Reader’s Links for April 26, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

A crowd of people improvised a party on Buttes Chaumont park on Sunday in Paris.

A large crowd of people were seen dancing, smoking, and having fun without wearing masks nor respecting social distancing.

Security guards at the Parisian park dispersed the crowd shortly before 7 PM local time (17:00 GMT) when the coronavirus curfew kicked in.

Gatherings of more than six people in public are currently prohibited and punishable by a fine of 135 euros ($163).

Hundreds of people filled a Paris park on Sunday, a show of defiance to the ban on public gatherings imposed by the government on the public in France’s COVID-19 fight.

A crowd of around 300 people danced and cheered as electronic music blasted from a loudspeaker in the capital’s Buttes-Chaumont park during the party, which some have deemed to be “improvised.”

“I think people are just telling themselves, ‘Actually, we don’t care. We’ll do as we please, we’re careful with the masks on and all that,'” partygoer Giovanni said.

Public gatherings in France are limited to a maximum of six people as the country faces its third nationwide lockdown.

  2. teh daily caller – Americans Will Officially Need A Vaccine Passport For Travel To Europe In 2021

Americans will need a vaccine passport in order to travel to Europe this summer.

More than one year after the European Union shut down nonessential travel from most of the world, the bloc will reopen its borders to American tourists this summer. There’s one catch: those tourists will have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen told The New York Times.

American and European officials have reportedly been in talks on how to create a vaccine certificate to clear citizens for international travel. “All 27 member states will accept, unconditionally, all those who are vaccinated with vaccines that are approved by E.M.A. (European Medicines Agency),” von der Leyen told the Times.

All three vaccines currently being used in the United States, from Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson, have been approved by the EMA. European regulators have also authorized use of AstraZeneca’s vaccine, which is awaiting approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Details on how exactly travelers will prove their vaccination status are still being worked out. A low-tech option may suffice in the short term until an official and internationally-recognized vaccine certificate is developed, according to The Times.

President Joe Biden’s administration has publicly stated the U.S. won’t have a government-issued vaccine passport for domestic activities, but a vaccine passport for international travel has been kicked around as a possibility for months. Numerous European countries, a well as others like Israel and China, have also proposed or developed domestic vaccine passes for activities like indoor dining at restaurants and attending sporting events.

Until now, only visitors from countries with exceptionally low COVID-19 levels, such as New Zealand, have been permitted to travel freely to Europe.

The PM warned yet again that it was unfortunately likely that cases will go up as the nation is unlocked and we have “got to be realistic about it”.

The PM also denied reports that he said he’d rather see “bodies pile high in their thousands” than order Britain back into lockdown a third time.

The PM dismissed claims that he made the remarks after a No 10 meeting and insisted Covid restrictions do work.

The PM allegedly made the comments after being told he had no choice but to put the country back under harsh restrictions last October.

But asked during a visit to Wrexham if he had said such a thing, Boris replied: “No.”

He then added: “But I think the important thing that people want us to get on and do as a Government is to make sure that the lockdowns work, and they have.

“I really pay tribute to the people of this country, this whole country that have really pulled together and working with the vaccination programme we’ve got the disease under control.

“Unfortunately there probably will be another wave, but the vaccination programme has been so massive we’ve built up some pretty robust fortifications against the next wave.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said his office is fully cooperating with a Fulton County probe into potential election interference, pushing back against reports that investigators were dissatisfied with the level of cooperation.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, a Democrat, in February opened a probe into attempts to influence the administration of the 2020 election. The investigation includes “potential violations of Georgia law prohibiting the solicitation of election fraud, the making of false statements to state and local governmental bodies, conspiracy, racketeering, violation of oath of office and any involvement in violence or threats related to the election’s administration,” Willis said in letters to Republican Gov. Brian Kemp and other officials.

  8. How scientists at Wuhan lab helped Chinese army in secret project to find animal viruses
    Ian Birrell

Scientists studying bat diseases at China’s maximum-security laboratory in Wuhan were engaged in a massive project to investigate animal viruses alongside leading military officials – despite their denials of any such links.

Documents obtained by The Mail on Sunday reveal that a nationwide scheme, directed by a leading state body, was launched nine years ago to discover new viruses and detect the ‘dark matter’ of biology involved in spreading diseases.

One leading Chinese scientist, who published the first genetic sequence of the Covid-19 virus in January last year, found 143 new diseases in the first three years of the project alone.

The fact that such a virus-detection project is led by both civilian and military scientists appears to confirm incendiary claims from the United States alleging collaboration between the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) and the country’s 2.1 million-strong armed forces.

A series of senior European MPs have been approached in recent days by individuals who appear to be using deepfake filters to imitate Russian opposition figures during video calls.

Those tricked include Rihards Kols, who chairs the foreign affairs committee of Latvia’s parliament, as well as MPs from Estonia and Lithuania. Tom Tugendhat, the chair of the UK foreign affairs select committee, has also said he was targeted.

Kols uploaded a photograph of Leonid Volkov, an ally of Navalny, and a screenshot of his doppelganger taken from the video call. Volkov said the two looked virtually identical. “Looks like my real face – but how did they manage to put it on the Zoom call? Welcome to the deepfake era …” he wrote.

As the United States discusses returning to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal leaked audio has emerged that reveals then-Secretary of State John Kerry told Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif of more than 200 covert Israeli operations in Syria. The leaked audio was shared with The New York Times and also confirmed was had been long suspected, that the decisions of the Islamic Republic are primarily left to the supreme leader or, more frequently, the Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Zarif has already faced criticism for the leaked audio from the foreign ministry, specifically for speaking against General Quassem Suleimani. Suleimani was killed in 2020 by United States troops during the Trump administration.

Maoist New York Goes to Pol Pot With Urban Agriculture – Frontpagemag
    Daniel Greenfield
    12-15 minutes

There’s no idea so insane that a leftist won’t adopt it and taxpayers won’t pay for it.

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.

There’s a story about an old Marxist who would address leftist rallies in Union Square a century ago as, “Workers and Peasants of New York City”. Leftists eventually transform farce into fact and that’s why New York’s number two mayoral candidate is touting a “New Agrarian Economy”.

It’s time to farm one of the most expensive and densely populated cities in the country.

Mao had kicked off China’s worst famine by demanding that wheat be grown everywhere. And New York City’s Maoists are following in his footsteps by trying to farm rooftops and parking lots.

Urban agriculture is one of those obscure lefty ideas so insane that few even believe it exists.

But Mayor Bill de Blasio had already created an Office of Urban Agriculture and the New York City Council, which is so crazy that it makes De Blasio look sane, had declared war on “food inequity”, by vowing to grow food in one of the most densely populated cities on earth.

If your city is going to pot anyway, why not go to Pol Pot?

  12. Zuckerberg Funded 2020 Election Grants in at Least 21 Pennsylvania Counties

The money skewed heavily toward PA’s ‘blue’ counties.
Mon Apr 26, 2021 Todd Shepherd

    Reprinted From Broad and Liberty.

Grant monies awarded to help fund the 2020 election in at least 21 different Pennsylvania counties were heavily skewed toward counties with high Democratic registration and recent voting turnout, an analysis from Broad + Liberty shows.

Pennsylvania Republicans are currently considering legislation that would change the rules for private grants such as these in future elections, requiring them to go directly to the Pa. Department of State to be distributed evenly. Similar bills have been passed in Georgia and Arizona and are being considered in other states.

The funds came from the nonprofit Center for Tech and Civic Life, founded in 2015. The CTCL drew national attention in the runup to the 2020 election after Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan gave $250 million to the nonprofit, according to a CTCL press release from September. A month later, the couple donated another $100 million to CTCL.

Approximately $22 million in total was granted from CTCL to Pennsylvania counties.

Pennsylvania Republicans were skeptical and sometimes irate with the grants, claiming that the nonprofit was buying election infrastructure to help propel Democratic turnout in a state that nearly all agreed would be essential to winning the Electoral College.

Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana County), a sponsor of the Pennsylvania bill, asserted in a The Center Square article that CTCL’s actions may violate the 14th amendment because “all eligible voters must be given equal access to their right to vote.” Allowing grants to some counties and not others is unfair, he said.

“It was 60 years ago this week that an uncertain new president launched an ill-conceived military venture of astonishing naivety… 1,400 U.S.-trained Cuban exiles would land at the Bay of Pigs… It was an unmitigated disaster… Kennedy had learned the hard way not to blindly trust the advice of his decorated military and intelligence chiefs. (Beltway media stalwart and former Democrat White House official Lawrence Hass writing in The Hill, April, 12.)

And yet again, rather than go through the trouble of concocting their own propaganda, communist Cuba’s KGB-founded and -mentored media simply transcribed the U.S. beltway media. Think I exaggerate?

The Bay of Pigs 60th Anniversary, Part II – Frontpagemag

    9-12 minutes

A story of betrayal — and heroism.

Outnumbered over ten-to-one by Soviet-led forces and betrayed by their sponsor, these mostly civilian volunteers fought ’til the last bullet. In three days of relentless, close-quarter fighting they made monkeys of the Soviet commanders at the scene and their Cuban lackeys and cannon fodder, inflicting losses of 20-to-one.

Castro and Che Guevara were jittery there for awhile, urging caution in the counterattack. From the lethal fury of the attack and the horrendous casualties their troops and militia were taking, the two Soviet satraps assumed they faced at least 20,000 invading “mercenaries,” as they called them.

Yet it was a band of mostly civilian volunteers they outnumbered laughably. But to hear Castro’s echo chamber (the Beltway media and leftist academics), Fidel was the plucky David and the invaders the bumbling Goliath!

(We discussed the battle in greater detail last week here.)

In fact, if JFK wanted some genuine Profiles in Courage he might have looked at the men he betrayed on that heroic beachhead. Some of the most jaw-dropping heroics, however, came after the shooting ended, after they’d spent their last bullets and knew no more were coming from their ally, the most powerful nation on earth, the same one that enforced a “no-fly zone” half a country wide on another continent (Iraq) with half the U.S Air Force for a decade—but refused to provide one three miles across, 90 miles away, for half a day with two planes.

Supreme Court to take up right to carry gun for self-defense
    4-5 minutes

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court agreed on Monday to hear an appeal to expand gun rights in the United States in a New York case over the right to carry a firearm in public for self-defense.

The case marks the court’s first foray into gun rights since Justice Amy Coney Barrett came on board in October, making a 6-3 conservative majority.

The justices said Monday that they will review a lower-court ruling that upheld New York’s restrictive gun permit law. The court’s decision to take on the case follows mass shootings in recent weeks in Indiana, Georgia, Colorado and California and comes amid congressional efforts to tighten gun laws. President Joe Biden also has announced several executive actions to combat what he called an “epidemic and an international embarrassment” of gun violence in America.

The case is especially significant during the coronavirus pandemic, said Eric Tirschwell, the legal director of Everytown for Gun Safety, a gun control group backed by former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg. “Gun violence has only worsened during the pandemic, and a ruling that opened the door to weakening our gun laws could make it even harder for cities and states to grapple with this public health crisis,” Tirschwell said.

The head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed Friday that government health officials now officially recommend pregnant ‘people’ receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

Citing a newly published study, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said that while clinical trials of COVID vaccines did not include pregnant people, there’s been surveillance of more than 35,000 pregnant people who opted to get shots after vaccines received emergency use authorizations.

“Pregnant people experienced the same side effects as others following vaccination,” she said.

“We were also able to follow, in detail, more than 3,900 pregnant women, and over 800 of whom have completed their pregnancies,” she said.

“Importantly, no safety concerns were observed for people vaccinated in the third trimester, or safety concerns for their baby,” she said.

Asian Lives Matter or so we thought

Since the coronavirus first began ravaging its way around the world last year, nearly 3,800 hate incidents towards Asian Americans have been reported.

Thus, the Asian Lives Matter movement was born.

But the movement literally has no footing when it really matters. In other words, it’s all for show.

Senate democrats voted overwhelmingly against an amendment Thursday that would “prohibit federal funding for any institution of higher education that discriminates against Asian Americans in recruitment, applicant review, or admissions.”

The amendment was proposed by GOP Texas Sen. Ted Cruz as an addition to the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, which seeks to “designate [an] officer or employee of the Department of Justice to facilitate the expedited review of COVID-19 hate crimes and reports of COVID-19 hate crimes.”

Will Communist China Dominate the Middle East?
    Judith Bergman

After Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s almost week-long recent tour of the Middle East, there can be little doubt that China is actively seeking to expand its influence in the region, not only economically but also militarily, diplomatically and politically, actively challenging the long-standing role of the United States as a dominant power in the region.

  20. ITALY – Black Axe mafia: Italian police arrest 30 Nigerian suspected gang members

Police say they face about 100 charges including drug and people trafficking, prostitution and internet fraud.

The gang allegedly used the Bitcoin cryptocurrency to carry out clandestine financial transactions on the dark web.

Black Axe emerged from Nigeria in the 1970s, where they carried out rape, mutilation, and ritual murders.

They went on to build a powerful international network.

“There is evidence that the members had a direct connection with the Nigerian gang, drawing on the same vocabulary, symbols and affiliation rituals,” Italian police said.

Those arrested are accused of using Bitcoins on the dark web to buy the details of cloned credit cards, which were used for online shopping sprees.

The arrests took place in 14 provinces across the country and included the Black Axe’s alleged leader in Italy – a 35-year-old man who lived in L’Aquila, in the central Abruzzo region, Reuters news agency reported.

  21. The nuclear genie – nourished by Obama, bottled by Trump, let out by Biden. What gives?.

The genie was well and truly bottled until something impish entered the Oval Room and popped the cork. Bomb-crazed Mullahs poured out, cackling over their new lease of life and freakish luck. A President of America had set them loose.…

Christopher Marlow could give another class. Like his creature Mephistopheles (and Hitler after it), Iran will never strike a bad deal – that is, a deal bad for Iran. The pact that Biden is jumping through hoops to revive is a pact with the devil. And it’s a wager infinitely more reckless than Dr Faustus made with his devil. The medic gambled his own soul. Biden, bartering with Iran behind closed doors, gambles with the lives of hundreds of millions.

The devil never deals itself a bad card. It signs pacts with blood, and that’s another thing to bear in mind. The devil also likes to break his word before giving the signatures time to dry, and that’s something else to bear in mind. Pacts with crazies and the paper they’re written on are equivalent in value.

Let no one accuse Tehran of non disclosure. It has revealed its hand – twice now. In the thrall of a dybbuk Obama was blind and deaf to omens. Let Biden not repeat him. Feted honour beckons like a pot of gold. The fate of Marlow’s Dr Faustus was eternal damnation. Yet the gambling medic was not the President of America. Faustus sealed his own fate, not the fate of mankind, which is what a pact with Iran could seal.

New Zealand’s $36 billion sovereign wealth fund divested $4 million from five Israeli banks last month because of their West Bank operations. This could cause reputational and financial problems for New Zealand and for companies managing its sovereign wealth fund.

Flawed information and analysis spurred the fund’s decision. In a letter explaining the move, the Guardians – the government entity that runs New Zealand’s sovereign wealth fund – cites concern about Israel’s plans to annex portions of the West Bank. However, Israel agreed to suspend its annexation plans in September 2020 as part of its peace deals with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain…

Yet even as they condemn Israel, the Guardians invest in one of the world’s leading human rights abusers. The fund holds nearly half a billion dollars’ worth of investments in 625 Chinese companies, including two companies blacklisted by the United States for violating the rights of ethnic minorities. China has detained up to 1 million Uighurs from Xinjiang province, suppressed pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, and continues to occupy Tibet.

Likewise, while the fund divested from Israeli banks, it invests in companies extracting natural resources from another disputed territory. On March 15, New Zealand’s High Court upheld the sovereign wealth fund’s right to invest in companies operating in Western Sahara, a non-self-governing territory occupied by Morocco.…

On their website, the Guardians state that avoiding reputational damage is one of their guiding principles. The fund’s exclusion of Israeli companies while continuing to invest in problematic businesses elsewhere could damage the fund’s reputation if members of Congress voiced their displeasure. This would carry significant weight, since the United States is New Zealand’s third-largest trading partner.

    • Amid COVID, Israel enters top 20 club of nations with highest GDP per capita

For the first time in its history, Israel ranks among the top 20 economies based on GDP per capita, Forbes Israel reports, based on International Monetary Fund data.

GDP per capita breaks down a country’s economic output per person and is a global measure for assessing the prosperity of nations. Small, rich countries and more developed industrial countries tend to have the highest per capita GDP.

According to the data compiled by the publication, with GDP per capita of $43,689 for 2020, Israel ranked 19th out of the top 20, above No. 20 Canada, with per capita GDP at $43,278; No. 21 New Zealand, with $41,127, and the UK with $40,406 at No. 22.

  23. Seth Frantzman:
Here’s how Ankara uses genocide as blackmail – analysis

Turkey’s policy was to pretend it was above history, above ever being held to account or even critiqued. Many US diplomats went along with this; for years they appeared almost more pro-Turkey than Turkey’s own diplomats.

Ankara cast a kind of spell over Western policymakers, usually through quiet or open threats. The ability of Turkey to spread real-world threats has also grown. Last year, it engineered a crisis with France over cartoons published years ago, and its rhetoric likely led to at least one terrorist attack in France.

Turkey will continue to try to leverage Islamist extremism in Europe to its own ends. It has already threatened at various times to use refugees against Europe unless the EU pays it more money. Meanwhile, it radicalizes the refugees and uses them as mercenaries. Turkey played a key role as a conduit for ISIS members from Europe, including providing a base for radicalization.

It is entirely possible that Turkey could end up doing for the next al-Qaeda what Pakistan and Afghanistan did for al-Qaeda of the 1990s: providing a base and conduit for extremism. That trajectory is one that Turkey will ride regardless of whether the US recognizes the genocide.…

Turkey’s genocide blackmail: Threats to work closer with Iran and Russia

The US decision to finally recognize the Armenian genocide comes after decades in which Turkey and its lobbyists in Washington threatened the US. Their narrative was that if Washington would just use the term “genocide” – for a crime committed 106 years ago by a former government in what is now Turkey – then Ankara would rapidly move to sanction the US, close its bases, threaten its citizens and ally with Iran, China and Russia, or other US enemies.

This bizarre, mafia-like threat is the same one that Tehran used regarding the Iran deal. It is because non-Western countries learned that the way to deal with Western countries was to prey on their fears….

Turkey was coddled for many years because it sold itself as a key to helping the West confront the Soviets. When the Soviets were gone in 1989, Turkey shifted its pattern of denial to claims that it wanted to be part of the European Union, was somehow a bridge between the West and Asia, and that if it was offended it might aid Islamist extremism or something….

Supporting extremism comes with its own negatives though, because extremist countries usually suffer economic decline. Turkey’s confrontation with the US over the term “genocide” will be weighed against its desire to have economic power, which underpinned its claims in the past to being of “geopolitical” importance. If it cares about “geopolitics,” as Western analysts claim it does, then it will have more to lose from confrontation. The trend in Ankara was to work with Iran, China and Russia anyway.

  24. Faces of the Holocaust: The Boxer who Fought for his Life at Auschwitz
Salamo Arouch, a young Jewish boxer from Greece, was sent to Auschwitz in 1943. Suddenly finding himself in brutal matches staged to “entertain” the Nazi SS officers, the undefeated Balkan light-medium weight boxing champion was no longer fighting for a title, he was fighting for his life.

Beyond names and numbers, Faces of the Holocaust provides a groundbreaking approach that adds a human context to the quintessential crime against humanity.

  25. Iranian foreign minister: Kerry informed us of hundreds of Israeli covert actions

Talk about burying the lede. The New York Times got information that a high-ranking official in the Obama administration tipped off Iran to Israel’s covert actions, and that news ended up in paragraph 21 … in a 26-paragraph story.

A leaked audio recording of Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reveals that John Kerry revealed that information to Tehran, presumably during the negotiations for the deal with Iran over its nuclear-weapons development…

Let’s chalk that up to poor writing and editing. The decision to bury this lede speaks more to the leadership of the NYT. While no one would be surprised to hear that Israel carries out covert operations against Iran, why in the world would an American Secretary of State pass that information to a regime that leads “Death to America” protests in its streets? Isn’t this the real news in the US, especially with Kerry now joining another administration as its “climate change envoy”?

At best, this shows that Kerry is enormously and irresponsibly indiscreet; at worst, he’s exposing American intelligence to an enemy in order to attack an ally. And frankly, it looks a lot more like the latter than the former, and a lot more like an actual crime by a high-ranking US government official. And the NYT thinks the big story here is — and I quote from the lead paragraph — “Zarif said the Revolutionary Guards Corps call the shots, overruling many government decisions and ignoring advice”? Seriously?

  26. How Iran Made Itself a Haven for Israeli Spies

There’s nothing new in Iran’s paranoid ayatollahs seeing spies, saboteurs and enemies under every rock. But their recent paranoia may be well founded, as the Iranian parliament and media accuse their leaders of allowing the nation to be turned into a “haven for spies,” while openly wondering about the extent of infiltration of the state’s nuclear and intelligence apparatuses.

Iranian officials fear that a substantive clandestine Israeli sabotage network is operating throughout the Islamic Republic, staging assassinations and attacks against strategically sensitive sites, and making Iran’s sprawling intelligence services look ridiculous.

This Mossad network apparently has recruited significant numbers of competent Iranians willing to attack state installations – not a big surprise, given that Iran’s brightest graduates have little to look forward to beyond unemployment, poverty and theological repression.

There is such a sense of national impotence and failure in the face of these attacks that state media has resorted to reporting fake or massively exaggerated retaliatory operations avenging these deaths, along with dubious reports identifying those allegedly associated with the attacks….

  27. Arab Youths Attack Jews in Jerusalem in New TikTok Craze

A new trend appears to be gaining momentum among Arab youths in Jerusalem, who videotape themselves harassing Jews as a “challenge,” which they then upload to the social media platform TikTok.

“There is a competition for likes and views,” said Yedidia Epstein, 15, who was beaten and slapped in the middle of a busy street in Jerusalem. “A video of an Arab slapping a Jew will get you both, so now everyone is trying to get more likes and views.”

  28. Iran again unveils masses of small kamikaze drones

It appears that it’s not a regular week in Iran unless the country is showing off more drones and warning about how it can strike at Israel or everywhere else in the Middle East. People are taking notice as well because US Central Command head Kenneth McKenzie has warned that US air superiority has suffered due to Iran’s drone threat.

The latest is a ceremony where Iran showed off a series of small drones, some of which look like the usual Iranian kamikaze drones, often modelled after their Ababil series. This type of drone, as well as the Qasef, have been exported to Yemen. Tehran said this week that “the Iranian Army Ground Force has unveiled seven domestically-developed high-tech military achievements, including air defense systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and electronic warfare devices.”

Iran has also created new radar for drones…
US Central Command head Kenneth McKenzie has warned that US air superiority has suffered due to Iran’s drone threat.

    Think about this.
For the first time – since when? the Korean War? – the U.S. loses air superiority. WoW.

  29. Jews are top target for hate crimes in US, FBI data shows

New data analysis of the just-released FBI hate crime statistics uncovers a disturbing trend in the United States: Jews are at least three times more likely to experience a hate crime in America than any other ethnic group.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation recently released its Hate Crime Statistics Report highlighting troubling trends related to hate crimes against Jews. According to the report, Jewish people were the targets of over 60% of religious bias-related hate crimes. Jews were targeted at significantly higher rates than any other religious group.

Factoring in the relative proportion of Jews from the total US population, this analysis highlights an alarming result: A Jewish person is three times more likely to experience a hate crime than African Americans and thirteen times more likely than Hispanic Americans. These comparisons are not intended to diminish anyone’s suffering; however, these numbers are alarming and require deep evaluation.
