Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. CANADA – Government Giving Quarantine Exemptions To NHL Players While ‘Regular’ Canadians Face Punishment Is A Disgrace

A nakedly political decision that underscores the hypocrisy of those who claim they’re ‘following the science,’ and demonstrates that we lack basic ironclad ‘rights.’

Are you a highly-paid NHL player?

If not, then you are subjected to quarantine rules if you travel.

But if you are, then you’re in luck!

The rules no longer apply to you!

“BREAKING: The federal government has approved a travel exemption for the final 2 rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs that would allow NHL teams to cross the Canada-US border without quarantining. Players and club personnel will be subject to enhanced public health measures.”

  2. Please, indulge me in a deeply personal story.

Back when I was in High School, I took a course on North American Literature – a course taught by a 60’s hippy and a self-described communist. Yet, to his credit, he permitted fair debate, something I engaged in just about every class (yes, it was that long ago).

This particular day, we had crossed the verbal swords more sharply than before, so, I stayed behind after class to chat with him.

He drew the typical false equivalency of the Western Communists of his day: “If you are hungry, and somebody hands you a steak, it does not matter if they are a capitalist or a communist! You’ll take the steak and be loyal to them!”

I thought about it for a fraction of a second and retorted: “Except, that is not what happens… The capitalist will say ‘here is a steak, do this for me and it will be yours’ while the communist says ‘here is a knife – your neighbour has a steak and you don’t. Use this knife and take your neighbour’s steak for yourself!'”

My teacher thought about it for a long time…then admitted I was right.

I wish we were up against these type of leftists now…where reality and reason mattered!

    • “He drew the typical false equivalency of the Western Communists of his day: “If you are hungry, and somebody hands you a steak, it does not matter if they are a capitalist or a communist! You’ll take the steak and be loyal to them!””

This student left, and another approached.

“A Capitalist may loan the steak, and in slow increments have this loan paid back. Plus the interest on what this Capitalist could have made from selling their own steak elsewhere. They then part as friends, for both win. In a country full of Capitalists, cheap loans are available.

Whereas, a Socialist may give a steak they did not own, that they stole from someone else, to give to the person and tell them there is more from where that came from if they serve them. They part as Comrades.

In a Country full of Communists trading in envy, there only the Masses and Oligarchs, controlled by dictators.”

The teacher smiled, “what if a person cannot get a steak because they had become so wretched that no one will invest in them. Where is your charity now?”

“Family. This is why you have been destroying them.”

    • I’ve said this before

Back when I was in school, I had a teacher I, and many others thought was an old pig. He would put his pointer on your sweater and say there are two points about that sweater I really like. Everyday he made disgraceful remarks to the girls.

I told my mother and she said rather than complain to her I should speak to the principal.

The next day I told the girls I was going to the guidance teacher to complain about him. They said they would go with me — make an appointment.

The day of our appointment, instead of 19 girls, there was only me. Later when I spoke with the girls, they all said their parents had told them not to go – – he would fail them, he would make their lives miserable, they should remain quiet.

When confronted about his actions, he cracked, they actually took him away in a straitjacket.

Today, I see an exceptional large number of Canadians, who “stay home, stay safe and keep their mouths shut”.

Perhaps it was the fighting Irish in my mother, but I loved her for it. She would quote Victor Hugo “When dictatorship is a fact, revolution becomes a right”.

I wish more parents taught their children to stand up and be counted – – don’t be a coward.

      • The same technique can be used on any wild animal, that is why so many of the country people recognize what is being done in America and the other Western Nations.

A propos of that, the news from Mexico is quite dire: cartels (presumably, infused with cash due to US border policies) have their own political candidates and have murdered 30 opposing candidates. So, I guess things could be worse in Canada and the US.

        • I watched.

Jordan Peterson has been manifestly unstable for a few years. The tip off was signs of a classic eating disorder. Having lost a dear friend to an eating disorder, I’ve been active in advocacy for family and friends of ED-afflicted for over 20 years.

We actually talked about him in a meeting at the time. He needed a shrink, not another “magic potion” diet. He was withered and pale and hyper. It’s easier to explain away the illness than to confront and intervene.

Then he was hooked on Rx meds. There’s always an offset of personal responsibility, and he had his down pat.

However much sympathy we have for him, however much we appreciate the political pressure he’s faced, nobody’s helping him by abetting denial.

  5. I first read about 2 people being sick and isolated in Wuhan, China on Nov. 6, 2019.

In November 2019, at a time when US intelligence points to a potential COVID-19 outbreak at the lab, the Wuhan lab filed a patent for a device to treat injuries sustained while working with pathogenic viruses in a bio safety lab.

  6. DAILY MAIL – Chinese military scientist ‘filed a patent for a COVID-19 vaccine BEFORE the virus was declared a global pandemic and worked closely with ‘bat woman’ at Wuhan institute’

Scientist Yusen Zhou reportedly filed a patent for a COVID-19 vaccine on behalf of China’s People’s Liberation Army on February 24 2020
China had only declared human transmission of the virus five weeks prior

News that Zhou filed a patent for a vaccine so quickly suggests Chinese officials may have known about the virus much earlier than they admitted

Zhou is also said to have worked closely with the deputy director of the Wuhan Institute of Virology

Some scientists have theorized that the virus was created inside that lab before it inadvertently leaked out

Zhou died in mysterious circumstances in May 2020 – less than three months after filing the patent

WSJ – The Science Suggests a Wuhan Lab Leak

The Covid-19 pathogen has a genetic footprint that has never been observed in a natural coronavirus.

The possibility that the pandemic began with an escape from the Wuhan Institute of Virology is attracting fresh attention. President Biden has asked the national intelligence community to redouble efforts to investigate.

Much of the public discussion has focused on circumstantial evidence: mysterious illnesses in late 2019; the lab’s work intentionally supercharging viruses to increase lethality (known as “gain of function” research). The Chinese Communist Party has been reluctant to release relevant information. Reports based on U.S. intelligence have suggested the lab collaborated on projects with the Chinese military.

But the most compelling reason to favor the lab leak hypothesis is firmly based in science. In particular, consider the genetic fingerprint of CoV-2, the novel coronavirus responsible for the disease Covid-19.

In gain-of-function research, a microbiologist can increase the lethality of a coronavirus enormously by splicing a special sequence into its genome at a prime location. Doing this leaves no trace of manipulation. But it alters the virus spike protein, rendering it easier for the virus to inject genetic material into the victim cell. Since 1992 there have been at least 11 separate experiments adding a special sequence to the same location. The end result has always been supercharged viruses.

A genome is a blueprint for the factory of a cell to make proteins. The language is made up of three-letter “words,” 64 in total, that represent the 20 different amino acids. For example, there are six different words for the amino acid arginine, the one that is often used in supercharging viruses. Every cell has a different preference for which word it likes to use most.

SUMMIT NEWS – Yet Another Scientific Study Concludes COVID Is Likely Lab Engineered

“This fact—that the coronavirus, with all its random possibilities, took the rare and unnatural combination used by human researchers—implies that the leading theory for the origin of the coronavirus must be laboratory escape.”

Another new scientific study has concluded that it is more likely than not that the COVID pandemic originated with a virus engineered inside a lab.

Dr. Stephen Quay and Berkeley physics professor Richard Muller revealed the findings in The Wall Street Journal Sunday, noting that “The most compelling reason to favor the lab leak hypothesis is firmly based in science.”

The scientists added that “COVID-19 has a genetic footprint that has never been observed in a natural coronavirus.”

The research points to the genome sequencing of the virus ‘CGG-CGG’, which is one of 36 sequencing patterns observed, but does not occur in nature.

“The CGG-CGG combination has never been found naturally. That means the common method of viruses picking up new skills, called recombination, cannot operate here,” the scientists assert.

“A virus simply cannot pick up a sequence from another virus if that sequence isn’t present in any other virus,” they add, while also noting that the CGG-CGG combination IS commonly used in ‘gain of function’ research, which is known to have been used with coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The scientists urge that those who believe COVID-19 jumped from animals to humans “must explain why it happened to pick its least favorite combination: CGG-CGG.”

They further ask for an explanation as to “Why did it replicate the choice the lab’s gain-of-function researchers would have made?”

“Yes, it could have happened randomly, through mutations. But do you believe that?” the authors of the study ask, adding “At the minimum, this fact—that the coronavirus, with all its random possibilities, took the rare and unnatural combination used by human researchers—implies that the leading theory for the origin of the coronavirus must be laboratory escape.”

This latest study comes on the heels of a revitalised focus on scientific research by Professor Angus Dalgleish of St George’s Hospital, University of London and Norwegian virologist Birger Sorensen which presents compelling evidence suggesting the virus was manufactured in a laboratory.

As the scientists noted, they were ostracised and ignored until recently when intelligence findings revealed that workers at the Wuhan lab fell sick with COVID-19 symptoms in November 2019.

As the global pandemic unfolded, scores of scientists came forward suggesting the genome sequencing of the virus was unnatural, and should be further investigated. The lab leak theory was effectively shut down, however, when scientists led by Dr Peter Daszak “orchestrated a ‘bullying’ campaign and coerced top scientists into signing off on a letter to The Lancet journal aimed at removing blame for Covid-19 from the Wuhan lab he was funding with US money.”

Daszak, who keeps appearing as the lead figure in investigations of the research he funded with US grant money via his own organisation, reportedly used his influence to get The Lancet to publish the letter, which stated that to even suggest the lab leak theory had any credibility was equal to spreading “fear, rumours, and prejudice.”

The release of Dr Fauci’s emails has also reconfirmed that Fauci was discussing the lab leak scenario with other scientists, and knew full well that it was a distinct possibility, despite making statements to the contrary in public, before any robust scientific research into the matter had been carried out.

Now former head of the Food and Drug Administration, Scott Gottlieb, has revealed that Fauci briefed world health leaders in the spring of 2020 that the lab leak was a possibility.

Appearing on CBS News this past weekend, Gottlieb admitted that Fauci told government health advisors that the virus “looked unusual,” and that scientists he was working with “had suspicions” that it was manipulated.

    • WSJ – U.S. Report Found It Plausible Covid-19 Leaked From Wuhan Lab

The 2020 lab report was used by the State Department in its own inquiry during Trump administration

WASHINGTON—A report on the origins of Covid-19 by a U.S. government national laboratory concluded that the hypothesis claiming the virus leaked from a Chinese lab in Wuhan is plausible and deserves further investigation, according to people familiar with the classified document.

The study was prepared in May 2020 by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California and was drawn on by the State Department when it conducted an inquiry into the pandemic’s origins during the final months of the Trump administration.

It is attracting fresh interest in Congress now that President Biden has ordered that U.S. intelligence agencies report to him within weeks on how the virus emerged. Mr. Biden said that U.S. intelligence has focused on two scenarios—whether the coronavirus came from human contact with an infected animal or from a laboratory accident.

People familiar with the study said that it was prepared by Lawrence Livermore’s “Z Division,” which is its intelligence arm. Lawrence Livermore has considerable expertise on biological issues. Its assessment drew on genomic analysis of the SARS-COV-2 virus, which causes Covid-19, they said.

Scientists analyze the genetic makeup of viruses to try to determine how they evolved and spread in the population. Proponents on both sides of the debate over the origins of Covid-19 have cited such analysis to try to make their case.

A spokeswoman for Lawrence Livermore declined to comment on the report, which remains secret.

The assessment is said to have been among the first U.S. government efforts to seriously explore the hypothesis that the virus leaked from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology along with the competing hypothesis the pandemic began with human contact with infected animals.

One person who read the document, which is dated May 27, 2020, said it made a strong case for further inquiry into the possibility the virus seeped out of the lab.

The study also had a major influence on the State Department’s probe into Covid-19’s origins. State Department officials received the study in late October 2020 and asked for more information, according to a timeline by the agency’s arms control and verification bureau, which was reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

The study was important because it came from a respected national laboratory and differed from the dominant view in spring 2020 that the virus almost certainly was first transmitted to humans via an infected animal, a former official involved in the State Department inquiry said.

The State Department’s findings, which were vetted by U.S. intelligence agencies, were made public in a Jan. 15 fact sheet that listed a series of circumstantial reasons why the Covid-19 outbreak might have originated as a result of a lab accident. They include the assertion that “the U.S. government has reason to believe that several researchers inside the WIV became sick in autumn 2019” with symptoms that were consistent with Covid-19 or a seasonal flu.

The Journal reported last month that this assertion was based, at least in part, on a U.S. intelligence report, that three WIV researchers became sick enough in November 2019 that they sought hospital care.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki has said that the information on the three researchers came from a foreign entity and that additional corroboration is needed. Biden administration officials also have noted that the State Department’s Jan. 15 fact sheet acknowledges that the U.S. government doesn’t know precisely where, when and how the virus was first transmitted to humans.

The existence of the Lawrence Livermore study was reported by the Sinclair Broadcast Group last month and was noted in a recent article by Vanity Fair.

In his statement on May 26 calling for a fresh intelligence investigation, Mr. Biden didn’t reference the classified Lawrence Livermore report, but he said that U.S. national laboratories, overseen by the Energy Department, would augment the spy agencies’ work.

After the initial public reports about the Lawrence Livermore study, Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee—who are conducting their own investigations into Covid-19’s origins—wrote the lab’s director, Dr. Kimberly Budil, requesting a classified briefing on the issue.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a recent interview with Axios that was broadcast on HBO Max that the U.S. needs to get to the bottom of what happened to prevent or mitigate the effects of future pandemics.

The Chinese government, he added, hasn’t provided sufficient access or information to advance international probes into Covid-19 origins.

“What the government didn’t do in the early days and still hasn’t done is given us the transparency we need,” Mr. Blinken told Axios.

Authorities aren’t “taking the steps” to combat vaccine hesitancy, says Professor Mark Kenny from Australian National University’s Australian Studies Institute.

He said there should be a “much better advertising campaign” to combat misinformation about the vaccine.

“We need to do everything we can to avoid… high levels of vaccine hesitancy or just simple, straight-out complacency”.

Professor Kenny told Sky News deaths which occurred after recipients had the jab are not necessarily a result of the vaccine , saying “causation is not the same as correlation”.

According to Professor Kenny, people should not be worried about blood clots as a potential side-effect of the vaccine given catching the virus poses a “bigger threat”.

“Leaders should communicate this and keep communicating it.”

  10. Ischaemic stroke as a presenting feature of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia

A syndrome of vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) has recently been reported following the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 (Oxford–AstraZeneca) recombinant adenoviral vector vaccine encoding the spike glycoprotein of SARS-CoV-2.1–4.

Previously described patients developed thrombosis, mainly affecting cerebral venous sinuses, with thrombocytopenia and antibodies to platelet factor 4 (PF4), but the characteristics of VITT with arterial thrombosis have not previously been described. Here, we report three patients with VITT who presented with ischaemic stroke….

Our observations suggest that, in addition to venous thrombosis, the neurological spectrum of VITT can include arterial occlusion.

Young patients presenting with ischaemic stroke after receiving the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine should urgently be evaluated for VITT with laboratory tests (including platelet count, D-dimers, fibrinogen and anti-PF4 antibodies) and assessment for co-existing venous thromboses; they should be managed by a multidisciplinary team (haematology, neurology, stroke, neurosurgery and neuroradiology) for rapid access to treatments including intravenous immune globulin, methylprednisolone, plasmapheresis and non-heparin anticoagulants, for example fondaparinux, argatroban, or direct oral anticoagulants.

Endovascular therapy or decompressive hemicraniectomy may also be indicated in carefully selected patients.

Clinical review of cerebral venous thrombosis in the context of COVID-19 vaccinations: Evaluation, management, and scientific questions

Ongoing close monitoring and reporting of conditions by frontline clinicians is imperative to local and national public health agencies. Strategies for rapid treatment of CVT and VITT-CVT are outlined here, though information is evolving, and improved understanding of the pathophysiology will further inform future guidance. Working groups in several professional societies and public health agencies, including the World Health Organization, have gathered experts to provide further guidance rapidly.

A particular challenge will be around assessment, monitoring, and management for CVT in resource-limited settings, where specialized clinical services, laboratory and imaging capacity, as well as treatments, are very much limited.

Beyond diagnosis and management, public health specialists and implementation scientists should explore ways to enhance public and professional education to reduce the impact of CVT on the individual’s health and vaccination efforts. It is important to recognize that the risk of CVT from COVID-19 greatly outweighs the risk from COVID-19 vaccines which are overall safe, very effective, and critical to ending the acute phase of this global pandemic.

Texas has joined a coalition of what is now 25 states urging the U.S. Supreme Court to repeal a New Jersey law banning the possession of firearms with magazines that hold more than 10 bullets, arguing the measure violates the Second Amendment and leaves law-abiding citizens less able to defend themselves against dangerous criminals.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced in a statement that he had signed onto an amicus brief (pdf) which argues allowing law-abiding citizens to carry firearms with 11-plus capacity magazines benefits public safety, counterbalances the threat of illegal gun violence, and helps “make our streets safer.”

  16. Steve Hilton slams Fauci as resurfaced video shows him advocating ‘gain of function’ experiments

Next Revolution host Steve Hilton has slammed Dr Anthony Fauci for ‘lying’ about his role in gain of function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology after a newly resurfaced video shows him advocating the experiments.

The Fox News host claimed Dr Fauci has lied about his knowledge of the origins of Covid-19 and the alleged U.S. funding of gain of function research at the Wuhan lab.

Hilton also claimed that the video of Dr Fauci will ‘put to rest any question’ that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) commissioned gain of function research on bat coronaviruses in Wuhan.

In the resurfaced video from 2012 at a gain of function conference, Dr Fauci, the head of the NIAID, said research was ‘integral’ to understanding the genes of viruses.

Two U.S. experts have penned a damning essay saying that science strongly suggests the novel coronavirus was manufactured inside a Chinese laboratory.

The claim was made by Drs Stephen Quay, CEO of biopharmaceutical company Atossa Therapeutics Inc, and Richard Muller, a physics professor at the University of California Berkeley, in The Wall Street Journal on Sunday.

In the op-ed, the men say their proof lies in genome sequencing, or analyzing the DNA, of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

There are 36 DNA segments – made up of three-letter ‘words’ – that viruses use to make an amino acid known as L-arginine.

Despite being booted from social media, unfairly impeached twice, the victim of constant harassment and hoaxes and the target of six years of horrific and biased press coverage, Donald Trump remains the only towering figure in the Republican Party. A recent poll showed that 57% of Republicans favored Trump to win the nomination in 2024. His nearest potential challenger registered only 10% support.

With such popularity, it was no surprise that his return to the political stage Saturday night in Greenville, North Carolina was eagerly anticipated. In his triumphant speech, Trump wowed the state’s GOP convention for almost 90 minutes.

It was clear from the beginning of his address that President Trump intends to exercise strong control over the Republican Party. He wants to make sure “America First” Republicans are elected, instead of the establishment types who have led the GOP to recent defeats.

Google, Amazon, and Israel in the New America
Tech giants unite in their hostility toward Israel.

America is changing before our eyes. But the Israeli Finance Ministry apparently hasn’t paid it any mind.

Last week, the head of procurement at the Finance Ministry’s Accountant General’s Office formally announced that Amazon and Google had won the government tender to provide cloud services to the government as Israel moves forward with the first phase of the Nimbus Project. Tender bids submitted by Microsoft and Oracle were rejected.

The Nimbus Project is a massive, multiyear project that will replace the data management infrastructure of government ministries and the IDF….

When the government computer systems migrate to Google and Amazon’s data clouds, these firms will manage all of official Israel’s non-classified data and computerized applications…

During this month’s “Operation Guardian of the Walls,” some 250 Google employees who identified as anti-Zionist Jews wrote a letter to Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai. Finland’s football association has begun offering a free “sports hijab” to any player who wants one, in a move designed to attract more players into the sport.

So far the FA has distributed “dozens” of the headscarves, which are made out of stretchy fabric, to young players, in a move which has “a symbolic importance” to making the sport more accessible.

This month, Finland’s men will make their debut appearance at the European Championships, while the country’s women’s team has also for the first time made the Euro 2021 finals.

  22. bbc – Merkel’s party wins final Saxony-Anhalt vote by big margin

Germany’s centre right has fended off a challenge by the far right in the last regional test before national polls in September, partial results show.

The Christian Democrats (CDU) of Chancellor Angela Merkel won 37% of the vote in the state election in Saxony-Anhalt, in the former East Germany.

It did much better than opinion polls had predicted.

The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) took 21%, after nearly equalling the CDU in the opinion polls.

Deutsche Pravda – Opinion: Saxony-Anhalt election result is a clear victory for Armin Laschet

The CDU secured a resounding win in Saxony-Anhalt giving its chancellor candidate a vital boost. It shows that the far-right AfD can be defeated — even in Germany’s east, writes DW’s Rosalia Romaniec.

The fear was immense. In opinion polls before the election, the right-wing Alternative for Germany, AfD, was closely chasing the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). In some polls, the AfD was even pulling ahead. A victory for them in the eastern German state would have marked a historic turning point and a threat to Germany’s political mainstream, just a few months before the federal election. But that horror scenario turned out to be a mirage for the right-wing populists.

Even though the AfD is still the second leading political force in Saxony-Anhalt, the CDU has shown that it can mobilize voters — for democracy and against the AfD.

[…]The CDU acquired more than 36% of the vote — far beyond what surveys had predicted.

  24. the gateway pundit – Gen. Mike Flynn Drops Powerful Video – Trump Warns “Dishonest and Corrupt” Evildoers What’s Coming, “It’s Our Turn, And the Gloves Are Off”

President Trump: As everybody knows, my family, your great country and your president have gone through a terrible ordeal by some very dishonest and corrupt people.

They have done everything possible to destroy us and by so doing have very badly hurt our nation.

They know what they are doing is wrong.

But they put themselves far ahead of our great country.

Weeks ago and again yesterday courageous Republican politicians and leaders had the wisdom, fortitude and strength to do what everyone knows was right.

I don’t like people who use their faith for justification for doing what they know is wrong.

Nor, do I like people who say, “I pray for you,” when they know that that’s not so.

So many people have been hurt.

We can’t let that go on.
