Since 2020, some 27 states have hired for unemployment verification, including Pennsylvania, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.

“We are also now under contract with an additional two states. Spokesman Nicholas Michael told The Epoch Times. “Our federal partners include the Department of Veterans Affairs and Social Security Administration.”

The Biden Justice Department Can’t Seem To Produce the Evidence It Supposedly Used To Indict the January 6th Protest Cases. | Human Events
    17-22 minutes

There has been a severe lack of urgency in how the Biden Justice Department (DOJ) has gone about complying with its post-indictment due process obligations owed to defendants charged in connection with the January 6th protests. Under federal law, the prosecution has no “rights” when it comes to criminal cases—all “rights” belong to and are owed to defendants, by both the Executive and Judicial Branches. It is the obligation of the Executive to afford defendants their rights in the manner in which investigations and prosecutions are conducted; it is the duty of the Judiciary to ensure that the defendant’s rights are protected from deprivation by the misconduct of the Executive until such time as a jury determines the defendant’s guilt.

  12. the telegraph – Variants could be named after star constellations when Greek alphabet runs out, says WHO Covid chief

UN health agency fears variants of concern could outnumber the 24 letters of the Greek alphabet, Maria Van Kerkhove tells the Telegraph

New coronavirus variants could be named after star constellations once letters of the Greek alphabet are exhausted, a senior World Health Organization official has suggested.

In an interview with the Telegraph Maria Van Kerkhove, the WHO’s technical chief for Covid-19, said the UN health agency was already looking at new names for mutations amid fears there will be more concerning variants than the 24 letters of the Greek alphabet.

That system was introduced in late May and so far 11 mutations have been named: four variants of concern, including delta and beta; four variants of interest, such as eta and lambda; plus epsilon, zeta and theta, thought to be “of interest” but since downgraded.

But as the coronavirus continues to mutate, it is possible there will be more key strains than available letters.

Dr Van Kerkhove said star constellations are the current frontrunnerto follow the Greek alphabet, suggesting we could one day see variants known as Aries, Gemini or Orion.

Several alternatives have already been dismissed, including Greek gods and goddesses – partly due to concerns about pronunciation.

“We will possibly run out of the Greek alphabet, but we’re already looking at the next series of names,” said Dr Van Kerkhove, who first requested a colloquial naming system last year to prevent variants being linked to places – a practice deemed discriminatory by the WHO.

“We’re actually considering star constellations,” she added. “We were going to go with Greek gods or goddesses, and I said please, please don’t make me say that publicly.”

The next choice – which won’t affect the scientific names of Sars-Cov-2 variants – could be announced “relatively quickly”. Currently the virus evolution working group and the WHO’s legal team are double checking proposals to “make sure we don’t upset anyone with these names”, Dr Van Kerkhove said.

It comes as efforts to track new variants are ramped up across the globe, amid concerns that a mutation could emerge which evades existing vaccines.

“It’s a real threat,” said Dr Van Kerkhove. “It’s certainly possible that you could have mutations that will evade our countermeasures… and that’s why it’s so critical that we just don’t rely only on vaccines, that we do everything we can to really drive transmission down.”

Speaking from the WHO’s headquarters in Geneva after her first holiday since the coronavirus emerged 19 months ago, the epidemiologist added that a dangerous new variant is more likely to emerge in three instances.

In areas with intense transmission rates; in animal populations, for instance in mink farms; and in places with high vaccination rates where the virus is still circulating widely.

Yet gaping “blind spots” in the global surveillance network remain, with much of the world still relying on patchy testing and limited sequencing capacity – especially in Africa and parts of South America, Dr Van Kerkhove said, pointing to a map hanging in her office.

Accelerating efforts to close these gaps will be essential, not just to curb the spread of concerning new variants before they become dominant, but to better prepare for ‘disease X’ – an as-yet-unidentified pathogen with the potential to trigger another pandemic.

“Our blind spots are reducing, but there’s a long way to go,” Dr Van Kerkhove said. “We’re trying to harness the world’s energy, expertise, capacities and financing – because there’s a lot of money in this area right now – to make sure we support and nurture what has started.

“It’s a catalytic moment right now in terms of surveillance, in terms of sequencing – not only for Sars-Cov-2, but for the next ‘disease X’, and for all these emerging and re-emerging pathogens that we’re tracking,” she added.

“The next ‘disease X’ is out there, so how do we leverage this traumatic experience that the world is going through for infectious pathogens?”

But variants are not what keeps Dr Van Kerkhove awake at night, “it’s complacency” – reinforced by a sense of endlessly “screaming into the wind”.

“It’s the notion that it’s over for some and not for others – that the ‘haves’ can just go back to their lives, and forget about the ‘have nots’,” she said.

“I feel incredibly frustrated right now that we’re in this situation that we’re in 19 months in, when we know what to do when, we know how to do it – we just don’t have the collective will to,” Dr Van Kerkhove added.

“And then on the other hand, I feel very hopeful because I know that we can do this, I know that the global community could actually come together and get to a point where we remove the severe disease, the deaths.

“I feel very bipolar in this situation – with just extreme hopefulness and, you know, deep despair,” she said. “I wish I knew [when the pandemic would end].”

  15. MASS PSYCHOSIS – How an Entire Population Becomes MENTALLY ILL

In this video we are going to explore the most dangerous of all psychic epidemics, the mass psychosis. A mass psychosis is an epidemic of madness and it occurs when a large portion of a society loses touch with reality and descends into delusions. Such a phenomenon is not a thing of fiction. Two examples of mass psychoses are the American and European witch hunts 16th and 17th centuries and the rise of totalitarianism in the 20th century.

This video will aim to answer questions surrounding mass psychosis: What is it? How does is start? Has it happened before? Are we experiencing one right now? And if so, how can the stages of a mass psychosis be reversed?
