Reader’s Links for January 22, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. ‘They thanked us for protecting them – then threw us out’: Outrage as 5,000 National Guardsmen are forced to sleep outside and in a parking lot with single bathroom after being told to leave Capitol
Pictures show Guardsmen sleeping on the floor of the packed parking lot after they were moved Thursday
‘Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us. We feel incredibly betrayed’, one soldier said Thursday
The pictures sparked a fierce reaction from politicians on both sides, including AOC and Kevin McCarthy
By midnight Thursday the Guardsman had been allowed back in the Capitol after police ‘apologized’
Senator Tammy Duckworth tweeted to say ‘Capitol Police have apologized to the Guardsmen’
‘They will be allowed back into the complex tonight,’ she added after calling their removal ‘unreal’
Officials said Thursday that of the 26,000 Guard troops deployed to D.C. for the inaugural, just 10,600 remain

    • They had better become used to it as hunting down Trump supporters is probably not far off and if they demur then they too will be targeted.
The leftist view of individuals is well demonstrated by the NKVD(see Stalin) forcing men to walk arm in arm over minefields to clear them
Funny how the Iranian muslims used children for the same thing in the Iraq/Iran war.
(documented by eyewitnesses in both cases I add)
So now we have the ascendant powers of the left and islam rapidly taking control of the world so only a fool cannot see just how well they parallel each other and not know what to expect from them.

      • Florida and New Hampshire have pulled their Guard detachment home because of this action.

The Guard in the individual States will do what the Governors say, I doubt that all of the Governors will order the Guard to hunt down Trump supporters. Even if that order is given how many of the Guard will hunt down their friends, neighbors and family?

You keep saying we need organized, there are organized and trained personal for the civilians to rally around. Remember soldiers aren’t robots they are thinking and feeling individuals and with the complexity of a lot of the modern weapons they are also smart. They aren’t cannon fodder and they will resist a government that is oppressing their families.

Troops in Capitol complex moved from floors inside to parking garage for rest periods

National Guard troops on security duty at the U.S. Capitol take a rest break in … a parking garage. C’mon man. Jan 2021. Via Twitter

It’s hard to know which category to post this in. It’s certainly not “National Security.” That’s really the point, in fact. There’s no good reason for thousands of National Guard troops to still be deployed in and around the U.S. Capitol, considering that the FBI has consistently said it has no intelligence on threats to the inauguration or any other activities in the area since supposed “armed protests” failed to materialize on 17 January.

        We’ll call it “Politics.”

On Thursday, as reported by Politico and local news outlets, National Guard troops resting in an area of the Dirksen Senate Office Building were told to vacate the building and move to a parking garage for their rest periods. The troops have been standing 12-hour duty shifts, and sitting or reclining on the floors inside for their rest breaks. Temperatures outside have been in the 40s and 50s, according to weather reports.

I believe Soros was referring to a future timeline, because he has deep understanding of the marketplace and knew the remaining resilience of Central Banks. As for Gates, no person with such billions of dollars can hedge such wealth in precious metals without upsetting those markets, so land is next.

As for Salinas Price, the manipulation is clear to him as it is to many. The protection of fiat currency by the printing and dumping of fiat precious metals is becoming a tired game that cannot go on forever–no lie can.

The coalition destroyed an explosive-laden boat in the southern Red Sea and an explosive drone destined for Saudi Arabia.

  4. ‘Unacceptable’: Sweden Sounds the Alarm Over Clinics Performing ‘Virginity Repair’ Surgery (sputniknews, Jan 22, 2021)

“The notion that the bride must be a virgin on her wedding night is persistent in so-called honour cultures that have largely permeated Europe in the recent decades of mass immigration.

The Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU) has issued a warning call over clinics offering hymen restoration procedures to girls living in so-called cultures of honour. The procedure is not medically justified and may subject the patient to health risks.

Hymen restoration, also referred to as “virginity repair”, rests on the notion that bride must enter marriage as a virgin and bleed on the wedding night as “proof” that she has been sexually untouched.

RFSU’s newspaper Ottar has been particularly alarmed by the fact that a new such player, the NAB clinic, has opened its doors with a number of branches in Stockholm. A “virginity repair” costs over SEK 15,000 ($1,800). For the money, the clinic promises “small bleeding” on a couple’s wedding night.

The Swedish Association for Obstetrics and Gynaecology said that hymen-reconstruction procedures are “not compatible with science and proven experience” and therefore “should not be performed”, and that “non-medical procedures in female genitalia are prohibited as such”.

Gynecologist Bita Eshraghi, an assistant physician at the Amel clinic for victims of female genital mutilation, yet another phenomenon unseen in Europe before mass immigration, condemned the hymen restoration procedures as “deeply unethical”. She argued that the doctors hereby help reproduce misogynistic norms among immigrants that counteract their integration into modern, ‘enlightened’ Western society.

Eshraghi suggested treating these surgeries in the same way as female genital mutilation and argued that healthcare professionals have a special responsibility to stand up for science and women’s reproductive health.

“We wouldn’t sew together the labia of a woman, as in a pharaonic genital mutilation, because it is something that is required before marriage in certain cultures, would we? Who should stand up for the rights of these women if not even we as healthcare professionals?” Eshraghi told Ottar.

The clinic defended its contentious operations by saying that it is about helping women living with a strong fear of retaliation or punishment from their family, relatives and clan, should they be exposed as not being virgins.

Eshraghi said that she understands that young girls afraid of honour killings may be desperate to seek out clinics of this kind, but argued that it is cynical to exploit their fears and make big money off of it.

“This is unacceptable. If licensed healthcare professionals offer unscientific and oppressive interventions for women, they have misused all trust and should lose their credentials,” Anna Starbrink of the Liberals Party said in a statement.
The practice of “virginity operations” has also been condemned by Gender Equality Minister Åsa Lindhagen, who said it should be stopped.

According to the NAB clinic, it performs about a dozen such operations a year. The exact extent of this phenomenon, however, is impossible to track down due to surrounding privacy. However, it has been estimated that up to 240,000 young Swedes live within the so-called honour culture, based on clan hierarchy, strict religious religious norms and personal oppression.”

Canada’s Supreme Court ruled in 2013 that a major Toronto Hospital could not withdraw life-support from a minimally conscious and severely brain-damaged man without his family’s consent.

Now, in another sign of these extraordinary times, the Ontario government is being asked to temporarily suspend the law requiring doctors get consent of patients or families before withdrawing a ventilator or other life-sustaining treatment from people facing a grim prognosis, should COVID-19 crush hospitals.

  6. Prosecutors to Indict Nine Migrants for Death of Transgender Prostitute (breitbart, Jan 22, 2021)

“The Paris prosecutor’s office is seeking to indict nine migrants for the murder of 36-year-old transgender prostitute Vanesa Campos who was killed in August 2018.

Campos, originally from Peru, was found dying by other prostitutes in the Bois de Boulogne park in Paris’s 16th district on the night of August 16th.

Prosecutors are looking to charge nine migrant men, mostly from Egypt, who were aged between 15 and 30 at the time of the prostitute’s death. Of the suspects, three are believed to be directly involved with Campos’s killing, Le Monde reports.

The suspects are part of a gang led by a man named “El Nano”, or “the dwarf”. The group, which was known for creating tensions with the prostitutes, would raid the sex workers and their clients and steal from them.

To combat the attacks, the prostitutes hired their own security. But on the night of the killing, the migrants were armed with weapons, tear gas, tasers, and even a police-issued firearm that had been stolen from an officer’s car while he was engaged with a prostitute.

Just months after the killing, police arrested nine illegal migrants in connection with the murder.

The man suspected of having used the gun to kill Campos, Mahmoud K., had fled the country. He was not arrested until January 2019 in neighbouring Germany, where he was found in a migrant home.

Just months after the murder, three migrants, also said to be from Egypt, were arrested for robbing transgender prostitutes at the same park in Paris and beating them with sticks.

In October 2019, a gang of Moroccan migrants were put on trial in Rennes for sexually assaulting and robbing prostitutes in several French cities.”

  7. Egypt officials: Bomb kills 1 police and wounds 3 in Sinai (abcnews, Jan 22, 2021)

“The Islamic State has blown up a roadside bomb in the restive northern Sinai peninsula, killing one member of Egypt’s security forces and wounding three others, medical and security officials said late Thursday.

The explosion at dawn Thursday was triggered by a remote-controlled device that targeted an armored vehicle. It was carrying forces on a patrol mission along the Mediterranean coast of the town of Sheikh Zuweid, said the officials, who asked to remain anonymous because they were not authorized to brief the media.

The IS has posted a statement on a militant-affiliated website claiming responsibility for the attack…”

  8. Turkey seeks arrest of judges, prosecutors over coup ties (abcnews, Jan 22, 2021)

“Turkish authorities on Friday issued arrest warrants for 44 judges and prosecutors suspected of links to the group Ankara blames for a 2016 coup attempt, state-run media said.

The Anadolu news agency, citing a statement from the Ankara Chief Prosecutor’s Office, reported that most of the suspects were believed to have risen to their judicial positions after benefiting from a leak of professional exam questions in 2011.

Most were later dismissed from their jobs, the private Demiroren news agency said.

Tens of thousands of public employees, including members of the judiciary, police and military, were fired in the wake of the failed putsch. Critics say the government has used the attempt to target a wide range of opponents.

Ankara accuses U.S.-based former Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen of leading the organization behind the attempted coup, which led to more than 250 deaths and saw rogue military elements fire on civilians and bomb the Turkish parliament.

His movement is also said to have previously infiltrated its supporters within state agencies in a bid to seize control. Gulen has denied the allegations.”

  9. UN agency: Libyan navy intercepts over 80 EU-bound migrants (abcnews, Jan 22, 2021)

“Libya’s coast guard intercepted on Friday more than 80 Europe-bound migrants in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of the North African country, the U.N. migration agency said.

The migrants were returned to Libyan soil, said the International Organization for Migration. They will most likely be held under dire conditions in detention centers that Libya has become notorious for.

“So far this year, some 300 people, including women and children, were returned to the country and ended up in detention,” said the IOM. “We reiterate that no one should be returned to Libya.”

The IOM posted photographs on Twitter showing its staff members speaking with mostly African male migrants on a Libyan pier.

This was the second interception off Libya in as many days. Late Thursday, the IOM said the Libyan navy returned to Libya another 86 migrants, including seven women and 19 children, who were intercepted earlier in the Mediterranean.

In the years since the 2011 uprising that ousted and killed longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi, war-torn Libya has emerged as the dominant transit point for migrants fleeing war and poverty in Africa and the Middle East. Smugglers often pack desperate families into ill-equipped rubber boats that stall and founder along the perilous Central Mediterranean route.

On Tuesday, a boat carrying migrants bound for Europe capsized in the Mediterranean off the coast of Libya, and at least 43 people drowned. The tragedy marked the first maritime disaster in 2021 involving migrants seeking better lives in Europe. The IOM had cited survivors as saying that the dead were all men from West African nations.

In recent years, the EU has partnered with Libya’s coast guard and other local groups to stem such dangerous sea crossings. Rights groups, however, say those policies leave migrants at the mercy of armed groups or confined in squalid detention centers rife with abuses.

Also on Friday, SOS Mediterranee, tweeted that its rescue ship Ocean Viking, found and rescued two rubber boats in distress, carrying 140 people, including women and children. Earlier, Alarm Phone, a crisis hotline for migrants tweeted that these two boats had taken off from Libyan shores.”

  10. David Redman – former executive director of Alberta Emergency Management Agency

The problem with focusing too narrowly on data sets like case counts or even deaths directly attributed to COVID-19, is that crucial information may be left out: deaths caused by delays in non-urgent surgeries or sick people avoiding the hospital, or the increase in suicides and scores of opioid overdoses.

Redman say he wrote to Alberta Premier Jason Kenny in early April to advise him of his plan and offered his services to him, he had approached ALL 13 Canadian Premiers, but he has largely been ignored.

It is still not too late to make some strategic changes. Governments MUST stop all lockdowns, and get everyone under 65 without compromised immune systems, fully back to work. Crucially, the fear campaign in the media and through government announcements must stop.

Officials must allow people (the little people) to make risk-analysis decisions for themselves and stop EXCESSIVE regulations and intrusion into people’s lives. in addition, anti-social measures that erode the social fabric must end, such as snitch lines where health officials ask people to report on each other for pandemic rule infractions.

Klaus Schwab, the global madman monster would call out Redman for his honesty. Schwab tells the global freaks to push for lockdowns, insist the governments can protect the little people from germs, Instill fear, more pandemic nonsense and climate change is how we will accomplish the Great Reset. Fear, fear, fear, stay home, stay safe, wear your mask and shut up.

There are many drugs that can cure you but no no no, you must get the vaccine. Don’t believe the money grubbing liars, take your life back, stand up to the global freaks and the coward politicians. They do NOT have your best interests at heart. Trust in God, stay positive, keep on the sunny side, demand politicians stop spewing their lies or step down.

  12. Iran Boasts Record Oil Export Figures Despite US Sanctions (sputniknews, Jan 22, 2021)

“Iran has seen a record high in oil exports despite US sanctions on its energy sector, the Islamic Republic’s oil minister said on Friday.

“Our enemies wanted to zero out our oil sales but our selfless partners let us beat petroleum export records during the sanctions period,” Bijan Zangeneh was quoted as saying by his ministry’s official news agency, Shana.

Zanganeh said in December that Iran planned to pump 4.5 million barrels of oil and gas condensate per day in 2021 and increase oil exports to 2.3 million barrels per day.

Iranian oil exports slumped after President Donald Trump pulled the United States out of a nuclear deal with Tehran in 2018 and tightened economic sanctions on Iran. The Islamic Republic hopes that Joe Biden will ease restrictions after the US rejoins the pact.”

Now that Trump is gone, media turn in their gotcha questions and ‘report the news’

No sooner had Donald Trump boarded Air Force One for the last time than the ear-piercing screech emanating daily from the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room abated, replaced by the sound of thumb sucking. It’s the Obama years all over again. Even the face behind the podium is a familiar one. Jen Psaki, who tag-teamed with Marie Harf (now a Fox News Channel contributor!) as the voice of the State Department under Obama, is back, this time as press secretary.

The fractious media are now free to go back on autopilot, asking questions that inquiring minds want answered. Example:

  14. Biden, Iran Have Been in Secret Talks on US Return to Nuclear Deal for Three Weeks, Report Claims (sputniknews, Jan 22, 2021)

“Members of the Biden team have been negotiating with their Iranian counterparts on the prospects of a US return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action nuclear deal for about three weeks now, with talks underway even while Trump was still president, Le Figaro has reported, citing a source said to have ‘access to the circles of power in Tehran’.

“Discussions took place in New York between Majid Takht Ravanchi, Iran’s representative to the United Nations, and a US envoy from the Biden administration,” the source said. “We will know very soon whether these discussions were successful or not.”

The source also specified the purpose of the discussions, saying that “they aim to fix the framing of announcements” on a possible US return to the deal, and that they have been focused on a “strict and concomitant return” of the two countries to the agreement, including the lifting of crushing US sanctions against Iran imposed in 2018 after President Trump withdrew the US from the treaty…”

Joe Biden Just Replaced Military Flags And Churchill In Oval Office – He Replaces Them With Socialist Chavez
    What’s Happening:

As you can expect, Joe Biden’s team is redecorating the Oval Office. President Trump adorned it with gold curtains and busts of great leaders (including Churchill and Dr. King).

What will Biden do to this history office? Well, let’s say he’s not basing his decisions on interior decorating tips.

Instead, it appears he’s just trying to do the opposite of what Trump did.

He removed a portrait of President Andrew Jackson, a bust of Churchill, and military flags. In their place is something few Trump supporters will love. From Fox News:

    What’s Happening:

On his first day in office, Joe Biden unleashed a flurry of executive orders. One of the worst was his canceling of the Keystone XL pipeline.

That project, fought by Trump to be made a reality, would have provided countless jobs for hard-working folks. Not to mention provide new energy resources for the country.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxon said he will sue the Biden administration over its “illegal deportation freeze.”

“Border states like Texas pay a particularly high price when the federal government fails to faithfully execute our country’s immigration laws,” Paxton wrote in a letter. Paxton remarked: “I won’t tolerate unlawful acts from Joe Biden’s administration. Today, I am taking action.”

It came after the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the Biden administration would pause deportations for some illegal immigrants for 100 days.

“The pause will allow DHS to ensure that its resources are dedicated to responding to the most pressing challenges that the United States faces, including immediate operational challenges at the southwest border in the midst of the most serious global public health crisis in a century,” the statement read. “Throughout this interim period DHS will continue to enforce our immigration laws.”

Specifically, the policy will “pause removals” for certain noncitizens who were ordered to be deported.

“Trump issued a directive to extend post-presidency Secret Service protection to his four adult children and two of their spouses, who were not automatically entitled to receive it,” The Washington Post reported, citing “three people briefed on the plan.”

In addition to protection for his children Ivanka, Don. Jr, Eric and Tiffany, Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner and Eric’s wife Lara will also get protection. Trump also directed the Secret Service to continue protecting three top government officials for six months: former treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin, former chief of staff Mark Meadows, and former national security adviser Robert C. O’Brien, the Post reported.

The Chinese regime has been actively growing its fleet of unmanned aircrafts to spy on and compete with adversaries such as the United States, a leaked document from China’s Ministry of National Defense reveals.

The July 2017 document, supplied to The Epoch Times by a trusted source, described Beijing’s ambition to dominate what it called “full dimensional warfare”—referring to control over sea, land, air, space, and the electromagnetic spectrum where military equipment communicates—by developing advanced military drones.

To accomplish the above, the regime detailed a plan to design one to two types of small, long-range military drones and establish a factory to produce 1,000 drones per year. The document stated there would be a 130 million yuan (about $20 million) investment to build the drone-making firm that would begin production by the end of 2018.

Top Trump adviser and former spokesperson Jason Miller was interviewed by Just the News on Thursday, where he said that former President Donald Trump has some goals for the years to come.

Miller flew together with Trump from Washington D.C. to Florida on Wednesday aboard Air Force One.

    3-4 minutes

When Simon & Schuster canceled its book deal with U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley earlier this month, citing the Missouri Republican’s “role” in events that led to rioting at the U.S. Capitol, it may soon prove to be one of many moves to silence conservative voices if other publishing professionals get their way.
    What are the details?

More than 500 American publishing industry professionals — editors, authors, agents, and others — have signed on to a “letter of intent” demanding that publishing houses blacklist members of former President Donald Trump’s administration.

“As members of the writing and publishing community of the United States, we affirm that participation in the administration of Donald Trump must be considered a uniquely mitigating criterion for publishing houses when considering book deals,” the letter — which Reason said was originally titled “No Book Deals for Traitors” — states.

José Horacio Gomez, the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, issued a strong denunciation of President Joe Biden’s stance on abortion, marriage, and gender.

Gomez, the archbishop of Los Angeles, offered prayers for the new president and his family on Inauguration Day.

“I am praying that God grant him wisdom and courage to lead this great nation and that God help him to meet the tests of these times, to heal the wounds caused by this pandemic, to ease our intense political and cultural divisions, and to bring people together with renewed dedication to America’s founding purposes, to be one nation under God committed to liberty and equality for all,” Gomez said in a statement.

The USCCB president emphasized that “Catholic bishops are not partisan players in our nation’s politics,” but are “responsible for the souls of millions of Americans and we are advocates for the needs of all our neighbors.”

Gomez noted that bishops must try to “guide consciences” by offering principles that are “rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the social teachings of his Church.”

    America’s new placeholder president speaks.

Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., 78, was installed North Korea-style as the placeholder president of the United States of America on January 20, surrounded by 25,000 U.S. troops, along with hundreds of socially-distancing well-wishers in front of an empty National Mall populated with a vast forest of planted American flags to distract from the fact that no one was there.

How long he will last before Nancy Pelosi invokes the 25th Amendment to replace him with the predatory Obama wannabe Kamala Harris is anyone’s guess.

The speech came as the Washington Post admitted hours after militia members were charged in connection with the January riot that former President Donald Trump had nothing to do with the civil disturbance that delayed our Potemkin parliament’s certification of electors a few hours. This was, of course, the riot after which Biden, statist simpleton that he is, scolded lawmakers who thought they were running for their very lives for not stopping to put face masks on.

A legal, democratic recall election is now a “coup” attempt by extremists.

“This recall effort, which really ought to be called ‘the California coup,’ is being led by right-wing conspiracy theorists, white nationalists, anti-vaxxers and groups who encourage violence on our democratic institutions.”

That was California Democratic Party chair Rusty Hicks, in a January 12 press conference, joined by Fresno city councilman Nelson Esparza who called the recall “treasonous.” That language prompted Ben Christopher of CalMatters to clarify the matter.

  29. Remember Cyril Winter the man, the Liberal government charged for standing out on the street. He died at the Ottawa Heart Institute Friday March 9, he was supposed to be in court March 23rd.

He was a hero of mine, who stood up for Freedom of Expression and Religion. No censorship, a champion for the unborn – God’s love, not murder. RIP you wonderful man.

When the New York Times and the Washington Post wanted Iran explained to them, they turned to Kaveh Afrasiabi. So did at least one member of Congress who is only listed as “Congressman-1” in the FBI’s application for Afrasiabi’s arrest as a foreign agent of Iran.

Afrasiabi had started out as Howard Zinn’s teaching assistant. The notorious Communist revisionist historian was the Iranian immigrant’s dissertation adviser. “My first exposure to Zinn was in his graduate class on Marxism and anarchism,” Afrasiabi wrote in a tribute at The Nation.

Zinn had gushed, “I admire Afrasiabi for his courage.”
