Reader’s Links for July 23, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

Kamala Harris: Getting vaccinated is ‘the very essence’ of the Bible saying ‘love thy neighbor’

Preach it, Sister Kamala. Woke Preacher Clips video, YouTube

Vice President Kamala Harris expressed this opinion back on 12 July at a vaccine mobilization event in Detroit. It’s been out there for a while now. Most commentators have given it the “But Willie Brown!” treatment, so feel free to fill up on that at your leisure. (H/t: Gateway Pundit)

I want to briefly make another point, one I see as more profound and fundamental. Here is Harris uttering her words (start at 1:28 for just the relevant passage):

    • “This prompts the question what else you may have to do, to qualify in Harris’s or someone else’s eyes as “loving your neighbor.” Do you really have to inject things into your own body to demonstrate that you love your neighbor? If so, who sets the boundaries on what those things may be? If the day comes when someone proclaims that allowing yourself to be euthanized is the way to show that you love your neighbor, what will be the principle on which you refute that argument?”

So is a forced marriage is not a forced marriage when only you say it’s good for the whole community?

And they can’t answer, because the femaled (Socialists on the Far Left and Far Far Left, Sub and Dom), never balance this Rule with, ‘love you Father God with all your strength…’

It is first, to recognize g-d in a person, even if they don’t.

So that you will never-ever have to inject things into your own healthy body without your consent.

They won’t force you. They’ll just keep a distance even though they are ridiculed and laughed at in return.

  2. the times of Israel – Israeli, UK data offer mixed signals on vaccine’s potency against Delta strain

Local research claims Pfizer shot now only 41% effective against symptomatic COVID, while British stats have it at 88%

New data from Israel and the United Kingdom painted a confusing and contradictory picture on Thursday as to the effectiveness of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine in fighting off the Delta variant of the coronavirus.

New Health Ministry statistics indicated that, on average, the Pfizer shot — the vaccine given to nearly all Israelis — is now just 39% effective against infection, while being only 41% effective in preventing symptomatic COVID. Previously, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was well over 90% effective against infection.

Meanwhile, a new UK study published this week in The New England Journal of Medicine found the same vaccine to be 88% effective in preventing symptomatic COVID — more than twice the rate found in the Israeli data.

Israel’s research agreed, at least, that the shot was highly effective in avoiding serious illness, at 91.4% effectiveness.

Some analysts have warned that the figures on vaccine effectiveness are prone to major inaccuracies because of a range of factors, including questions over whether there is accurate data on infection levels among the non-vaccinated, which is vital for such stats.

The Israeli statistics also appeared to paint a picture of protection that gets weaker as months pass after vaccination, due to fading immunity. People vaccinated in January were said to have just 16% protection against infection now, while in those vaccinated in April, effectiveness was at 75%.

Doctors note that such figures may not only reflect time that has passed since vaccination, but also a bias according to which those who vaccinated early were often people with health conditions and who are more prone to infection, such as the elderly.

Reacting to the Israeli figures on Thursday, epidemiologist Nadav Davidovitch, a Ben-Gurion University professor and leader of Israel’s doctors’ union, told The Times of Israel, “What we see is that the vaccine is less effective in preventing transmission, but it’s easy to overlook that it’s still very effective in preventing hospitalization and severe cases.”

Davidovitch added: “It’s still excellent, very good in preventing severe cases and death, but less so in preventing transmission. And this is why we can’t rely on vaccinations alone, but also need Green Passes, testing, masks, and the like.”

Davidovitch stressed that all figures should be treated as preliminary and with limited relevance given the relatively small numbers of positive patients at the moment. “It’s quite early to comment, as the number of positive people is still quite low,” he said.

He spoke after ministers approved reinstating the Green Pass, limiting attendance at large events to those who are vaccinated, have recovered from COVID-19, or who present a valid negative test result.

The renewed restrictions will apply to both indoor and outdoor events with over 100 participants, starting on July 29. The requirement to present proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative test from the past 72 hours will only apply to people older than 12. Under that age, there will be no restrictions.

The decision was approved by the so-called coronavirus cabinet, a high-level ministerial forum tasked with leading the government’s pandemic response. It must still be ratified by the government, and is set to be voted on Sunday during the weekly cabinet meeting.

EXPRESS – Macron uprising: Major French rebellion as ‘phenomenal’ revolt planned –President on brink

EMMANUEL MACRON is facing a “phenomenal” protest on Saturday against his latest coronavirus rules, also dubbed “shame health pass” laws.

The French President submitted legislation to parliament which will stop people entering restaurants and bars without a “health pass”, showing they are vaccinated, have had a recent negative test, or have immunity from COVID-19. Opponents say the state is, de facto, forcing people to get jabbed.

The new rule has attracted criticism from politicians across all parties in France and abroad.

Last weekend, police estimated that 100,000 people joined protests against the measures – some of them under the banner of the Yellow Vests. And another round of protests is planned for this weekend.

Former Senator Yves Pozzo di Borgo said President Macron is the “worst President of the Fifth Republic”.

He added: “He leaves a weakened, indebted and fractured France, but thinks only of his re-election.”

National Rally’s Julien Odoul echoed: “Absolute shame. The brutal and unapologetic definition of macronism.”

Les Patriotes leader Florian Philippot urged French residents to gather in Paris this Saturday.

He wrote: “Well, given the feedback, it’s going to be phenomenal on Saturday at Trocadéro!

“People are going to demonstrate for the first time in their lives! Everyone come! Freedom!”

Francois Asselineau, leader of the UPR, also registered his support.

He tweeted: “I will demonstrate Saturday July 24, 2021 in Paris, all French people must demonstrate for freedom and the demonstration must be apolitical!”

Generation Frexit leader Charles-Henri Gallois, who will be speaking at the protest, told “I was not opposed to the political measures against COVID-19 when we had not the vaccination weapon, even if some measures were clearly useless and inconsistent.

“Now that we have the vaccination roll-out quite advanced and we have seen in UK or Israel that even if the cases are up, hospital beds are not overwhelmed and there are not so many deaths, it should allow us to live normal life.

“In that context, Macron’s health pass rules are totally inappropriate and freedom-destructing laws.

“Let’s think that it will be asked to take a train, to go to the hospital, a restaurant or a bar. We talk about daily life activities.

“From what I have seen, there are only two countries with a such extensive health pass: Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. Two dictatorships.

“In fact, it’s a compulsory vaccination because if you don’t do it, you will be second-class citizen.

“Even China does not have a compulsory vaccination for COVID-19.

“Let’s be clear, I’m definitely in favour of vaccination but you should have people vaccinating by persuasion and showing the effectiveness of vaccines. Not by constraining people.

“That is also the difference between democracies and dictatorships. I will fight this health pass with all my heart in France.”

Outside of France, Italian MEP Susanna Ceccardi urged the EU Commission to stop member states from issuing “discriminatory” guidances against Covid.

Earlier this week, she said: “The green pass is not a discriminatory weapon against European citizens.

“Macron’s proposal to make it mandatory to enter bars, restaurants, cinemas, goes beyond the scope of the digital certificate adopted throughout Europe from 1 July for tourist and commercial travel.
French warned normal life may not resume before 2023

As France brings in tougher restrictions to combat a fourth wave of coronavirus, a leading scientist has warned the country not to expect a return to normal life before 2022 or even 2023.

Professor Jean-Francois Delfraissy, who heads France’s Scientific Council advising the government on its Covid strategy, told BFMTV on Friday that patience would be needed.

“We will probably have a new variant and we will be entering into something long term,” he said.

Defraissy emphasised the need to maintain hand-washing and wask-wearing in crowded or enclosed places, even for those who are vaccinated.

He also warned that nightclubs, now allowed to open under restricted conditioned, were places of risk. In European countries with high levels of vaccination, large case clusters had begun in nightclubs, he added.

      Rising infections

France is logging tens of thousands of new coronavirus cases each day, with Health Minister Olivier Véran warning that rising infections showed the “gravity” of the health crisis.

Defraissy said France could see as many as 50,000 new daily cases by the beginning of August, with hospitals feeling the sting by the second half of the month.

The government is banking on vaccination to curb the pandemic, and says it hopes to administer 50 million first vaccine doses by the end of August.

Parliament is this week debating a controversial bill that would require “health passes” to access public spaces, and would force healthcare workers to get vaccinated.

The Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) opted Thursday not to investigate coronavirus-related nursing home deaths in Michigan.

Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania enacted controversial policies to placing coronavirus-infected patients into nursing homes to recuperate, effectively spreading the disease among the most susceptible population.

Last year, the Trump DOJ attempted to get nursing home death data from Whitmer’s administration, and the governor issued a joint statement with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D). The pair argued there were partisan motivations for probing the large coronavirus-related percentage of nursing home deaths.

“This is nothing more than a transparent politicization of the Department of Justice in the middle of the Republican National Convention,” Whitmer and Cuomo, who was embroiled in his own nursing home death scandal, said, according to the Daily Gazette.

Officials say a drug-resistant “superbug” fungus has spread among patients in hospitals and long-term care facilities in Washington, D.C., and a city in Texas and preys on those with weakened immune systems.

The clusters with the Candida auris fungus appear to be unrelated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The spread seems to be related to person-to-person transmissions, officials said.

“Candida auris is an emerging, often multidrug-resistant yeast that is highly transmissible, resulting in healthcare-associated outbreaks, especially in long-term care facilities,” the CDC said in a statement Friday. “Skin colonization with [Candida auris] allows spread and leads to invasive infections, including bloodstream infections, in 5%-10% of colonized patients.”

The final annual budget bill should include a new Civilian Climate Corps to create one million-plus union jobs that bolster energy and climate projects across the country, according to more than 80 lawmakers, including Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts.

The Malden Democrat, who reintroduced the Green New Deal alongside Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York earlier this year, led a letter among a handful of House and Senate Democrats urging Congress to support the civilian group, which has its roots in the New Deal-era Civilian Conservation Corps.

While President Joe Biden included the corps in his initial $2 trillion American Jobs Plan, Congress is now taking up an infrastructure package at half the price tag. Biden’s deal with Republicans has forced progressives to press colleagues to work the corps into the annual budget reconciliation bill — which won’t require support from GOP lawmakers who’ve balked at the Biden administration’s aggressive spending.

5 police officers have been arrested for cattle rustling in South Africa, in connection with the brutal murder of farm Manager Brendin Horner last October.

The ghastly slaying of Horner (22), who was trussed to a fence and tortured to death on his employer’s farm outside Paul Roux in the Free State Province on Oct. 2, 2020, is believed to be connected to livestock theft and police corruption.
